a sandwich and french fries in a styrofoam container

The Good: Black's Sliders are pretty amazing--the pulled pork slider with apples is my personal favorite, and the fries are good too. The Okay: Each slider is about $4, which is definitely overpriced for a sandwich that is only about six bites worth of food. The service on the slower side--we were second in line, but had to wait 7-8 minutes before we got to the window to order.

I hired Blacks Sliders for a adidas snowboard premier at the Clubhouse....I'm from Portland so I wasn't sure what truck to hire - so glad I chose Blacks. The sliders were amazing - I got the veggie sliders and WOW. I literally could have just had the bun and been stoked. Fantastic food truck! Highly recommend!

What a yummy food truck. Fresh, moderately priced choices. Pork slider was really good with the crunch of the Granny Smith apples mmmm, and fries were crispy and hot. Great find at the Saturday Farmers Market downtown SLC.

The best most delicious 2 sliders, fries, and soda or water for each guest! Loved it!

Hired Black's Sliders for a "Recovery Brunch" Sunday, following my daughter's wedding Saturday. Aaron and his team could not have been more accommodating or kind to our guests. In addition to his outstanding service the sliders he served were absolutely DELICIOUS and enjoyed by ALL our 150 Recovery Brunch guests!! A big order to fill for sure. I highly recommend Aaron Black's sliders for any food truck event!! EXCELLENT!!

Worth looking up and tracking down. As food trucks are taking off, they can be difficult to locate. I found Blacks by checking their website, which posts their weekly venue locations. Definitely worth a twenty minute drive. I sampled all of their sliders and fresh to death pretty much says it all. From the lettuce to the buns to the thinly sliced apples on the pulled pork sliders, every bit of Blacks was hand picked. They are smart not to skimp on quality. I would have to recommend their southern fried chicken sliders as the absolute winner. They were crisp and savory down to the last gulp. My daughter commented on how the fries tasted just as good as McDonald's. Which pretty much speaks for itself. I tried the garlic and Cajun variety, added truffle oil and they came out spectacular. No need to ask for your fries done well as they turn out perfectly crispy. I know they are opening a brick and mortar soon, can't wait for bigger menu options!

It was pretty good! Their goat cheese is BOMB and their fries are fresh. Not bad for a food truck at all!

A place I want to like, run by people who I want to like. A confluence of circumstances resulted in a bad experience, and I think I have to share it. I was at Food Truck Thursday at the Gallivan Center a few weeks ago, persuing my mobile dining options. While in front of Black's, a guy approached me, explaining the sourcing of the ingredients and how tasty everything was. I was kind of taken aback as I learned this was the truck's proprietor. You don't often expect a truck operator to be outside of the truck, and though I felt a little assaulted (the guy didn't say hello or smile, just went into his pitch), and because they were offering free drinks with combos, I decided to give them a try. The owner touted the fried chicken as the best, so I got it, along with a regular beef slider, and "cajun" fries. And then I waited, and waited, and waited. Eventually, I got up from my stoop I'd found for myself, and the out-of-truck proprietor asked me my name. It seems that his chef had lost my order. He put my order at the front AND comped my meal. Very classy, and I appreciated it. My order came out reasonably quickly, with what you see in the pic. The "cajun" fries were just regular fries with cajun seasoning. Fine, but common. While the bun and toppings on my "deluxe" burger were fresh and tasty, the burger itself was seriously short on meat. For the "regular" prices, I was expecting a little more beef, and it certainly got lost in the toppings. I took a couple of bites of the chicken, thinking "hmm, this is much meatier than normal... I wonder what they did to it." Then I looked down. The middle of the chicken was a deep pink color. In their rush to get me my order, they left my chicken slider completely undercooked. Having waited already nearly a half an hour, and already getting my meal comped, I couldn't bring myself to complain once again. I'm sure my experience was the exception that proves what looks to be a rule of really quality food, and I appreciate that the owner was trying really hard to make everything right. And I would be willing to try them again. But next time, I'll look at my chicken before I take a bite.

Also tried this truck at Opening Night and it was a hit. Simple and delicious slider with good seasoning. I really enjoyed their Cajun fries, as well. I'd like to try their fried chicken slider. We tried the original and the pulled pork. Loved the original, and the pulled pork was okay, though I'd prefer slightly cooked apples, instead of the fresh as a topping. We'd absolutely eat here again. **UPDATE** I tried the Fried Chicken Sandwich, and it was AMAZING! Honestly the best I've had. I'm not huge on chicken sandwiches, but I could eat this baby often. Black's has quickly become my favorite truck. Plus I was very appreciative of the guy who was willing to cook us some burgers even though the event (Monday Food Trucks at Sugarhouse) didn't start for a couple of hours. We happened to notice them around 4 HOPING they were open, and he said he would never turn away people who want to eat. And boy did we want to eat :) Traditional Slider + Fried Chicken Slider + Cajun Fries = happiness.

Three Slider Plate. From L to R: Soaker, Vegetarian, and Southern Fried Chicken. With Parmesan & Herb fries

Tried Black's Sliders last night at the West Valley Food Truck Roundup. I was pulled in with the promise of hormone and antibiotic free locally sourced food. And I was pleased with the results. I got the 3 Slider Plate w/ Side. They have a couple really delicious sounding beef sliders but I wanted to try something different. So I went with the Southern Fried Chicken, Soaker (Pulled Pork), and Vegetarian Slider. For my side I got the Parmesan & Herb fries. I will start with the Vegetarian as it was my least favorite. Don't get me wrong! It was good but it came with thin slices of yellow squash and zucchini. I wish it had some other veggies on it. Like some mushrooms or bell peppers. Or even some fresh lettuce to add some texture as it was kind of one note. But the balsamic reduction was a really nice touch and added some sweetness which the slider really needed. The Soaker was a pulled pork slider that was really satisfying. It comes with a really refreshing slaw which is a MUST when you are having a rich pulled pork. Get some extra BBQ sauce for it if you are like me and love really juicy pulled pork. Mind you, the pork is delicious on it's own so it doesn't need the sauce for flavor. But the star was the Southern Fried chicken slider! I could have eaten a dozen of them! The chicken was fried to perfection! I think it is hard to achieve the ideal crispy outside while keeping the inside moist but the chef does it like no other. And the flavor was exactly like you imagine exceptional fried chicken should be. It comes with some lettuce and a really creamy ranch sauce that I think they also made. You must try one of these sliders! Or even better- have a few! The Parmesan & Herb fries were really delicious. They don't skimp on the cheese and the herbs are present without being overwhelming. They are crispy which is how I like my fries. If I hadn't loved that damn chicken sandwich so much, I would be ranting about the fries. The guys who run this truck are clearly passionate about delicious food while still be responsible too. Make sure to ask questions as they would love to tell you all about themselves and their truck. You will walk away feeling just as enthused as they are. I am so happy they were at the West Valley Roundup and they can be sure that should they come again, I will be back for more chicken sliders!

Amazing! Quality, and service were both spectacular. Service was fast, and friendly. I was even offered a free drink while I waited for my meal, which wasn't long. The deluxe burger and the chicken slider, with the herb and parmesan fries were what I ordered, and I'd highly recommend all three.

Sugarhouse foodtruck league on Monday nights

Who doesn't love a good food truck? The problem is mediocre ones are extremely disappointing. We attended the food truck league at Sugarhouse commons on a Monday night and were excited for some yummy food. This truck looked intriguing with its simple black and white design and promise of farm to truck food (ironically this one stood out from all the other brightly colored food trucks that seemed to be screaming for attention). It seemed classy, and with classy I would normally expect to see that reflected in the food. We tried the classic slider, the fried chicken, and the pulled pork with some Parmesan and herb fries. All of these sandwiches were served on the same "Tuscan bun" which was a little too soft (some toasting would have made a huge difference) and too large (we had left over bun for all 3 sliders). The best was probably the fried chicken but all of them needed some boost in flavor. As far as the fries, well they were just fries with some seasonings added. Nothing to get excited about. In the end, the design of the truck and description of the food on the menu were the high points. I felt very let down. So the journey to find a really good SLC food truck continues...

my card is kinda messed up and its hard to read it when its swiped. i think the guy working swiped my card like 20 different times and my card wouldn't read. so i was ready to give up on it and just starve til i got home but one of the guys told me he already made the food and gave it to me anyways. he definitely didnt have to do that and i appreciate both of them so much!! They're not kidding when they say their lobsters are fresh! Other than the taste, my next favorite thing about their lobster rolls is the quantity. Finally, I have found a lobster roll place that does not skimp! Truly, that fact alone makes it a rare find. Other than lobster rolls, they also serve soup, salads, crab rolls, etc. I had the lobster bisque, which wasn't bad either. The blueberry bbq chicken salad was fine. To be transparent, this place is not cheap, especially not their lobster rolls. However, they pack it on and the quality is unmatched. I wouldn't say I would dine here every due to the sheer high prices, but whenever I am in town, I always try to stop by my favorite lobster roll place ever! For reheated frozen food and needing to bus your own dishes, I was a little disappointed. Service was friendly! We came right when they opened and paid almost $300 for a meal for 6 people. The clam chowder (5/5) was flavorful and well-salted, and chockful of potatoes and meat. The bisque (3/5) was not nearly as flavorful or delicious-- it needed way more salt and creaminess. We each had either a lobster roll or lobster sliders as our main entree, but those were just pretty average lobster rolls. I think they could've been more buttery and salty. The salad that we got was really good! Overall, would not come back but happy to at least try Freshie's.
