I used to come here all the time when I was at Wayne State! Stopped in for lunch and it is still a great place to come!! Great food, friendly service and always great to see the owner, Nick!

Best sub spot on campus! Owners are so sweet and make it a point to get to know and connect with the customers. Feels like a second home! Have been coming here since freshman year! Never taken a person who didn't end up loving it!

Blimpie!! Been coming here for nearly 20-years! Proud WSU Alum and this place really hits close to home as I used to go here all of the time as a student and now a grad. Nick S is the Man! Real at home, down to earth service. Real WSU ambiance and pride! The food is nostalgic for me and only wish other sub shops had a tenth of their TLC! Looking forward to coming back and utilize more of the rewards program!

Literally the best sandwich shop I've ever been too. The 2 men who run it have excellent people skills & always greet me when I walk in. I always order the same thing and they've had my order memorized since the 2nd time I ordered it. Business is always booming over there & the line moves really quick. Very efficient. Sandwiches/wraps are phenomenal. Cat approved too

You know it's good when you come back even though you transferred to a school 45 minutes away. Been coming here for years now, especially when I was on campus. The food is great and so is the owner Nick. Never had a complaint in regards to customer service or the food. The veggies are always fresh and the food is always hot. It's just like a subway, except it's not, it's better. I remember when I started as a freshman & everyone was always talking about this place & I had no idea what it was. Boy was I missing out. Now I see, it is apart of the Wayne State Experience. You're not a WSU warrior 'till you've blimpiedd. *the smoothies and cookies are tasty*

If you have ever been to Wayne State University then you SHOULD know about this Gem on campus! If you don't know, now you know so go check this place out and try ANY sub combination and you will love it! More affordable than most places on campus and you can not beat the service and food quality at this place. STRAIGHT CLASSIC!

I can't believe the place is still here after all of these years. There are 2 types of subs here: Italian, and "Other Subs", so you know that this shop sprang from the vibrant Italian community that once populated Detroit. The Italian Subs at Gonella's are ordered according to how many layers it builds up (which I think is a unique concept). These layered Gonella Italian Subs are layered with a variety of Italian meats (Hard Salami, Salami Cotto, Mortadella, Smoked Ham and Capicola), provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions & Gonella's homemade dressing. Soft sub buns, tons of stacks of meat, lettuce and tomato or not. No one goes hungry after a sub here. Some deli spots tend to skimp on the protein, but not this place. My team members favorite is the Italian, 6 stacks. I usually will go for a turkey or chicken stack. They offer up to 18 stacks, haven't tried that yet.

We tried the spicy chicken caesar and the reuben angelo (made it the angelina by swapping turkey for the corned beef). The spicy chicken caesar was very tasty but I loved the angelina. I'm gonna start with the egg rolls, they were by far the best part. Absolutely fantastic flavor and the #75 sauce made it even better. The chicken tenders were good; but the fries were not that great. Maybe piling the tenders on top made them soggy but we ate it within minutes of receiving it. The house ranch made them better. The Atwater chicken has a lot of potential, the garlic cilantro aioli needed some salt or something, you can taste it has good body just lacked punch. So the chicken sandwich was just ok. Service: Amazing, my brother made good recommendations and they were pretty quick about getting the order ready. Always appreciate a kind face that doesn't need to rush you as you ask questions. Ambiance: You can get expensive gas while you wait for your food. I'm sure it's an awesome spot when the weather is warm. It's definitely a spot to come back to. We enjoyed our meal.
