Amazing burgers, great drinks, and an awesome location! Blackie's is a perfect stop whether you're out riding your motorcycle, exploring the area, or just looking for some seriously good food. The only downside during my visits would be people smoking directly outside the entrances. Since the restaurant uses large open garage-style doors, the smoke easily drifts inside and can affect the entire dining area and bar. For those with allergies, sensitivities, or anyone who simply prefers not to eat surrounded by cigarette smoke, it can really take away from an otherwise great experience. A designated smoking area farther away from the entrance would go a long way toward making this already awesome place even better. Came to Blackies Gas Stop with some friends. We haven't been there in a while and friends had been there several years ago. We all had good experiences and looked forward to going back. Unfortunately this trip as far as food fell extremely short for all of us. There was some good on this trip. It is still a cool little spot on 67. Maybe to just have a few drinks and maybe chips/salsa/queso if ever go back. The waitress Brittany is what saved this review from being 1 star. She had an awesome demeanor. Brittany was very attentive. Kept drinks filled and frequent checks on us. Now for the bad. Nobody liked their meals. Burgers and sandwiches had no flavor at all. Tater tots, fries and the overly cooked/burned onion rings had no flavor. When a child tells you the chicken fried chicken in a sandwich was hollow and tasted like air that says a lot. It's almost like they didn't care about the food that is served. Really disappointed because we don't get in that area much anymore and looked forward to going back. Don't like leaving negative type reviews but sometimes especially now days with cost of dining out you really expect to get what pay for. read more

Food is good. The only real complaint is it's dangerous getting back out on highway. Their prices are fair and the drinks are cold.

Under new ownership and they have some kinks to work out. But overall, a cool spot to hang out. Chicken wrap and HOT tater tots is where it's at. The country fried steak and cold fries, not so much. read more

Have driven by this place several times and not been able to stop. We were not sure what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised. Sunday afternoon for lunch so they were not busy and we got great service! Staff were very friendly. Place was clean, bathroom was clean. Food was good- real French fries, burger, grilled chicken wrap. Kids food (at least hot dog) not kids sized- more like sausage, not hot dog. "Kids and dogs" welcome per staff- live music on weekends. Full bar- our drinks were just as described- tasted great. When we were done, realized pool table, cigar bar and small arcade in back by outdoor seating. Definitely need to come back! read more

This place was very accommodating to a large group that was in town to sell land. Came in with about 25 people and were able to sit us in the back all together. Food was great and the servers were trying really hard to keep up with all our orders and drinks at the same time while still accommodating other patrons. Solid beer selection. Not quite sure how to exactly to chalk up my experience here. There really are a limited amount of places to hang and dine off of Hwy 67 and in the Walnut Springs area. I am fortunate to be able to head up North from the city to spend time at the family ranch during the year and it seems new venues are opening up all the time. Blackie's is a sister to the Blackie's not to far away which has a very different vibe. Here, the restaurant is perched in a valley of sorts which provides some truly fantastic views. It has a really large outside patio with a game room and a stage for musicians. During our visit, a solo singer was setting up inside the bar area, which took out a couple of the booth's to sit in. There is a full bar with limited amount of tap beer for the offing. All the regular beer options available as well as some imports to sip on while chilling out. I opted for a Frozen Margarita, thinking it would be the usual fare coming from the ubiquitous machine. In this case, they are made individually in a blender. I think this is probably why the frozen arrived not completely frozen, with a very non-descript taste or flavor note. I thought I would jazz it up and asked for a shot of Herradura and a spoon to remove the little fly which had died with a smile on it's face from the drink. No worries, didn't make a fuss, just didn't want drink it. Pesky little things to curb, especially when you have an outdoor patio type of bar area. The menu is very simple with basic burgers and fried food such as Chicken, poppers and hush puppies. Also a couple of salads and chili. My sis in law grabbed a salad, bro in law and spouse burgers and myself the Chicken Tenders. We also pre-noshed on Hush Puppies and Poppers. I get the feeling that the poppers/puppies were from a food distributor such as Sysco. They were fine. My Chicken basket was a large serving with perhaps 4-5 tenders with fries. Unfortunately, as noted by another reviewer, the batter flaked off the chicken on the first bite. The chicken was well cooked and not dry and was tasty dipping into the Ranch dressing. Perhaps patting the chicken dry, giving it plenty of room in the pan, could eliminate this if they are made in house. Comments on the burgers were they were cooked to a well done. Note to self, next time in, ask them to prepare them medium. Sis in law, loved her salad which was fresh and crispy with nice chicken bites. Blackie's is a local haunt and I wouldn't come here expecting anything gourmet. Just solid bar food, with some small tweaks and an amazing view point for a sunset and friendly service. Our waitress was all of that. Checked in on us, was cheerful and friendly. Couldn't ask for anything more in that department. One note, there looks to be a large parking area as well as parking on along the front of the restaurant. If you park along the front, you are on gravel. So, jumping on the accelerator to exit and trying to get ahead of the cars barreling down 67 will have your heart skip a beat since it leads you to spinning out before advancing forward. Went in at opening and found a seat. Young guy looking at us told us bartender was in the restroom and would be out shortly. 10 min later she came to take our order. Ordered onion rings $12.00 got about 8. Ordered 2 burgers 12.00 with cheese 2.00 extra came with fries. And ordered tea. They had to brew tea. Burgers delivered and tea. Wife had to go to tables in the back to find catsup meanwhile bartender is behind the bar eating onion rings and changing her shoes which she put under the bar on top of the extra liquor . Burger was ok hand cut fries were about the size of McDonalds am fries. $48.00 for two burgers and fries and onion rings and two teas. Burgers would have been better at Whataburger. No service and not that great of food. I'll never be back. And that's a shame as I like a good burger. read more

Last time we were there, they were out of almost everything. When we ordered chips and queso they tried to pass off reheated grease bombs as chips. They were inedible.... The waitress did replace them when we asked - she was nice, but the food was just not good. read more

It was ok. It's a fun location but it seems more of a place to go for a beer. Maybe it was just an off day but the food was not very good at all. I got a crispy chicken sandwich. The breading just slipped right off and the chicken wasn't cooked all the way. I've heard good things about the onion rings and they were good but nothing amazing. read more

Only been there once so far, it just opened days ago, but the blue cheese burger I had was incredible. And the beer was super cold. They have transformed an old abandoned gas station into a fun dining atmosphere. Food is a bit pricey but I'm willing to fork over the little bit extra for the extra quality. I look forward to trying out some of their handcrafted cocktails soon and other menu items. This place is worth the stop. read more
