Food: This was one of my favorite spots to go to for lunch or to cater from during college! Mendocino's sandwiches are amazing, especially their Not So Fried Chicken, Vegan Banh Mi, and Happy Hippie! I've heard the Peruvian Steak, Prosciutto, and Chicken are good too! My only feedback with the Happy Hippie is that there is slightly too much filling, so it falls when you are eating the sandwich. Each of their sandwiches comes with two halves and is filling and satisfying. They also use fresh, vibrant vegetables, and a store associate told me their bread is baked fresh every day! Service: The service here is half the reason I come! A lovely store associate will guide you when ordering, and they will bring the food right to you! When they bring the food, there are two napkins on the tray. If they see you carrying your tray after you are finished eating, they will also offer to take it for you! Although the sandwich prices are slightly premium, you are paying for their healthy ingredients and exceptional service! Ambiance: This restaurant is spacious with many tables on the inside and outside! Their bathrooms are also really clean and well kept! Tough call... This is my favorite Mendocino Farms location out of at least five I have been to around Orange County. The problem with this sandwich chain is one and only: They have a huge issue with quality consistency. Ask their managers and they will tell you that the portions and sandwiche ingredients are strictly measured, but as a customer you know that's not the case. You go to some places and get these tiny sandwiches with two slices of bread and barely any ingredients in between. The Tustin location, located in Whole Foods has been the worst offender at this by far. Now this Campus Drive location has been creating the best, most generous, consistent sandwiches. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen every time still. It all depends on who you get as you cook on that day, crafting your sandwich. Some day sandwiches that get to the table are juicy and enjoyable, and sometimes, they come out to be disappointedly small, with minimum amount of ingredients. I had to complain to the manager a couple of times, but it doesn't help. Every time I come here, I pray to get the right chef who will make my sandwich well. Great spot in Irvine, I feel they're perfectly placed at UTC next to the campus so students can get quick and healthy food options. Favorites are the chicken farro soup (yum, seriously crave during cold nights) and the chicken parm sandwich - the fastest I've ever eaten a sandwich. Delicious and I love that they have the extra side of tomato sauce. It's always clean inside, the staff is nice, and the ordering system is convenient. I just feel like there are options missing from the menu...simple things like French fries? Caesar salad? Simpler sandwiches? Always a fun place to visit for lunch. This location gets pretty busy given all the students on campus. Great selection of sandwiches, soups, sides and chips. The space is fun to be in for lunch, quite vibrant. I often use Mendocino for my lunch and learn presentations by ordering catering in advance. A lot of times I don't order till last minute the day before, but they are always accommodating and make it happen for me to pick up on time the next day. The sandwiches are top-notch and high-quality. Everybody always loves their sandwiches when I take them. Will be coming back always. Nothing is better than the half-sandwich combo at Mendocino Farms! My colleagues and I stopped by for lunch on a Wednesday, and it was surprisingly busy. There were students studying and other individuals grabbing a bite before heading back to work. Both the indoor and outdoor seating areas were nearly full, but luckily, we found a spot at one of the high-top tables with stools. The restaurant has open seating, but they conveniently provide QR codes to scan so they can deliver your food to the correct table. Despite the crowd, our food was ready in just 10 minutes. I got the Farm Club and a side of Thai Sweet Potato Soup. I think this is the best combo, especially on a chilly, overcast day. The Farm Club is super fresh, with the pickled red onions providing the perfect compliment to the salty bacon. Switching back and forth between the Thai Sweet Potato Soup and the sandwich creates one of the best flavor pairings. Mendocino Farms is reliable reasonably-priced sandwich/salad option...most of the time. My faves are the Chicken Parm and the November to Remember, turkey sandwich they have at Thanksgiving. They also do a decent Chinese Chicken salad and my husband is addicted to their Impossible Taco salad. I've never had a problem until my last visit when I ordered Turkey Avo Salsa Verde without the jalapeno salsa aioli and the pickled peppers for pick up for my daughter. They forgot to leave off the jalapeno salsa aioli so the sandwich was too spicy for her. I tried emailing a complaint via their website but never heard back. Sigh. The staff on the other hand, even better. Went here on a rainy day for a work lunch! I've only ever gotten it to-go, so it was a new experience for me. In the front is a large menu, but there is also a mini menu when you are about to order. I liked that when we got to our table, all we had to do was scan the QR code and input our receipt number so they knew where to deliver to! Our food came out pretty quickly, in probably 15 minutes for a group of 7! It was quite a treat of a sandwich and felt like a clean eat.
