Customer service was terrible. I don't know why this employee treated me so rudely regarding building my pizza throwing very small portions of toppings on my pizza and when I asked for extra, She has the audacity to say "I'm not overloading your pizza". So I stayed calm then paid for the pizza but when I said you really need to lose the attitude, she yells at me saying "do you want a refund" so I said no I just want my pizza to be built the way I ask. But she just storms off looking very proud of herself for making me very upset. Before leaving I was told that's the closing manager... so in shock I thought it's a shame to have a manager like that, when she is supposed to be a positive and professional leader for the employees who under rank her. Be careful if you order takeout on the app. If you're not careful, early in the process you will automatically be charged a 15% tip, even if you're going to just pick up. You can remove the tip or change it, but it's not very obvious how it can be done. As for the pizza itself: I asked for the regular sauce, but they made it with the spicy kind. It was too spicy for my tastes, and I like spicy things! It is thin crust pizza so you might need more slices than normal to fill your belly. I love that they offer Gorgonzola cheese and got that. Unfortunately, the spicy sauce overwhelmed it. Overall, pizza tasted OK but nothing to write home about -- just standard chain restaurant pizza. My husband wanted to try out Blaze Pizza for the first time, and it was conveniently located in the same plaza as a must stop for us when we are in Kalamazoo (Odyssey Games). Before ordering we both needed to use the toilet and we found that the single person bathrooms were clean, though while waiting to my husband to get done an employee was waiting to use the men's bathroom. I imagine having single person bathrooms can create a line but probably makes the bathroom quicker to clean. Inside was nice enough I kept my jacket off. With it finally warming up outside needing a jacket isn't a daily thing unless I'm worried it'll be cold where I'm going, but Blaze Pizza was a comfortable temp. We had never been to Blaze Pizza so the employee helping us explained everything really well. She compared the create your own pizza was similar to Subway where you decide each thing along the way. You start with crust, go down the line to choose sauce, cheeses, meats, and veggies. My husband and I both did an 11 inch choose your own pizza. My husband also got cheesy bread as a side. My husband wanted to go over to Odyssey Games while the pizza cooked and we were told it would only take three minutes to cook, so I stayed to wait for our food. It did take only a few minutes, and we were on our way. The employees were super helpful throughout the whole process. My husband tried his cheese bread first and said his was delicious. I tasted my pizza (original crust, red sauce, shredded mozzarella, goat cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, onion, spinach and oregano) was absolutely fantastic. Not the best pizza I'd ever had, but good enough to make me come back for more. The atmosphere of this place was nice as well. They have a large mural on the wall, you can watch them as they create your pizza while ordering and watch while it cooks as well. Don't forget to grab some red chili flakes and parmesan cheese! Our food was great however their Covid safety protocols not so much. I wanted to leave as soon as we walked in and they did not enforce masks required. There were two men in line that were not wearing masks there were 3 workers with masks below their noses and one worker had his pulled all the way down! It was packed when we came and it was faster to download the app, register and order online while we were waiting in line. We got our food before people in line before us. Other then one employee, the staff were all friendly and the restaurant was full of happy people. The only critique is the speed. The food is good if prepared the way you'd like and not questioned up and down by the red headed manager who started with belittling her young male employee in front of the restaurant. Blaze is new to town, having only been here for a few months. It seems a little gimmicky at first glance but to be honest; the pizza here is very indeed. For under $10, you can hop through the line and have a pizza made up with as few or as many toppings as you would like and have it baked up at lightning speed...almost literally. The staff are plentiful and that's probably a good thing because they are pretty busy. I don't typically think of pizza, fast food and quick in the same realm, but I can honestly say that if they keep this place as clean as it was, the smiling faces of the staff sharp, and the quality of the food up, they will make a lasting impression on the Kalamazoo area. read more

5015 W. Main St. Kalamazoo - My wife and I plus our daughter and her family each got our own pizzas at Blaze on 1-13-23 at around 4 PM. Total: 6 pizzas. I was first down the line and since I'm mostly vegetarian and picky as hell I chose a lot of different items from their extensive offerings. The young lady behind the counter was very patient. The rest of our group came down the line and each ordered what they wanted. There were no hold-ups, complaints, or crossed signals reported by anyone, including the kids. This restaurant has an efficient, relaxed staff, particularly around the huge oven, and they seemed to like what they do. I paid up including a well-deserved tip and we were on our way. Lovely pizza, and I have had pizza from Bologna to Napoli. Yes the fire is gas, and not wood. The process assembly line, but the result is just good pizza! The drinks are yummy, love the Hibiscus tea never would have ordered it, but sampled it and it is one of my favs now. But the blood orange lemonade is my favorite! Love the pizza BUT I suggest not to come in 1-2 hours before close. The stare downs you get from employees are almost as good as the pizza. You can tell employees are annoyed..maybe because everyone's everywhere with no assigned station area? The pizza when done right blows away any pizza place I've been to that has a large variety of toppings for a reasonable price. Mod pizza is trash compared to here. Bummer. I'm a big blaze fan in California. Today was to be my first time at this location and my first introduction of my elderly parents to the Blaze experience. First of all, I pulled off the road to order, on my way home. We arrived early and found the line really long. The pizzas were 15 minutes late. No big deal. Hey they were slammed. I get them home to discover that first, I screwed up my parent's order and there's no mozzarella on their pizza. Crap! My bad. Next to find my pizza, which is correct, is badly burnt. Now, the first 1/3 of this is beyond blaze's control: my misordering the cheese. I accept that. The next 1/3 of being later than their suggested time is marginally understandable. But sending out a burnt pizza, that's a little over the top. Bummer is, I as the customer -- who's raved to the old folks about Blaze -- had to apologize for the crappy experience. I am a huge fan of Blaze. I live on the west coast and visit Blaze at a minimum twice a month. I was excited to visit my son in Battle Creek so one night I offered to treat them to Blaze in the Zoo. It was a 20 mile drive but I was certain it would be worth it. My pizza was great, but the pizza my son got was burnt. On the west coast if it's over cooked or burnt they acknowledge it and offer to make me a new one. Not on this trip. They called my son's name and left the pizza on the counter for him to grab. He brought it to the table and it was black on the edges and underneath. He was hungry so he ate it, but laughed that it was burnt. I did talk to Blaze on twitter and they did give me a couple free pizza passes but I wanted to do this review so perhaps management at this location can address it with staff. read more

I got a "white top", creamy white sauce, mozzarella, bacon, garlic, and I added black olives. Very yummy. My spouse got a gluten free pie with ham and pineapple, and they even offered to change gloves for gluten free prep (he has sensibility, not Celiac, so it wasn't necessary but very appreciated!) Don't skip the fountain drinks. They have fancy juice type drinks they call aguas frescas, and 3 kinds of cane soda in addition to regular sodas. We tried the coconut agua fresca, passionfruit agua fresca, and blood orange lemonade. So good! Looks like they have online ordering as well if you're in a major hurry. This location has had an ongoing issue with employees and cleanliness. It seems that although there are a lot of employees standing around, there's no real system and customers wait too long for someone to finally walk over and put on a pair of gloves to start their order. It almost seems as if the customers are intruding on someone's personal time or someone's personal kitchen. The food itself is fine and once it's in the oven doesn't take very long, but the environment makes you want to get your order "to go" and just leave. While we were there, we noticed many employees on their phones and there was a table in the main dining room that was full of personal items, like Doritos, books, water bottles etc. Employees were constantly going over and hovering around this table and sitting and chatting. That type of break table or whatever it was, should be in a back room or eliminated all together. I've got to throw the BLAZE a fiver. I hadn't heard of or ever seen a Blaze "Fast-Fire'd" Pizza restaurant before but the orange sign grabbed my attention from the street and beckoned me in to take a closer look. Inside the door I could see the line forming (a good sign) to order up a "build your own pie" almost like you would at a Subway. Blaze's selection of toppings was fabulous...your choice of three sauces, four cheeses, a host of meaty selections and a sea of vegetables. I thought "very cool" and all for only $6.95 each - including as many toppings as you would want! I tested them with a special request for double sauce and the gal preparing my pizza gladly accommodated my request. I chose the mozzarella, a little goat cheese and a dash of parmesan from the cheese department. Sliding down the counter, I added pepperoni, sautéed onions, fresh red onions, a good dose of 'shrooms, cherry tomatoes and a hit of pineapple to add just that right amount of sweetness! I was amazed at the time in the oven...literally it seemed like 3 or 4 minutes! You gotta love the cook slipping the pies into the oven with long wooden-handled utensils...just like they used to do in the old coal-fired brick ovens. As I ate my delicious pizza in the comfortable if spartan dining area, the line kept forming. Blaze literally was making pizzas as fast as they could make them the entire time I was dining there. The line to order never subsided. At a very attractive price, a great product in comfortable surroundings, Blaze Pizza is a hit in K-Zoo. A little more online research revealed 3 others in Michigan including Novi and Royal Oak. Highly recommended. read more

This industrial-chic casual dining restaurant is hoppin'! Don't let the line fool you, they're super fast workers. Their employee assembly line seems to have great synergy as they take you through all of the steps for your DIY pizza. Honestly, the slowest thing about this place is the customers! You'll find an array of choices behind the counter included sauce types, cheeses, veggies, fruit, herbs and spices...The only standard item appears to be the thin crust dough every pizza is made with. "All these options? Sounds like a headache, just make me a pizza." No problem! Blaze has several determined pizzas you can order if you'd like. The only thing I see as a problem at places like these; i.e. mongolian bbq; where you create your own food is that you can easily ruin your own meal by over-doing it with the ingredients. Decided to try this place for the first time and the older woman behind the counter was very rude. I asked for a sample taste of the pesto sauce since I have never been there and she basically threw the cup of pesto sauce at me and it splattered all over the front of my very expensive winter coat. She was not at all helpful in helping me remove the pesto from my coat acting like it was a hassle for her since she had more customers in line not caring about the one she just threw food at knowing the ingredient is olive oil and it stained the front of my coat with large oil marks. She didn't even help me clean up her mess AND she ruined my coat. I probably should send them they dry cleaning bill for cleaning her slop off my coat. Then she was rude to me and told me there wasn't anything she could do about the stain. My husband and I decided that was not a place we wanted to dine and spend our money and we then left. We will never go back and I will warn others about how badly I was treated as well. read more
