We tried the fried olives and they did not disappoint. We tried a few different cocktails and all were great! We will definitely be back!!

My friend and I were in town and decided to try this pub for a meal, despite the reviews we had…read moreread. First off, I want to say that Craighead County is really hurting small businesses. In this day and age, who still limits the sale of alcohol? I wanted to bring in my zero-sugar root beer, but none of the businesses allowed it due to these outdated, prohibition-style laws. When we arrived, we were the only customers, so we were seated immediately. After placing our orders, we waited a reasonable amount of time before my friend's salad arrived. However, he barely got halfway through his salad before our entrees came out--way too soon! My friend had ordered bangers and mash, but we couldn't help but laugh when the food arrived. The bangers were so dried out, it seemed like they'd either been microwaved or left in the deep fryer for too long. The potatoes looked fine, but my friend said they were completely flavorless. I ordered fish and chips, and it was awful. The fries were lukewarm, the coleslaw had an overpowering horseradish taste, and the fish was so greasy I couldn't eat it. I had to pick out the fish with a fork and leave the soggy, grease-soaked breading behind. There was literally a pool of grease on my plate. The saddest part? My first bite, which had a bit of everything, actually tasted great--but that didn't last. Somewhere I read that the pub describes itself as "a pub, not a restaurant." Believe them.

I have never patron an Irish pub that only had one beer on tap, Guinness…read more Looked to be 20 taps that had no handles. Only explanation was that it didn't work. The only alternative was domestic, bottled beer. Now, having read the prior reviews I don't think this is a one-off situation where I would say "give it a second chance."

Stopped into Flyway Brewing on a Saturday afternoon and was surprised by how quiet it was. The…read morerestaurant was clean, comfortable, and had the music at exactly the right volume present enough to create atmosphere without making conversation difficult. Nothing felt overwhelming or overdone, which made for a relaxed experience. The service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Water hit the table in under two minutes, and our beers arrived in less than five. That's the kind of efficiency every restaurant should strive for. Now for the food: * Cheese Curds ($8) - These arrived piping hot and fresh from the fryer. The curds themselves were crispy but fairly bland on their own. The ranch and Mimi's Red Sauce did a lot of the heavy lifting here and elevated the dish significantly. * Queso ($8, plus $2 for chorizo) - Very basic. Not bad, but not memorable either. It tasted like melted Velveeta with a little extra liquid mixed in. Perfectly edible, just lacking any standout flavor. * Pretzel ($6) - Easily one of the highlights of the meal. They accidentally brought us the espresso pretzel first before correcting it with the plain version we ordered. Surprisingly, both were excellent. Soft, fresh, and flavorful. * Smash Burger & Fries ($17) - The fries were fantastic: hot, crispy, fresh, and seasoned perfectly. The burger itself was average--exactly what you'd expect from a mid-range brewery restaurant. Good, but not something I'd specifically come back for. * Chicken Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries ($15) - The low point of the meal. The sweet potato fries were cold, stale, and honestly should never have left the kitchen. The chicken sandwich wasn't much better. The breading was overcooked to the point of tasting burnt, and there wasn't much flavor beyond that. * Bacon-Wrapped Quail Sliders - Another average offering. Not bad by any means, but nothing that stood out or justified ordering again. The beer is clearly the star of the show here. Flyway knows how to brew, and that's what would bring me back. The food ranges from good to disappointing, with only a few items really standing out. Overall: * Beer: 4/5 * Food: 2/5 * Service: 5/5 Flyway Brewing is worth visiting for the beer, atmosphere, and service. Eat because you're there, not because you're searching for an exceptional meal. If the kitchen can become as consistent as the brewery, this place could be something special.
