Random road trip for Sunday funday. This place was amazing. Great atmosphere and the food was excellent! Don't let the small town vibes keep you away. Great staff and service

Great experience overall - friendly people and great food. We also enjoyed the live music - check this place out if you're down in the area! If you're not down there they have some cool VRBOs in town and Glen Rose is close too.

Fun atmosphere full of bikers, beer and great food. We had three different flavors of wings and all were delicious. The hot sauce stole the show along with the owner's personality. Staff are friendly and quick. Great find and will be back to try the burgers on Sundays.

Delicious food, excellent service, and the atmosphere combined made it a wonderful experience. I ordered the pastrami hoagie and I ate every crumb on that plate. I took a bite of my friends rattlesnake pizza and end up eating half of his pizza! I normally don't take my iPad to bars but that night I did and when I left to hang out with the crowd outside on the patio and forgot about my iPad, it was still there on my table when I got back. The location and venue building itself is historical and is decorated with some really cool stuff that you'll have to see for yourself. I like that the bathrooms were very clean. They have live entertainment, full bar, and nice little dance area. Its a real cool place to visit and I recommend going :)

Right on the corner of 3rd St (SH 144) and Norway, you will find Bosque Cantina. A quaint, unassuming storefront with a Walnut Springs mural slapped on the side of the building. Inside you will find some of the most friendly staff and best Mexican food in many, many miles. I have been here a few times now, and meant to leave a review every time. However, when the food arrives, I almost always forget to take the pictures and dive right in. Today, I did not. On my home, I made sure to stop in again, and to my surprise, when I walked the young female manager named Constance greeted me by name. BY NAME. It had been months since my first visit and she was not there for my second one, but this amazing young woman remembered the name of a random customer from months earlier who decided to have a chat with her on his fist visit. That is service, and the rest of her staff is just as friendly and engaging. You feel like you walked into a gathering of friends, that happen to be busy serving food to houseguests. Now for the food, I travel all over Texas and the surrounding states for work and therefore, I eat a lot of Mexican food. I have Hispanic friends and relatives that often cook for events. This means that I am not easily impressed with Mexican cuisine. I eat it a lot, and it takes something special for me to intentionally go out of my way to return to an establishment for their food. This one is worth the detour. So far, I have tried their Fajitas (beef, chicken and shrimp) and their Carne Asada. Both were excellent. Tonight's dish was their Fajitas Famosas which came out steaming and sizzling on the hot plate, filling the dining area with that unmistakable aroma. There is not enough praise I can give for this dish: perfect seasoning, tender yet with a great char on the meat and the vegetables, accompanied by fresh tortillas, pico, guac and sour cream. The Ribeye Carne Asada was just a wonderful. A tender, well charred ribeye steak bursting with flavor, covered in charred onions and ranchero sauce was just the thing I needed after a rough week and once again, on that visit the staff was wonderful. If you have the chance to check out the Bosque Cantina, even if it is a bit out of your way, it is well worth the detour. You will not be disappointed and if you see Constance there, tell her that Dax sent you!

As we walked in, co-owner and chef Shannon was trying to get the perfect photo of their baked potato for content. As we talked about her version of the baked potato, my husband and I both said we've got to try it tonight. So, we did just that along with the filet. Here's the special part, this steak was fork tender and cooked medium rare plus perfect with incredible flavor. We just had dinner at a steak house downtown Fort Worth for restaurant week last Saturday night. It was a wonderful evening and meal, but Oma Leen's filet blew away Saturday nights offering. This was our first experience ordering a steak at Oma Leen's as their other offerings are amazing. However, it will not be the last on the filet as well as the baked potato!

The menu here is not expansive but it offers a very nice selection of tantalizing dishes. We opted for the fried chicken tacos. Being old timers with small appetites we customarily share an entree, but when I learned that an order consists of two, not the customary three tacos, I ordered a plate for each of us. Big mistake! Hahaha. These tacos are humongous! I'm afraid I totally failed to fulfill my duties as a responsible Yelper and take a photo of the presented plate. Attached is a pic of one, but the pic does not adequately provide for you a sense of the taco's actual size. We each had to work to finish one each. This creation is a work of taco art. A taco masterpiece. The tortilla appears to be house-made. The large pieces of chicken breast, perfectly seasoned and breaded; and crisply fried rest on a bed of some of the tastiest cole slaw ever. The fried chicken is then topped with a couple sauces that sing with the chicken and finished with house made hot honey. This taco is worth the drive to Hico from FTW for lunch. Service was once again very pleasant and attentive. And as I think I said in my previous review, Owners/Chefs Austin and Shannon have done a wonderful job of curating a welcoming, warm and authentic ambiance in this historic building.

The only downside during my visits would be people smoking directly outside the entrances. Since the restaurant uses large open garage-style doors, the smoke easily drifts inside and can affect the entire dining area and bar. For those with allergies, sensitivities, or anyone who simply prefers not to eat surrounded by cigarette smoke, it can really take away from an otherwise great experience. A designated smoking area farther away from the entrance would go a long way toward making this already awesome place even better. Overall, Blackie's is a fantastic spot with great food, a fun atmosphere, and definitely worth stopping by!

Unfortunately this trip as far as food fell extremely short for all of us. There was some good on this trip. It is still a cool little spot on 67. Maybe to just have a few drinks and maybe chips/salsa/queso if ever go back. The waitress Brittany is what saved this review from being 1 star. She had an awesome demeanor. Brittany was very attentive. Kept drinks filled and frequent checks on us. Now for the bad. Nobody liked their meals. Burgers and sandwiches had no flavor at all. Tater tots, fries and the overly cooked/burned onion rings had no flavor. When a child tells you the chicken fried chicken in a sandwich was hollow and tasted like air that says a lot. It's almost like they didn't care about the food that is served. Really disappointed because we don't get in that area much anymore and looked forward to going back. Don't like leaving negative type reviews but sometimes especially now days with cost of dining out you really expect to get what pay for.

The neon signs, brick walls, and interesting decor make this a unique place to visit, and honestly a great place to grab an Instagram picture. The bartenders are knowledgeable and have great recommendations. They offer cocktails, beer and wine, and coffee and tea. I haven't had the coffee here so I can only comment on the bar. The drinks are pretty pricy for Waco (~$10), so going here for me is an experience thing. I have tried the Faerie Fire, which the bartender told me tasted like a strawberry moscow mule, and he was right! What's interesting about it is that there is cayenne in it, so some spice hits the back of your throat. I have also had their Tom Collins and enjoyed it. It's a pleasant, refreshing drink. I tried the Jungle Bird and the Pink Flamingo and they weren't really my thing, but my friends have enjoyed them. I think the key to going here is knowing what you like. The best part about One Day is all of the outdoor seating. Especially during covid, when barhopping is pretty much out of the question, this place has been a refuge for drinks with friends. They have six picnic tables out front, where the Yaki food truck is typically stationed (SO GOOD, must try!), and they also have several two-top tables in a little "alley" past the picnic tables between two buildings. Instagram tip: there's a neon sign out there if you wanna grab a pic! It's also nice because the experience hasn't changed because of covid like it has at other bars. I think everyone can find something they like at One Day. Try it out!

The location alone makes it worth a visit, with beautiful views of the water and a relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for spending an afternoon or evening outdoors. One of the standout features is the outdoor music stage. It is perfectly positioned near the river, and they consistently seem to bring high-quality bands to town. If you enjoy live music, this is one of the best venues in the area. The combination of great music, river views, and an outdoor setting creates a fun and memorable experience. The seating options are spread throughout the property, with tables and chairs on the deck overlooking the river as well as additional seating closer to the stage. Because the venue is popular, it can be challenging to find a seat near the stage during busy events, so arriving early is a good idea. The food was another pleasant surprise. We ordered the burger and a pizza, and both exceeded our expectations. The menu is casual, but the quality was better than we anticipated and paired well with a night of live music. The craft beer selection is somewhat limited, but the prices are reasonable and there are enough options to satisfy most visitors. One thing to keep in mind is that the venue is largely open-air. During the Texas summer, it can become uncomfortably hot, especially during the afternoon. Fortunately, the atmosphere and river breeze help make up for it once the sun starts to go down. Overall, this is an excellent place for live music, drinks, good food, and socializing with friends while enjoying beautiful river views. It has a laid-back Texas Hill Country feel that makes it one of Glen Rose's most enjoyable gathering spots.
