The cheese was a little runny and taste more like box Mac n cheese rather than homemade. Hubby had the chicken sandwich, and that was ok. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp, but was pretty lemony. The guy that took our order is an idiot. Some tall Hispanic young guy. Anyhoot, I asked for number 1, he asked how hot I said hot and I asked for a side of fries. Then my husband asked for the grilled chicken sandwich. He asked how hot? He replied with hot as well. He asked my husband if wanted to make it a meal. My team at work has been chomping at the bit to hit up Blazing Bird since it opened. Today was the day. We got there at 11:15 and things were beginning to pick up, but the line was still inside the building--not so about 20 minutes later. Ordering was easy in part because they provide little copies of the menu for people stuck in the long line. This definitely enhances efficiency and keeps the line moving. At the counter and afterward, staff were as polite as I could hope. I was a little skeptical about three chicken tenders a la carte for $13, but added fries and a drink ("Make it a meal for $5") and we sat down. Food came quickly, considering how busy they were. My reservations about the tenders vanished when I saw how big they were. While it wasn't love at first bite, the tenders were delicious, providing huge, juicy mouthfuls of chicken with a crust that fit "medium" to a "T." Fries were cooked well and there were plenty. If you like fried pickles, make sure to try these--thin, crispy chips, not watery or greasy. I would deduct a star if they served spears.... My staff enjoyed the Mac and cheese and slaw as well. I had no idea what to expect when I entered with three co-workers. I like spicy so we gave it a whirl since it's new in the area and hot chicken sandwiches are all the rage. One of us ordered a mild chicken sandwich and she loved it! The three of us that like spicy food were surprised that it is as spicy as it is, so beware! I order Indian food hot and love it! But the hot spice level was mouth numbing and not flavorful. One of us ordered the extra hot and it took him a while to get his taste back. The spice is a dry spice they shake on top. I carry habanero hot salt when I travel (I'm on a seven week business trip for work) so I could have made a fried chicken sandwich a spicy fried chicken sandwich myself. I didn't grow up with fried chicken so it's not my favorite and they didn't offer any grilled chicken. I didn't think the food was worth the price. They should have a screen with orders that are ready instead of yelling the order number towards the entrance of the store when people are seated in the the back to eat in, or utilize a stand up number to deliver it to you like smash burger. I felt it was chaos inside-but maybe it's because it has been open less than a week. I ordered online and had a friend pickup the food as I was 2 minutes up the street at the hospital. The food was not edible and the fries looked hard & cold. Needless to say I'll be patronizing this restaurant again. I called the store right away but I was only able to leave a message so I discarded the food so it wouldn't stink up the hospital room. The owner finally returned the message yesterday which was 1-2 days later letting me know they don't provide refunds unless you bring the food back! That information would've been helpful on the exact day I called to let them know the food wasn't edible but no one answered the phone or returned the call in a few days. I used to frequent this location when I was craving spicy chicken, it was my favorite place to eat at however customers service has gone down. The new Hispanic cashier has no customer service and his attitude can be confused with rudeness. I used to be a waitress and cashier with a similar set up (as this restaurant) so I know this worker doesn't want to be there or interact with customers. Or loaded macs. A fried egg on the hot chicken sandwich. Hot tender soft tacos. A quesadilla. Even a hot Nashville Caesar salad. So it's nice to have some different ways to eat the tenders if you want variety or something a little different. Also it's hotter than some of the other places. We got everything extra hot.
