Bar gabi on their closed working days sometimes host a special event and last night was 4 course fixed menu of Italian food specifically Sicilian and Sardinian with wine pairing. The chefs did a great job in introducing all the dishes they had prepared with Sicilian being on the left and sardanian on the right with their respective wine pairing that their sommelier did a great job finding the best wines from those specific regions. The waiters and serving staff were quick on their feet making sure all the guests have the proper silverware for the next course and the tables were being emptied as and when dishes were being finished. We could also by the end of the night buy the wine we felt was the best, they had a couple of them in spare. They were doing this for 2 time slots last night and their reservations were full for both time slots well in advance. Fortunately we made reservations almost a month ago. I will myself now keep an eye out on any specials they run since last night was by far my best experience in terms of food and wine tasting from the 2 Italian islands.

We did the tasting menu, and my wife came up with the perfect description:…read more "This is like Christmas morning, and each present is better than the last one." That pretty much says it all. What a terrific experience. Oysters. Radish salad. Wild boar kebabs. Lamb ravioli. Quail. Cabbage. One course after another had us looking at each other and saying, "I want to lick the plate." Our serving team was led by Rachel, who was outstanding. Everyone who brought a dish to the table was knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely excited about the food. Even in a packed restaurant, they made us feel like we were the most important guests in the room. The décor is fascinating--eclectic, quirky, and full of personality. Nothing seems to match, yet somehow everything works perfectly together. The drinks were spectacular. They even had my favorite beer, Miller Genuine Draft (yes, I'm old school). And the bartender is a Knicks fan, which certainly didn't hurt. One final tip: visit the website and watch the video about the history of Mabel Gray before you go. It's a wonderful story and makes the experience even more meaningful. We'll be talking about this meal for a long time. Highly recommended.

The place is small and you can see the open kitchen pretty well. If i went back id ask for a table in the back so i could watch the kitchen the best. The food overall was spectacular, this must be the best restaurant in detroit. The radish carpaccio and the goat cheese bread were insane, so much flavor in every bite. All of the savory food was spectacular and the quality of the meats and the freshness of the veggies really shined through in every item. The service was top notch, every dish was well explained and my eating area was cleaned and silverware replaced whenever dirty. The speed of service was amazing, i eat quick and they brought my courses quickly while the group next to me was slower and they weren't rushed, clearly adjusted service for both our groups. I have two criticisms: 1. The chocolate cake dessert was lack luster and boring compared the rest of the menu. 2. I left hungry, the tasting menu was one entree or two smaller items short of the right amount of food. These criticisms are small and overall I had a spectacular experience. 4.7

Just enough upscale for date night, but casual enough for Royal Oak. This is not really a traditional Greek restaurant. Its more Greek inspired. Everything seems a bit more higher end. Menu: simple, but diverse enough to please every palate. Service: Well trained wait staff and very friendly. Food: generally excellent. The saganaki is firmer with a bolder flavor than I am accustomed to. 1 portion is satisfying enough for the table to share. Honey is optional; not sure I would add honey again. Fried calamari - huge pieces all properly cooked to be tender. The batter is very crunch and stays crunchy. The cocktail sauce is excellent. Only critique is it was a bit bland, which is weird, because you can see the seasonings in the crust. Meat balls in tzatziki sauce. Deepfried. My wife and daughter loved them, but to me the texture was a bit mealy. Beet salad - my favorite! Served on a goat cheese mousse. A must try. Octopus- really came here for the octopus, but they did not have any. Oh well, next time. Souvlaki- Got 1 beef and 1 chicken. Very authentic char grilled flavor. A bit overcooked but good otherise. 2 glaring items overlooked: They need to add moussaka to the menu and despite a decent wine selection they do not have a wine Greeks are best known for; a dry crisp rose made from greek grapes. Can't really be called a Greek restaurant without a Greek rose.

I'd a small space but decorated super cute, perfect for a date night. I loved the benches with all of the pillows! My party devoured the saganaki - very delicious! They enjoyed the Greek salad and lemon potatoes while I had the lamb and beef gyro with fries. Let me tell you, those fries were absolutely perfect . We each had the Detroit 76 drink with gin and it was refreshing and great if you're a lavender fan. Finished off the evening with the baklava flight and it did not disappoint!

A true example of "don't judge a book by its cover". We walk in, non peak, with eight folks and they have no issues with us. Quickly seated, orders taken, food delivered. Bam bam bam! The staff has always been great to us and now to our friends. The food is off-the-chain delicious. primarily Ukrainian fair, but you can find several other options and there's ALWAYS something for everyone. For the first five years I came here I ordered Christine's Famous Bomb Burrito. It's that good and I wasn't going to dive into the questionable stuff on the menu. Shame on me! Baba's Pierogis and their Potato Pancakes are wonderful but I recommend the Combo Platter so you can also experience the sausage and the sauerkraut (Kapusta). A quick chuckle: Mrs. E. only eats cold borscht. So we order it and it cools on the table and becomes our dessert. Most everyone I introduce to Christine's become regulars and it ain't because of me! 08/25

We entered through the back entrance and were immediately greeted with a warm welcome. We quickly found a table for two, and our server was attentive from the start, bringing water right away, answering our questions, and walking us through the wine and beer selections. My wife ordered the Beet & Salmon Salad, while I chose the Crispy Chicken Club with white cheddar and house-smoked bacon. The sandwich was absolutely incredible--hands down the best crispy chicken club I've ever had. The chicken was perfectly crispy, and the combination of flavors was outstanding. I also stole a few bites of my wife's salad and was pleasantly surprised by the yellow beets. I'd only ever had red beets before, and both varieties were prepared beautifully. The salmon was cooked to perfection and paired wonderfully with the fresh ingredients. Between the excellent food, welcoming atmosphere, and friendly service, this turned out to be one of the best impromptu dinner dates we've had in quite some time. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and are already looking forward to returning to explore more of the menu. Highly Recommend!

I came in and I explained to you your employee was very disrespectful and unprofessional which you are also. As a manager you should hold your employees accountable because the way he spoke to me over the phone was unacceptable and that's simply not how you do business. The avocado wasn't the issue even though that was the third salad I ordered from this location that was made wrong. What prompted me to come back and get a refund was how rude the employee was on the phone. This store lacks customer service, professionalism and quality. I hope this constructive criticism helps you take the necessary steps to improve. I understand you may be upset about the review but that doesn't give you the right fabricate our interaction to make yourself and your store look better. You were happy to offer a refund not an apology. Now I hope you have a nice day. Im a grown woman and I used a curse word to emphasize how rude your employee was, that does not warrant being called hysterical. No one was disrespected, called out their name, and voices were not raised. You're more appalled at the curse word used than your employees behavior and the stores ability to properly make orders. You keep coming on here with rebuttals instead of being accountable. Yes I did use a curse word but that shouldn't have invalidated the issues at hand. Yes there are three sides to every story but everything I've stated are facts. Again I hope you take this feedback as constructive criticism and make the necessary changes to run your store properly. If you were as persistent with my issue as you are about going back and forth online maybe my issue would have been resolved.
