We went with friends to one of their favorite restaurants in the area. We were lucky to get a a table for four on the Saturday sometime late in the evening after 9:30pm. The bistro was bustling with full tables. The place has a great vibe and is comfortable and very pleasantly decorated. It reminded us of some of the places we frequented when we lived in Paris. The owner is French as was our waitress, Angelika. We shared two orders of Escargots which were excellent. Salads were served between the courses as a palette cleanser. And then on to two Boeuf Bourguignons for the ladies. My friend had a medium-rare Filet de Boeuf and I had a Canard a l'Orange (one of my favorite dishes) also medium-rare. Each of the dishes was exceptional. For drinks we had sparkling water and a decent house Pinot Noir. My friend took a nonalcoholic wine and a beer. We ended up with an excellent Lemon Cream and I had to have an espresso. The meal was expensive ($332 to which I added a $70 tip) but it was all well worth it. We were visiting from the Boston area, and if we lived in the vicinity we would undoubtedly be regular patrons. I seldom give a restaurant five stars but this one deserves it. I will recommend highly the place. It was one of the best French meals and restaurants at which we have dined in the States. read more

We had a really lovely bday dinner here. Great services with upscale bistro vibes. Definitely check for reservations as space is limited. We chose the prix fix menu & added some bone marrow I was dying to try it. Everything was simply marvelous. French beer & wine, his favorite was the Chti Amber. a delightful butter and some fresh bread... bone marrow was yummy - needed more bread :) this version with some flambé mushrooms was so good !!! ... Onion soup, escargot, petit salad, Steak frites, trout almandine, crème brûlée, sparkling wine ... I even ate the haricot vert! the only problem was I ran out of space in my tummy lol. Next time we will make an earlier reservation but I had to see that sunset. Merci, we can't wait to return. read more

We looked forward to our first visit since Ian to what in the past was always excellent however, it was a mixed dining experience. Service was very good, my wife ordered the halibut which comes with a small salad. The fish was well cooked over a light sauce, the vegetable side was less than meager and the rice appeared as dry minute rice. Disappointing for the price. I ordered the prix fixe beef bourguignon with escargot appetizer. A small salad was included. The escargot was very good, the beef OK but the pieces required a knife and the sauce very very thick. Oh my goodness, what a gem! The ambience is at once inviting and comforting. French cafe music, not too loud, perfect for conversation. Not a TV in sight. Service was extraordinarily professional; our server, Angelika, had intimate, detailed knowledge of the menu...very helpful. Laurence welcomed us like old friends, even though this was our first (but definitely not our last!) visit. Prime rib and Veau Marengo for entrees, both just perfect; the food was genuinely French and served with a flair. If you've been to Paris, you know what a real baguette is like. That's what we got here. Easy to find a wine to our taste. A splendid evening was created for us at this beautiful restaurant. Six stars! By far best restaurant I have ever been to on Sanibel. I have eaten in French restaurants that were considered the best in Paris and I am amazed to see that right here on my island is French food that rivals any of the restaurants that I have known and loved in Europe. Their Beouf Bourguignon is so good that I found myself eating there 3 nights this week - with French music from the 30s you feel like you have time traveled to a Beautiful easier time in the world- And the owners; Lauren who greets you and Pierre, her husband who is a remarkable Chef, are beyond charming ( and they are really French!) I don't know that I will ever be able to try anything else on the menu because I'm so in love with this dish and Pierre changes it a little bit every night like a true chef. They are a young family with three children and the pride and the care with which they tend to every detail of the meal even the homemade bread, makes you feel like you got the break you deserve when you go out to dine. Their escargot is incredible and so are their desserts I got the four course meal my first night and he even though the date I was on was terrible, the food was so good I was floating out of the restaurant by the time i finished my crepe and ice cream with home made fresh dark chocolate sauce. I'm afraid to admit I'm going back again tonight. With all that so many of us have lost on Sanibel, to have found this little gem right here is like treasure for me. read more

I took my wife here for our wedding anniversary dinner. The decor is well done. The staff is attentive and Chef Pierre even came around and introduced himself to all the dining guests before the dinner service hit full swing. It was a pleasant surprise to us. My wife and I wanted to try everything but we began with the appetizers. My wife ordered the Foie Gras and I ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms and the Escargot. The Stuffed Mushrooms were very flavorful. The Escargot was good but standard fare as it was prepared like most places poached in butter with a nice crusty bread for dipping. The Foie Gras was wonderful. I would absolutely order it again. Prior to the main course in addition wonderful crusty bread we each received a salad with their unique house dressing. It was sublty flavorful and did a great job of cleansing the palate. They also had a nice selection of wines to go with dinner if you want to indulge. For the Main course my wife had the Trout Almondine which she rather enjoyed. The meal came with a large flavorful skin on Trout fillet with potatoes and haricot verts. Nicely prepared. I had the Halibut. The fillet was a bit small. But it was well seasoned and expertly prepared it came with rice. The meal for the two of us was a little pricey but if you want the best there is a price to be paid and we did order quite a selection. This was a special occasion dinner for us that we find time to experience several times a year. All in all it was overall a wonderful dining experience. I would absolutely recommend this fine dining establishment to anyone interested in experiencing French Cuisine at its absolute best. Chef Pierre and his wonderful staff make this a dining adventure one to remember. Make sure to make a reservation and this place fills up fast. read more
