Stopped in for some ice cream before heading home to Salt Lake after a day in Midway. Decided to get some dinner as well. I had the avocado blt. It wasn't as good as it sounded. I expected it on regular sandwich bread toasted, it came out on a hamburger bun and the bacon looked and tasted like the microwave bacon. Not what I expected but it looked good. Husband had a pastrami burger and he really enjoyed that. He ordered onion rings with his and they were golden and perfectly crunchy. I would classify Granny's as a nostalgic part of Heber city. The cute yard games out front, the restaurant inside a little house adds to all the quaint parts of it. As far as food and service..... I've had better I totally understand it was a busy day for them! I do like that they have a beeper system so you order, they give you the beeper and if you get milkshakes as well as food, they beep you for both which is nice. Our cashier was not super friendly and didn't take our order correctly so when we got our food it was a little disappointing. But again, they were busy so that could've been it. With the food, we ordered the legendary cheeseburger, mushroom burger, and pastrami burger as well as fries and milkshakes. Their milkshakes are more of soft serve blended with your mix ins so it's like a concrete. For the size, wasn't totally worth the money but it was pretty good! The burgers just lacked seasoning across the board and the fries were pretty sad and needed salt. Also the buns were terrible So overall, would I come back? Probably not for the food, but if I wanted just a fun little place to play games and have a milkshake (aka ice cream with toppings blended in ) it's not a bad option. read more

Finally made it to granny's. An iconic summertime stop in Heber city. We only had the milkshake today. Delicious. They call it a milkshake, but it's really a massive cup of soft serve ice cream that eventually melts into milkshake mode. Very thick. Did I say it was delicious? The shakes are always awesome here and this time was no different. Even a small size is still pretty big, but the large shake is monstruos. Love sitting outside when the weather is great. My wife and I went here on a first date and so it's always a nice trip down memory lane for us. read more

This is a cute little local spot for a tasty, greasy meal. There's indoor and outdoor seating and free water and fry sauce with your food, which is nice. Our food was pretty good. I was a little disappointed because I thought my bacon cheeseburger was supposed to be made of ground brisket? It just looked and tasted like regular beef to me. The fries, chicken, and Death by Chocolate shake were all good too. I think the best part was the delicious fry sauce. The staff was really nice and chatty. The location seemed a little understaffed, but even so, my food came out within a reasonable time limit. As you can imagine, the outdoor seating isn't terribly comfortable, so go for the indoor seating if you can. Oh, and luckily, there's a bathroom inside. Unluckily, it's kind of gross. I wouldn't use it unless you have to (for instance, if you're eight months pregnant like I was during my visit). read more

In Park City, but wanted to explore this area more. We were on our way to Deer Valley and moved down the highway to Heber City. Granny's Drive In had a large crowd outside on Friday afternoon and required us to investigate. Established in 1982, they are known for their burger and fries. The internet highlights a homemade soft serve milkshake that nearly everyone sitting at the outside picnic was enjoying. That worked perfectly for us. We ordered a vanilla soft serve shake with raspberry and ground up butterfinger bar. My wife had a vanilla soft serve with peanut butter and chocolate chips. The small shake was almost to much food (NOT). A great choice and perfectly done. They are not fancy, but JUST GOOD. Stopped in Heber after a long trip. We decided to give Granny's a try. The normal stop in Heber in Dairy Keen, but they've benefited from mediocre food (at best) and little competition for decades. Hence, we wanted to try the new burger joint on the block. Unfortunately, it wasn't much competition for Dairy Keen. The ingredients of the burgers are good and fresh. The shakes were good (small, but good). The big downer for this place is you're paying $10 for a burger that is light on the toppings. Plus, the bun was dry. Granny's Drive-In has had its share of owners, and I hadn't visited in years due to past disappointing experiences. However, I decided to stop by this summer for a shake and was pleasantly surprised. They offer a wide variety of flavors and combinations, and as a chocolate ice cream lover, I appreciated that they actually use chocolate ice cream instead of just mixing syrup into vanilla. The pricing is great--definitely the best in town for shakes, and the mini size is generous, towering over the cup. While I haven't tried much of the food menu yet, I find myself returning frequently for their shakes. You can't get any more "mom-and-pop" shop in this cute and quaint spot - love supporting this local business! Upon visiting Heber City, looked up a great place for shakes and stumbled upon this wonderful venue. They have such great options for shakes - and it's the thick kind of shakes that you eat with a spoon! Tried these flavors: tiramisu, fresh raspberry, caramel (with real caramel swirls), and pina colada. All were pretty fantastic, but the tiramisu was my favorite - it had small chunks of mocha bits that just intensified the tiramisu flavor and some bits of cake in the shake. The staff was wonderful and helpful - gave great feedback on recommendations and even suggested a few that I wasn't even considering originally. Armando, the owner is as pleasant as they come - super down to earth and was a pleasure to converse with. I'll be sure to stop by this joint again when we are in Heber City! read more

It's been awhile since a hamburger made me make noises like that-I apologize for the scene I made in the restaurant, but BOY was that a good burger! I see that other reviews were hit and miss, but today was a bullseye for me. I loved it! I also got a classic chocolate shake that was pretty darn good, too. Only in Utah will it be 30 degrees outside and people order ice cream. Add me to that list, as one of those people-I enjoyed every second of it. The outdoor walk up window and patio look amazing-I can only imagine how great it would be to enjoy a meal or a shake out there on a summer evening. I hike in that area regularly and Granny's is my to go spot afterwards. I had the bacon cheeseburger and fries this last time. The burger is juicy and the toppings are great. The bread is much better now. Really good. You get a huge amount of fries, and fry sauce. This place is always busy, but the wait wasn't too bad for a Saturday. Loved the shake, didn't love the kids meal burger. I ordered a regular cheeseburger but the cashier thought I wanted a kids meal for some reason, and I didn't realize I was given that until I drove away. I wish I could've reviewed the burger I actually ordered but the kids meal was just a cheap patty on a bun with no sauce or even lettuce or tomato. It was super plain and boring to eat. I'd give it 2 stars. The fries were good though! The shakes on the other hand are a 5 for me! I love that they use fresh raspberries and it met my expectations! Even the mini shake is plenty big. I think Granny's is a bit overpriced, and I wish they would've got my order right. I wasn't thrilled about paying $12 for what I was given, and I have a hard time believing I would love a normal burger based on how boring the kids one was. So so happy that we stopped in to try this spot on our short trip to Heber. The cheeseburger was awesome and perfectly cooked with so much flavor. Their fries were a little crispy which normally isn't my favorite but they worked well and they have awesome fry sauce to pair it with. But the icing on the cake was their amazing shakes. They are so tasty and the ice cream is absolutely delicious. We tried Oreo cheesecake, raspberry cheesecake and a strawberry raspberry shake. Our kids and us devoured them! How am I supposed to know the difference between a "ranch burger" and a "western burger?" Popped into Granny's in Heber City on Sunday. Place was hopping but the window cashier kept the line moving at a quick pace. Receive a beeper for order ready alert. We sat outside as it was a perfect sunny day. Picnic style able was clean and well maintained. First beep alerted us to pick up the caramel cashew shake. It was a medium and a nice size for us to share. Lots of cashews too! Within 5 minutes the second beep alerted us to pick up the hot meals. Fresh from the grill the burgers were beautiful and ready to gobble. We had a Western burger and mushroom Swiss burger. Both scrumptious. The onion rings were piping hot and so delicious!
