I visited this bar while in the area. It was bingo night so the place was pretty busy but we found a table to sit and got good service from our waitress. They offer a variety of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, chicken wings, and hotdogs that all came with your choice of fries, kettle chips or tater tots. Our food came out fast and hot. We orders burgers and they were very tasty! The tater tots were nicely fried and crispy. And for less than $15 I'd say they were awesome. Shortstop is your typical Minnesota bar with pull tabs, hockey, and plenty of beer flowing. Service is fairly attentive even when busy. The food isn't going to knock your socks off, and that's OK, but you could do worse. The wings were actually quite good - well cooked, crispy, solid flavor, and homemade ranch. The burger left a bit to be desired but that may possibly stem from other reviews indicating they were some of the best in the area (which I don't quite agree with). I have another review that's a bit different. Last month, I drove over to Shortstop Bar & Grill to pick up an order for pickles from Fire and Ice Pickles. Michelle is a server at this eatery and has a side pickle business. She has a few pickup locations. On this particular day, she was there in the afternoon. I headed over to pick up my order on my lunch break, which was roughly a 25-minute drive northbound from where I was in Bloomington. Her pickle business started when she made batches of pickles and shared them with customers at the restaurant. They were such a hit that she created her own business. Her pickles continue to be popular. It was easy finding the parking lot where she was. I parked my car and she came over to say hi. Before I left the hotel, we texted, so she knew that I was on my way. She was friendly and nice to chat with. I got my bottle of pickles and thanked her. She accepts cash only. Luckily, I had the exact amount with me. It took me just over a day to go through the entire bottle. Part of me felt that I should have got another bottle. Her pickles are tangy and garlicky, with a bit of heat that gets you at the end of crunching each pickle slice. I've never had anything quite like her pickles. So good! You basically place an order through a Google spreadsheet. The demand is high such that there's a one-month order backlog. I had to change my pickup date and time a handful of times due to timing pickup times with when I was in town. She was understanding and accommodating. I highly recommender her pickles. I am on her waiting list to place another order. I had thought about picking up food at this eatery while I was here. It serves burgers, tater tots, and more. I wasn't in the mood that day (weird, I know). I hope to place an order the next time I'm there and feel like a good burger. (67) read more

I ordered meals for a family birthday party November 29th, paying nearly $250. We ordered the food 2-3 hours in advance. When we picked up the order (on-time) and took it 10 minutes to our home, the food was extremely cold, as if it had been sitting out for hours. All of it. I called, with no answer, I sent two messages through the website, no response. It was so embarrassing. The sauce around them is heavy, but tastes great. 4/5 The works Bacon cheeseburger is no joke. It's one of the nicest looking hamburgers I have eaten. it was a little pink inside and had a little tasty fat grease that came out of it. 4.5/5 Tha bad: you do not get many bang bang shrimp, so it would be a nice appetizer to share between two people. If you share it with more than two people, then it feels like a tease and that's not very nice. The tater tots were slightly overdone. Tip: try parking on the side or back. Just wanted to say a friend and I went to short stop for the first time ordered a double shot from Jack. He was very nice. As we sat at the bar the food smelled and looked good over and over. We eventually ordered and the food was delicious compliments to the chefs. We decided to return the next day less than 24hrs from the first day. We didn't see Jack again(bartender from night before), so a lady asked for ID. We showed her the white paper which u use because you don't have your ID because you lost it. Only to not get served and for her to be rude at the same time. This is a Coon Rapids staple!! It's a real small local bar and usually is pretty packed after 4:00pm. I recommend ANY of the burgers, and YES you want the tots. The burgers take awhile because they are made fresh. The tots are always crispy and soooo much better than home tots... I don't know why! It can be a little loud because it's small and packs up pretty quickly. If you're in the area and want a delicious burger look no further.. this is your place. read more

A little on the salty side on the burgers ( must have added extra so as to sell more beer). The tater tots had a lot of salt on them as well. This is not normal for them they are usually very good. Meh service. Meh food. Meh specials. There is literally nothing worth noting about the place. Service is a toss up. Finding a spot to sit is a toss up - place is tiny and weirdly shaped yet they insist on packing it to the brim during bingo so you can hardly get around or hear your own thoughts. All the food comes out of a freezer and a tiny walk in, gets thrown in a deep fryer or on a dirty grill top. The wings are terrible, buffalo wings only come in a dry rub that tastes burnt. Everything about this place was mediocre to well below average. The service was poor, I can't even remember how long it took to get offered a beverage. We didn't order much but I almost regretted not giving her my order the first time she came around. I've heard from other people to come here for the burgers but I must say I was highly disappointed. I've had better burgers at fast food restaurants. (And heck, maybe even better service at those other places). The burger was over-cooked. The "Chicago style hot dog" was nothing like the types of hot dogs I've had in Chicago. Even the deep fried hot dog was over-fried and came out on a bun with onions sprinkled on top. I really don't like writing bad reviews, but here it is. This place is located off the beaten path in Coon Rapids. I'm lucky I brought my gps or I never would have found it. There is no sign on the building. Decor - generic sports bar in need of cleaning. Service - I am sure the staff means well, but the tables were not clean. Not just a crumb or two - I mean dirty. I tried to scrape my table off with a napkin upon sitting down. When the server arrived they noted the napkin and picked it up but did not even wipe the table. Seriously? Food - We ordered appetizers. Boneless wings and Poppers. They were the generic out of the freezer variety that you can buy at the store. Prepackaged dipping sauces. Basically just "phone it in" bar food. Beer - domestic selections. They had Grain Belt Nordeast - worth a 2nd star. Wait time can be long for food, but the drinks are usually cheap - just show up knowing you'll be hanging out for awhile.
