This place is awesome. The score is just for the food, since I don't drink alcohol. The ambiance is classic dive bar and super fun. On to the food: This place has great burgers and chicken sandwiches, but if you've ever wandered by you can smell them grilling chickens. They're delicious overall, but a little inconsistent - sometimes it's a little too salty, other times the skin isn't rendered enough in a spot, or the meat is slightly dry in a spot. I'm making it sound bad, but I order this like half the time I'm there because it's delicious enough the inconsistency is not worth skipping this for. If you are in a hurry to clog your arteries the French fries with blue cheese and bacon will satisfy your most primal cravings while simultaneously wiping a year off your lifespan in a single order. Might be worth it. It's an absolutely huge portion. Whole plate is probably 5000 calories. This place is a local gem and you shouldn't miss it. Just know what it is and have a fun time. read more

My wife, oldest son and I enjoyed another delish lunch at St. John's yesterday. We got lucky and found a parking space close-by, which can sometimes be a challenge, since it's really popular. You can dine inside or outside on the patio. We chose to eat inside. The restaurant was cool, thanks to their A/C. I was happy when we got in line to order and there were only a few guests in front of us. The line moved quickly and we placed our order, grabbed our soft drink cups, grabbed our buzzer and found a table. The buzzer went-off and we grabbed our food. My wife and I enjoyed a Bacon Swiss Burger, our son ordered a Double Cheeseburger and we ordered a basket of Garlic Fries. They delivered an order of Loaded Fries to us by mistake. We told the server we didn't order it, but he said it was their mistake, so it was on the house. Our burgers were good-sized, flavorful and filling. The Garlic Fries were awesome, especially if you like garlic. We only ate about half of the Loaded Fries, since it was just so much food. Help yourself to refills of soda, if you like. The staff is always courteous and friendly. They also bus the tables regularly, which is appreciated. This is one of my fave places to enjoy a burger! read more

I've been coming to St. John's for years. I lived nearby from 1998 to 2010 and used to eat there almost every week for their specials. I live in San Jose now, so I don't make it over as often, but I've always considered it one of my favorite places for a great burger. In fact, I was just telling a coworker this week how good their burgers were, which is what convinced me to stop in for lunch today. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment. I ordered a burger, my wife had the chicken tenders, and we shared an order of cheese fries. The burger arrived completely undercooked. The pictures don't even do it justice--it wasn't just rare, it was raw. After a few bites I realized the meat wasn't even warm in the center. Since they use pre-formed patties, I'd think cooking them consistently would be one of the easier things to get right. By the time I realized how raw it was, I'd already eaten a few bites, and the meal was ruined. We ended up spending about $50 on a lunch that was essentially inedible. It was also 1:00 p.m. on a Saturday, and the restaurant was surprisingly empty. Maybe that's a sign that things have changed, but it's sad to see. They were packed during the games, though the line moved fairly quickly. If ordering only beer, orders were placed directly at the bar. Food came out quickly as the grill was constantly being reloaded. After ordering, I was given a pager that buzzed once everything was ready. The pick up station was located near condiment counters lined with half opened bottles of hot sauce, mustard, and mayonnaise. I did appreciate the ketchup variety, which included original, chipotle, and curry options. *Dragonfruit, Passionfruit Sour: pleasantly acidic and fruit forward. This unfortunately came from a can rather than the tap. I was offered a chilled glass, which I accepted, though the can itself was not refrigerated so the final pour ended up disappointingly lukewarm. *Onion Rings: disappointing batter execution. They were already half soggy despite us eating them immediately. The coating lacked airiness and everything had a one dimensional chewiness. I also wished both the batter and onion carried more sweetness and developed flavor. *Sweet Potato Fries: suffered from the same sogginess as the onion rings. The portion was generous for $8, though these largely served as a vehicle for the various ketchup options rather than standing on their own. Oddly enough, the women's bathroom was far cleaner than the dining area itself. Our table appeared unwiped when we sat down, and the sauce station was noticeably greasy. I ended up avoiding most of the condiments because the bottles had a visible and tangible film coating them. Unfortunately, I felt somewhat ill after finishing the meal and definitely noticed the effects afterward. St. John's has a strong beer program and great game day atmosphere, but the cleanliness issues were difficult to overlook. The entire space could benefit from a much more thorough deep clean. Glad I came, want to try more. It's a sports bar, which honestly doesn't appeal to me. But, we need local food and quick and a Gluten Free option and this fit the bill. First, I like the glass. There are stained glass windows at the front and in the ceiling that add beauty and character. It was order at the counter, seat yourself, and pickup your own food. We came here on a Monday night and ordered the Old Fashioned Cheeseburger, Pepper Steak Philly Cheesesteak Garlic fries. My favorite was the garlic fries. Old Fashioned Cheeseburger: We got it Med-well and the burger was okay. The bun was soft, but the bun was a lot larger than the burger patty. Pepper Steak Cheesesteak: this was a bit salty for me and was just okay. I would rather order the burger over the Philly. Garlic Fries: this was the redeeming factor for this place. The portion was good and there was a lot of fresh minced garlic on top and throughout the pile of fries. This place has a lot of TVs playing different sports games and there is a station for ketchup, curry ketchup, chipotle ketchup, honey mustard, and mustard. Came here for dinner and had a genuinely bad experience. It's a bar in a shopping center, so the parking isn't too bad and it has the usual bar / dim lighting. The booths are tight if you're bigger (I had to sit a table ). Service wise, you order, pay, and pick up when the food is ready, so neutral there. Food wise, I ordered the double cheeseburger and it looked great. Two big patties, super juicy, not too many toppings. However, it was salty. REALLY salty. After taste in your mouth salty. I took it back for a new one, and the new one was just as salty, but also quite rare in the middle, ruining the entire experience. We were in the area found this place on yelp and decided to try it. Plenty of parking but the place is tucked away in the very back. There's a ton of seating outside with umbrellas. You walk in go to the back where you order. The menu is at the top. I got a Philly cheesesteak. You get a buzzer to get your food. I really liked that the lights were a little dim. A lot of seating inside and the booths go up high for privacy. There's there's a little bar by the cashier as well. There was a lot of TV's so you can see the game. Granted, it's been 10 years since I've been here and I have many fond memories of this place. It WAS the best hamburger joint in town. NOW, what a dump it's become. They are cutting corners everywhere they can. I had the Cobb Salad and all they put was small pieces of chopped chicken, chopped egg, barely could see any avocado. And their fries, OMG! Why bother serving them. They're using the cheapest frozen fries they could find. You can clearly see some of the potatoes were either old, bruised or rotten. They are not the nice big fries they used to serve. I can no longer recommend this place. You're better off going to Chili's for their burgers and fries. So much better! read more

Has a bar area with craft beers on tap and it's a great place to watch any games if your sports fan. TV's all throughout the place and has outdoor seating as well. People were friendly, but was really disappointed with the food. What we ordered: Hickory Burger: Way too much mayonnaise on the bun, patty was seasoned very well, but the burger was very soggy from the bbq sauce. Took one bite and my burger broke lol. Overall ok. Buffalo wings: Wings were a bit overcooked and were too crunchy. They did provide us a lot of ranch, but the sauce on it was a bit overcooked powering. Not my favorite. Basket of Fries: The best thing ordered. They were crispy and really good. I've gotten several items on the menu such as: double burger, chili burger, jalepeno burger, patty melt, etc. Each time the burger has been cooked exactly the way I want it. Surprisingly the bun does not get soggy even with a 30 min car ride home. The fries though do and at times are super oily. They can also get really hard and hollow so it feels like you're eating a potato chip instead. Other than that though it's been a good experience. The prices are mostly in line with expectations and the ambiance and decor are welcoming. They have both tables and booths along with a bar. Dressing on the side without asking is a nice touch. Their rotating beer selection is great. We had a group of six going to Top Golf, and we found St. John's on Yelp. It's in a strip mall that seems a little run down. But, parking was easy. The Warriors were playing so the place was very busy and it seemed to be a lot of regulars. The process is stand in line, order, take a number, and food is delivered to the table. The food was great! We had burgers, salads, and chicken sandwiches. Burgers were large! The curry and chipotle ketchups were nice additions. The beers included several local breweries: well done. Pints are kind of on the expensive side at about nine bucks but if you get a pitcher, it's a very good deal. The the draft list is good with local berries.. Regular Coors is pretty cheap. We started off with garlic fries and this was humongous can feed a lot of people with it. It was fresh and crispy and had a lot of garlic. It was nice that there was a nice ketchup bar with regular ketchup, honey, mustard, chipotle, ketchup, and curry, ketchup. I got the bacon burger and it was delicious. I'm really sad to write this as I normally love their food and bartenders. However My husband forgot his bag on the back of our bar chairs when we were there for a quick burger and beer today. Once we got home he realized he didn't have his bag so we called. We stated we were sitting at the bar and asked if they could look for his bag on the back of the bar chair. The woman asked where we left the bag and my husband and I looked at each other confused because we just stated where we left it. My husband joined the conversation and stated at the bar on the back of a chair. She asked if we left it outside after that. We were even more confused after that. We were put on hold and when the woman came back she said it wasn't there. My husband thought to to check if anything in his bag had an AirTag and it did. It showed his bag as at St. John's. I called back, the same woman answered. I asked for the manager. She refused and said call in the morning. I asked for the shift lead and she hung up. I called back and I told her the bag was there and she hung up. I called three more times and she continued to hang up. Finally I called and I told her I wouldn't hold and that we had an AirTag and the bag was there. She finally admitted yes, the bag was there. She stated she had no idea to ask the bar. I let her know I told her initially when I called I shared we left it on the back of a bar chair. She told me I was yelling at her. She was definitely intoxicated or otherwise impaired, as she had no memory of our previous call and had irrational anger about being wrong. So unfortunate, as their BBQ is pretty good. read more

Decent burger spot in Sunnyvale. I used to go there frequently during the late 90s to late 00s. Their 1/2 off specials were a great bargain for a 99-Percenter like me. Burgers are still great, including the garlic fries. The prices have risen significantly over the years, but it's still affordable. Like Jeff h. said, it sad to see it empty on a Saturday. Prior to the pandemic, the waiting line used to stretch to the door. I walked right up the front on a Saturday evening. Although, there were times when it was super-busy that I wished it was shorter. I've been a customer at St. John's for over 15 years, and until yesterday, every visit has been a phenomenal experience. That's why this experience stood out so much. On May 30, 2026, I stopped in with my father to order a burger. When it was my turn to order, I asked for a plain cheeseburger and then clarified shortly afterward that I wanted mayo added. The employee taking my order, Cesar (the gentleman with glasses ), responded in a tone that both my father and I felt was unnecessarily snarky. He told me that if I ask for a plain cheeseburger, I'm going to get "a burger with cheese, that's it," and that I needed to be more specific about what I wanted. I was surprised by the response because I didn't see anything unusual about how I placed the order, and I've ordered in a similar way many times over the years without any issue. In fact, Cesar himself has taken my orders before without any problems. I've always appreciated the food and service at St. John's, which is why this interaction was disappointing. Everyone can have an off day, but the tone and approach used during what should have been a simple order made me feel unwelcome. I hope this was an isolated incident, because my experiences here over the past 15 years have otherwise been consistently excellent. read more
