In a single purchase, they had all these problems/errors: (1) Blick will give you their web price when it's cheaper, but you have to remember each time, and if you forget to ask, nobody alerts you, even though their system obviously knows when the web price is cheaper. (2) The cashier didn't know how to do an exchange, so instead had to do a return of a product then a new sale of the same product, which resulted in me paying more for the same item, because it was no longer on sale. (3) The cashier didn't ring up brushes separately and instead just scanned the same brush over and over, charging me for the most expensive item multiple times. read more

This place is every artist's home away from home. I'm sure there are more beautiful art stores in further cities/states and distant countries, but this store does it for me in this region. Seriously, this place has everything. They offer a wide variety of art supplies for every art form aside from the most familiar art forms. There are a few aisles specifically designated towards each art. There was an entire aisle allocated for pencils and they were offering a great bargain. From my personal observation, they offer the largest selection of paint supplies, which was exactly why I visited this store and there was a spectacular deal on brushes (note: they do not carry all brands). I could easily spend a few hours in there, it was beautiful. The only downfall was the prices because I noticed that some commerce websites offer better deals on certain products (while other products are cheaper here than anywhere else). It just depends on what you're searching for to purchase but other than that, this place was a dream. However, they do offer a rewards system, student discount off regular priced items, and an online price match which could potentially diminish the price off certain products. To top it off, the staff was absolutely wonderful! I love that each employee knows exactly how to help each customer, and if they don't they are more than willing to communicate with a coworker. I recommend visiting this place if you're starting off with a new art form because the employees will definitely be able to assist you with any and all questions. I LOVE THIS STORE! I'm in here practically every week. I would spend thousands if I could! Staff is knowledgable if you are new to art or a specific medium. They have samples of what stuff looks like, always well stocked and the clearance sections are always fun! I will say however that the blue "Utrecht" or I guess now "blick" student quality brushes are cheap .. But also cheap. Take care of them and they last but if you neglect them they are pretty hard to revive. It's like a wonderland for the creative mind!!! :) read more

I been coming to this place since before it was blicks. It was another art store back in 2012 but that's how long I been coming here. Even now that I'm living in South of Los Angeles, I still choose to drive to this location. The staff has always been nice and very helpful when I have any question or even recommending products. I been to other stores where they would literally follow me around and make me feel uncomfortable. This place is totally different. So much different products to choose and the prices are awesome. My goodness! I've never seen a foam poster board of such size and majesty. Blick's greatest quality is that it's a proper art store. It's one of the few brick and mortar stores that stocks lead for gravity pencils. It's neither cheap nor inexpensive, but if you want quality, you gotta pay. Girthy gravity lead besides, they've got a great collection of pencils, and that's a fine thing. read more

Blick is a really well stocked art supply store. The staff is always friendly and they know their stuff. Took some brushes that I had in search of replacements and I found what I needed quickly and then some. I picked up a few canvases, some sketching pencils and a new sketch pad. Just checked out Utrecht this afternoon. The store is well stocked with art supplies and they have TONS of paper. The layout is very clean and tidy which made things easy to find. Also, the workers told us all about Utretcht's private label of art supplies that is the same quality of the fancier brands but at lower prices. I have to say that I am a bigger fan of Art Supply Warehouse because they carry more products. But, Utrecht is definitely closer to my house. It's great to not have to drive all the way out to HB when I need some more white paint. read more

Came to this store to purchase some Montana Gold spray cans and was helped by a lovely, young lady with black hair. She was really nice and offered help numerous times around the store, never too pushy or bothersome while I took my time rummaging through everything. While I will say that I couldn't find all the colors I intended to purchase at this location, and did end up driving a little further to the Blick in Pasadena that had a much larger selection. But parking in downtown Pasadena is stressful! The prices in the store were higher than what was posted on their website, but given the nature of the spray cans being aerosol, I was advised that the end cost to purchase online and ship via ground would be more. Thus, being my first time in the store the nice sales associate helped me out and found an applicable 15% coupon. I got a few paint markers from this store mostly the krink ones and a few uni posca markers. Most of the markers were fine but i got some of the krink k-42's that must have dried up or something because getting a smooth flow of paint out of them was impossible. I tried to return the defective ones (the other ones worked great, awesome markers) and the employee tested them out and stated that i couldnt exchange them because she thought they worked fine and they had been used. They had to press down on the nib for more paint with every line drawn and even then the lines were streaky. Ended up just throwing them away because blick wouldnt take them and nothing i tried would fix them. Terrible read more

I love the attention and guidance available from the staff when the customer is in need of it. Natalie, Sarah and Crystal were amazing and helped me find specific items I needed, and also helped me set up my student discount at the store. They were very patient and kind with me, despite the fact that the store was supposed to be closing. I was also looking for a popular type of paper that happened to be sold out that day, but they checked on the next available shipment for me right away. I was working with a tight deadline and they even helped me to direct me to other stores that might carry the product to help me out. Always a super helpful staff! This is a bit smaller store footprint than the Pasadena location, but very well stocked. We come here once a month or so and always stock up. I've been to the Blick in Pasadena but the difference between this one and that one over there is how much more friendly and helpful the employees here were. Right when I walked through the door, I was already asked if I needed help finding anything and they knew exactly where to take me. Not only that but while browsing in another aisle, another employee was attentive and asked if I needed help looking for anything. The store was very organized, well-kept, and I saw a variety of art supplies--easels, drawing boards, huge folders to hold prints, spiral bound and hardcover sketchbooks, watercolor and drawing pads, pens, markers, color pencils, paint, mixing trays, brushes, canvases, pencil pouches, and even container boxes to hold your supplies. read more

I love these stores compared to Michael's and Aaron Brothers. But the unfortunate thing is that there's not a lot of them around, I just happened to be in the area so I stopped by this one. There's none near where I'm at so I rarely go by these; maybe once or twice a year. Either way I love these stores because they have such a big selection for everything; drawing, painting, whatever. And during winter a lot of their stuff is also on sale. They have even more items on their website (like the Faber castell polychromos because no American stores sell those!). The other day, I bought a sketchbook from this store that I was really excited about, only to open it an hour later to watch all the pages fall to the floor. I assumed that I just got a defective sketchbook, so I decided to get another one the next day. Thinking it was worth a shot I asked the staff if it was possible to return and exchange the previous sketchbook I bought since all the pages fell out of the binding, and they said it was fine to exchange free of charge! This place is my absolute go-to for anything I need as an artist. I have yet to visit an art store that has better service than this one, because the staff is awesome. I've been here a few times to grab some paint markers for my grandpa! I always call ahead to ask if they have the supplies I need and every time I do, the person on the other side always answers all my questions and checks to see if the items are in stock. They usually almost always have the things I need. I go here to get the deco paint markers. All the workers I've encountered on the phone and in person have always been super customer friendly. Literally great customer service and they really know their stuff. I'm not sure of her name but she had blonde short hair and she helped me out when I walked in the other day. She seemed to know her stuff and recommended me the sharper extra fine tip markers and the guy who worked earlier that day that was on the phone was kind enough to leave the items at the register for me because I wanted to be in and out on my 30 mins lunch. I've shopped here for almost five years because it's conveniently located. I've had fun participating in their afternoon product demos. I've bought a lot of paint, brushes, sketch books - even an easel and an opaque projector this past year. After my encounter with a very cold employee this morning, I'm done with Blicks. I don't like my mood to paint being wrecked by snobby service as I run out to grab a handful of paint tubes. If it hadn't been for the positive experience at different types of businesses shortly after Blick's I would've wondered what I did wrong; was I looking crazy, etc. If it hadn't been for the negative experience at Blick's I wouldn't have googled other sources and found one in my rush to find paint today that was much, much better. . . and they spent a very long time by my side answering questions about brands I'd never used. I had the same issue as Katie G. The website prices don't match their store prices. Their reasoning is that the difference is the "potential" shipping charge that I would have incurred. However, let's say I buy paint in store at $8, the online price might be $6. So if I wanted to buy in bulk I might have incurred $2 per tube if I bought it online?? Of course not. The shipping would have been inclusive. This is bad business policy. Either make them online-only prices or match the web prices like you claim to do. Until then I will shop elsewhere read more

I love this place! They're much cheaper than Michaels. I highly recommend their website or any store. Prisma markers go for $5.99 at Michaels. Blick sells them for about $3.50. If you're buying 5 or more at a time, that adds up! I'm very satisfied with their customer service and their prices. I highly recommend this store! read more
