Cauliflower 9/10 it was really good but some found it too sweet Samosa sandwich; 10/10. The only appeal to this place is being able to pour your own beer. Everything else from the shit service to the mediocre food. I've come here at least 5x and they make it painful each time. Once I came early with my partner and we had dinner and drinks. Then friends showed up an hour layer, sat at a different table, and ordered separately with their own drink cards. The wait staff combined their check with ours and refused to separate it. How does that even make sense? They refuse to create separate bills for different drink cards which is stupid. They refuse to split checks. They didn't let us participate in happy hour because we didn't want to sit at the bar or outside in the cold. The staff here are terrible and want to make it the worst experience possible. I seriously cannot understand who combines checks for separate parties and checks who show up at separate times! The experience at Blast & Brew was very disappointing in terms of service. We came in about 50 minutes before closing, which should have been enough time for a normal dining experience. Instead, we were told we had to order food by 9:25pm but after being seated, no one came to help us for quite a while with no menus. My husband stood up and requested a menu. That already put us behind, through no fault of our own. Once someone finally came over, everything felt rushed. We were told we couldn't get beer past 9:40pm and by 9:35pm our server (Tejas P.) was already trying to take our card while we were still getting drinks he had said 9:40pm was the last call but rushed us before . The whole experience felt like we were being pushed out the door. To make things worse, staff were staring at us while we were eating, which made it really uncomfortable. When we had asked for to go containers, we also asked for extra ranch to go.. well our server said he didn't think so but my husband was upset and said " what ? You can't get any ranch, really? " He answered " let me check but I'll have to charge extra" we said it was fine and he did end up bringing some out. The food was actually great, but the service completely ruined the experience. I always tip, even when service isn't perfect but this was the first time I felt it wasn't deserved. No customer should feel rushed or uncomfortable like this, especially when they arrived within business hours. We ate here after a day at Great America. The vibe of the place is cool and we got sat right away. The menu blends together American with Indian flavors. I got the beef bowl which was really good. And the servers were pleasant and helped me figure out how to use the beer card. It's a pour your own style and there was a great selection of beers. I would suggest clearer directions on how to use the card could be posted. I like all the tv's around but they were all on the same thing, maybe more of a variety of sports options-it was all college football at the time and no mlb games being shown. They also don't allow any type of menu substitutions. We ordered a kids pizza and they couldn't do half cheese half pepperoni. My partner also couldn't switch the type of bread he wanted on his burger. Service was a little slow, we had to flag someone down in order to get boxes and the check. Choices are very basic and not really even craft beers. When you pour it, it's mostly foam that comes out which you of course get charged for. My sister in law and I were looking for a brewery spot to relax and enjoy a nice cold beer. We came across this place, and at first glance there wasn't much parking. The location is right underneath some apartments. We go inside and the girl that works in the front looked like she didn't want to help us. The second girl was polite at first, she even helped us figure out how to serve ourselves the beer. The only thing i like about this place is that you self serve the beer. You get a card, load it in and self serve. The beer selection was great, and you get to pick your own glass. I served myself a beer that tasted like coffee and another one that was from Mexico. Both were amazing! As time went by we noticed no one was checking up on us, so we had to go up to one of the workers to take our food order. We got the Buffalo chicken bone-in wings and steak bites. As i cut open one of the wings, it looks very pink. I cut another one and same thing. I asked the server, respectfully, if it was supposed to be cooked this way and she said yes, that it is well cooked. To be honest, i couldn't eat it after that. However, the steak bites were good. The place was slow when we went in around 7pm and slowly picked up maybe an hour later. There's also outside seating. Overall, I didn't feel like the service was good. The ladies looked like they were not trying to be at work. I don't think i will be going back any time soon. The restaurant was casual but stylish with a very comfortable vibe. They have patio seating but it was WAY too hot to sit outside so we opted to stay where the AC could keep us cool. Let me start by raving about the customer service. Absolutely fantastic! We all agreed that it was some of the best any of us have experienced in awhile. 4 stars for that alone! I wish I would have asked our servers name but I didn't. He was great though. Super patient as we couldn't decide what to order and was nice enough to walk with my daughter and brother over to the self serve beer wall and explained how it worked. Very cool concept by the way. Here's what we ordered: Giant pretzel - so fresh, fluffy and hot! Steak Bites - OMG GET THESE!! Tender and juicy and the dippy sauce was outstanding. Kids Mac-n-cheese - at first this was odd. Looked super soupy so I was skeptical. But as it cooled down, the cheese firmed up a bit. Not the best I've had but certainly tasty. This is from the kids section but we shared it with the table and it was licked clean. Burrata pizza with arugula - this was tasty. BBQ Chicken Pizza - this was good and the bbq sauce had a good tang. Cowboy Pizza - super flavorful with a slightly spicy kick. Beef Slider Burgers - loved the grilled flavor and super juicy. 3 to an order. Steak Sandwich - amazing flavor and the steak was so tender. This came with fries. Side of Fries - the kiddo in the group ordered the sliders which didn't come with fries so of course we needed to get him some and they were thin and perfectly salted. Yum! 3 of us got beers, 1 had wine and the kiddo had a soda. The bill was over $200 for 5 of us so not cheep but I personally think the quality of the food, service and venue was on point. If you're getting appetizers or are a light eater (like me) plan to share a pizza. These are large enough to feed two people if not three. All of us brought 1/2 of each pizza home with us. But the crust is made I house and was great! You'll notice that the menu has several Indian dishes and our server mentioned that even the non-Indian options had a little Indian flare. Love it all. I have been here 3 times now. Lunch sandwiches, pasta, and appetizers are consistently good but pizza has been served undercooked. 2 times with less than 4 people and 1 time with 9 people. Every time I have come, the service is very inexperienced and the kitchen can not get the food out together. It isnt group size, when I ate there with 3 people, we still waited at least 10 minutes for the 3rd lunch. Self service beer works well. However table service for drinks is poorly trained / takes way too long to order and arrive / they never come to ask about refills or additional orders. The concept of using a card to pour beers yourself sounded intriguing to one of us (I had been to this place before) and off we went. By the time we sat down, we were hungrier than we realized and we wolfed down the food quickly. Everything was delicious, better than any other bar/pub has to offer for our taste but slightly missing something at times. Walked in here for lunch. As soon as I opened the door the host is looking at me like i was some stranger and wondering what I was doing there. So i had to tell him i would like to dine here. Presentation wise the salad looked great. BUT, the chicken was not fresh. It was cold, hard exterior and dryer than the Mojave desert. Had to tell my waiter that the chicken was old cold and hard. The burger was well cooked and seasoned, bacon could have been crispier. My husband and I were trying to escape the crowds in SJ proper this weekend and ventured to Blast & Brew which is attached to the SOFI apartment buildings. We loved the easy parking, dog friendly seating, and the service! Our waitress Pinky was so sweet and brought water out for our dog. My husband also enjoyed his beers and pizza. I had the Benedict without the chorizo and it was okay. The smashed avocado tasted too much like store bought Guac for my liking and was overpowering. Overall, good portions and priced fairly for the bay ($14 Benedict, $19 pizza, $9 for two self service pours). I probably wouldn't come again but my husband would for a guys' night! read more
