The green chile burgers and breakfast burritos are phenomenal here. Not too mention, the service was excellent. The employee made an error with my order, and I understand as I used to be a server at a restaurant, and I went back to let them know I just wanted them to add the green chile and cheese to my burger, but they just went ahead and got me a new sandwich. I made my first visit to Blake's yesterday. I give it a 3.5. It's a great addition to the fast food scene here. A different, more hip vibe and a decent burger. I love that their ketchup packets actually have a useful amount of ketchup in them. Free wifi is a plus, I used it and it worked great. The staff were friendly, and it seemed sincere; they seem happy to be working there. The Lotaburger came with a substantial meat patty, that had good flavor and texture. Two complaints. The chocolate milkshake was bad. It's the dreaded 'ice milk' from my childhood that the family would buy when we were on hard times financially. A huge yuk, didn't even finish it. Also, the Hatch green chiles were too hot. I love hot, as evidenced by my high ratings for Poco and Mom's here in Tucson and for various NM food venues. But this was ridiculous, just too much, which takes away from enjoying not only the chile but the hamburger. I guess if frat boys want to get into a competition to survive high heat in their mouth, this is the place for them. But the rest of us will have to make a more palatable green chile burger at home. If I go again, and I might, I'll have a burger sans green chile and stick with a soda rather than the shake. read more

First of all- food was good. Great burger, fresh fries and delicious onion rings! Could not get past the bad service and filthy dining room. There were no clean tables so I went to the front to ask for something to clean off the table, the young unfriendly female worker handed me a pile of napkins. Not even wet! And she did not offer to come and clean it for me, which was what I was expecting. After finishing lunch, I did see the sanitation buckets with towels inside on top of the trash can. I guess they expect you to wipe down your own tables? Disgusting and inexcusable. Also very disappointing they don't trust customers enough to have napkins, ketchup and ice out. First off, I have never been to a Lotabuger...I was on that side of town, so decided to check it out, went through the drive thru and was trying to read the menu fast being I had no clue wha I liked or what to order. I grabbed a bacon breakfast burrito. Tried to grab it to eat on the run, the burrito was HUGE!!! I love breakfast burritos, I will say this is the BEST one I've ever tried, super hot off the grill, fresh eggs, cheese, delicious quality bacon, real hash browns And the green Chile to die for! Hi, I'm an employee at this Blake's location. I'm just your average crewmember and I wish to remain unknown. I actually like the burgers. I spent a portion of my time here making burgers, prepping them, and working the cashier. I was grilling burgers for 7 hours straight, no break, the first day we opened. I had 30 patties on the grill. I occasionally messed up an order, and I apologize for that. When I am on prep, it is also hard to keep track of all the orders, again I apologize. We have methods that would be great for a dinner that does not have huge crowds. I have eaten after my shift 5 times. I know at some point, I will get sick of the burgers, but they are pretty good. One time my burger was a little burnt but I didn't complain because it was in the middle of a rush hour. I just sat there and eat my burger. I worked cashier a lot as well. And I do like working in that position, I get to interact with people. I get to meet a lot of really nice people in Tucson and it makes me happy I live there. However, there are also a lot of mean and petty people. The worst incident was when this woman, in her mid to late 20s, came up to me, pushed the people, who I was attending to, out of the way and demanded a refund. For her burger that had a single bite taken out of it. And I quote, "This burger was disgusting, I want a refund". Of course, I was polite and asked if I could attend to the family first, but she refused. Thankfully, the family was nice enough to let the lady get her refund. She also tried to get a refund for her drinks as well. She got her refund and walked out. I apologized to the waiting family and they were understanding. Another time, I was grilling and this order popped up. It consisted of 4 double meat lotaburgers, 4 istaburgers, and a pork sandwich. Each of them with a different way to make it (with or w/o cheese, no mustard, etc.). It was hard to get them right. Honestly, I think these burgers and milkshakes are pretty awesome. I think they could be better done if all of Tucson had not visited us in the first four weeks of our opening. Each day, we sold at least 1600 meals with an average of three burgers per meal. We ran out of our green chile on the first day and our computers would not work occasionally. I apologize for the inconvenience, I really am sorry. After reading the reviews here on yelp, I understand your guys' complaints. The annoying soda dispenser, the odd system of not being able to walk up and get a packet of ketchup without having to get an employee. That was the system in New Mexico. At least I would assume because it does not work in a fast food setting. You're probably wondering why I voted 4 stars instead of 5. I gave my review four stars because of the customers. Not the customer service. If we would have better customers, who are not so picky about their food and we were more understanding, we employees would be able to breathe. Wanted to try Blake's in New Mexico but never did. Was a bit hesitant to try the Speedway location because of some of the low reviews, but decided to see for myself. There were five of us and we were greeted by the very nice counter person as we entered, ordering was very fast and friendly, food delivered very quickly with no errors in orders, and tasted very good except I could have used a bit more green chili on the double cheeseburger but just my own preference. Food was okay, expected more for all the hype and popularity. Burger wasn't any better than Whataburger. For the price, I'll keep going to In and Out, better burger, better price, and no waiting. Sunday afternoon we were going to stop again (already been here earlier in the week), the drive thru line wasn't out on Speedway, so thought it might be a short wait. We pulled in, only two cars in front of us. Still, ended up waiting almost 15 minutes for the two cars to go, so we finally placed our order, at 1:53pm. It took from 1:53pm until 2:16pm to get to the drive thru window to pay. Once we paid, we waited at the window for another 15 minutes! I finally got somebody's attention and asked why, after 45 minutes, they still didn't have a BBQ sandwich and a bowl of chili ready! That's all we ordered. He apologized and went to check. Came back 5 minutes later with a lukewarm BBQ sandwich (couldn't taste the BBQ), and a warm bowl of chili. No spoon, no napkins. Obviously the food was prepared when we ordered it 45 minutes prior. What's worse is that once we got our food, we still couldn't leave because there were two cars between us and Speedway still waiting for their food! The guy inside finally came out and asked them to move over to the parking lot so we could leave. We spent more than ONE HOUR in the drive thru. Believe me, the food was definitely not worth that kind of wait. If I knew I'd be spending an hour in the drive thru, I would have opted to go dine at Olive Garden. When looking inside, there were several employees walking around and talking to each other. None of which showed ANY sense of urgency. They need to seriously re-think how they want to operate their drive thru operation, not to mention the parking lot. They should reroute the drive thru so that it does NOT go out to Speedway. Makes it very difficult for people who want to park and go inside. Our visit earlier in the week went slightly better, still spent way too much time in the drive thru, although the BBQ sandwich tasted much better and was hot on our first visit, and had the right amount of BBQ sauce. After our last visit, I doubt we'll be back anytime soon. Hopefully they can figure out how to run a drive thru, and maybe establish an escape route so you're not stuck behind other cars waiting for their food. Very, very frustrating. There is no food that is worth that kind of waiting, and the food here is not even that good. Don't waste your time. Go someplace where you can get your food while it's still hot... like In and Out. I have better things to do with my time than sit in their drive thru. read more

I'm not really a person to use Yelp to write reviews, I just like reading them before going to a new place but my experience here tonight was absolutely horrible. I went to thru since there wasn't a lot of people only 1 person in front of us and a few cars in the parking lot. Perfect time to try it out. When we first drove in the guy taking our order didn't greet us he went straight to trying to take our order and then interrupted me to get my car type? After doing so I asked to give some time to look over the menu which didn't explain what was in the burger or the difference between them. I always make sure my burgers don't have cheese so when I asked no cheese please the man taking our order sarcastically said "our burgers don't have cheese so and then laughed" so I was already displeased but since the place is fairly new I understood there would be some learning to do, and what not. It took 25 minutes to get our food and the person in front of us was waiting longer and was asked to go in to get his order? After going to the drive thru the guy named Joseph didn't apologize for the wait just asked for my card and then started talking to one of his co workers, after that it took a couple more minutes to get our food and even longer to get our drink which was weird. We weren't asked if we wanted ketchup or napkins, the guy didn't even say have a good night or anything once he gave us our drink he turned around and continued his conversation. He was completely rude from beginning to end. Many of the workers seemed to be just standing around which made me question why our food took so long especially since there was only 1 person in front of me. The food was bland, it wasn't even warm. We will not be coming here again for a long time. Maybe when things get worked out and people are properly trained the food and service will be better. read more

Don't waste your time here. The food is not as good as everybody says. Wouldn't be so bad if they didn't make you wait forever to get it. Tried it a few times to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it shouldn't take an hour to get a burger and fries at a fast food restaurant!! This place looks good when you walk in its clean and they welcome you to Blake's! But you never get what you order. The staff is usually outside getting high. Or some girl is in heat. I was sitting in my car for like 5 min and 2 Blake's employees came out from the dumpster 1 wiping her nose. It's really no wonder why the food is never made right. I order and was waiting on my food and kept looking up to see what was taking so long and then I realized the no one is working. One of the girls #dumpstergirl we'll say asked for my number when she brought my food and when I asked her her age she said 17 then cleaned up her nose. I was very excited when I learned that Lotaburger was coming to town. A place to get a chile cheeseburger just a few a few blocks from my house seemed like heaven to me. Alas, my excitement has turned to dismay. On my first visit the burger was just ok, I gave them kudos for at least having chiles with some bite, not the bland mild green chiles that most establishments use. The fries were pretty good too. The second time, on a dead night with only one car ahead of me, I waited an interminably long time to get my food. The voice on the other end of the drive through window quoted me one price (this was confirmed by the other people in the car), when I finally pulled up to pay the disinterested woman at the window told me a higher price and offered no explanation or apologies. Ordered the Lota'burger with cheese and green chiles, a chili dog, fries and a shake. The buns left a distinct impression with me--fresh and tasty but a little bit heavy. Burger paddy is supposed to be a quarter pound but it seemed quite thin on the burger. Taste is good with the Hatch green chiles. The chili on the dog was not Hatch or green; had a bit of nice heat but not much flavor otherwise, and the dog itself was robust but very salty. The fries were excellent--hot and nicely cooked with just the right amount of salt. I had to ask for extra ketchup packets at the counter; I prefer having a dispenser with little tubs available. I wish the hotdog had come with mustard (I like mustard on a chili dog), I guess I should have asked for it. The parking lot is tight and the interior is small but attractive. Service is friendly but I thought the place needed a good wipe and mop. The touch-screen soda dispensers are neat but feel a bit unsanitary. Chocolate shake was frosty, flavorful, and very sweet. Prices are very reasonable. Overall...a nice change in the rotation but not quite on a par with Inn-and-Out or Five Guys. read more

traveled to blakes today to get a green chili itsaburger. waited for 20 minutes in the drive thru line before i got my order. got home and was prepared to eat it when the burger came apart and fell into my lap. when if got it cleaned up and tried to salvage it it looked as if the burger had broken in half during cooking/preparation. called and spoke with the manager who told me that she was sorry that had happened and that if i wanted to drive back they would comp me a burger. she then told me if i didn't get it today that i was not entitled to a comp at a later time per the instructions of the district manager. told me she was sorry it had happened and that was all she that she could do for me. it was the rude and cavalier way that she dealt with the incident that left me unhappy. if that is indeed their policy then blakes needs to remember who keeps them in business. read more
