We had just been to a show at the science center and wanted a good meal close by. We found this spot hoping for good food. Unfortunately, this was average at best. I had the chicken salad which was good - just not great or even really good. The margarita was a bit better than average. The grilled Mexican street corn was pretty good and probably the best thing we had. I had ordered a crispy beef taco and it was far too salty and overly spiced (not hot but just tasted liked they dumped the whole can of spice into the meat). My wife had the trio meal which was a cheese enchilada and a tostada and taco. She had the same takeaway. It is a shame as the atmosphere was pretty good and Nick the server was great. He has a larger than life personality and was attentive. We probably won't come back as there are better spots for the money.

The bartenders at Blanco are awesome. They're Cinco de Mayo specials were some margarita specials like a skinny spicy Marg. The chili rim made me sneeze lol. They had a live mariachi band to make the night more festive. The short rib enchiladas were a little fatty, but overall very tasty.

If you're visiting the Great Canyon state, swing by this place in Phoenix. Friendly staff and an open seating area with a bar, this is a great spot for a great Mexican meal any time. I came here for lunch on cinco de mayo and they didn't disappoint. I had the chicken Tinga bowl and it was a healthy portion and delicious. Would highly recommend.

ok so i ate here 3 times my last stay in Phoenix. Classic carnitas tacos were on my plate each time. Very GF friendly. only reason i didn't give 5 stars was the last day i was there for lunch, tacos were still good but they were a bit drier than they had my previous 2 trips.

Great Mexican option in downtown Phoenix. We came in on a busy Saturday and our wait was less than 30 minutes. Great cocktails, loved the option to make burritos into bowls and we all loved our food. It was a bit obvious certain items like guacamole had been made in advance but the meals were so well executed. Or waiter was super friendly as well.

Was in town for a conference and in need of a nearby spot for lunch. Got together with a friend and a couple of strangers and headed in. Waited a few short minutes to be seated and our waiter came over almost immediately with menus. We enjoyed complementary chips and salsa while deciding what to order. The service was great and so was the food. I had The Combo Platter, which consisted of a cheese enchilada on flour tortilla, a bean tostada, and a ground beef taco in a crunchy shell.

The place has a great vibe, very lively and spacious. Decor is modern and classy. The service was very good, our server Nick was funny, friendly and efficient. The food was good, too. But it was SO NOISY that we couldn't even have a conversation. Between the bad acoustics and loud music, it was almost painful! Margaritas were average.

This is the second location. I've tried of Blanco cocina and Cantina and I recommend always stopping in. We came in for the margarita special and ended up getting the margarita tree, which is four margaritas whatever flavor you would like. We sat at the bar and we're taking care of quickly. And the location has an indoor outdoor bar so if you're sitting on one side of the bar, you are on the side of the street where you can see everything and be outside. Highly recommend coming to any Blanco you come across.

I was told when in AZ you must have Mexican and Blanco came highly recommended so I gave them a try.... The experience was OUTSTANDING! I sat at the bar and evwn though the place was very busy, service was great Indoor and outdoor bar seating, outdoor tables too. Vibrant atmospere, a little loud due to that but not too loud. Great cocktail menu. Amazing food - fresh and flavorful. Tacos were very generously sized What I ate: TACO - GRILLED MAHI: avocado, cilantro lime slaw, chipotle crema, cotija cheese, pico de galo TACO - CRISPY SWEET POTATO: avocado, queso, chile negra, cotija, pickled onion, cilantro QUESO: pico, avacado, pico MARGARITA - JALAPEÑO & PINEAPPLE: ancho reves chili liaueur, habanero bitters MARGARITA - LAS FRUTAS: blanco tequila, ilegal joven, smashed raspberry & blackberry, cinnamon My rating rationale +1 Service +1 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +1 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value

Came to celebrate with family on Friday and we had a good time. We were a party of 11 and we all kind of arrived at different times. The hostess was friendly and sat us down as we walked in. The server came over right away and took our drink orders. Once the rest of our party arrived, she went ahead and took our food orders. I ordered the Caesar avocado salad + grilled chicken and the table shared the queso + ground beef appetizer. My salad was good and the chicken was flavorful. The salad itself was crunchy and had the right amount of dressing mixed in. The queso was delicious and it was served warm. The salsa and chips were a hit. Service was great and everyone was friendly. The inside is nicely decorated.

Stopped in for a quick bite while downtown and was pleasantly surprised!! We sat at the outside bar. The bartender was stretched thin so service was ok but not fantastic. The chips and salsa were good. I could have taken a little more heat in the salsa though. We ordered 2 fish tacos and enjoyed them. Great flavor and good amount of fish. I love the vibe and ambience and would definitely go back.

Came here for a quick lunch before picking a friend up from the airport. The location was nice, and I was able to find street parking. We were able to get seated quickly as there was no rush yet. My friends and I got a margarita pitcher to start. It was pretty strong, and there was more than enough for each of us to have multiple glasses (3 of us). In addition to the margarita pitcher, we got queso to start, which was delicious. The chips were nice and warm, and we tore the queso up. The queso had a nice, salty flavor that wasn't overpowering, and it was delicious. For entrees, I got the Carne Asada Burrito bowl while my friends got the tacos and another Carne Asada Burrito bowl. The food was delicious. Everything was plated nicely and tasted good. I was very pleased with my meal, as everything had lots of flavor and went well together to create a nice bowl. The waiter we had was okay. He kept forgetting to bring things to the table, and we had to keep reminding him. Nonetheless, I would come back for the drinks, happy hour, and the food.

Have been passing by Blanco for a few months now whenever I would come downtown I finally got a chance to check it out after work. It was the lunch rush so every table was full, so I ending up sitting at the bar. The bar was a little cluttered from the rush, but the bartender quickly cleaned everything up and grabbed me a menu. While checking out the menu I checked out others food and was so excited by the colors and the portion sizes--wow! I decided to get the chicken tings bowl and when I got it, well it was smaller than I expected, but the taste was phenomenal! The chicken was tender and so seasoned well and complimented the queso, sour cream, salsa, and guacamole! Wow! I would come back for another bowl or even some enchiladas which looked amazing!! The staff were kind and patient as I finally decided to get the Agua fresco with pomegranate, which I was told by them was a new menu item. It was super refreshing and so delicious! Minus one star for the flies and nats that would never go away and were super distracting. I think having small individual fans around the bar would be a great help!

Ask the Community - Blanco Cocina + Cantina

Does it cost to make reservations for a party of 10?

We had a party of 12 and they didn't charge us to make a reservation

Would I have to pay for parking?

We parked in garage right next to it and it was free with restaurant validation. Up to 2 hours I believe.

    Is there a kids menu?

No, not that I recall. Blanco Cocina is more a downtown, swanky bar-bar than a place for children. That said, certainly children would be welcome, but no, it's not a kid-friendly venue per se.

The tacos are fantastic, the fries are life-changing, and the hongos fries specifically deserve their own national holiday. This place made the Top 100 food spots in America list, and honestly? Deserved. It's the best taco spot in the country in my opinion and makes places like Torchy's feel like they're competing in junior varsity. The vibe is also way above average for a taco joint; lively, clean, and full of people who look like they just took their first bite and immediately started planning their next visit. You walk up to order (like chipotle) and then take your food to your seat. The line was almost out the door but moved relatively quickly. I tried all the salsas and the orange one was my favorite. None of them are very spicy, in my opinion-they do have some heat but nothing that will blow your pallet out. My 18 month old had the red one and liked it, if that tells you anything. The pastor is what I ate, the gringa and the taco. Both were exceptional. The meat was super flavorful and all of the toppings contributed to the flavor. The gringa-with the cheese was very greasy, so be ware. Not sure if it really needed that, the taco version is perfect to me. Chips come with a big thing of the red salsa and that was good to have. Lots of families were there. They don't have high hairs just fyi.

Out of all the restaurants I had before leaving Arizona, THIS ended up being one of the places I couldn't stop thinking about after I moved away. Ever since leaving, I've randomly craved these tacos constantly. I've tried other taco spots in Denver hoping something would compare, but honestly nothing really hit the same. So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time. And somehow... it was just as good again. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned, and you can literally watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which makes the whole experience even better. There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. Safe to say this place is officially a mandatory stop for me anytime I'm back in Phoenix now.
