I went to Blaze Pizza with some of my co-workers during lunch and was pleasantly surprised at how efficient their operation was. This particular location is a good size with outdoor seating and about 12 tables inside. When you approach the counter you are pleasantly greeted by one of the workers there who asks for your name and the kind of pizza you would like. The pizzas come in a pretty decent size of 11", and you can add as many toppings to it that you want, all for $7.75. They do have a cheaper option to go with just a cheese pizza, but where is the fun in that? So I decide to go with the BBQ chicken pizza: grilled chicken, mozzarella, red onion, banana peppers, gorgonzola, bbq sauce drizzle. This place operates very much like Chipotle. The first worker handed me off to the 2nd worker as I walked along the display counter, and she asked me for the meat and cheese options that I wanted on my pizza (after adding the sauce to it) as well as if I wanted any extra oregano or rock salt. *HINT* Don't add any rock salt, some of my co-workers did and found it to be a little too salty for their liking. I just stuck with the standard options and added some extra oregano. I then went to the next worker who asked me about the veggies that I wanted to add to my pizza. I went with the standard BBQ chicken ones that they recommended as well as olives and mushrooms. The last stop was the cashier where I paid and had the option to get dessert (Smore pie) or drinks. Into the pizza oven the pizza went, under the watchful eye of one of the employees who helped to ensure the pizza was cooked to perfection. In a few short minutes my pizza was ready and my name was called. The pizza was thin and crispy and I enjoyed eating all of the toppings, especially the gorgonzola cheese. It had a nice pungent taste to it. I really enjoyed the meal and felt satisfied. I found it to be more filling than the pizza at mod-Pizza. I will definitely be back and mix up the toppings a bit, just so I get to try more selections. read more

She texted me after seeing a check in: "What are you doing here? I thought you disliked this place! I took it off of bookmark because of you!". Egads, I used my Yelping for evil instead of good because I forgot to update my Blaze review. Let's rectify that! After my September 2 Star review, I really had no desire to visit Blaze again...or go down in a Blaze of Glory...or find out what a Blaze is in my son's minecraft game...or watch the movie "Blaze"...or find out why the Bakersfield minor league team is called The Blaze (I would have gone with 99'ers or The Dirty Air but that's just me). But, I received a couple of free passes to try them again (which accounts for one visit with mini-me), then we stopped in again today after a beach outing (second Blaztacular outing with mini-me where we were throwing a football and checking out tide pools). Both visits made me warm up a bit more to this Chipolte/Subway/Togo's type of concept. The pizza will never be great (just like the service inspirations in the preceding sentence are never great) but it serves a solid niche of being able to get a pie when you are limited on time. Plus they are open late, give you unlimited toppings, have refillable sodas and proximity to UCI occasionally means the scenery isn't bad (but only in a strict potential baby sitter fashion as unless I win the lottery that's far outside my age zone...Ha! Ha!). The service here is generally good except the tables can get messy because, as a Masters graduate of UCI, i can honestly say young college kids can be pigs. Anteaters as pigs, very funny :) And surfer dude trying to pick up hot brunette, get some game dude! Listening to you was like watching Carrot Top try and pick up Salma Hayek, just disturbing. It had probably been close to 2 years since our initial visit to Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza but low and behold we have returned. I have been wanting to come back for awhile but do to the location we are very rarely in the area and I try to avoid the 405 Freeway like the plague. After giving my wife a few options for places to eat she chose here and we made a special trip over due to her wanting to grab a milkshake from a neighboring business down the street. What surprised me the most during our latest visit was the fact that place was not at all busy. Despite the college crowd the business was slow during the time we were there although the center itself was still busy. Me and the wife both decided to go the creation router this go around and I am happy that we did. I am sure everyone at this point is familiar with the process these places use by now so I won't get too much into that but I do think they do it well here. After quickly looking over the selection of toppings I made my decision. I opted to go with the classic red sauce and mozzarella for the base. For the protein I went with pepperoni and applewood smoke bacon pieces and finished everything off with green peppers, red onions, garlic and a dash of oregano. The pie is cooked in minutes and ready for pickup at the front counter. The flavors in the pizza were great and I definitely loved the choices I made. The garlic had great taste and each ingredient could be tasted throughout and really amalgamated together nicely into one flavorful pie. Despite the flavors being tremendous the thinness of the crust had a major bearing on the pizza. With each and every bite you had to either fold or manipulate the pizza in some way, shape or form or it would simply flop over. I like thin crust but to me this was a smidge to thin overall as it simply could not hold the weight of the toppings. To round out the meal my wife ordered a s'more pie to share and two drinks. The drinks were an easy choice as we both went with the Blood Orange Lemonade which is far and away one of the best tasting lemonades I have ever had. I absolutely love this stuff and would easily bathe in it if possible its that good. The s'more pie was good as well but a bit too sweet and chewy for me so my wife went ahead and finished it off. I really like Blaze Fast Fire'd and I am happy to see that we will now have 2 other closer locations to home to visit in La Habra and Santa Ana (Mainplace Mall). The flavors, pricing and service are all good but the fact that the pizza would not hold its weight in toppings (when I have gotten similar elsewhere that did) I cannot give them a higher rating. Here's the next food fad invading a neighborhood near you -- customized, build-your-own, thin-crust pizzas. You either get to choose your own toppings, or just pick a signature pizza on the menu. While I've never been to Pieology, there are plenty of other competitors waiting in the wings. Today marked the official opening day of one of those competitors called Blaze, and being a huge pizza fan, I had to check it out. I love all types of pizza, but the bubbly, crispy, thin-crust pizza is my ultimate favorite. When the mood strikes, I'll make my own dough from scratch at home, and grill it on the Weber kettle so the crust gets a smoky, charred flavor. But make no mistake, it's a bit of work doing everything at home, gathering all the ingredients, making sure the charcoal is lit, then carefully watching the crust because it grills REALLY fast. At Blaze, it takes a mere 2 minutes per pie. I tried the following pizzas: Green stripe - pesto drizzle over grilled chicken, red peppers, chopped garlic, mozzarella, arugula BBQ chicken - grilled chicken, mozzarella, red onion, pepperoncini, crumbled gorgonzola, bbq sauce drizzle The crust is the most important factor here -- and Blaze does a decent job. It's nice and crispy, but it still has a little bit of that springy chewiness within the dough, but resembles a bit too much like flatbread. While it's no Mozza with all of it's bubbly, crackling, and airy crust glory -- it sufficiently holds all of its ingredients. Susceptible to sogginess, even the middle part of the crust was crispy. The toppings were nice and fresh. The pesto sauce from green stripe pizza clearly stood out, while the classic finish of the arugula gave it that subtle bitterness in the end. If I had to choose, I'd learn towards the big and bold flavors from the BBQ chicken. You get the tart from the pepperoncini peppers, the strong-flavored gorgonzola cheese, finished off with a bit of sweetness from the BBQ sauce. Blaze was started from the makers of the Wetzel Pretzel franchise, so I half expected them to sell pretzels for dessert. But they did have smore pies instead, which I'll have to try another time. With plenty of other options from their menu, I'll definitely swing by whenever I get that thin crust pizza itch. And at $6.85 each, they are priced just right as well. read more

Make-your-own-pizza places are all the craze these days and I haven't caught on to any of them....until now! If Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza's are any indication of how delicious these eateries are, I've been missing out! As you arrive, you'll be eye struck with hints of red from the walls/ceilings, perhaps to foreshadow the plentiful flavors to come. And when it comes to flavor, you'll have your choices here. You can build your own, or choose from the 8 different signature pizzas they have available--and they're all only $8.05 cents each! Just imagine a Subway for Pizzas...but way cooler and fun. The concept of Blaze Pizza is a good one, perhaps borrowed from Pielogy to some degree, but IMHO, if you're going to imitate or copy someone else's concept, then you have to kick it up a notch, otherwise, it's just a poor imitation of the original. Considering where Blaze Pizza is located, it will undoubtedly do well, especially at the price they're charging, it WILL DEFINITELY do well. We came here on a late night and it was still buzzing with college students, and a bunch of older males. We stood in line and ordered 3 pizzas, we chose from the ones listed and didn't make our own -- which didn't take too long to be ready. The toppings are okay.... two of the three pizzas had almost identical toppings, perhaps due to our own fault -- and tasted fine. What was really dismal were the crusts. It was neither thin nor thick pizza crust, at least not 'real' pizza crust. It tasted like a dry flatbread, with a weird texture, almost like a thicker lavash bread consistency. Needless to say, even for the price, it's not enough to bring me back again when I'm craving pizza. However, having said that, the price, the speed, and its freshness will appeal to someone like my son, so for that, I will have to say, Blaze Pizza found its niche by placing themselves in the middle of the UCI campus. read more

Ever been to Chipotle? This concept is the same. Order one of their creations or create your own. I've done both and been pleased with the results. I like their offerings - fresh toppings and a fun lively college crowd. It's located across from In-n-Out and near Berkeley Dog. There's plenty of seating inside and they also have some specialty drinks and take out boxes near the drink machine so that you can self serve and not have to hunt someone down for a box. Thin crust isn't usually my thing but I don't mind it here. I just don't like the salads. I think they could use more flavor and originality. The price is great. I think everything is at about $10 and under so it's definitely appealing. Service really needs to be worked on though. Don't hire college kids that don't really care and just want a paycheck. It's across from "Berkley Dog". The decor is simple and casual. Lots of seating both inside and outside. You can see the cool oven at the end of queue. Quick service. Plenty of parking. I haven't been to "Pieology", so I can't compare this place with it. Basically "Subway" style pizza - you get into the queue (from the left side of the counter), ask for whatever the toppings you want (UNLIMITED toppings for "Make Your Own" pizza) or the set flavor combination (if you were too lazy to pick your own toppings. There're plenty of choices. The same price - $7.45 (dirt cheap for the quality!) - as "Make Your Own" ). They make it and cook it in the over right away. - Gluttony Expedition - Meat lover: Unless you put more toppings or Gorgonzola, it is missing something... Toppings were sorta skimpy, but the pizza is very thin and not that big. I like the portion very well - not too little, not too much. Meats themselves weren't bad, but it was weak as a whole. Veggie out : Gorgonzola added great flavor on this vegetable pizza. Great! I think it's better to make your own pizza to put more toppings (unlimited!), though this is good. Thin (it's different from Italian one, but this is good despite of it) & crispy crust with great flavors! My favorite. - Conqueror's Deduction - This place is surprisingly good! - $7.45 with UNLIMITED toppings is unheard of. So cheap! - This thin & crispy pizza is pretty good! Great crust & flavors surprisingly - Not that big but great portion - Open till 11 pm. Convenient for UCI students and more. Cheap yet good quality pizza. I had heard a lot about the war between Pieology and Blaze, and I must say Pieology beats my heart for many different reasons. I first tried Blaze last month and I wasn't too impressed. I went back this past week and that's when I was a little upset. This place is a pizza parlor, but mainly a "build your own pizza" place. Every time I walk in, the workers don't have the friendliest look on their faces. And the both times I went, the workers who built my pizza were a little rude to me. I always get the build your own for $7.50 which is the same price for a create your own in Pieology. I don't like the texture of the marinara sauce here, the cheeses look the same, and the taste of the meat is a lot better at Pieology. As for the vegetables, they do look fresh but I prefer the taste of Pieology's veggies. Pieology cuts them differently too. Mushrooms, tomatoes, and the bell peppers are chopped vertically here for some reason. I don't know if this makes a difference to anyone but I'm just throwing it out there. Something that makes me a little mad about this place is the portions. They barely give you a taste of their food. They put the chicken in the middle of my pizza whereas at Pieology they'll throw the chicken all over my pizza. And they clustered the tomatoes in the middle too. I don't really like that. I want my pizza to be equally distributed. Another downside that hits me is the wait. The wait is too long here and I get impatient. And this leads to one result, my pizza is always overcooked to a point where it's melting. When I'm about to eat, my crust melts and falls. And the vegetables like the bell peppers and tomatoes looked melted too. And the cheese burned my mouth and had that ugly greasy coloring. It ended up burning my mouth. I was so disappointed and I ended up throwing my other half away. This doesn't happen at Pieology, my crust stays stiff and crunchy and the veggies look slightly warm and toasty. I will give them another shot and bump them up a star for their customer service for now... albeit it's been a year since I've been here but they took some time to retain business. ----------- This is my second outing to a make your own pie place and I left a little underwhelmed, for a number of reasons. Ordering is pretty easy here, I wanted to make some customizations to my signature pizza and the worker was not having it... um, I'm the customer? Aren't you supposed to make this experience pleasant for me (she had no visible smile and borderline rolled her eyes when I asked for garlic on one of my pizzas... it's just garlic!)? In any case, one half of my pizza ended up being way too salty... I don't think I modified it in a way there would be more sodium in it, but it just so happened to come out that way. I liked the other half of my pizza, it was one of their signature ones that has white sauce, garlic, etc. Pizza didn't take too long to cook, love that the crust in itself is rather thin. So if I were in college, yes, I would want to come here in a heartbeat. But being a bit older and wiser, I can take my business elsewhere. read more

3.25 I had to see what this place was all about. It was not bad. But it was not great. But, for a single serving pizza with all of the ingredients that you want from the list at just over eight bucks, not a bad price. I ordered almost all of the meats, almost all of the cheeses and almost all of the vegetables to try to get a combination pizza. As you can see from my photo, they are fairly generous with the ingredients which you choose from the area in front of you. A Subway version of a pizza place. After that, they bake it in a very hot oven for about five minutes. All of the ingredients weren't bad. The sausage was a bit lacking in flavor as was the cheese. But, overall, for what I paid, it wasn't bad. The crust was a thin crust and it was just okay. Not the best pizza that I have had. But, not the worst pizza that I have had. read more

Decent pizza pies that are done in practically no time. I've never had the urge to visit Blaze Pizza as it seems like a chain that is way too trendy for my tastes. But how could I say "no" to $3.14 pies on Pi Day?! They do have signature pies, but what's the fun in that? I recommend getting a little creative and making your own. I went with a pesto base, mozzarella, goat cheese, grilled chicken, artichokes, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and some fresh basil. The pizza was pretty good as the crust had a nice balance of crispy/chewy, the flavors were great, and it wasn't super greasy. As much as I want to dislike this place, I cannot bring myself to do so. My first time at Blaze was not too long ago. While waiting in line, I was so quiet in fear my excitement would escape and cause me embarrassment. But eff that. I couldn't contain it. The possibilities and combinations are endless! How can you not be excited when you are the creator of your own pizza fate? And even if you don't build your own, you can opt for the preset or simple pie designs. I hear those are good, too. Personally, I love thin crust pizza. The pizzas here are oven baked for "180 seconds", and comes out crispy, like a flat bread. I like that, but if you're one for thick/deep crust pizza, you may be a bit disappointed. Among all the toppings, my favorites, besides the usuals, are: Banana peppers******** Garlic Bacón Ovalini mozzarella******** Ricotta And at the end, you have the choice of a pesto, ranch or BBQ sauce drizzle. So sauce that baby up! I liked my first experience so much, I went again the next week for lunch. I went a bit conservative this time, but I like to think my creations are worthy. I'd even consider myself a pizzartist. They have Parmesan and hot chili flakes for your dining pleasure. And if you have leftovers, to- go boxes come in full and half sizes! That's hella green. I am pretty annoyed right now. I worked late and was picking up a salad on my way home. Veggie Grill and Tender Green were closed so I gave Blaze a shot. I wasn't expecting a great salad from a pizza place but what I realized when I got home was quite a shock. The plastic salad container has a handwritten "Enjoy by" date on the sticker label. It's June 2 today and it had today's date so it was acceptable. When I got home, I realized there is one sticker over another. I peeled it off and the one below had June 1 written on it. That is NOT acceptable. You didn't sell them by yesterday and you didn't toss them? That is wrong. If you want to see if anyone is willing to buy an expired salad, that is okay. But putting a replacement date on it is not right. I feel like I have been lied to. I understand "Enjoy by" is not exactly the same as "Expire on" but same idea. It was an antipasto salad so it was covered by peppers, artichokes, etc. with the lettuce underneath. The edges of the lettuce were brown, some parts were dried, and the darker greens are old... obviously not good for consumption. I tossed most of the salad. I will post a picture of the "sticker-scam" and the lettuce. This wasn't an accident or oversight; someone intentionally did this to make a few more dollars. Not a happy customer. Another fantastic Blaze location! The lines were super long here but moved quickly, they have a great staff. Tons of both veggie and meat options, i went with a pesto based veggie topped as well as a large salad and both were fresh and prepared perfectly. The guys had meat pizzas and enjoyed them as well. After going to pieology I wasn't sure what to expect from Blaze, it seemed exactly the same...but it wasn't. Don't get me wrong - it was good, and I'd probably come back if I wanted a custom pizza place closer than the spectrum. PARKING: It's in the UTC plaza on the same side of lee's sandwiches and close to the bridge that takes you to UCI. ATMOSPHERE: Pretty ample space inside to sit down in and theres space outside too on a nice day. FOOD: I did the build your own pizza, came out to $8.08 which is a good deal considering unlimited toppings. My one gripe (or two) was that they didn't have the herb butter sauce that pieology has. They only had marinara, spicy red sauce or white sauce. I like to do half and half, one with red sauce one with the herb butter but this time I had to get the white sauce. The toppings etc. are pretty much the same, maybe slightly less to choose from? But they cook it FAST, my boyfriend was saying how the crust is much thinner than pieology so that's probably why it gets cooked so quickly. I like pieology crust better though, it has more of a chewy crunch than just, crunch. And for some reason the pizza at pieology seemed more substantial (and bigger) and tastier. First time trying their pizza, here is why they only get three stars. Came around lunch time, while there is not a long line like in Cha For Tea, it still takes pretty long time to place my order. The dough is a little too thin so after it was baked, it easily got burned around the edge. One mistake i realized is that they put fresh toppings on the pizza before baking, i think it is so not right, because some ingredients such as herbs and fruits could be wilted and burned easily at high heat, they should have sprinkle those later after the pizza is baked to help it retain its freshness. Got the pizza for almost $8 and for the same price i could get a bigger one at pierology and generous toppings. Taste was nothing special, their meatballs were good though but overall the pizza seem like it was on the same level with cheap pizza place like Domino's. read more

I like creating your own pizzas. I like the fact they're popping up everywhere. I like choices. I'm a simple man. I just want lots of everything on my pizza. I love thin-crust! However when ordering with a large group, no one can come to a consensus about toppings and multiple large pizzas are ordered. There's leftover pizza for days. It's not a bad thing, but personalized pizzas are worth the cost. Only thing with this location is it's across the street from campus, so it's full of college students. Just makes you seem old. Nam and I came for free pizza day, but we arrived too late and they were out of dough. Sad face. But! They kept their word and handed out vouchers for free pizzas instead. Yay! We went to redeem our pizzas on a Saturday night and the place was considerably busy! We got the Green Stripe and the BBQ Chkn pizza. The pizzas came out in a flash. The Green Stripe was so good - grilled chicken, red peppers, mozzarella and arugula with pesto sauce drizzle! I asked for extra pesto sauce and had green oil dripping down my hands as I chomped away. Mmm. The BBQ Chkn was great too, but a bit pedestrian compared to the Green Stripe. I loved the pepperoncinis on it though. Per everyone's suggestion, we also got the Blood Orange Lemonade - I wish it were a little heavier on the blood orange flavor, but it definitely had a unique tang. Think Chipotle style pizza. Pieology is much better than this place. And maybe I've been spoiled because I was blown away by 800 degrees in LA too, but I felt like this place was more about the quantity than quality. I ordered half white top and half bbq chicken. I asked for chicken on all of the pizza but didn't get it. The bbq sauce was drizzled all messy on one side and my pizza didn't really look appetizing when I got it. I ended up only eating half of it because I got sick of it by the third slice. Although it came out very quickly, I'm not sure if it was cooked well enough as the dough was still a little too soft on the first bite. I like my crusts a little crispier. They also serve beer here which is kinda cool. I wish they had Chalula sauce too. That would make things a lot tastier. It's pretty affordable for students and families but I don't think I'll be coming back here anytime soon as I feel like the quality is not that great. Around $8 for 1 personal pizza. A little cheaper than pieology. Their service was good! Way better than pieology. The cashier was nice and very helpful. I got the red vine and my bf got the link in. Both were delicious because we added extra toppings to it. But my chicken was a bit salty. And the basil was really bitter and not a good combination with the oil. But the cheese and garlic combo was mouth watering. But I wouldnt get it again. The combination of some of the toppings didn't go well with each other. The link in was good if you're a meat lover. My bf added pepperoni to it, so it was a good addition. The marinara sauce is perfect for the combo, perfect amount of sauce. Would get this again! Lastly, we got the smores cookie. It was bomb!!! the marshmellow was perfectly melted and it was paired with a creamy chocolate melt. And when you bite into the cookie, its soft and fuffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. I work nearby so I go to Blaze often. I've had several different pizza varieties and all are pretty damn good. The pizzas aren't the "best damn pizza ever" good, but for a pizza joint in Irvine that sells hearty personal pizzas for less than $10 they're more than splendid. So why is this a 4 star review instead of a 5 star review? 1. Business hours are weak! Blaze used to be open until 1a.m. Then started closing at midnight; now Blaze closes at 11 p.m. which is pretty weak given that it is across the street from a major university and right next a 24 hour fitness. 2. Lack of consistency - sometimes the kid behind the counter kinda goes off in his or her own world and just throws the pizza together. Sometimes they barely throw on any cheese. There's a few kids that work here though that make great pizzas. Random tip - they offer a gluten free crust if that's your thing. Good amount of seating. Lunch and dinner rush can get a bit hectic. I've been waiting to try this place ever since I saw it being built. As I expected, it's just like Pieology, which is to say you order your pizza like you would a sandwich at Subway or a burrito at Chipotle--totally customized. But, I like Blaze more than Pieology, it just tastes better and the crust is crispier. The crust is really thin, crispy, airy and light. It's really good and provides a nice base of support for the toppings. I really like how inexpensive it is, too. I paid only $7 for a pizza with mozzarella, pepperoni, red onion and mushrooms. You can get one of their pre-designed pizzas or a fully customizable one for a flat fee. For the service, I could tell the employees were still getting the hang of it, but that's totally fine since I went on the opening day. Also, atmosphere and design were really nice. Clean and modern, with the orange giving some life to the place. I definitely recommend Blaze Pizza, they have done a great job making a delicious and inexpensive pizza option for UC Irvine students. Affordable, quick and easy place for pizza. You can build your own or pick one off the menu with unlimited toppings for one set price. I got the meat eater and green stripe, but I also added some more toppings on top. After they prepare your pizza, you can watch it as they cook it in the open oven. The taste definitely exceeded my expectations. All the ingredients were very fresh!! I just wished the crust was a little more crispy towards the middle, because it was pretty soft. For dessert, I got the smores. I love smores, cause what's not to love? Melted chocolate with ooey marshmallow, sandwiched between graham crackers equals deliciousness! You can easily say that I am obsessed with Blaze Pizza. At Blaze you have the choice of completely customizing your own pizza OR choosing one of their popular combinations. I personally really love getting their "Green Stripe" combination and I add sea salt, bacon, and extra arugula to that pizza. What I really appreciate about Blaze is that they do not charge for extra toppings. You can pile a pizza high and it would still be the same price! That's great in my book because I think it's pretty ridiculous when people charge (and overcharge) for extras at any restaurant in general. Green Stripe: BOMB. This pizza converted me to be an arugula fan. The perfect amount of crunch in the crust with a great balance of vegetables and meat. BBQ Chicken: Delicious especially if you're a BBQ chicken lover in general! The BBQ sauce that they add at the end is so so SO good. I eat this without the banana peppers because I can't take anything spicy in general. Blood orange lemonade: You MUST try this. A lot of my friends and I stop by Blaze just for this beauty. I mix mine with a little Sprite for carbonation What sets Blaze apart from the rest is how fresh and healthy their ingredients are. This is automatically popular in this day in age especially in SoCal! If you're going to this particular location next to UCI, watch out because there is almost always a line that extends to the door. Yes that's quite confusing just reading it. Basically you either have the option of choosing 2 meats and 1 cheese or vice versa. I chose 1 meat and 2 cheeses! I felt fatty today. They highly recommend not getting a heapful of toppings cuz the pizza is thin. Who cares. Eat like a champ. My pizza had Perlini mozzarella, mozzarella, chicken, garlic, mushrooms, onions, pesto, and basil. It was pretty bland. So I put a lot of oregano and a bit of tabasco sauce for taste. They put the pesto after the pizza is baked! Also, their pesto tastes like Costco's! But I enjoyed it overall! Quite busy but it is Saturday night. And this place is across the street from UCI. Lots of foot traffic. That being said, they are very efficient and quick. It's an assembly line like at Subway. You pick a preselected pizza or customize your own, which is what I did. My ingredients..... Spicy marinara, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, jalapenos, and black olives. Okay Blaze, I must admit, y'all are pretty awesome. A build your own pizza with unlimited amounts of toppings for only $8.59 including tax?! That's pretty incredible. I love their thin crust pizzas and the texture literally melts in my mouth. The only problem I had was the crust was a little too burnt. My roommate also had a build your own pizza here and his crust was really burnt as well. However, the toppings were all amazing and my stomach was definitely satisfied. Parking can get pretty hectic at UTC so expect the parking lot to be full with cars. The interior design is pretty simple and clean. The inside is very spacious, but it can get pretty crowded and lines are super long (pretty obvious why lines are always long). It can get loud and the music is pretty loud so if you're not a huge fan of noisy restaurants, you should take it to go. I've had Blaze Pizza a few times in the past and I always had a great experience going in and out. After trying pizza here, no other place taste good. Love it! I love customizing anything, especially food! So when I walked in and realized that I got to customize my pizza, I was more than excited. When it comes down to pizza, I never know how to order because there's the Meat Lovers pizza that has the Italian Sausages that I love and then there's the Hawaiian that has the Pineapples that I cannot have pizza without - and the things that sucks is that all the huge Pizza Chains are always so pricey with low quality pizzas! So yes, Blaze Pizza was perfect! My boyfriend and I each customized our own pizza, and then were bragging to each other about how GOOOOOOOD our pizzas were (and we both have completely opposite tastes - he usually goes for the whole meat shabang while I cover my pizza with every vegetable topping there is) --- but satisfyingly enough, we both loved one another's pizzas as well. I'm not a fan of crust either (always giving my crusts to a crust lover) so the thin flatbread-like dough was perfect. Here's my general breakdown for the review I'm giving them. 1 reason = 1 star ... +1 star : They realized that Pieology was becoming a scary competitor and definitely stepped up their game. The first time I came here in 2012, the crust tasted like saltine crackers and the toppings were VERY limited. But now they have The build your own option and the crust is MUCH better . +1 star : They lowered the prices to match competitors. This seems like a silly reason but when the food was only decent and the price was more than Pieology for much less toppings , I was willing to make the trip to Spectrum to get a better DIY pizza . But now that they've matched the toppings, upped the crust quality AND evened the price, I think it deserves some credit. +1 star : Ultra convenient. Right across from UCI so it's a perfect place for between class lunch or a quick bite after a study session or even a great place to get food during finals or something when you need a food/study break. +1 star : GREAT portions. I can easily eat half, be satisfied and have another half for the next meal. This is super great for me because I'm on a budget but also going back to the fact that they've started to offer unlimited toppings, more protein means it's more filling and more worth it ! Added Bonus : They offer arugula at the end and pesto as toppings :) these aren't reason enough for an additional star BUT it's nice to have something fresh and green to top off your pizza or pesto for some added flavor The only reason I wouldn't give a 5 star rating is because there ARE better places for the same food and of the same price .
