I would give more than five stars for the service I received today. I took a minor hit on my back bumper. It seemed like an easy repair but I'm not an expert and I'm used to these things being a much bigger issue with time and money. They assessed it and honestly told me they could do a simple repair on the spot. I had my car back ten minutes later. Title: Felt Exploited--Unrealistic Quote, Refused to Honor Customer Request (1 out of 5 Stars) My experience here was deeply disappointing. I came in for an estimate after my car was vandalized. The shop quoted me over $20,000 for a paint job on a vehicle that is worth, at most, $8,000. I had the motor replaced two years ago for under $12,000, at Mercedes of Marin, who have extremely high fees..so this quote is clearly absurd. I strongly suspect they were willing to overcharge simply because I am a woman and saw an opportunity to take advantage of the situation. Because the quote was so unethical, I chose to take my car elsewhere and specifically requested that they do not submit the $20,000 estimate to my insurance. They refused, claiming they were forced to submit the inflated cost to my insurer. This lack of respect for my request and the willingness to generate an estimate that triples the value of my car is unacceptable. Avoid this shop. read more

They repaired the body damage fine but when they put the electronics back together they did a lousy job. I did not know why my turn signals were not working so I took the truck to a dealership, paid $470 to find out they rewired the control module wrong. They refused to compensate me because I did not bring it back to them first, but how was I to know what was wrong because nothing that was repaired involved electronics. read more

The estimate process was very quick and easy. The shop is very professional. After the estimate, I scheduled a time to come back to get the work done. They did the repairs and got my car back very quickly. The front desk staff was very pleasant to deal with and answered all my questions. This review is solely on my interaction with an estimator, I did not get any work done due to the service I received during the estimate. I made an appointment to get a quote for the repair of my vehicle. Upon arriving, the first thing this individual asks is the amount of my deductible. I ignore his question, politely asking for my quote. He continues to ask for my deductible amount and suggests I ask the person who hit me to pay for the damage. I continue to redirect him to give me a quote, I'm not at the shop asking for advice on how to pay for this repair. He then asks "why do you need a quote?". He is clearly trying to find out how much money the deductible is so he can base the estimate and bump it up from there. He finally agrees to provide me with a quote but states the price most likely will be more and that parts will need to be ordered. Upon asking clarifying questions about the parts, he then changes the story. No parts will be ordered, the existing door and rim will be repaired and made to look brand new. Since this individual seemed unethical, I decided to take my car somewhere else. read more

When our insurance company evaluated our older mini-van (2011 Kia Sedona) after our accident as repairable, I was concerned because no one from the insurance company actually came out to look at it. They just looked at the pictures and videos that I took. So, I decided to bring the vehicle over to G&C, who had done great work for us in the past. Elden did a more thorough estimate and sent it to the insurance company, who then declared it totalled, which was really the best solution. We were able to take the money and add just a little to pay cash for a replacement vehicle (a 2012 Kia Sedona that is in perfect shape). We use our vans for our non-profit food program (Respecting Our Elders) here in Marin. Even though G&C did not get any business out of this process, we will definitely recommend them to others, and use them ourselves should the need arise. Thanks, Elden! read more

I am incredibly disappointed in my experience. All I needed was a mirror replaced. I even gave them the original casing. My estimate was for $427. I come to pick up my car and they want $500 now. Car was supposed to be ready at 12. It is now 3:45pm and they never cleaned my car and charged me for a service I didn't ask for which was repainting the casing to my mirror. I did not agree and sign off on this. Additionally they left my window open in the rain and my seat is completely soaked. See the photo. I texted Collin multiple times and he never replied. I called twice and he was too busy to talk to me. Then I show up and they try and charge me for something I didn't even agree to. I dropped it off at 8am for a mirror to be fixed. Too bad I can only rate 5 stars... After a door ding at a sporting event my insurance company referred me to a local autobody shop however the wait was too long. I found G & C and lucky me, they were an approved vendor! From appointment setup to car pick up everyone at G & C Novato came through! They even arranged my rental! Their work is flawless, the color fade matched perfectly and my door looks amazing. I don't recall the gals name at the front counter but she is a multitasking ninja! They are non-stop busy. Walk-in appointments, constant phone calls, etc. Every time I've gone in she has been professional, courteous, and friendly. I ended up having a quarter window replaced by them after my door dent. I contacted G&C Auto Body last week to get an estimate on my Chevy volt. It had recently sustained some damage from someone hitting it parked. Overall, my experience with G&C was fantastic. The service was above five stars. Eric is extremely knowledgeable, and friendly. He kept me informed throughout the whole process. I dropped my car off on Monday 7/13 and received it Thursday 7/16. It was a quick turnaround. The place itself was clean and sanitized. The receptionist was polite on the phone as well as in person. I sent this message to G&C tonight. We'll see how they respond. Hello, I am writing to tell you about my tremendous disappointment with my experience at G&C. My Tesla 3 was in an accident on 9/1/21. I brought the vehicle to your Novato store on 9/2/21 and Collin Davis did the intake and provided me with an estimate. Collin said the parts would be ordered but that he could not provide updates on when the parts would be available because he did not know and Tesla does not keep him or the customer updated. He explained there were significant delays getting parts during the pandemic, which made sense to me, so I decided to wait patiently and not be the pushy customer who was constantly calling for updates. I believed that Collin would keep me updated and we would get the car fixed as soon as possible. On 12/10 I called G&C to inquire about the status of the parts order and was told that Collin would call me back. I did not hear back from him. On 1/3/22, I called G&C Novato again to inquire about the parts status and Collin told the employee I was speaking with that he wasn't sure whether the back windshield could be ordered or if it needed to go to a full collision shop. Once again I did not speak directly with Collin. This information is something that would have been good to know at the outset, and it made me suspicious of how my repair was being handled. On 1/3 I stopped by the San Rafael Tesla shop and spoke with Shane. I described my situation and he offered to speak with the parts manger on my behalf to see if they cold check and expedite the parts order. He expressed confusion over how G&C was handling the repair and communication about the parts order. Shane said that they often worked closely with Anthony's Auto. On 1/3 I went to Anthony's Auto for an estimate. They provided it to me and said they would work closely with Tesla to secure the necessary parts. I received updates from Tesla on 1/10 and again on 1/19 based on the parts order from Anthony's. As we speak most of the parts are in. I am writing to you so that you can correct this issue, if you are inclined to do so. I will not recommend your services to anyone and if asked I would discourage others from bringing their vehicle to any of your shops. Needless to say, I will seeking my repairs at Anthony's. read more

I've been hit twice both accidents I incurred over $5k in damage to my vehicle. I have used G&C in Novato to fix my 2016 Tacoma, in both cases they have done an excellent job brining my truck back to like-new factory condition. This last time Elden Lew helped take care of my Tacoma, replacing much of the front end. He even brought my truck to my house as I had not way of picking it up (he really went way above and beyond what I was expecting). He not only fixed my truck like new but also checked all the error codes and monitored to see if any errors were triggered by the accident that may not be seen. He thoroughly went through the entire car using a computer to identify things that may not be visible or apparent. I am extremely particular and notice imperfections, I can not spot any and my truck is literally as good as it was the day it came off the showroom floor. So our family had taken bets on how long after she got her license it would take for my 16 year old daughter to crash her car. Sadly, we don't remember who predicted two months. Wow - G & C Auto Body, Nino and all the staff I met provided a high level of service I'd never have expected from an auto repair business! And!! The repair job on my car is spectacular - you'd never know anything had ever happened to it! (which is especially great since my Tahoe is brand new!) My brand new Tahoe (only had it 3 months!!) needed body work after someone bashed into it in a parking lot and then took off rather than take responsibility. Talk about a bummer - the last thing you want is your brand new car damaged, and then have to pay for the deductible to get it fixed because the person who did it took off. I was quite distressed about the whole thing and really didn't want to have to deal with the mess of arranging body work, getting a rental and all the hassle. State Farm gave me 4 body shops to choose from and the first one I called in Mill Valley - as it's close to me - the receptionist was abrasive and unfriendly...essentially dictating the terms of "how it will go" at their shop and with the insurance. This just further depressed me and I geared myself up for having an overall unpleasant experience but hoping to find the least unpleasant body shop that I could. I originally had G & C Novato last on the list because it's the farthest from me, but the next two on the list didn't open till 10 so I called Novato G&C since they were already open. I'm REALLY glad I did! Nino took my call and was super friendly and helpful, and once I told him I needed the work done asap he was able to squeeze me in that morning for an estimate, and then ordered the parts that afternoon so they could start the next day. They helped sort out an issue with Enterprise when I was having challenges with pick up and drop off of the rental car and were super communicative throughout the 3 day process, giving me daily updates. After they finished the work they took my Tahoe to Matt & Jeff's for a detailed car wash and inside cleaning which was a special treat and unexpected. EVERYONE there seemed to bend over backwards trying to be helpful and accommodating. There wasn't one person I interacted with that wasn't super friendly and helpful. I was recommended to G&C by my auto insurance AAA. One thing that caught my attention is that the work has a lifetime warranty . I called the Petaluma shop and they did not have an appointment for over a week, but they referred me to the Novato shop. That worked great they had an opening the next day! From the time of the accident to the time of drop off was under 24 hours. The staff was very pleasant which helped make this situation better. From Nikki who took my call, to Jorge who followed up with me, it went very smooth. They called the car rental company for me and had them come get me. The estimate of time ran a little long but that was just a matter of getting the parts and finding a little more damage. When it was done I was able to just leave the rental there. The truck looks great and they detailed it inside and out. I would definitely go there again and recommend them. read more
