Blanc is much smaller than I expected. Just 7 tables inside. Looks like it could hold about 30 people. The bar area is also the kitchen. From what I understand, every meal is prepared singularly. My first time at Blanc but will definitely not the be last! I love the small and cozy space and that open kitchen is a nice touch too! Service was wonderful- a great warm welcome upon entry and it was great for the rest of the dinner. They don't have a full bar but their wine list is outstanding with some of our favorites and they do have some wine based cocktails which are absolutely delicious. Food is great - they always have fun specials. I had the duck the night we were dining there but their regular menu items offer enough excitement and variety for every pallet. Blanc is the shining diamond in the Fort Myers food scene. It really blew me out of the water and it's been my favorite restaurant in the area. Everything from the service to the atmosphere was top notch. The standouts were the escargot with the crostinis and the pork belly. The French lobster soup was delicious but it felt like it got progressively saltier as I continued eating it. However, the pork belly alone deserves 100 stars out of 10. We had another exceptional meal last night. Blanc never disappoints. Everyone's meal exceeded expectations. The Burrata and escargot got us off to a great start. Everyone loved their entrées. And the crème brûlée was wonderful. This particular night, the staff went above and beyond for a member of our group with an allergy to onion and garlic. They were very thoughtful in letting her know exactly which items were safe. Our server was brand new and paid extra attention. To be safe, she would ask questions of her teammates when she was unsure. These individuals were incredibly courteous and helpful as well. Just another experience to solidify why this is one of the best restaurants in town. read more

Outstanding dinner! What a treat to ourselves this restaurant is. The most delicious pork chop we have had in our lives. No hyperbole. French onion soup is so rich and yummy you could make it an entree. Tuna ceviche cones were delectably spiced with just enough chili. Perfect. Beautiful wine-by-the-glass selections. Wonderful service. My favorite coffee service anywhere! Love being able to view the kitchen--you can even get a kitchen bar seat. I didn't give it 5 stars because of two things: 1) Cesar salad dressing seemed to be mayonnaise based? It's just wrong. 2) The interior is WHITE (in keeping with its name). So the upholstery needs to be sparkling clean if you're going to do white in a commercial environment. We were at Blanc the first year it opened. The interior was dazzling! Now it is a little tired. If you can find this little restaurant, you're in for a good time. (It's on the corner between Belini and Blu.) Small inside, decorated in white and green anda little gold. Freddy took care of us. We tried different versions of the $55 3-course meal: artichoke fritters (temperature with a little spice) vs a Jenga tower of bread in a lake of cheese (one of the evening's highlights), a "Cesar" salad (meh) vs mixed green salad (drowning in a good vinaigrette), and steak (better than most) vs lamb chops (salty). The limoncello spritz was light and refreshing, but we didn't have room for dessert. From where I was sitting, I could watch the chefs working quickly in the central kitchen and also see two screens playing photomontages that I dubbed "jazz cats and dogs" and "bottles and glasses of alcohol." It was a weird kind of performance art, I guess. There's complimentary parking in an extensive lot behind the shopping plaza. We recently ate here for my cousins 40th birthday, overall it was a great experience! The food was delicious, we all ordered from the set menu. I chose the salmon carpaccio, French onion soup, and the rosemary lamb chops with roasted Brussels and a Nigerian prawn. I also ordered their escargot. I think the escargot was surprisingly my favorite, it was bubbling hot and came with crustini. The salmon was buttery and also came with crustini and some kind of creme fraise. The French onion soup was great, but it had too much cheese and not enough onion. It would have been nice to have a small hit of sweet to balance the saltiness. I ordered the extra prawn, I couldn't eat it since it was overcooked and sort of stringy, I wasn't charged for it. The blanc 75 cocktail was super refreshing, I could have had a pitcher. The service was very attentive and the waiter shared the specials and his favorites flawlessly. The space is small, so a reservation for more than two people is super necessary. This is the best food I've eaten in Fort Myers, and rivals any restaurant I have eaten at around the world. Each dish is thoughtfully constructed and carefully prepared. We started with a special appetizer of salmon prepared three ways. Nuanced and varied, interesting (served with a warm soft omelet), and beautifully plated. My husband had the French onion soup which was exceptional, and the pork chop special, also delicious. For my main, I chose the barramundi special which was served perfectly prepared with a rich risotto. The regular menu is made up of substantial tapas. The specials are great if you prefer an entree. Unfortunately, we had subpar (albeit friendly) service. We waited about a half hour to even place our order, and our meal took 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. We saw guests arrive after us and leave before us. At one point the owner came to ask how our meal was, thinking we were done, but our meal hadn't even arrived at that point. We were very polite but there was never an apology and our server never checked on us. That being said, I am already planning which dishes I will choose when I return. Don't go if you are in a rush and don't go if you are afraid to get Covid - the tables are packed so tight you can't get up without bumping into someone at another table. The four word review of our first visit to Blanc would be: Awkward. Uncomfortable. Decent. Underwhelming. I've heard so many good things about this place, so when we showed up for dinner my salivary glands were already firing on overdrive. Alas, it wasn't as amazing an experience as I'd hoped. It's a small space, with tables on the periphery and the kitchen in the middle, with bar seating that lets you see the kitchen staff and Chef doing their thing. Their Japanese robatayaki ("robata") grill kicks out plumes of fatty, meaty smoke throughout the evening. Which is awesome when you're hungry and looking to gorge on perfectly grilled proteins, less so when you're smelling it on your car's upholstery in the following days. What struck me fairly quickly after sitting down was a weird mood in the restaurant. I don't know what was going on behind the scenes but the few interactions I saw between kitchen and service staff were pretty testy. Our server tried to ingratiate herself to us by sharing gossip and snide remarks about certain other patrons of the restaurant. I wish instead she just performed her job and took our orders in a timely fashion, and perhaps refilled our water glasses at least once. Alas, no. What we severely lacked in service was only somewhat made up for with the food. A cocktail may have smoothed things out, too, but there's no liquor here. Only beer, wine, and liquor-substitute drinks. Also known as wastes of money. We started with the artichoke fritters and escargot. Fritters we're overly breaded and pretty bland. That's our bad for ordering these. Fortunately the escargot was exactly what you want here: laden with butter, garlic, and salt. We ate the tasty little snails (which taste like salty garlic butter) then just about sopped the plate dry with the bread. Did this blow my mind? No. Was it exactly what I wanted and needed, and did it deliver? God, yes. Om nom nom. For dinner we ordered the surf and turf, which was a pair of giant prawns (Nigerian, maybe?), and a grilled 4 oz filet. I thought the prawns were a little overdone, but had an excellent charcoal flavor with a little citrus to jazz em up. Remoulade was good. However, the filet (ordered medium rare) came out dry, hard, and unappetizing as...well....a filet that was overcooked, taken off the grill, then re-overcooked just to teach it a lesson or something. So, so disappointing. Maybe I would've said something to the server, but she was just as MIA then as she was for everything prior. So I just put my head down and won the chew-off against the cut of beef. The risotto that came with this was also heavy as hell, and the bad kind of rich IMO (compared to the lovely rich escargot). I watched them make it over the counter: pre-prepared risotto, plopped with ladle into a pan, covered with a quart of heavy cream, and warmed up. Certainly not a classic technique. Finished with crème brûlée. Was good, can't complain. Nothing special. But like ol' Mariano Rivera coming out of the Yankees bullpen back in the day, it was dependable. Overall, not a memorable meal, but there were glimpses of hope and reason to give Blanc another chance. Hopefully the staff have squashed whatever beef they had going on at the time. It's so off-putting when I have to pay any mind to the goings on of a restaurant's staff, rather than focusing on my food and my company. And, unfortunately, when I could finally pay attention to what I was eating, most bites left much to be desired. We'll be back, Blanc. Please don't break our hearts again. read more

A pleasant young lady from Bulgaria (I forgot her name) was attentive and was excited to hear my partner had just asked me to marry him. Space is little tight here and tables are push very close together. This is not a place to have a quiet dinner and private conversation. You can seat at the chef's counter instead of table. This is the French Bistro style. However, if you enjoy a trendy décor and good food, this is for you! Reservation is a must. The owner/chef, Jean Claude is on hand to supervise the chefs, cook and chat with patrons. Tonight, we start with a light Chardonnay, Merlot and beer follow by the Gorgonzola and Pear salad, French Onion soup and a classic Caesar salad. Both salads are fresh and well prepared. The French onion soup was delicious! Lot of cheese and the right amount of bread, with a right consistency of onions and broth. Tonight, we sampled the lamb lollipops, Tropical Grouper, Special Pork Chop and a Surf and Turf. The plate sizes are small plate (tapas) or entree size. We have the lamb lollipops and Tropical Grouper in tapa size and Special Pork Chop and Surf and Turf in large entree size. First, the surf and turf, a fillet Mignon with two huge Nigerian Prawns. The fillet mignon is grilled perfectly seating on top of tasty risotto. The huge Nigerian prawns were spectacular and almost like a baby lobster and presented with vegetables. It is delectable and visually exciting! The special pork chop is a double cut and charred in the robata grill that was excellent. The Tropical Grouper was served with a mango salsa. The lamb lollipops were superb. Our side of Brussels sprouts was grilled perfectly. For dessert, we shared a flan with caramel. A perfect ending to our meal. I struggled with 4 vs 5 stars for this place. I ultimately couldn't go below 5, because this was probably the best meal I've had in SWFL. Food was spectacular, beyond good - for me and everyone at our table. The service was equally good. My water glass was refilled constantly, there were many little extras I can't even remember, but was constantly pleasantly surprised. So why consider losing a star? The room. It was elbow to elbow - uncomfortably so. And hot. I almost got elbowed several times by other diners, and was dripping sweat. Getting out from the table was impossible without bumping into others. And the close quarters made it loud and hard to hear. The prices are extremely high. $150 for two of us, before tip, and only one glass of wine. Reservations are very important. It is also poorly identified outside, took a while to find the restaurant. But the FOOD AND SERVICE!!! Despite the drawbacks, it was really that good. The coolest experience... sit at the chef's counter if you can! Chef Jean Claude is French and friendly! The food was some of the best I've ever had. Picture a small, bustling, pleasant and comfortably snug French restaurant in lower Manhattan, with wonderfully authentic staff... say that doesn't exist do you? Well it does in Fort Myers! Combine bites of food that wow your senses and an atmosphere that evokes feelings of those French dinner bistros you see on TV (or perhaps have visited!), and you have Blanc. I got the Caesar salad which came with anchovies perfectly arranged on the top (no pic of that one), petit filet mignon with brandy peppercorn Demi glace, an expertly prepared sauce and mashed potatoes I'll dream about tonight, a slice of potatoes gratin and brussel sprouts miso.
