First visit today. Super small lobby. Not enough seating. The seating they have is overly fancy and impractical. Prices were good. Simple menu. Burger was mediocre. Pretty much Whataburger quality. Onion rings were good. Touchscreen soda machine is slow and annoying. They filled my cup 3/4 full of ice. No napkins or condiments in lobby, very bad design. Tons of staff but they were more in the way than helpful. They mostly just goofed around. They were training employees and wasting the limited lobby seating. Overall I think this place will be closed by the end of the year. This might of cut it in New Mexico but we have too many good burger options to settle. TL, DR: Don't waste your time. My son and out of town guests enjoy a good burger. Since we're newer to the area and have been wanting to try this place, we stopped yesterday. There aren't many options, just a couple different sized burgers and hotdogs. They were out of bacon, but were expecting the truck momentarily. The beverage machine was dispensing lemonade that didn't taste so good. Upon informing the staff, we were told they were out of lemonade. The burgers were similar to the pre-made patties you can purchase from the grocery store. Mine was very salty. One of my friends said his was bland and another was served a burger that was very pink inside. The staff made her another burger. She wasn't impressed with her chili, either. We ordered seasoned and regular fries; they were okay. The restaurant was decorated very nicely and was clean. My husband went through the drive-thru window on 10/2/20. He had to wait a half hour in line. The car at the head of the line took a long time and they were not asked to pull ahead like most places do. This is easily the worst burger I have ever had. The bottom of the bun was burned black. It was not edible. The burger patty was not memorable. All I remember about it is that black bun. The seasoned fries were very tough and chewy. Came in to try the Lotaburger with green chilies. Stephanie the cashier took my order and asked if I wanted fries to. I said no, and she totaled my order. I asked her if the fries were good she said the seasoned fries were da bomb. She rang up the fries and I was 11 cents short. I said I would run out to the car and grab some change. She said no problem, don't worry about it. She pulled a 5 out of her pocket and makes change, then hands my $2 and change back to me. I had eaten once at Blake's in New Mexico and it was pretty good so I was excited when the Tucson location opened. Severely disappointed. I was there on a recent Saturday in the drive though and waited not only for at least 10 minutes for the one car ahead of me to receive what looked like just a sauce packet, but personally for my own food for about 10 minutes. No one even came to the window until they collected my money and handed me the subpar chile cheeseburger combo. The burger was drenched in mustard and the patty tasted fresh off the hockey rink. It was semi cold and soggy rendering anything possibly positive, the cheese and the chilis, just a mess. The fries were ok, nothing special, and nothing about this experience would ever make me want to come back. I worked in Abuquerque back in 2012, and while I lived there I got hooked on Blake's Lotaburger. I'm back in Arizona now, but I live in Phoenix. When I heard that a Blake's had opened up in Tucson, I made the impromptu decision to drive there on a Saturday to get a tasty burger! I called up a friend in Tucson I hadn't seen in a few years and asked him to meet me there for lunch. I arrived, and the place was PACKED! Looks like they underestimated the volume of customers that they'd be serving. People were grumbing and complaining, but let me tell you... these burgers are worth the wait! The store manager, or a manager (I'm not sure of her exact title) was out working the crowd. She laid it out honest and plain (I always appreciate when people speak directly and plainly), and told me that the wait would be long, and there is no where to sit. The odds really weren't good that we'd be eating anytime soon. I told her that I used to live in New Mexico, and I had driven there from Phoenix, and I was really looking forward to having a Blake's burger for the first time in four years. She asked us what we wanted. I ordered my favorite: the doube meat burger with cheese, bacon, and green chili! She took my friend's order, ran into the kitchen, and came back a few minutes later with a bag of our food! I tried to give her my debit card to pay, but she told me it was on the house! Wow! I'm not sure what I did to deserve the special treatment, and I do hope that peope in the long line in front of me weren't too upset, but I sure was grateful! We walked over to the park nearby and ate at one of the picnic tables. It hit the spot! I had waited so long to taste one of these excellent burgers, and I was so glad I made the decision to take a day trip to the Old Pueblo... despite the long line and poor parking lot design. Look, the parking is limited, the lot and drive-thru lane are disfunctional, there's limited seating, you will stand in line, and it will take a while (not because the workers are slow or incompetent... but just due to the sheer number of customers.)There's no way around that, and it's why I gave four stars instead of five. But don't let that dissuade you. These are excellent burgers, and they're well worth the wait! You must get them with green chili, though. It's what's New Mexico is known for, and it's what makes these burgers special. The green chili is the real-deal Hatch chili. It's got a delicious, smoky flavor with just the right amount of kick. If you don't like green chili... well, I'm sorry that you have a malfunction, lol, just kidding (not really...) The patties are thick and juicy, and the buns are delicious, so I'm sure they're just fine without the green chili (but who wants a fine burger? Just get the green chili and make it better than fine!) Certainly better than the overrated In-n-Out. I didn't get the manager's name, but she was a young twenty-something woman with short, blonde hair. I am truly thankful and appreciative that she went out of her way to do something for me that I wasn't expecting, and it was something that she had no obligation to do. As for the other reviewers here grumbling about the service, or whining about nonsense such as no 'gluten free' buns... seriously I wish these entitled brats would go crawl back into the holes they came from. These burgers are amazing, and I was treated very, very well. If you want your special snowflake food, go find some pretentious, soulless, over-priced restaurant and join all the other smug crybabies. (I'd tell you to be happy there, but we all know nothing will ever make you happy.) If, however, you're not a whiny malcontent and you know how to appreciate a no-frils American burger with a Southwestern spin, then brave the lines. You'll be glad you did. Let's hope they open more locations (with more seating and parking), and I really wish that they'd expand to Phoenix. Otherwise... I'm going to be spending a lot of gas money on trips to Tucson. I love Blake's, their burgers are really tasty NM style burgers and the fries are usually piping hot. I do not however love this location. I must be a glutton for punishment because I keep going back in hopes that they'll get my order right....alas I am disappointed. Every. Single. Time. I think this is the definition of insanity. Can someone at Blake's tell me what is so hard about filling an order for a double meat, double cheese burger? In-n-Out manages to fulfill my request with ease, Graze has no problem with double meat/cheese....but poor old Blake's on Speedway just can't get their s#!t together! My order is the exact same every time, and every time I pull away it's either one patty, two cheese, two patty, no cheese, one patty one cheese.....you get the drift. I will admit that I am partially at fault for not physically unwrapping my burger (let's remember I must be insane for continuing to frequent this location) and checking it before my speedy departure.....but come on. Ordered from the drive thru. Waited nearly 30 minutes for 2 meals and an order of onion rings. Could see into the window what appeared to be the supervisor and two workers standing around laughing and playing screw around while drive thru cars piled up. Finally got our order. The cashier did apologize for the wait and offered extra ketchup. I'll give her that. I wasn't real impressed. The green chili was too spicy to make the burger enjoyable. I'm from Phoenix and always must stop here when we come to town. I was surprised to see only a 2.5 star average, so reading through the reviews, I'm sad to see such low stars for things like drive thru being busy or them keeping napkins behind the counter. Come on. I'm eating inside right now and they did not make me ask for ketchup like someone said- they actually came by halfway through my meal and asked if we needed anything else. I'm always here on a weekday around lunchtime and have always had great service. The food is great too. Give it a try for yourself! I've spent a good portion of my life in New Mexico, so I was so happy when I heard that Tucson was getting a Blake's Lotaburger. I hope that what we experienced was due to the fact that they just opened. First of all, there didn't appear to be anyone in charge. All of the employees were obviously under 20 and didn't care at all about customer service. We ordered four burgers and they were all wrong. They looked literally thrown together and were undercooked. The fries and milkshakes were good, that's the only reason I'm giving two stars. The burgers didn't remotely resemble what I've had in New Mexico. We'll try them again in a month or two, but if what we had is the norm, this place is doomed. read more

I love blakes lot-a-burger!! But before I review I have to say this......When I travel to New Mexico, this is one of my go to places. Now keep in mind this is a staple in New Mexico and has been around for over 60 years so the restaurants there are not nearly as busy as this single location in all of Tucson. It amazes me how much people will complain because they can't fill their fat mouths quick enough. I think it's hilarious that people feel the need to bash this family owned business over a parking lot and the seating and for their inability to ask questions about the menu (first world problems I guess). I know common sense is a thing of the past but my recommendation is if you see the Parking lot full including the drive through, chances are they are extremely busy so if you're in a hurry, keep driving. Now with that in mind, if they are that busy there might be a chance that an order or two may get screwed up, but hey, we're all human right? SHIT HAPPENS!! If you want fast and cheap and not made with the best ingredients and ok flavor then have it your way and go to Burger King. If you want a juicy and delicious green chile burger with amazing flavor or a chile con carne frito pie or just a strawberry shake, this is the place!! Now for my first visit to Tucson Blakes today........ Of course the parking lot was full but that was expected because this is a new restaurant in Tucson. Just like in-and-out when they came to town and Krispy Kreme, Tucsonans jump on that shit and will make it a huge craze and everyone wants to try it, I remember the drive through lines zig-zagging through the parking lot at El Con. My family and I knew this was the case and made plans just to go eat there knowing we might be there for at least 45 min to an hour. Once we got inside, of course it was full as well but we were able to find a place to sit ( I would've sat outside and ate from the back of my car or went to the park behind the location). The line to order moved quick and within a few minutes we were ready to order. I will say though that they could probably use another drink station, the restaurant is small and having another line just for drinks makes it even more crowded, but anyway. We waited about 10 minutes (maybe not that long) but our food came out quickly. The wait wasn't a bother as it gave us a chance to talk to the people sitting next to us(it's ok to put your phone down and interact with other humans) As soon as we got our food I started going through it, the manager came to us to make sure we were ok and told us that he would be back in a minute to make sure our order was right. Now guess what happened, he came right back after bring another order out and made sure we were happy and our order was correct. wow!! amazing service in my opinion. The food was delicious and well worth the hassle of finding parking and siting in a crowded dining area. While we ate, there was always an employee making sure everything was ok. Now after eating I had to have a strawberry shake. Again, the line moves fast and ordered in no time. While I was waiting, the manager saw me standing against the wall and asked if I was ok, I told him I was waiting for three shakes he asked for my order number and went and checked. He came right back to let me know they were being made as we spoke and low and behold less than a minute late, here they came. I know his is a long review but I don't think they are getting the credit they deserve. Maybe when there are a few more locations in town it will slow down but for now this is what we have to deal with and if you don't want to deal with a full Parking lot or dining area or the possibility of a screwed up order then keep it movin. I don't get the hype. It's a regular fast-food burger that makes your mouth burn. We ordered the green chile cheeseburger on recommendation of a native New Mexican. With a side order of the seasoned fries. The wait was long and it was crowded and noisy for a Wednesday night. There were only two cashiers, and ONE drink machine. It's a fancy drink machine where you can customize your Dr. Pepper with extra flavorings, which is exciting. But when there is only one soda machine in a crowded restaurant, you end up resenting the kid who can't decide how to customize his beverage. Seasoned fries were pretty great, they're about what you'd expect. It's hard to ruin a French fry. But the burger was a big disappointment, I guess I thought it was going to be life-changing, but it's really just a regular burger. They charge extra for the cheese and green chile, be prepared for that. I guess you have to be New Mexican to really appreciate this place, I don't think we'll be back. read more

Don't go here if you want a correct order. First they can't hear correctly through their speaker. Place was ridiculous, told us we had all of our fries right to our faces. Was willing to over look the extra two drink charge in receipt. I wanted to like this place!! I live less than a mile away, and for months I've watched the construction with anticipation. When I heard it was a Blake's, I researched them on the interwebs and got even more excited. I was *so* excited, in fact, that on opening day, I arrived before they opened and was the third person in drive-thru. (on a side note, the trash folks arrived right after me, and couldn't get to the dumpster, so we all had to move out of their way, let them do their job, then go back in place.) For this "getting to know you" phase, I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito, a Southwest burrito with red sauce, and a Lotaburger with no add-ins. Despite being the third person in drive-thru, it took quite a bit to get my food, but I figured it was due to just opening. I took the food home and cut it in half so my teenager and I could try it all. The bacon burrito was...just okay. The hash browns were a big white mush and the green chiles were too hot for me. I had to pick them out. Teenager agreed, except the chiles were fine for him. I took one bite of the Southwest burrito and actually yelped. My mouth was instantly on fire! They should warn people about the red chile sauce because it was way WAY too hot. My lips and tongue were throbbing, and I couldn't eat any more of it. Teenager liked the burrito, except he said it was too small for the price. The Lotaburger (thankfully, I didn't put chiles on it!) was just okay. It was like a poor hybrid of a Whataburger and an In-N-Out burger, and neither of us were overly impressed. So...overall, my impressions were "just okay, but the chiles were too hot" while teenager thought it was "just okay, but too many onions used." A week later, we gave it another shot. We arrived late in the afternoon, and were smart enough to park in the adjoining church parking lot, right behind the bus stop. Interestingly, there weren't any people in line to order, but there were many people waiting for food. This time, we ordered chicken strips, the grilled chicken sandwich, regular fries, seasoned fries and onion rings to go. It took FOREVER to get our food! For most of our wait, there were several other people waiting for their food, and one of the crew members kept telling us to move out of the way. (Here's a tip...if too many people are in the way..maybe get the food out faster?) The kitchen was full of people, so I don't know what the deal was with getting food out. Anyway, our order FINALLY arrived and we took it home. Like before, we divided everything in half so we could sample it all. Once again, the food was just okay. The chicken strips seemed small, and were nothing special. The bun on the grilled chicken sandwich was a sodden mess because of the mayo-like sauce they used. It fell apart quickly and both of us wound up just eating the grilled chicken and leaving the rest of the sandwich. The fries were just okay...nothing special. The seasoned fries weren't very seasoned, and the onion rings were decent but too greasy. So, to recap, in our two visits we tried: a Lotaburger a bacon breakfast burrito a southwest breakfast burrito a chicken sandwich chicken strips french fries seasoned fries onion rings The overwhelming result: nothing outright sucked (except for that wet bun), but none of it was really good. It was just one big MEH. Add the intolerable wait, and this is one place we won't be revisiting anytime soon. This was our first--and last--time at Blake's Lotaburger, for a number of reasons. When we arrived, the place was packed. Parking was at a premium, but we wanted to eat in, so we finally found a place to park. There was a long line inside, and it was moving VERY slowly. We were on line for approximately 18 minutes before we finally made it to the counter. Once there, we placed the order we'd had plenty of time to think through. We both ordered the Lota combo. He asked for nothing on his burger except cheese and onions; when asked if they had any other sauces for the burgers, like maybe, 1000 island, they did not. I have gluten issues, and asked if they have gluten-free buns; they do not. I ordered mine bunless. The combo comes, according to the menu, with a large drink and a large fries. Their large drink is something like 30 ounces, but their large fries is smaller than a regular size at certain large chain restaurants. The price was fairly reasonable, no real complaint there. We went off and found one table to sit down at to wait for our food. The dining room is far too small for the numbers of people wanting to check out this new restaurant (that may not be a problem for long, however). There are no salt or pepper shakers, no available napkins on the tables or in the dining room. There was a young man running orders out to the tables, and it was at this point that I realized how backed up they really were. Our order number was 844; the runner was bringing out orders in the low 830's. People who had already found tables before we entered the restaurant were just getting their food (at this point, we'd already been in house approximately 25 minutes). It took approximately another 15 minutes to get our food. When we got it, our first disappointment was the fries. Not that they were unpleasant; they were not particularly hot, more along the line of lukewarm, and they could have used a bit more salt. When he opened his burger, there was cheese, but no onions. He had to go to the counter for it, and wound up with the equivalent of the small round of onion. The patty was thin and dry, and we were both disappointed at the fact it was only one patty. The picture next to the Lota combo clearly shows a double patty burger. When he asked about it, he was told they have had a large number of complaints about that. Over all, the experience was far less than all the hype had led us to expect. We won't be going back. If we want a good burger, we'll go to Graze across the street. read more

Grossed out when the guy working the drive through window took my Visa card and never took off his gloves then watched in amazement when he took my card up to the front counter and left it there while he went in back to get something for another customer. After the man working the window finally ran and brought back my card he proceeded to fill up my drink cup while still wearing the same nasty gloves. God only knows how long he was wearing them. I am originally from NM so every time I am Tucson I make sure and stop here to get a good green chile burger. It's my favorite place in AZ to get a burger I just wish we had one in the Phoenix area. What a disappointment. For the green chile cheeseburgers they put a heavy layer of mustard down, then pickles, onions, tomato, lettuce, burger and cheese. It wasn't bad; just not great and the mustard overwhelms it. The fries were pretty gross; not really cooked and lukewarm at best. The onion rings were cardboard an the chocolate shake was made with chocolate ice cream which to me makes a bad difference. The staff were very nice and the restaurant was clean. Went for lunch with husband yesterday (6/2/16). I ordered a cheeseburger with everything, an order of seasoned fries with cheese (as there is a sign on the menu about how they can add cheese to everything), and a soda. I received a burger without cheese or any veggies (huh?), less than 10 cold fries with 8 shreds of cheese on them, and a cup for my soda--they have those machines to make up flavored drinks, but, alas, they only have 2 diet options--Diet Coke and Diet Dr. Pepper. First, the drink: I got a Diet Dr. Pepper...but it wasn't diet (I am a diabetic; I tested it). I didn't bother complaining, since by the time I tested it, I'd already unsuccessfully complained twice. Burger: not sure why I didn't get the toppings I ordered, nor the cheese I paid for. It was dry and unappetizing to be honest. Fries: huh? I asked about why they were cold, and why the cheese wasn't melted, and was told by a not so nice staff member that there is no microwave.
