I love this place, a little bit of art heaven. Everyone has one thing in common with me- love of art.

Okay, I'm not the artistic type although I can use a number 2 pencil to draw a pretty decent stick man. Yet somehow I've found myself at this art store three times in the past year, each time with a different artist friend. This is definitely a place to shop for the true creative person and not the casual hobbyist who would be more comfortable at the local Michael's. Each of my artist friends love this place. There are many aisles of paints, brushes, canvases, easels, colored pencils, sketchbooks, and so much more. There is a shelf of clearance items at the back of the store too. The staff here are knowledgable and helpful. Multiple times I've witnessed them being asked questions for which they've given concise and informative answers. For example, they won't just give an answer as to which brand of oil paint might be best but will quiz you on what you'll be painting on, what type of brush, etc. in order to recommend the best product for you and why. In short, the staff here impress me. If you are not exactly the artist type and find yourself here with a friend who is doing a deep dive into the large array of offerings, you'll enjoy looking through the many novelty items near the register area. Some unique and fun stuff!

I originally came in for the derwent ínstense blocks but they weren't in stock, the young staff member with the pink hair was very sweet to check inventory for me. Eventually we settled on the 30 set of neocolor aquarelle crayons. Not only were these probably the best alternative but they're JUST as vibrant as the inktense blocks. My goal was to be able to use these with colored pencils and I CAN !!!! I also got a set of some inexpensive watercolors for $16 and I got 24 tubes. All in all great day in deed. Also I got a massive discount today. Probably saved $30 in total. Genuinely I am impatient when it comes to shipping supplies but their website has a better selection of supplies. I do still find myself resorting to Amazon for quick shipping. Hopefully they'll have more selection stock in store :) I don't wanna give Amazon my $$$$

I stopped by here to find a paint pen . The ones they have were not right for what I was looking for. I did end up buying a marker . The store is setup so it's easy to find what your looking for. The store did have a good supply of art supplies. The cashier was friendly and my visit was during the pandemic. The measures that they are taking made me feel comfortable that they were doing good job keeping the customer and there employees safe

More Than Just A Frame…read more Went to Hobby Lobby looking for a picture frame for a short poem that means a great deal to me. I quickly became puzzled over the frame color, size, and whether to use a mat or not. Thankfully, Kim came to the rescue. She was patient, thoughtful, and walked through several options with me without ever making me feel rushed. With her wonderful eye and expertise, we found a frame that fit perfectly, and adding the mat made the poem look so dimensional and lovely. It truly brought the piece to life. I also didn't realize they do custom framing, and that really fills a gap left when our local art store was lost during Covid. It is comforting to know there is still a place where people genuinely care about helping you create something meaningful and beautiful. Thank you, Kim, for making what felt overwhelming into such a warm and lovely experience.

It's the same as any other arts and crafts store, you gotta be at LEAST 2 months early to get the best pick of the batch. Though on the other hand, you can get the super clearance items later on in the holiday season. I liked that there's lots of cute prints for their fabrics and different textures, seeing that most Walmarts don't have this anymore and Joann's is completely decimated. I think my main issues are all of the AI SLOP art that's being sold to those who cannot tell the difference and the fact that there was shoplifting randomly during our visit. Sucks, but yeah, it's mostly the AI slop that sickens me. I couldn't find anything that I needed during my visit, but my friend got some cupcake liners since the ones she ordered online were mini even though the website said nothing about the sizing, so she assumed they were regular sized. They, of course, had no Valentine's Day ones leftover, so she found cute bow ones. For on sale and clearance items, it works!

Since Party City closed, the local Michael's is marketing heavily on party balloons. The Michael's have a wide variety of art, craft, yarn and part supplies, which makes it easy to find what I need in one trip. The store is usually organized, and items are mostly on in stock. I like coming here for holidays decoration, as well. The staff is generally nice when I've asked questions, especially when looking for specific materials. Prices can be a little high at times, but the coupons and sales make a big difference. Recently, the store offers self checkout which is nice when you're coming in for a couple items. Overall, Michaels is a convenient and dependable for simple decorations on holidays to bring cheers to the office or classroom settings.

I went to the store to return it and was told by the manager that the item was "on clearance" and could not be returned. I explained that the item was defective and, under California law, must therefore be returnable. She was unmoved by this, so I simply gave up. I have to wonder whether the manager is ok with the idea that the store gets my money and I get nothing of value. Does this really sound like a sensible store policy? It kind of sounds like stealing to me.

To Whom It May Concern,…read more I would like to make a formal complaint regarding my curbside pickup experience at the Michaels store located on Katella Avenue in Orange, California. On Friday, June 19, at approximately 1:45 PM, I arrived to pick up a curbside order that had been marked as fulfilled earlier in the week. My confirmation and reminder emails indicated that four items were included in my order. However, when my order was brought out to my vehicle, I received only three of the four items. I attempted to contact the store by phone three separate times but was unable to reach anyone. Eventually, I called the Framing Department and spoke with Marianne. I explained that my curbside order was incomplete and that I had been unable to reach anyone for assistance. Marianne was very kind, came out promptly, and genuinely tried to help resolve the situation. She took one of my items back inside to investigate the issue and attempt to complete the order. Shortly afterward, Jesse came out to my vehicle and informed me that the store did not have enough inventory to fulfill the missing item. I explained that I had never received any email notification, cancellation notice, or refund indicating that part of my order could not be fulfilled. In fact, I had received reminder emails instructing me to pick up my order, and those emails continued to show all four items as fulfilled. Unfortunately, Jesse's response was rude, dismissive, and argumentative. Rather than acknowledging the confusion or apologizing for the inconvenience, Jesse continued to argue the point and took no accountability for the situation. As our conversation ended, she walked away shaking her head, clearly frustrated with me. I found this behavior unprofessional and disappointing. It was evident that either a system error occurred or the order was not properly updated to notify me that one of the items was unavailable. Regardless of the cause, customers should be informed when an order cannot be fully fulfilled, especially when the order status and pickup reminders indicate otherwise. As someone who had worked in restaurant and customer service industries for more than seven years and has operated a business for the last ten years, I understand the challenges that come with staffing shortages and high-pressure situations. However, those circumstances do not excuse discourteous treatment of customers. While I understand the store may have been short-staffed, there is no reason for an employee to speak to a customer in such an unkind and confrontational manner. I live in Anaheim and specifically traveled to this location because it had the items I needed. I chose curbside pickup because I had a sleeping baby in the car. Had that not been the case, I would have gone inside to address the issue directly. I am truly disappointed by the level of customer service I experienced at this Michaels location. I hope Michaels will review this incident and provide additional coaching and training regarding customer interactions, particularly during stressful situations when employees may be feeling overwhelmed. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
