Blake's is kind of the In and Out Burger of New Mexico. We popped into Gallup and Twyla was so excited to go here; she loves Blake's! As is par for the course in N.M., we went after the green chili cheeseburger. I actually thought that it was rather good! The flavor profile was awesome! The chile added just the right amount of heat and the flavor that Hatch Chili's are known for. It is all counter service. Th are many offerings on the menu and my onion rings were mighty tasty. It is a must stop for Twyla and I on our way over to see friends and family in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.The one we stopped at was in downtown Gallup and there are many stores (trading posts) to see and tons of history to read about regarding this historic town It is nothing fancy but a good stop on way through. #vino2 #vinosquared #vino2ultimate #vino2

Crew doesn't what they are doing, giving away your orders to different customers and take their time messing up your order again!

We both enjoyed our meals, the meat was lamb and not gamey. The frybread was a real treat - new experience for myself.

We found this spot on Yelp and I'm so glad we stopped! We got the fry bread (sandwich) and it completely surprised us. I usually think lamb is too gamey, but this wasn't at all. When I brought it out, my husband thought it was beef at first because of how mild it tasted. The portions are huge. HUGE! One taco was seriously the size of a medium pizza and somehow we still finished it. If you're taking it to go like we did, eat it within 5 to 10 minutes so it doesn't get soggy. They also have free broth and honey inside which was such a nice touch and made it even better. Dipping the fry bread in the broth was a nice touch. Like a lighter consomé. Try it with the honey, too! We did with the remaining fry bread as a bit of a dessert. The best part though was the woman working there. She was so kind, answered all my questions, explained everything, and even gave me a magazine about Gallup. If you want something authentic and filling, definitely stop here.

Gallop New Mexico…read more Thank you for being so friendly! Right when we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by a very friendly girl behind the counter. She asked if we would like to eat in or takeout. We chose to eat in. We were told to seat ourselves and then she brought us some silverware, rolled in a paper napkin and some water. The restaurant is clean, other than the floors that could use a good mop. The majority of the restaurant are booths with a few tables and chairs centered in the middle. I ordered the lentil soup with pita, and my husband ordered the chicken Shawarma sandwich. The lentil soup came out right away with a large pita. The lentil soup was hot in temperature butt did not have much flavor. It wasn't bad it just could use a bit more spice. I also prefer my lentil soup to have a bit more texture. The lentils seem to be more of a purée. The pita was extremely disappointing. It was more like a soft hardtack. Very dry. Very thin. No flavor. My husbands sandwich was fine. The chicken had good flavor, as did the sauce. But again the complaint is the pita. Too dry and flavorless. The french fries were slightly undercooked but had good flavor. Aria was our waitress. Very sweet and kind. She made our experience here. The service is quick and efficient. The food is appropriately sized. Overall, I would give this place 10 stars for Service of all their employees. I would give six stars for the soup. I would give Six stars for the sandwich and fries. And the pita bread gets a one. I hope they can find a new recipe for the pita and the overall stars would be much higher.
