I stopped by Maestro's Pizza over the weekend to give the place another shot. I went in hopeful, or at least mildly optimistic, that maybe something would feel different. Spoiler: it didn't. At this point, it's almost impressive how consistent the energy is like a character who shows up every episode with the exact same line delivery. Coming into the lobby on what should have been a busy Saturday evening, I found maybe 5 tables of patrons and a semi-busy bar area, which was a bit odd. I decided to give it a shot anyway and got a table. The beer I ordered was delivered in a huge mug and nice and cold. The menu was pretty cool and I chose a sandwich that I may not have typically ordered. I was less than impressed with the quality and it looked at if thr kitchen just tossed everything together without any care as to presentation. The flavor was decent but not great and I even said something to the waitress about the lack of bacon...a single stingy strip on the sandwich. This has become our go-to pizza spot in the area. The pizza itself is very solid, and consistent, which is a problem around town, a lot of places can be hit or miss any given day. We do a lot of takeout here but I love coming in and sitting at the bar, great staff that always takes care of you. Also a lot of regulars which makes for a cool vibe, plus they have live music sometimes. read more

This was referred to us by a friend and they specifically suggested the smoked wings. We ordered pickup on a Friday evening for the first time. We had no idea it was also a bar. As soon as I walked in I was able to recognize a few familiar faces. Most people around knew the owners. There was a line of people on hallway to the restrooms which was the pickup-order-line. The wait was ridiculous. But I dayum sure will be coming back for more!!! Also, there are plenty parking spots for you in the semi-plaza. The bar is relatively small and crowded. Be prepared to shoulder bang as you walk-in to sit/pickup. Servers were good but the service was okay... Soooooo good I didn't have a chance to take a picture! We were at our friends pool all day hanging out and needed dinner the 4 of us decided we were too tired to go out for dinner so we decided to pick up a salad and Pizza from Maestro. Best decision of the summer! They have the best sauce! The wait was about 45 mins but it was definitely worth it. They have a full bar so when our husbands went to pick up our food they could've grabbed a beer if our pizza was not ready...however it was ready so no beers for the boys until they got home! Had a Supremo Pizza and Maestro bread last night. It has been a while since I have ordered from here and hopefully these were just a couple of bad ones. The food just wasn't as good as it used to be. Had to wait an hour to pick up my online order. Both seemed to be a bit overbaked, the crust was hard. The Maestro bread was more like a sheet of cardboard with cheese. The ingredients on top of the pizza were great but the crust under was soggy and outer crust was hard. Not the best I have had from here. read more

Maestro's is a locally owned pizza parlor/bar. I've had their pizza several times and have been pleased. As a kid, I made pizzas part-time for 3 years during high school at a Mom and pop pizza place. So, I know pizza, and I'm quite the connoisseur, if I say so myself. The pizza at Maestro's is good. They sport a pie with a good amount of cheese and the perfect balanced amount of sauce. They offer a good array of toppings. The crust is tasty and my pie was properly cooked. (Which is very important). A couple things I would suggest. I ordered a cheese and sausage pizza. The sausage was on the sparse side. I definitely could have used more. The sauce could have used a bit more seasoning in my humble opinion. Overall, I was happy with the pie I received other than the two criticisms I had. Try them for lunch or dinner sometime. You won't be disappointed. read more

The pizza has a slightly strong garlic flavor that I'm not a real big fan of, and I like garlic when it's done right, but the flavor to me was kind of strange. Busy Thursday evening, I ordered over an hour before and told them what time we should arrive to pick it up. I walked in and a server asked if I was picking up. I said yes and was outside within two minutes with my pizzas. We ordered a Hawaiian and Barbecue Chicken pizzas. And they were delicious and filling. I ate three pieces and was full. I have had good experiences here in the past. We ordered pizza tonight at 6:15. They said it would be an hour. We arrived at 7:15. I waited a few minutes in the parking lot to make sure it would be ready. When we walked in to pick up the pizza they said it was going to be over 30 minutes before it was ready. It was a half hour drive to get here. This is very very disappointing. We obviously cancel the order, wasted an hour driving, and now do not have dinner. We have gone to Maestro's for their sandwiches in particular (pizza is overpriced). I saw the negative reviews after the new owners took over, and was scared to see if they changed the sandwiches. Not only did they increase the price of the sandwiches by $2 I believe, but they also cut the size of the sandwich in half...it's half the size they used to be and not filled as much. Incredibly disappointing especially since they raised their price for half the sandwich. The pizza is already overpriced so we won't be back. read more

When our sandwiches were ready, Matt (the owner) erupted from the back with our orders while singing the praises of his made-from-scratch sandwiches.The meatballs, sausage, sauces, and breads are all made in house. When the bartender noticed my wife trying to figure out how to cut her large sandwich in half with a butter knife, he called on Matt who immediately came around with a more appropriate knife to slice our sandwiches in half for us. Matt then invited us to come back and make a pizza with him in the kitchen the next time we visit.This place has an incredibly friendly staff, and the food lived up to the owner's hype. We are totally going back to try the pizza. I wish that every restaurant owner were as a passionate about their product as Matt! Order through Grub Hub as I'd seen lots of posts about it in FB. I've been wanting to try a pickle pizza and this one sounded delish. While it was good, for me, the pickles were a bit much. Not the fault of Maestro's though-but my own palate. I thought as a pickle lover I'd be all about it. We also ordered wings with garlic sauce and it was THE BOMB! I travel several times a month. When I am on the road, I try to find good local pizza. Rather than ordering from a chain, I choose to support local business while finding some hidden gems. This is one of those gems in the Midwest. you can tell the crust is homemade by its consistency, and there was not a hit of greasiness to it. The sauce, the sauce with some of the best I've ever had. Sweet but not too sweet, garlicky but not too garlicky. Then there was the cheese, which stretched and pulled after each bite. The pizza was wonderful. One of the things that really separated this place from many others was the owner. The older greeted every customer what came in the door, personally thanked every customer as they walked out the door, and was amazingly friendly and sociable. This is the kind of place that you can tell gets consistent repeat customers because of both the food and the friendliness. If you were in the area, I highly recommend the pizza from here. read more

We were from out of town and used Yelp to lead us here and we were not disappointed. Service was great and the food was exceptional. I usually order pizza with family but got the Italian Sandwich, it was huge and explosion of flavor on my tastebuds. Grandkids and the wife were pleased with their pizza. The big three-- sauce, cheese and crust were spot on. We were also very pleased to meet the owner on our way out. And could tell that he loves people and loves to make them happy. I have long been a fan of Maestro's since his days in the corner convenience store. My wife and I love the pizza, get pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, extra cheese, and have him keep it in the oven about 8 minutes longer than normal. Cheese starts to brown on top, and crust gets a nice crunch to it. Besides pizza, you must try his Italian sandwich.......big enough to split, or for 2 meals...but delicious enough to eat in one sitting, which I normally do. Recently tried the stuffed mushrooms....very, very good. Almost as good as the ones I make at home. Matt and Dee are wonderful people, recognize me by first name, and appreciate your business. Let me start by saying I really wish I could give half stars because I think 3 stars makes this place seem worse than it really was. I'm a pizza fanatic, but not a pizza snob, so as long as there's cheese and quality ingredients I'm happy. I ordered a pizza with their house made sausage...which is the bomb! The only "complaint" I have is that it seemed to lack salt (even with green olives on it), but it wasn't anything easily correctable (enter...salt shaker) and I'm kind of a salt addict. The toppings went right to the edge of the pizza (which I love) and the crust was delicious also. There cheese was good, but in addition to my salt addiction, I have a cheese addiction so I thought there should have been more. I'll try "extra cheese" next time. Now for the bad part. I ordered wings. I ordered the "half pound" and we got 5 wings that were really average size like you would find at Buffalo Wild Wings. It was kind of laughable! Now I would normally order spicy wings but I was accommodating others who don't like spicy food so I went with Parmesan garlic. They were basically inedible...and I'll eat anything! They boasted in the menu about "baked, not fried" which is how I make my wings, but you'll see from my picture that they didn't "bake" them nearly long enough. There was essentially no char on them so you're left with soft, spongy chicken skin! Again I eat anything so that alone wouldn't have bothered me, but in addition to that there was ZERO flavor. I literally could not taste garlic...or parmesan (and again...mucho salt needed). I put some hot sauce on them to try to help but to no avail. I hate to say this but I threw 3.5 of the 5 wings in the trash! I'm my opinion they should either seriously retool their wing recipe or just take them off the menu. In summary...I will be back for pizza. I will also warn all my friends to stay VERY far from their chicken wings! read more
