To drink, I got the On the Wagon mocktail which is basically a variation of a Moscow Mule. I really did like this mocktail. It was so refreshing. We came on a Saturday night and the place was pretty empty... Food 2/5 - The kids had burgers and fries and my daughter's burger was still pretty pink inside. Thought that was kinda weird to do for a children's burger but the kids all ate their meals. I actually didn't see the pink of her burger until she was done and had already eaten about 3/4ths of it. The fries were actually the best part. I had the nachos and the chips def needed salt. I ate about half because I was starving but they would've been better with more beans and sauce as it was still quite bland. The nachos look better than they tasted that's for sure. Atmosphere 5/5 - This was the best place for hanging out with friends and it had plenty for the kids to run off and do. Jenga, hoola hoops, corn hole Service 2/5 - We waited a really long time to get someone to take our order and then another 20 mins or so for the check when we were done. I ordered the chicken plate, and the chicken was incredibly dry, tough, and completely lacking in flavor. It was honestly difficult to eat. After just a few bites, I ended up throwing the entire plate away. Paying $24 for food of this quality is simply unacceptable. My friends ordered the burgers, and they were just as disappointed. None of us enjoyed our meals, which made the experience even more frustrating. I'm writing this review in the hope that the owner sees it and shares it with the management team. The kitchen really needs stronger quality control before dishes are served to customers. Good service alone can't make up for poor food. If the food quality doesn't improve, I think it will be difficult to earn repeat customers after their first visit. I came with a colleague for lunch, I ordered the birria tacos and she ordered the tinga chicken nachos. The birria had an interesting smoky sweet taste to it, so did the consume. Was not particularly a fan. The nachos were decent, chicken had good flavor, but there was something different about the cheese. Let's do the good first. Clara's Junction gets 5 stars for the space alone. It's a legit, much-needed spot for the South Bay -- a cool indoor/outdoor bar setup where you can watch sports, hang out with friends, bring your dog, or chill with your kids. The atmosphere is easily the best part of the experience. The problem is the food just doesn't match the price. The burger looked pretty small for $19, even if it was one of the cheaper burger options. For that kind of money, you can go to The Stand in Santa Clara or Hella Good at San Pedro Market and get a lot more food that tastes better too. The nachos looked great when they came out, but once you started digging in, there just weren't enough toppings to go around. Too many bare chips underneath. Compare that to places like Big Al's, where the toppings are actually distributed well and you get plenty in every bite. The pretzel was good, and the beer cheese had good flavor, but it was also a little grainy. Overall, the space is great, but the food is very mid, especially for the price. You can get better-tasting food and more of it for the same money elsewhere. That's a shame, because the location itself has a lot going for it -- but for us, the space alone isn't enough to bring us back, especially with places like San Pedro Square offering much better food at a similar price point. read more

Oh my god. I just had the best pulled pork sandwich of my entire life here, from "The Pit" food truck attached to Clara's Junction. One of my favorite dog friendly bar! They only have outdoor seating and sometimes have food trucks in the patio. Parking can be very limited and you may have to find street parking during busy times, but whenever I went it was pretty empty. The vibe and atmosphere of the place is super nice, and it's a great place to chill and hang out with friends. However, the food itself is mediocre. The only food option that I really liked was the burger meat patty-- which is somewhat fatty and crispy, and I love how they can also cook one for your dog as well. Cocktail drinks are also not the best... but it's just good to enjoy one while sitting outside. They had several TVs and had the volume up to stream the playoffs, which was what we wanted and why we chose to come to the restaurant. The restaurant also has outdoor seating with heaters but it was very windy. The bathrooms were clean. Honestly, I thought the food we had ordered was average. We mostly ordered appetizers and some drinks. I give the food a 3/5, it wasn't anything special to be honest. But they had a lot of finger foods which I was in the mood for. I thought the Chipotle Cheese Nachos were kind of a rip off because there was barely any cheese and they charge $4+ for the chicken tinga and we barely got any meat on it, I don't think I would order it again. I would try the entrees on the menu if I return. I thought the 9ers Mule was good, but they only had VSOP Hennessy so those shots were expensive. I thought service was good, 5/5. The servers and bartenders were attentive and got us what we needed. They also were clearing our tables efficiently. I've had this place on my to-visit list for a while now, and some friends and I finally stopped by last night. They have an outdoor area with tables and cornhole, as well as indoor seating which is very industrial-style. It wasn't super busy when we went although it was around dinner time. When you go in it's not super clear if you're supposed to seat yourself, order at the counter, or order at one of the booths if they're open (they have a bbq one and another one, but they were both closed when we went). Some of the tables have QR codes to order and some don't. Eventually we just sat down inside and hoped that's what we were supposed to do. We were there for a few minutes without being greeted and were about to just get up and leave but someone finally brought us menus. We ordered nachos, an Arnold Palmer, the Zucca, and the CJ smash. Both sandwiches also came with fries. We didn't order the nachos with any meat, and they didn't come with a lot of toppings. There were a lot of plain chips left on the plate after a few minutes. The flavor was just alright but I wouldn't order them again. I did like the beer cheese they put on it though. The burger, sandwich, and fries were incredibly, incredibly salty. I love french fries and could only finish a few because of how overwhelmingly salty they were. Depending on what you are having the fries with, I'm not sure the herbs on the fries will always pair well. I didn't finish the burger because of how salty everything was. My friend said the sandwich was better than the nachos. Our waitress was MIA after we received our food, so we finally flagged down someone else to ask for the check. Great new spot! I love really close by and came by on a Friday for happy hour. At first, we weren't given a happy hour menu, but got one after we requested for it. I got the croquetas and the chicken tinga tacos. The croquetas were delicious and loved the spice. The chicken tinga tacos were a little dry for my liking but can't complain for $10. I think having a nice salsa on the side would definitely elevate it but I just like sauces in general so may just be me! Their cocktail selections were great too. Went for the FIFA WC morning watch party buffet and they had food sitting out in the sun, potato salad, coleslaw, macaroni. Burnt add wings, boiled soggy ribs, also in the sun with no cover. We ordered a combo platter from The Pit, which is their barbecue menu. I'm still a little fuzzy on why there is a difference from the Pit and their in-house menu. But, the platter was on-pointe. Up in the Pub Fairly new brewpub located in the shadow of Levi's Stadium, at the old Carl's Jr. that had held down this spot for many, many years. This is a large location that is purportedly 18k-sq-ft "social gathering hub" that, on certain nights (Fri - Sun), features not one, not two--but three separate restaurants on-site. They have a taco truck, American BBQ stand, and a full-service bar/restaurant. We went to eat at the latter, as a burger and beer sounded great. The Good: *Friendly service *20+ beers on-tap plus a full bar *Great selection of hot sauce at the table--and you don't even have to ask! *Private lot to park, plus street parking. *The Whole 9 Yards Burger was solid and delicious. I really enjoyed the fresh compliment of veggies on top, brioche-style bun, and the beef was tasty, albeit slightly over my requested "medium." The fries were crispy and terrific. *Carissa (aka The Salmon Queen) said her Pan-seared Salmon plate was cooked perfectly and the smashed potatoes were a real hit with both of us. The dish did lack a little seasoning, but nothing the concomitant salt shaker at the table couldn't fix. The Meh: *Suya Wings were tasty but desperately needed some kind of dipping sauce as they were dry and definitely not fried-up fresh. *While they do have a large beer selection, it was really disappointing seeing that they were mostly macrobrews and very little local brews. The closest were from Ft Bragg and San Diego--not exactly "local." The Ugly: *Pricing is geared towards the 9er gameday crowd, as almost everything there was absurdly priced. $12 for a pint?? I've only paid that at Michelin-starred restaurants, and not a brewpub. They really should consider two menus: gameday (i.e., $$$) and non-gameday (i.e., $$). Just a thought. Conclusion: Overall, the food and experience was good but with those prices I will probably not be in any rush to return. Second time here. First was a private event and as much as I wanted to love it, I found it a bit dry. So, I decided to give it a try on a normal night. They are closed Mondays & Tuesdays, so I came on a Wednesday. Only one other person at the bar @ 5:15pm. So I sat and ordered chips & salsa & a drink. Turns out, it was Trivia night! That said, they do have a great outdoor set up, with at least 2 fire pit and seats around it, to several big tables and lots of heaters that can be moved around. I imagine that most reviews are from people going to the stadium and pregamed up. Very much bar and sports food but nothing was great. Pretzel was average, croquettes average, tacos were not good in our opinions. We didn't like the fish tacos and the birra might be the worst I've had in the bay. The brat was ok but the mix of pub cheese and mustard was gross. They are fine with the pretzel separately but together is not good. Service was ok but nothing stellar.
