I tried the Blaze Pizza in Newport this past weekend and I was already craving it again today. We drove from HB to Newport to see it was closed early at 3:30 for an event! Not willing to pass up my craving I googled the closest one and in Irvine I ended up! This place does not compare to the Newport location- they got 5 stars from me. First their crust was made half assed. Mine had a few tears in it as did my husbands. When we got to the veggie part the kid doing the toppings was so interested in the music he had on in his earphones on one ear he couldn't hear me. He asked me "what" and "huh" a few times after he looked at me like an idiot. Then, as we waited for our pizzas, the guy there to serve up the pizza was so deliciously picking his face. Yum! Exactly what I want in my pizza! Luckily, he stepped away when ours were up, but instead this total rude woman was there instead. She threw the pizzas up on the counter. When I asked for olive oil and arugula she gave major attitude. She so graciously piled a hunk of arugula right in the middle and man was that some old, wilted arugula. The taste isn't nearly as good as the Newport location. The pizzas were almost watery. Just not as good. I'll be back, but not to that location. I prefer my pizza without any face picking, bodily fluid on it- not that I'd probably be able to see it within all the toppings! read more

What a find!! This blows Pieology out of the water. My first visit yesterday was better than I expected. There were about ten people in the queue ahead of me but it moved quickly. The guy behind the counter asked if it was my first visit and when I told him it was he made sure I knew that I could have as many toppings as I wanted all included in their very reasonable price. The guys baking the pizze were funny and über friendly. My pizza tasted dope and it was way more than I could eat so I had two more meals at home. I can't wait to go back to make another creation. UPDATE FROM APRIL 10. I brought my daughter and grandkids and their dog for lunch on a beautiful sunny day. The queue was even longer and it went lickety split fast. My grandsons had so much fun building their own pizze and my daughter went wild with all the delicious toppings. Each one of our pizze were delicious. We ordered three and thought we would have leftovers. NOT. My daughter went back to get another pizza to go. What was really nice that the owner Greg came out to talk to us and give our dog some turkey meatballs. It was a busy time of day and he spent quite a while talking to us which made us feel special. I don't know how this place has not been shut down by the health inspector. They're fast at making the orders and so far, they have not screwed up what I've ordered online, but the reason why I feel compelled to give a one star review is because of how unsanitary it is! Every time I've gone, I've been greeted by someone who touches the register with their dirty gloves and then goes to touch more food or boxes. The boxes that are in the online order section are always full of debris. The counters are always disgusting and the trash cans regularly overflowing. This is the case even when it is slow. Set up regular cleaning schedules. Change your gloves. Wash your hands. I'm not a whackadoo germaphobe or someone who is terrified of COVID. I'm just a normal person who got grossed out (yet again!) when I grabbed my pizza box off the online order rack and it was legit disgusting. You can do better! Would gladly change my review if management reaches out and shows some initiative to improve this situation. read more

Blaze is a lot like Pieology, but in my opinion Blaze is better. The people making your pizza were really nice and helpful. This Blaze is one of few places the were actually opened later which worked out perfectly for my girlfriend and I. They have great options to choose from and they have something for anybody ranging from vegans to full on carnivores! The crust is not thick like most pizza but I'm a fan of thin crust so it was perfect. Fast service and great pizza! Would definitely go here again! read more

I really like Blaze Pizza because its the only place where I eat pizza!! I like their pizza because its thin and thats why I enjoy it more. I like to make my own pizza. White sauce, chicken some veggies and banana pepper is a must, however everytime I go, it might be my luck they are out of banana bread. So I have to go to Albertans get banana pepper to put on my pizza and eat it. At times, they also run of the white sauce which is what I don't like because I don't like the red sauce. I crave blaze pizza like once a week. When I come I get a build your own. They let you pick a sauce and I always do half spicy sauce and half classic white, that way it's like I'm eat 2 types of pizzas. I get mozzarella and all my favorite meats. This location is a TOTAL DISGRACE. Blaze is one of my favorite & go-to pizza spots. HOWEVER, this is the WORST Blaze ever. I had my boyfriend pick up an online order tonight. They forgot to add my pesto drizzle AND bake it well done when it was specified on the order. How do you not pay attention to those details specified so simply & clearly on the order? Why offer the special instructions option if their employees don't even know how to read or cook?? ALSO, they left the order description receipt under the pizza. ALSO, why would I want to eat pizza contaminated with fresh hot printer ink?? I understand that the partial reason is due to the fact that the employees are mostly college students. But who are they to be blamed when management are the ones who are not taking initiative to enforce the quality of their pizzas, service and restaurant. Man, I don't normally go to Blaze, but it's really delicious. I went on March 14th when they had their $3.50 per pizza in celebration of Pi day and it was quite easily the best pizza I've had in a while. The location at the University Town Center makes it very convenient for UCI students. The options for the make-your-own pizza are numerous and, like any customizable food joint, what you get is up to you! at 9 pm on a Thursday night me and my roommate went to Blaze for dinner. It was absurdly busy. Service was fine and fast. One man, I believe his name was Joshua, was absolutely killing it. Joshua turned into Usain Bolt. He was running through this Blaze Pizza, locking doors, delivering orders, taking every single pizza out the oven in record breaking time. The way he cut my pizza, wow. My experience today was unacceptable. I used to LOVE Blaze! My son's favorite still, maybe only until dinner tonight. Usually the pizza is good, or decent. Lately my orders are wrong 50% of the time or they are correct but very burnt. I don't get off work until 6 pm, so grabbing Blaze on my way home and ordering from their app has been very helpful, but I'm extremely disappointed at this point. The last 3 times I've done this, the pizza has been burnt or incorrect, consistently. This location seems to be very hit or miss when it comes to quality. The line is always long, the area where they make the pizza is messy a lot of the time. These factors can be overlooked if the pizza comes out great, but it doesn't. I'm disappointed, and that's putting it nicely. Tonight I ordered two pizzas, a one topping for my son and a build your own for myself with a side salad. When I got there, they didn't know where my salad was, so they asked for one to be made. A few seconds later another employee asked if I needed anything, I told him I was just waiting on my salad but the other employee was taking care of it. He looked at her and said "it's right here! Next time just ask me." It seemed a bit rude to me to be honest. Anyway, I got to the car and looked at the pizzas. Mine was perfect, but my son's... had almost NO cheese! I've ordered plenty of one topping pizzas here before and they've always had adequate cheese. My question is HOW did this get past all the different employees that make the pizza on the line, into the oven, then taken out and put in a box. Atmosphere: Located in the UTC plaza. Sometimes, lines can go out the door and inside becomes pretty tight. When it's not packed, there's enough room for everyone. Customer service: Majority college student workers. They give pretty good service and are always accepting of your requests. Food: Honestly, never thought that I would like some toppings here on a pizza, but boy was I wrong. I've tried different types of their pizza's here and they were delicious. If you're hesitant, try it out. You won't regret it. One pizza can also feed 2 people (if you're in the sharing mood that is). Overall: Really enjoy this place! read more

3.5 stars I like Pieology better but this place is pretty good. Same concept, same price, slightly better cheese options than Pieology but the meat toppings at Pieology are a better quality. Been here twice and had 3 different pizzas including the meat eater and margarita. I'd say the big problem for me is the crust. I don't know. I go back and forth with Pieology, who I think has the better one, but neither crust is impressive. They both could use a better dough with more flavor instead of what they do you use. Again, edge to pieology because you can dress it up with the garlic oil spread on the dough. Can't beat the price and speed though. First, I didn't have high expectations on FREE PIZZA Day. I mean usually restaurant skimp on toppings, etc. but this was NOT the case at Blaze Pizza yesterday. We waited 2 hours before we finally got into the door and I was SO surprised that they still piled on the toppings for each free pizza they were giving out. AMAZING. The pizza was DELICIOUS! When I initially came here, I was super disappointed with their customer service. So disappointed that I wrote an angry Yelp review about it. Nothing upsets me more than not getting my food in a proper time and manner when I am starving. However, I did take into consideration that the times I had bad experiences with their customer service was a time when they just had their grand opening. So, I am mindful that their workers were probably just getting used to everything. Almost a year later, I decided to give this place another chance... mainly because my organization was having a fundraiser here. I was quite pleased with how much their customer service improved and how yummy their food is. It does seem like they raised their prices since the last time I came here. This isn't a place I will consistently come back to because of their price. But food is good and I'll probably come back to satisfy some cravings :P read more

I'm not even sure if I should write a review about this because I'm afraid he will get bombarded with people requesting him to make their pizza for them. Me: Ahem, Huh Nah would like tomatoes on her pizza please. As I received my pizza, I hear something from the kitchen from Scott. "Huh Nah! Enjoy your pizzz!" For the record, my name is pronounced HANNA like Hannah Montana so having someone put a twist on my name unexpectedly was pretty funny. Very creative if you ask me! Yes. Blaze is the new brain child from the same folks that created Chipotle and it's the same type of concept, build-your-own meal, but this time it's pizza instead of burritos. So let me break it down for you, these guys have done it AGAIN!!!!!!!! For a mere $6.85 you get a CPK size pizza with your choice of 3 meats & cheeses and ALL the veggies you can handle. Even with my enormous appetite I could only take down 3 of the 4 large slices. Such an amazing value!! Better get on board the Blaze train because it's going places. Hmm I thought I have written a review for this before...guess not. Well this place is basically like Chiptole but with pizza! First time I tried the Green Striped pizza - mozzarella cheese, chopped garlic and chicken drizzle with a pesto sauce at the end and topped with fresh arugula - needless to say - but I'll say it anyways - Delicious! And then another time I tried the White top - ricotta, mozzarella, chopped garlic, bacon, arugula and oregano - doesn't have a sauce....but they forgot to put the bacon on it- still pretty good though. The service is nice. The prices are a little high - $7.25 for just the pizza - for a drink add another 1 dollar something. So about 9 bucks for the meal - which is fairly expensive for us college kids. when you get the gluten-free crust it's like 3 dollars more too...so yeah pricey! I've only been here a few times....just when I'm craving for a crispy thin crust gourmet pizza. Busy on Sundays. Josh has stellar customer service. It was most unfortunate that when I wanted to tip them I found no tip jar. Are all Blaze stores this way? I can't imagine building and firing pizza after pizza for 8 hours with the intense and constant heat of the ovens for only 12$ an hour. It's a simple change that will make a great difference in the lives of workers that really deserve it!! I'm putting two stars because management should really fix this problem. Fast-fired pizza! For about $7, you can create your own pizza or get one of their pre-built combos. The pizza is delicious -- crisp thin crust, light, not too greasy. I also recommend getting a drink to go with it because their blood orange lemonade is so, so good. Everyone was so confused about what was vegan including the shift manager, and then it was about how to make a Hawaiian, and then kept asking if i wanted vegan! Tom was the best! He came and straightened things out, then when the girl made it, she barely put any cheese. ..i asked why, and tom offered to remake it. He was the only one that explained how it works, and wasn't dismissive. I offered to tip him directly but he said he can't take tips. The gf crust is the best I've had...but the girl said only 3-4 toppings was best on any pizza, and she was sooo skimping like 4 mushroom slices so be prepared to ask for extra every thing. read more

My kids and I, freshly on our new gluten free and dairy free diet, decided to give Blaze a try. The staff was aware of allergies and asked if they wanted us for them to change their gloves. Bonus points! We order the gluten free crust and make your own pizzas. For my kids we had the red sauce and goat cheese topped with pepperoni, green peppers, olives and bacon. Build-you-own or pre-set toppings on thin crust! I tried this place yesterday with a friend, and we were very well pleased with the taste of the food, service, and the ambiance. Indoor and outdoor seatings are both very well designed. I think this will be one of the better places to eat at University Town Center (UTC). The pizza size is decent/perfect for an individual, and it's under $7. We tried Green Stripes and strongly recommend it! read more

The pizza is great and I've been several times, but I came in the other day at 9:30pm and they wouldn't let me eat in the restaurant because they said they were closing early. By the time I got home with my pizza it was soggy and cold. Very disappointed. Updated: I really like the food at Blaze and only had problems with the customer service on one occasion (that's why I originally gave them a 2 star rating). I received an email today from the owner of Blaze Pizza who apologized and made amends. I appreciate business owners who take that extra step to make sure and follow up with their customers who have had less than stellar experiences. Thank you Blaze and great job! Been coming for years and simply it's just the best priced pizza in town hands down. Today I was worried about the time it would take to get my pizza and surprisingly it wasn't that bad because of the new manager Abel. I was just getting a pizza like I usually do and noticed he was going out of his way to help every station in the pizza making process flow evenly. It amazed me that he was the manager because he was taking the pizza out of the oven which iv never seen a manager at this store do. It's refreshing to see that they have a new manager who cares about the customer and the wait time. It was very noticeable that he was running around trying to help everyone and making the wait time shorter. Keep up the hard work Abel it doesn't go unnoticed. As I have celiac I know that lots of eating out places are risky, however The last couple times I've come to this location, after the pizza is cooked either it doesn't get communicated or the person cutting the pizza doesn't read the order sheet; they don't change thier gloves or use the allergy utensils. Resulting in me having to have the pizza remade. Huge waste of time when on lunch break and it already talked a while to have it made once. Edit: they messed it up twice in the same visit, again using the wrong utensils to cut the pizza. read more
