All I can tell you is that Mark Blake stands behind the work his company does regardless of how the manufacturer may have screwed up. Without going into to too much detail he called me and told me an issue I had with a just recently out of warranty failure would be covered by him and he would go after the manufacturer after the fact. Service like that does't come often but when it does it makes you a lifelong customer. read more

If I could leave 6 stars I would!! We just moved to Davis and had to have the 1985 HVAC in our house replaced. Everyone recommended Blake's. They were very responsive, Mark personally came out to estimate, and provided us with a fair quote that had a few different options so we can decide what works best based on our needs. Kaitlin was great on email, clarified some questions, and got us scheduled. On the day of our install, Blake's showed up on time, everyone was professional, completed the work, and did a great job cleaning up. But did you know they worked on dryer vents too?! After getting our washer and dryer installed, we discovered that our dryer vent did not go outside. The vent caused the dryer to overheat and get stop working. Also since this is a gas dryer, this means carbon monoxide is being released into the attached garage we go in and out of many times during the day. How this was missed by our home and city inspection, I have no idea!! After we realized that many of the companies that work on dryer vents are actually HVAC companies, we called Blake's (and yes we actually used the little magnet they gave us to find the number :-) Turns they do work on dryer vents too which was good news given we had a positive experience with our HVAC. Jean got a message to Brian, their General Manager, who came by when he was done with other work, and they managed to get us in the same day when one of their HVAC jobs ended early. Blake's has not only earned our trust but our gratitude - we thank everyone at Blake's for being so great to work with and doing great work. This is as good as it gets -- we bought a Lennox furnace and an A/C unit from Blakes over 20 year period and were treated very well. After 14 years our A/C unit stopped running last week as temps headed over 100 degrees. Although Blakes had hundreds of service calls, Mark and Tom took the time to help me diagnose and fix my unit. I scheduled a service and was thrilled they could come same day. My husband came home from work in Sacramento to sit and wait during the 2 hour window. They never showed. I called the next day and was told they overlooked the job and could reschedule but they could not come in the late afternoon the only time I could be there due to an appointment because that would be an after hours charge. I asked if they would be willing to waive the charge since we already took time off work to wait for them and was told "no we can't do that" even though it was their mistake the day before. Last week I had the ac capacitor replaced by technician, John. He immediately identified the problem, but still followed through and gave me a thorough and informative inspection. He answered all my questions happily, and gave me lots of info on what could be an issue in the future. A week later and my ac is covered in frost and struggling to move any air. I call Blake's back up, a little ticked off to have to call them again in one week. They were very polite and accommodating over the phone and set me up with an appointment with the same technician that afternoon! They were even willing to waive the visit fee. John showed up and immediately identified the problem again. It ended up being one of the issues he'd mentioned at his last visit - the added efficiency of my new capacitor had caused this issue to rear up! In summary, I'm overjoyed with the service I received from John and everyone at Blake's. I will definitely continue to do business with them, and would encourage everyone else to as well. I would give these guys 10 stars if I could!!! They were lifesavers from my first desperate call . Our 16000 air conditioning unit had gone out even though it was only 2.5 years old from Beutlers . Beutlers could not get out for 4 days and then the day before my app they called and bumped me because customers with a service plan were calling in and they got priority even though I said it didn't matter what it cost. . Meanwhile our upstairs was 90 degrees . My teenage boys had football Practice and finals !! Called Blake's late afternoon and they had Brody come following morning and we had wonderful AC within an hour!!!! Thank you again Brody and Blake's!! Also what triggered Blake's for me was the Davis High Football Field . Both my sons play football for Davis and I remembered seeing Blake's advertisement sign. So not only do they have such wonderful professionalism and customer service , they also contribute to the community. Go Blue Devils!!! read more

Called Blakes because our heater was not working, they sent a guy who was clearly fresh out of school. He spent about 30 minutes, diagnosed the problem as a bad battery and potentially our control board. Charged $102. No sooner was he out the door and the heater was not working again. Now its afer hours and a weekend! Called all weekend spoke to the 'on call' guy who was too busy to come. Was told they'd get to us first thing Monday morning. Kids froze all weekend. Monday morning came, still no guy available and we were clearly not put on their schedule, despite 6 phone calls over the weekend. Someone came out on Tuesday and dusted something and said it was fixed. $80. Still not working, is this a JOKE and i'm missing the punch line? Just spoke to Mark Blake. Asked him to explain why I keep paying money and its still not fixed. He said I need a control board! OK so clearly the first and second visits out, were diagnostic, so why am I paying for multiple diagnostic visits? Is it because your kid is still in trianing, at my expense? He suggested I call someone else, SO WISH I HAD TWO WEEKS AGO! SUCH A SCAM!!! RUN THE OTHER WAY!!! read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. Our air went out 3 weeks ago. They came out and did some jeryrigged job to fix it that cost 1000.00. It stopped working 3 days ago and they still have not been out to look It. They claim they know what it is without seeing and they are "waiting" for the cost of the part. The truth is it's under warranty and we have a heat wave. They are fixing units they can over charge for cash. When my husband called today to find out what is happening she yelled at him. We have had two significant experiences with Blake's. We bought an old house, and discovered that the temperature upstairs was often 15 degrees different than downstairs. Especially in the summer, this made the upstairs very difficult, even at night. The reason: the home had been substantially added on to in several directions, but the HVAC had not been adjusted or upgraded, and the ducts were embedded in the old floor dividing the upstairs from the downstairs. One would have to rip up the floor to get to them. We engaged several companies to assess and recommend what we should do. Only Blake's was able to assess the situation and devise several options for me to consider, clearly explain them to me, and provide estimates of costs for each option. We wanted high quality, durability, effectiveness - at reasonable prices. The other companies provided much more expensive options than Blake's, but all companies agreed about what the problems were and what was causing the problems. Among the options provided by the owner, Mark Blake, we ultimately selected the one that he suggested would work for us the best, given our criteria. Two years later, all of his predictions occurred consistently. Now there is little temperature difference between the upstairs and downstairs, and we are following Mark Blake's advice about when to use the downstairs HVAC system and when to use the upstairs HVAC system so as to best save on energy costs. We are so pleased with the creative problem solving of a very complex situation that no other company had been able to solve - without a cost that was 40-100% higher than Blake's. Furthermore, the professionalism of Blake's men who came to do the work across about two days was also extraordinary. They were efficient and considerate. In addition, when faced with some unexpected situations, they consulted with me about what would work best for me, aesthetics included. What we selected took more time, but there was no change in the bill. In addition, when I asked about things, they explained clearly what they were doing and why. Mark Blake personally created the solution that worked so well, and his several workers, were outstanding in every way: Professional, honest, considerate, efficient and effective. In brief, their work has been outstanding and their prices highly competitive. The second experience was smaller. An old heater was discharging water. Blake's techs diagnosed the problem, made recommendations, and after considering those, we commissioned drip line replacements and a full cleaning of an old heater that had not been serviced for many years. The technician was highly competent, showed me what he was working with, how the dirt had built up on the inside filter, and completed the three hour job efficiently. He advised me about what I should do so as to keep this older heater working well. When he spilled some very dirty liquid on the carpet, Blake's was honest and forthright, taking full responsibility for successfully taking care of the problem immediately, even though that meant paying an outside carpet cleaning company to come in and clean everything - including the rest of the carpet of those two hallways. I have had a few great experiences with this company. First, when we were selling a home they came and did the needed repairs fast and out tenant at the time said that they were great and communicated everything very clearly. Second, when we were looking at having our AC moved or replaced the quote was well below what I was expecting for all that work. After determining the age of the unit and the problem, and listening to what our needs were, he provided an estimate of the work to be done the next day. He quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced a motor and checked the rest of the equipment. No charge! It was all covered under warranty. We had three estimates for this work, and Blake's was not only the most competitive, but Brian worked with us to give us bids on various options that we were considering.
