Update: I thought this was a standard repair and that they did an OK job even though they let the car get robbed and vandalized while in their possession AND didn't compensate me for my losses BUT, with all the heavy rain this winter I discovered that they must not have properly sealed the windshield, as I found drops of water INSIDE my windshield, which have now led to a terrible smell of mold in my car. WOW. I went to this shop because of the good reviews, but I couldn't be more unhappy with my experience with Blakes. The smell is not going away and is awful-- it's like my car is ruined, I hate having to drive because of the strong mold smell inside of it. Negative 10 stars for Blakes. read more

It's a long story but it concerns a stolen catalytic converter on a 2004 Prius that was just undergoing a registration change to our daughter who was moving in 2 weeks and needed the car. So yeah. Bad timing all around. Some credit goes to State Farm because they paid for it (but I think there was a negotiation in there because, I mean, "insurance company") but most of the communication and the "get it done" was by Blake. I've used Blake's for years for auto body work and they are always on time, great work and delivery is good. They have your rental car waiting at their front door so no time wasted waiting at the shop. Very efficient office operation and they will correct anything without charge if you don't like. I recently checked in at Blake's and was amazed to see I haven't reviewed it yet! We've been Blake's customers for a dozen years, since we first moved up to the North Bay and I backed my car into my wife's Porsche (yes, banged up both cars at the same time). The staff at Blake's was more than understanding (even though they did make fun of my blunder a bit), and worked to save me some money especially since I didn't want to put a claim in for my stupidity. Since then, they've worked on three cars for us, and always underpromise and overdeliver on every job. For example, most recently I brought my aging SUV in - the passenger window wouldn't operate at all. Although they explained it was probably the regulator, which would need to be replaced for $$$, when I returned the next morning I was informed the window had just come off the track and they easily fixed it for just a small labor charge! Would I have paid a couple hundred more for the part? Absolutely. Have they once again earned my eternal loyalty with their integrity and honesty? Yup, that's about it. They're here in Novato. On two occasions over a period of 3 years, my car came back to me with grease stains on the carpet or interior, and the job was not complete. I had to go back on the first occasion, and I still don't have the wheel hub insurance paid for the second time. Wow this place is a total rip off. I won't go into detail regarding the story i was given about the length they had to go to fix a three dents in one door of the car. But in summary they basically claimed they needed to take apart nearly my entire car - my advice is get additional quotes. I went elsewhere and the price was half and the door looks great. read more

Blake's did an extremely poor repair job manages by Fernando and ignored by Troy promising me car would be better than factory paint. This took time to investigate lack of care and work on my newly purchased car. Reported to bureau and they have violations on the paperwork. Fernando refused to acknowledge poor workmanship on my vehicle. Mark , the owner, claims car was returned in pre accident condition, and that my eyes are The problem, under these circumstances car was returned with array of problems costing time and money to recognize catastrophic repairs and damage to my vehicle. 1. DEAD battery, $300 . No one in town could replace battery, stranded twice 2. HEADLIGHT, first installed wrong headlight then replaced with correct headlight with SCRATCHES, and it is derfective headlight never inspected after install and beams not adjusted caused burnt lense. $1500 replacement. 3. Bad WHEEL ALIGNMENT factory set off and tech noted , bad right tire pulling, causing two front tires to be Replaced. Torqued to the right. Had to have other shop check all the suspension, torque to find cause and paid And three days off work. $150 plus $75. 4, PAINT TRANSPARENCY , variety of mismatched patchwork blending lacking color , clear coar and standard shop factory . lack of paint on doors, *confirmed by three reputable authorized paint shops 2 local 1 Vacaville dealership auto shop. $10, 000. Custom shops i town agree color is mismatched. 5. DAmage. Runners, trim, poor assembly. Pride unknown 6. Right door does not close causing rain to leak in window 7. Part missing from State Farm claim with written IOU. reminded Troy several times. Unknown price but I have to take a day off work to replace at dealer. 8. New front tires $350 from ear and tear. H and J tire tech said he j ew it was a bad tire, They had this car six weeks. Dismissve and unprofessional group of employees and owners lack of 100 percent binding agreement. 'I will post my photos soon. car returned dead, battery failed twice on my hybrid. Dangerous and key fob not recognized. I was stranded twice after checking health of battery they never trickled charge it in the six weeks. They obviously killed it did a quick charge and it died in hours of pick up. Owner dignoted this first obvious issue. Right tre pulling. Had to call tire place , wheel alignment not set to factory and ignored technician noted that the car was pulling to the right. There is one main reason I use Blake's, and his name is Troy. It's his honesty, integrity and amazing customer Service that keeps me coming back. Yes, Blake's does great body work, but customer service is everything, especially when dealing with a stressful car accident. I have four teenagers and unfortunately this means I've used Blake's more times than I can count. Each time I have asked to deal with Troy, because I know he will do his best to fix the situation with as less stress on me as the customer as possible. I have also referred many friends, who have all been completely satisfied. Here is an example of why I will always be a customer as long as Troy is there. After I returned home with my last car repair, a couple pieces were loose. I came back to the shop a couple weeks later on a weekend to see if they could fix the problem. An older gentlemen came out and actually hinted to the fact that it may have been something I did. I said to myself "really, on the exact panel that was just repaired". I was actually thinking that if this isn't resolved I might have to change shops. Anyway, I asked him when Troy would be in and returned later. As usual, Troy was amazing!! He took a look, apologized, ordered the part and fixed everything without any hesitation. This guy is the real deal. Although I informed Blake's that my insurer would reimburse my deductible, they would hear none of that and before releasing my car, they insisted I pay my $500 deductible. That was 1 week ago. I now received a call informing me that they also received payment from my insurer, but that it would take at least a week to get processed because the reimbursement was coming from another office. They push an electronic review post work suggesting that you give them favorable reviews. The car was kept 2 extra business (4extra days including a weekend). I'm wondering if they're taking on more than they can deliver. I'm passing this on to my insurer, as well. read more

Blake's Auto Body has worked on my car four times and each time I am pleasantly surprised (although at this point, I shouldn't be, given my past experiences). They are high quality service, reasonably priced and customer satisfaction oriented. I generally don't write reviews, but after today's experience, they deserve it. Prius tail lights out. Toyota quoted me $600 to replace the entire chassis. Gus @ Blake looked at it. Said the bulbs were all that needed to be replaced. No charge for the bulbs. No charge for the service. In and out in 10 minutes, $600 saved. Paying them back w/ appropriate PR. Never have been to a body shop that's more interested in my happiness vs. their bottom line. Not looking forward to my 5th car problem, but grateful that Blake's will be there. HIGHLY recommended! read more

I guess my review didn't get posted so I'm writing a shorter, less eloquent one. My experience at Blake's was terrible. Allstate sent me there for an estimate after one of their clients hit me. Long story short, Mike filled out the paperwork on two separate occasions. On both those occasions, he not only didn't give Allstate the paperwork but he LIED to them and said I never even showed up! He did this TWICE!! Why would he fill the papers out then tell the insurance company that I cancelled on him? So after almost 4 months of trying to get paid for my car, the Allstate rep finally spoke to the manager at Blake's. When the rep got back to me he said he won't be sending anybody to Blake's anymore after they did this to me. I gotta say I agree with that decision. After getting into a scrape with another car, their insurance, Geico, took full responsibility for the damage to my car. Geico sent us to G&C in San Rafael for the estimate. We stopped by to check the place out and didn't receive a very warm reception, to say the least. At this point, my husband, who used to be a detailer for RAB Mercedes (among others), remembered that Blake's had a good reputation for doing quality work. I'm glad he made that suggestion, and so is he! We have an Oldsmobile SUV that is out of production and not easy to get parts for. Furthermore, my husband wanted to be sure the work and especially the paint job were up to his standards. To make a long story short, he couldn't see a difference! The paint blends perfectly and even though parts were not available anywhere on the West Coast, Mike Y. called around and located a fender and side molding for us. He even got the molding overnighted when they realized the original wouldn't go back on right. Kudos to Mike and Fernando and the other staff at Blake's for going the extra mile and getting my car back to me in three days! read more

I was read-ended boooo! So I asked who my friends recommended for body work and they all (all) said Blake's. That is a great sign. I called and was told to just pop in for an estimate and so I did. They are on a dead end street in Novato right near downtown, super convenient. They are also a preferred shop per USAA (my insurer) but I was going through the other parties insurance (Nationwide) still that made me feel safer. Estimate was written in about 15 minutes and I made an appointment for two weeks out, they are really busy. That wasn't a problem. Dropped my car off on a Monday and it was done on a Wednesday, it looks amazing. I had daily updates via email and phone which was a nice touch. It made it seem really personal, they also took care of all the paperwork. That is really nice. They have a nice lobby with a water feature and coffee and things. Nice to have a place to chill. I have a 2020 Kia Telluride. Sadly I was rear ended....The new cars have all these sensors and electronic gizmos and lots of them were totaled since there are several sensors in the rear of the car. I really wish I had a 1965 car with ZERO electronic features! Fortunately I had Fernando who made sure the car was absolutely perfect when it was returned to me. We had a great experience at Blake's Auto Body. I did some minor body damage to our car, but even minor damage is expensive to fix. While Blake's wasn't the lowest estimate we received, our insurance company preferred to have them do the work. I sure am glad they steered us in this direction. The office at Blake's is clean and spacious. The staff is friendly and professional. The guy who did the evaluation of our car really talked me through why certain items cost what they did, and realistically how much time it would take to make the repairs. I felt that I was being dealt with fairly and honestly. Since we work long hours, Blake's allowed us to drop off our car in their lot before they opened for the day. This was very convenient and helpful. The repairs were completed on the exact day that Blake's said they would be, and they processed all the insurance paperwork for us. We didn't have to do anything-- it was very easy and stress-free. Then, when we were trying to figure out how to pick up the car during business hours (who leaves work early? what about the car seat for the little one?), Blake's offered to simply drive the car to our house. This saved us so much trouble and I really appreciated it. I feel like Blake's went above and beyond for us during the entire experience with them. Hopefully I will not damage our car again, but if it happens I know where I will take it. I highly recommend Blake's! read more

These guys are great. My son's car was in a fender bender, they did a great job on the repairs, took care of all the insurance paperwork. The car started acting up a couple days after we picked it up, Blake's took it in and diagnosed it free of charge. Turned out to be the battery wasn't holding a charge. Blake's installed a new Interstate battery free of charge. Now that's service! Thank you Fernando for all you've done and all you do! I will always recommend Blake's. I tried G&C once, it was the worst experience of my life, I turned them in to BBB, got a $480 refund. That's how bad they were. So thank you again Blake's! read more

I went to Blake's after the driver side front panel of my Honda Odyssey was dented in by the Shell car wash at Novato Blvd. (thank you Danville Petroleum Inc. dba Shell). The professional at Blake's provided me with a reasonable repair estimate which included replacing the panel and repainting it with the door. Then they said that they could try to pull the panel out with a tool. I told them to give it a try; what did I have to lose? And after their best technician strategically used his crowbar... the panel assumed about 90% of its original shape, which was acceptable to me. Our car was hit and damaged by a piece of metal on the road that the car in front of us hit and then it flew into our vehicle. This is as good as it gets, as far as I'm concerned. Troy was wonderful. Friendly, efficient, fast service as a fair price. They did a great job replacing a broken fuel door and painting it, and doing it with a minimum of hassle for me. They were on time with their appointments (or even early) and so pleasant to work with, that they would be the first place I would go if need auto body work done on my automobile. I've stopped by there a couple of times and both times left incredibly impressed with the manner they conduct business. I had a mishap with scissors and leather upholstery about a year ago, while Blake's couldn't help me with this particular issue, they were very helpful. They referred me to another shop that specializes in upholstery. Last week I had a little mishap parking in my spot at home, which is a tough one to park in. The front bumper was hanging half off, and there was a lot of paint transfer. After it happened I was so sad and mad at myself and I figured I'd look up what was most popular. I saw on Yelp! that they were highest rated, and I remembered my experience, but at the moment I couldn't remember the name. I figured it was the same one once I saw the address. So the next morning before work I went over to the shop and told the guy working what happened. I expected to wait...but even though he seemed to be the only guy working and he *still* came out with me and immediately helped me with my car. 10 minutes later (if even) he had popped the bumper back into place and buffered off the paint transfer. NO CHARGE. I was blown away and so relieved. Granted there's still a little corner that comes loose, but I definitely can't complain. Next time I have ANY kind of issue, body work wise, I would not hesitate going back to Blake's. read more

Fernando (the mgr.) just spent 30 mns. doing touch-up paint work on my car free of charge! I had a huge chunk of paint missing from someones door scraping the side of my car so I brought in my touch-up paint I had gotten from the dealer and figured I'd leave it there, they would do their best and then I'd pick it up later. Instead Fernando walked out with me and immediately took it to the back while I waited and painted in, not only the section I had come in for, but also various other nicks and scratches that were on different sections of the car. He also buffed out some funky white scratches that drove me crazy on the hatchback section. Amazing customer service. Just smiled when I asked how much I owed him and sent me on my way. I ordered him a pizza for lunch from Stefano's for all of his help. Couldn't be more impressed. read more
