Good food ruined by sociopathic management Went for restaurant week. They had 2 servers for the entire restaurant. Had to get our own silverware/ napkins. Had to refill water at the bar ourselves. Forgot to bring bread. Servers running around like crazy. Entree took 1.5 hours to show up and was stone cold. Brought wrong dish. Tried to gaslight us into thinking it was correct when it clearly not. When they brought it back, overheard someone say in the back, just tell them we are out, we don't have time to remake it. Tables next to us got up and left after waiting 30 minutes to get food. Another table that had ordered was yelling at server. Staff member was balling their eyes to the hostess as we were leaving saying they couldn't believe management put them in this position. How a nice restaurant could be run this poorly is beyond me. Only explanation is management is either related to owner or has some serious dirt on owner. No other way to explain how they still have a job. read more

She stuck us at the bar, where we sat unnoticed for 20 I uses. Came here for happy hour with some coworkers. The bartenders were nice and friendly. I felt like my food could have used a little bit more salt and my drink could have been a bit sweeter, but at least everything was made properly. Went for restaurant week on Saturday night (2/28/26) First of all, when you sit down in the restaurant side, a smell of fabuloso is very prominent. I don't want to smell that when I'm eating my dinner. After we were seated by the hostess, and Jorge introduced himself and said he would be taking care of us. (if you want to call it that). There were 2 waiters taking care of all the patrons. He took our drink order and then got lost. A long while later he returned after waiting on a few other tables with our drinks. A bus boy then brought out stale warmed bread to the table with whipped butter. We were ready to order. We all ordered the restaurant week special. After a long while, some of received our first course which was either salad or soup. They were just okay. A long while later our entrees came out. 3 of us ordered sirloin steak, medium rare and 1 filet mignon medium rare. The steaks were cooked pretty much to our liking except for my husband's. It was a little over cooked for his tastes. However, Jorge never came by to see how everything was. I was able to grab him as he walked by to let him know that my mashed potatoes were cold and he took my plate away and brought me back some fresh, COLD mashed potatoes. He NEVER asked if they were better. I just didn't eat them. I did enjoy the steak and the vegetables. We all finished our dinner and they cleared our plates and they just brought our dessert, never asking us if we wanted any coffee or tea or anything else. Jorge said we don't have any coffee, very sharply. Told him to wrap up my dessert, I want to take it home. What kind of an establishment doesn't have coffee? If the machine is broken, you get it repaired before you open for business. Then we gave a 20% tip and Jorge just comes by and picks up the cash and doesn't say anything. Later on when we were putting on our coats, he sees me and asks me do I want my receipt? I said no. I think THANK YOU! would have been more appropriate. Came for their new Social Hour and before it ended at 7, I ordered another Espresso Martini. At 7:45 I asked the main female Bartender working tonight about the drink I ordered from the male bartender and she said "yes, I told him not to make it because it doesn't look good". Granted, I had gotten a drink before I asked for the second, but still awful customer service. I don't post many reviews or negative ones, but she was very rude. She very well could have said "listen, we can't do a second drink when you have a full one at happy hour", but to meet my question with that statement and attitude- my coworker and I came here to give the new management and social hour a try and we won't be back if that's the kind of dismissive attitude we received. When we asked her why she couldn't serve another drink she explained it was against the law for the liquor license. Completely fine and we understood, but I said it would have been nice if you let me know that when I ordered it and I would have understood completely. She then said my drink was on the house and when I asked her for a box for our flatbread, she didn't acknowledge us. After googling the law, it seems like it is not against the law to have two drinks. More than two drinks is illegal. But who am I? To speak on the food, the mushroom flatbread is DELICIOUS even without the pesto. The social hour clams only came with 4 clams which we thought was a little scant- 6 is usually the standard even with a Happy Hour price. I work in a field where I handle "difficult" people regularly and I pride myself as not being problematic or stirring the pot and am very gracious when I'm at a restaurant or bar. Overall, we had better service at Flinder's Lane with the manager, Ross, where we went before we came here and we would go there before coming here again because of the service. read more

We were staying overnight down town Stamford and read the 5 star reviews about Blackstones. We were also celebrating our anniversary the expectations were high. The experience exceeded expectations. Alan was an exceptional server - extensive knowledge about the menu and gave spot on recommendations. I like sweet red wines and know that's a tall ask. He recommended a unique French wine because it was in his words 'outside the box' and was right. It was delicious. Alan recommended the crab cake because it was NOT heavily breaded and his girlfriend who loves Baltimore crabs bragged on it. It was so good my wife even ate half of mine (we did share the bacon which we enjoyed). The 22 oz bone in ribeye was perfectly prepared as advertised. The burger was exceptional. Alan recommended the carrot cake and it was one of the best we ever had. This was our first time and will absolutely not be our last. Highly recommend Blackstone - and ask for Alan! read more

Had amazing time at this restaurant for Easter dinner with my fiancé and friend. It was not packed. The waitress was extremely helpful. We had a fantastic view. The atmosphere felt really nice. The food was excellent since it was Easter. The prices were inflated, but that's fine. definitely would recommend Blackstone definitely had a good time here drinks were definitely good. Being devotees of the Capital Grille, we decided to use Stamford's annual restaurant week to try out Blackstone's, a bit apprehensive given its mixed reviews. I have to say our experience didn't disappoint in the grand scheme. Our last visit to the Capital Grille was only a week before, and it was a somewhat noisy affair. For Blackstone's, we elected to eat outside so it's difficult to compare this restaurant and Capital Grille too closely. I'll do my best. The wait staff was very good, though not quite up to the outstanding level of the well trained waiters at Capital Grille. We had to wait longer than we'd like at certain times during the meal, but it wasn't disastrous. Overall, I'd give Blackstone's wait staff a 4 compared to CG's 5. The bread was warm and fresh out of the oven, but sadly tasteless. The unsalted butter didn't help. Our meal started out at a low point. Our salad's quickly dispelled that disappointment. They were large, healthy salads, well dressed and exceedingly fresh. We actually think they were better than what we've had at CG, but not by much. Our steaks were a healthy size as well. We enjoyed our 10 oz. filets compared to the 8 oz. portions we get at CG. I had steak au poivre, and, while the steak was of an excellent caliber, the au au poivre side of it was a little bland for me. It didn't help that the Blackstone's steak wasn't encrusted in peppercorn the way CG does it. All in all, the meat was very good, just not quite as tasty as what we're accustomed to. Dessert at Blackcstone's was outstanding and felt a little more generous. Surprisingly, it seemed to us overall that Blackstone's prices were higher than those of Capital Grille, despite the fact that Blackstone's in total rated a 4 next to CG's 5. Perhaps, we'll try it again one day, but for now, CG remains our go-to steakhouse. read more

The parking is in a city garage two blocks down which costs a few dollars. We had dinner there twice recently with a professional group. The place was not busy. The steak was mediocre both times, tasteless and somewhat tough. The service was rather good. My wife felt the same about the steaks. We would not return. 10/10 food and service at Blackstones in Stamford! All of the drinks were great, and we started off strong with their delicious French onion soup and crab cake for appetizers. Then the porterhouse for two arrived, and all we can say is WOW! It was a perfect cut of meat for us to share. We went for an array of sides - the asparagus, creamed spinach, Mac and cheese, and truffle fries with truffle aioli. All perfection! We ended the night with some great tiramisu. We loved the fine dining, professional atmosphere. We'll be keeping Blackstones in mind when we're in the mood to go to a good steakhouse! read more

This was our first visit to Blackstone's Steakhouse for Stamford Winter 2023 restaurant week. Reservations were made easily online and upon arrival we were immediately greeted and seated. The place is large and tastefully decorated with beautifully set tables with white linens. The ambiance is classy and upscale while still feeling relaxed. Our waiter immediately brought menus and water to the table and quickly returned to take our order and drop off complimentary bread and in house pickled veggies to start. The restaurant week menu included a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert for $45 a person. For appetizers we chose fresh onion soup and long stemmed artichoke. Both were excellent and flavorful. For entrees we got the petite filet mignon with lobster bisque sauce and Angus with peppercorn sauce, MR for both along with mashed potatoes and accompanying side vegetable. Our steaks were each cooked perfectly and both were tender and flavorful. Neither steak needed any sauce (which comes on the side) but I really did love the richness of the lobster bisque sauce on some pieces and the mashed potatoes. The asparagus and spinach were both perfectly cooked and went so well with each steak. We took time to thoroughly enjoy all and never felt rushed. Portions sizes were generous. We barely had room for dessert so shared a piece of cheesecake with strawberries and loved it. Service was professional and attentive and we left full and happy. I would definitely recommend Blackstone's and look forward to a return visit with friends and family. read more

Amazing is the only word that comes to mind for this restaurant. My daughter, son in law and I went to Blackstones for Restaurant Week. The first thing I can say is the restaurant is light, airy, has plenty of seating and very clean (even the restroom). This is very important in this time of Covid. The wait staff was also very good, they offered suggestions on their entrees and checked on us numerous times to see if we were ok. For Restaurant Week dinner menu you get a choice of one appetizer, one main and one dessert. We started with drinks. I ordered a moscow mule and let me tell you it was one of the best ones that I've had in a restaurant in awhile. I started with the Mussels, my daughter had the calamari and my son in law had the meatballs and the lobster bisque soup. The mussels and calamari were delicious. I liked that the calamari was not fried too hard or was overly greasy. The mussels were in a garlicky broth that was very good. I didn't taste the meatballs, my son in law said they were good but he didn't care for the lobster bisque soup. For main course I had the lobster ravioli at the recommendation of our server. Absolutely amazing! There was lobster in each bite of the ravioli and it was in a creamy sauce that was really good. My daughter had the seared scallops with cauliflower in a vinaigrette. Again, amazing! The scallops were perfectly cooked as they weren't tough and the vinaigrette was good. My son in law had the rigatoni bolognese and he said it was good. For dessert we had the cheesecake and the chocolate cake. Both were soooo good. The cheesecake was so creamy and decadent. The chocolate cake was moist. We were all stuffed by the time we left. If you want a good meal with great service I would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Blackstones Steakhouse is a great choice for a special night out whether it be a birthday, anniversary or date. It's not cheap but it's high quality with attentive service, a large dining room, and delicious food. For those not into steak they offer chicken, fish, and pasta options so there is really something for everyone. I've dined here many times but can safely recommend the filet mignon, the ceasar salad, mashed potatoes, spinach, and lobster bisque. The cheesecake, and carrot cake are delicious. I've sat at the bar but highly recommend the main dining room which is quite spacious. My only complaint is that recently the restaurant decided to put shades up to block the view of the kitchen which is a shame. I felt viewing the kitchen was a major attraction and offered a glimpse of fiery stoves and hussle and bussle. There seems to be fairly high turnover with the staff but all servers are very good. read more

We arrived for an early bar dinner and realized it was restaurant week. We ordered all theee courses The filet mignonette and angus steak were both cooked perfectly. The New England clam chowder was just as my grandmother used to make it. My guest had a beautiful banana foster that was amazing with lots of warm Carmel. I went there at 6 pm with my date, prior to an 8 pm show across the street at the Palace Theater. We were seated quickly. The waitress arrived 10 minutes later and took our drink order. 20 minutes later, we flagged her down and asked if we could have the drinks we ordered, possibly order food. She looked at us, confused. She asked what we ordered. We repeated our drink order. She nodded and took off. 20 minutes later, no drinks, no bread, no food order. 50 minutes just to get drinks. We order apps and main courses. Apps come out quickly, but are both VERY bad. The grilled octopus was a single, small tentacle, rubbery, flavorless and far from fresh [it had a bad odor]. The bacon slab was essentially salt-drenched, rubbery ham, mostly fat and sinew. It was terrible. Our main courses were equally bad. The gnocchi Bolognese was so salty that I took several bites and pushed it away. All I could taste was salt. The gnocchi were tiny and improperly cooked. My date's fish tartar was topped with cloyingly salty avocado cream, not fresh and flavorless. We ordered a 2nd round of drinks to wash the salt flavor away, but they never arrived [we were charged for them, though]. Bread arrived at 7:40, 100 minutes after we were seated and well after our dinner orders arrived. $220- for 2, and I left starving and thirsty. NEVER again! read more

We visited during restaurant week and had their prix fixe menu. The meatballs were cold. The arancini balls were ok, cheesy, good crust but had a slight taste of old oil. The ny strip steak wasn't seasoned but had a great sauce that made the experience way better. The filet mignon was over cooked. Truffle fries had a slight truffle flavor and wasn't crispy enough. The peach tart was also under fried and floppy. The service was extremely slow and our waiter was inattentive, was extremely thirsty with no one refilling our waters. read more

I ordered steak and the watiress put a couple of pieces on my plate - okay, weird but that's sort of a steak-house-y thing. She seemed to have trouble getting the steak plate on the table at the angle she wanted, which like, doesn't matter, but she kept at it, which I'm sure some lunatic manager told her to do. Then she started scooping creamed spinach onto my plate. Got weird. I asked her to stop and she kept at it. The rest of the staff, again, pleasant, but seemed in over their heads. Couldn't really describe menu items, and seemed to be tripping over each other - multiple waiters asked us multiple times if we wanted coffee or dessert, took a long time to get a bill, no offer of a 2nd round of drinks Venue: quite pleasant. A big, new-ish space, chic enough. Could ditch the TVs in the bar area though - for the level of expense, there should not be tvs playing. Food: I can only speak to the items I tried: Steak - a ribeye. Tasty, well cooked, perhaps a bit underseasoned. But I enjoyed it. Creamed spinach - enjoyable, perhaps a bit OVER seasoned - either with too much salt or too much grated parm. Brussel sprouts - sucked, overcooked but somehow with no crunch? Total miss Calamari (fried) - i like calamari in all its forms, so I enjoyed it. But i've def had crispier calmari. Price: The biggest issue. overpriced. 5 people came out to 346 dollars (pre-tip), and I was the only one who ordered steak, and as noted above, we only got one round of drinks. Overall, I don't regret going there, since I didn't choose it (friend's birthday). I wouldn't recommend it, but it you're invited there, you can have an okay experience. read more

I came here once before with a large group and sat in the private room and wasn't satisfied with the service or food but I thought since it was a large party my server could of just been frustrated and we also ordered from a set menu so I also thought that could of been a reason for my poor experience. I came back to try again and it still was a miss for me. My food was not hot it came out cold. My baked potato was not cooked all the way through and it looked like it had been sitting before making it to my table. The cheese on it was hard. My steak was okay. Cooked how l liked it but it still was just okay. I don't mind spending a lot of money to sit down and have dinner but not if the food isn't going to be cooked to perfection or at least hot when it gets to my table. It was my first time at Blackstones and I wasn't sure what to expect especially during a night with all the holiday parties going on and I was so excited to finally eat here. Willie Diamonds was our server and he was not only attentive but really made our dining experience so memorable by creating menu items we didn't know which to try so he made half and half in one single order so we didn't have to choose. My ribeye steak was delicious especially with the peppercorn sauce they have on the side. We were celebrating my husband getting a new job combined with our own early Christmas dinner. Complimentary bread and in house pickled vegies to start. For appetizers we chose fried calamari and oysters; both were delicious! Our entrée was 14oz filet and pan seared salmon to die for!!! Our drinks were made with love and tasted so good! The manager was friendly and chatted with all the customers. We even got a chance to talk with the chef!
