We have been faced with many disappointments. 1.Delays: -Our first mistake was taking Peter as a man of his word, as he liked to advertise. We were advised to only sign a short term lease as the pre-construction schedule was allegedly on track. Two extensions at that apartment for 18 months and an Airbnb for a month with another extension later, we found none of this to be true. We were contracted to be completed 8-10 months (projected April to June of 2020) and covid wasn't used as an excuse for delays until February of 2021. We finally closed May 28 2021. We knew there were going to be small punch list items but we had no idea that as of January 2022, a lot of these issues have not even been addressed. At our final walkthrough, Peter had told us they will be completed in no more than 30 days despite us offering up to 90 days for our addended contract. 242 days later we are still not done with initial punch list and don't even have a schedule for when people are to come despite him promising a schedule to our attorney back in October. These delays are despite several other builders starting homes on our block after ours and finishing them before ours with limited delays. We found out that some of these delays are due to Peter not paying subcontractors. 2. Does not pay subcontractors: One subcontractor went as far as emailing us to ask for help in reaching Blake/Peter for payment in order to complete our home while another sent us a lien notice to our home for lack of payment. Peter and his team seemed unbothered by these delays and responded with condescending texts towards the subs and jokes. Messages and comments made in person that we don't even feel comfortable repeating. 3. Having to literally pay to correct their mistakes: -We had $10,000 of out of pocket expenses to correct their mistakes and due to lack of communication as calculated by our lawyer. 4. Lack of communication: -Subs would come to our home in attempt to complete punch list items without the appropriate materials, unable to complete their work as the builder provided wrong or incomplete supplies for it. -We had to be tented for wood termites found in our neighbors unit who we share a wall with. Causing both units requiring tenting. The builder didn't notify us, our neighbor did. 5. Poor workmanship/lack of professionalism: -There is complete neglect for our home. Our turf has been painted on, our furniture left uncovered and home entered without permission or knowledge. -We've had leaking windows despite the "fix" for 5 months. -Peter's employees talked about us to subcontractors. We know this because whenever we met subcontractors or other employees from Blake building, they would tell us, "you're not as bad as they made you out to be". They have also accidentally sent texts about us to us... 6. Lack of accountability/awareness: -It was often the case during the build process that we would have to notify Peter and Blake building that there were issues with the home well before they were aware of them. On site visits, we would attempt to discuss smaller issues with the subcontractors and Peter in attempt to prevent them from growing larger and having to pay to correct them only to be told by Peter that it was either not the case or asking why were there. There was never any attempt at resolution or prevention. His team would be the ones to provide us the code to the home during construction and allow visits for this very reason. -Delays were also blamed on us because of our work schedules. Our one request was that we be provided a schedule so that we could accommodate all punch repairs. We would get text in the evening about people coming the next morning despite repeatedly asking for a heads up to appropriately plan. Despite this request, we would change our schedules or have family come to open and be in the home for repairs and nobody would show up without even a text from Blake building notifying us about this until we had to ask what was going on. -We had to hire a lawyer who notified Peter of the neglect, breech of contract, and civil theft statute he was in blatant violation of but he is so far removed that he assumed unrealistic timelines and still has not completed the home 8 months later. Our new home feels like a remodel with the amount of work and time it has taken to get the essentials completed. Blake will overpromise & underdeliver with significant delays, with no accountability or apologies for any of the delays or significant issues we've had with our home. Get EVERYTHING in writing as that is the only accountability you will get from this company. We have had to advocate & fight for ourselves since September 2019. Tampa Bay has many other excellent builders, do not waste your time, resources, and money on this builder. read more

WAAAAAYYYYYYY overpriced. I'm not sure if they quoted me to do work I hadn't asked for or what but they wanted to charge thousands more than other places. You're better off looking for smaller companies or going to Home Depot or Lowes for your house needs. Had them quote installing a countertop and their price was easily $2000 more than the home improvement stores. I asked them to do a minor chimney, soffetting, and exterior steps repair and they quoted me $9000! They seem to have included replacing all of the gutters on my house which are in perfectly good condition for NO REASON. DO NOT ACCEPT THEIR RIDICULOUS PRICES! I am now getting the same chimney, soffetting, and steps repaired for under $1000. It was a VERY small fix. They have very nice people working for them and they were very helpful but that does not justify having 8x the cost. GO ELSEWHERE read more

Blake and his team did a fantastic job on remodeling our guest bathroom. They are patient and satisfy all of our requirements. They are very flexible on designs and material selections. They charge reasonable price. They will be our first choice for indoor and outdoor jobs in the future. read more

Really amazing customer service from day 1 to the finish of the project. Really professional work. My staircase came out as beautiful as it can be and have gotten many many compliments on it. YES. I contacted Blake Building to work on a roof replacement for my home. At the time, I had active leaks in my roof and, as you can imagine, it was a period of relatively high stress. Blake was very responsive and we were able to set up an initial appointment quickly. From that time forward, my stress disappeared as Blake assisted in every step of the process, including the recommendation of the perfect shingle color. We were able to schedule the roof replacement for the very next week (awesome) and his team knocked the job out in 2 days (with an additional 1/2 day of clean-up, final touches, etc). Blake's team was friendly, professional, and did an excellent job. Things didn't stop there, as Blake continued to follow up, ensuring that the job was done right and that my satisfaction was nothing short of 100%.
