I've often thought that new cars attract accidents, and now I know it's true. My brand new 2014 Prius V was hit twice within a few months (once by a bicycle that ran into me!) In both cases, Blake's did the body work and in both cases I was extremely impressed. But now they've added another gold star. A month after the body work was done, I noticed that my antenna was missing. Though I had been remarking on the bad reception I was getting, I didn't even check the roof! I called to see if Blake's had found one. They hadn't, but Troy said they might have taken it off to wash the car, so they would replace it for me. But, I'd moved to Santa Cruz, which made it extremely inconvenient for me. He offered to have me replace it, then send Blake's the bill. Now that's personalized service. Just had my car repaired at Blake's autobody. I worked with Mason mostly, but the entire staff was fantastic and made the whole experience flawless. These guys are real pros, the car looks great after the work. But beyond that, Mason took the time to give me multiple bids so I could choose different options, helped me work with my insurance to get the maximum settlement, referred and coordinated with a detailer to fix a problem that didn't need a body shop, and at the end, told me the repair actually cost less than the bid. It's evident to me that they're not out to make money in the short term, but to earn lifetime customers and referrals. read more

After getting side swiped, I took my Celica to Blake's.Gus was great and went over and above explaining how to deal with the insurance company. Even though the damage was minor, the insurance company wanted to total the vehicle due to age (2002). Blake's fixed the car at a very fair price. The car looks like new. They also explained the salvage process and DMV. Gus called me at home at least 3 times keeping me abreast of the insurance company and appraisers. The car was ready when promised. Blake's in Novato is by far the best auto body shop I have ever used. Ever. Fortunately I haven't had to have much body work done over the years, but when I have, Blake's never lets you down. Today, I went in to have my front bumper, something I had repaired there previously, looked at as it was dragging partially. There was some damage to the underside of the bumper and it had become unclipped. The manager, Fernando, came right out, looked at it and said, "No problem, we'll take care of that for you right now." I was in shock. Not 10 minutes later, it was ready to go. No charge. These guys stand behind their work,are friendly, fast....just awesome. No one wants to need body work...but when you do, only go to Blake's in Novato. read more

I had a terrific experience with Blake's auto body: Service all around was kind, professional, with excellent updating/communication. I worked with Troy, and he was exceptional. The repair itself was faster than expected, and great quality. Blake's is on State Farm's preferred list, which made billing very easy. I gave these guys one star because there was no option for zero! I took my car to Blakes following an accident covered by my insurance. There was damage to the passenger side front quarter and wheel. When I got the car back it had developed a leak that appeared to come from the door sill. Troy said that he thought it was leakage from the moon roof and that they would take care of it. When I got the car back it was a while before it rained again but sure enough the leak was still there. Again I took the car back to Blakes, after all they had told me their work had a lifetime guarantee only to be told by them that this was a common problem with my brand of vehicle and not their fault, even though the leaking had never happened before. I took my vehicle in for an estimate today. A paint scrape caused by a minor parking lot hit and run. Much to my surprise, the estimator had some "magic" potion that removed the other vehicles embedded paint and didn't harm mine. Blake's Auto Body made my day today! I was rear-ended at a stop light while driving my mother's car (it figures--it had to be my mother's car instead of mine, right?) by a fairly new driver. She is one of three young daughters, and her mother asked that we attempt to do the repair out-of-pocket to avoid a hike in her already exorbitant insurance rates, which I was happy to do. The damage appeared to be minimal, but the car is a lease and the repair needed to be made. My appointment was at 11:00am. I walked out the door by 11:15am with my bumper rebolted, and trunk adjusted so it could open and close properly and they didn't charge me a penny. Blake's did a terrific job of repairing out car. It looked really good. They were also a huge pleasure to work with (the particular staff member we worked with, Fermando, was particularly great). Also, because it was an older car, there was an issue of whether the repairs would be more than the value of the car (and thus our insurance would pay the value and force us to junk the car). During my most recent repair, there was an oversight that resulted in an expensive part being omitted from the estimate Blakes provided to me. When the final cost was tallied, it was over $100 more than the repair estimate.
