I didn't know they served beer and wine, which was nice to have with your sandwich. I wanted to try the Muffaletta. I brought my own gluten-free bread bun and the other person with me ordered the same sandwich but with the bread; and they truly enjoyed it as well. My only issue with the sandwich is that the Portella mushrooms took away from it, rather than enhancing the flavor. We brought my Italian-Argentinian father-in-law and mother-in-law to Rocco's for lunch today. I ordered Il Rocco, my daughter Hard Proof Prosciutto, my wife and MIL Eggplant Parm and FIL A Love Letter to the Corner Deli. This place is simply amazing! The sandwiches are huge. Fresh bread, freshly cut meats and cheeses and made with pride. It's a true gem. They sell their deli meats and have a nice selection of Italian wines too. You enter and get in line to order. When the order is ready, they call your name and bring it to you in a simple brown bag. There isn't a lot of seating so we get our food and go to a park to eat. I love this place! read more

Every single time I come to Rocco's, I have the absolute best time - it might be because my palette is satisfied, or the vibes feel right, or i can grab a nice bottle or wine and fresh Ricota. Rocco's is the perfect italian deli in Midtown and their counter resembles just that. I've had just about every sandwich and wowza! They are incredibly balanced and filling and every bite has that perfect combination. They make your sandwiches as you order so it might take some time but no longer than a 10 min wait. Today was the day I finally made my return to Rocco's! They crossed my mind and when I checked their site -- I saw turkey was on the menu. Game changer! I love when places expand options like that. Ordering experience? Great. The person who took my order was super friendly, welcoming, and even co-signed my pepperoncini idea (love that!). She really understood the assignment and gave me the vibe that customization is part of what makes Rocco's special. Unfortunately, the experience kinda shifted once my sandwich was being made. The person making the sandwich (who was also chopping lettuce nearby) overheard my order and immediately gave off a vibe -- popping his head up multiple times to glance over, despite there being no line behind me. It was noticeable enough to feel uncomfortable -- like I was being judged for daring to ask for onions and pepperoncinis. (Simple requests, not wild off-menu asks.) From what I could hear, there was a little back-and-forth about how this time they'd honor the modifications but maybe not in the future. Fair enough if that's the policy moving forward -- but in the moment, it felt awkward and unnecessary, especially since the person taking my order was totally fine with it. And sadly, the sandwich reflected that energy. No pepperoncinis (despite them being part of our whole convo). Onions? Nope. The only change accounted for was no bacon. The sandwich itself was good -- it's Rocco's after all -- but the vibe left me wishing I'd asked the cashier if she could just make it since she seemed way more invested in a good customer experience. So here we are, 5 hours later, and I'm still thinking about it -- not because the sandwich was bad, but because the energy from the person making it really shifted this from a 5-star visit to a 3-star one. Giving it 3 stars here (would've been 2 if not for the awesome cashier -- she deserves her flowers!). Hope this feedback helps the team. I tried Rocco's while on the go on a road trip, while passing through Detroit. Wanted something quick and easy and saw the Yelp reviews for Rocco's. I'm always skeptical of highly rated places, but after my visit to Rocco's, I can see why. I was there on a Thursday afternoon, it was quite busy with takeout orders and a few diners inside and outside on their patio. The place itself is cute, they offer a selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, and more. They have a deli section and also have a good selection of wine. But I was here for the sandwich. Was torn between the meatball and the Prosciutto Love sandwich and ultimately went with the Prosciutto. The sandwich had this nice crispy bread, the sandwich had prosciutto, mozzarella, yummy pesto, and seasoned tomatoes. Just to give an idea, the sandwiches are quite filling, at least in my experience. I hadn't eaten all day and had a half of the sandwich and some pasta salad. The pasta salad was not a typical Italian salad that you find most places. This one was more flavorful and creative and I wish I had grabbed another for the road. I ended up only eating half the sandwich, it was really filling and saving the other half for later - which was still good when I ate it later. Incredibly flavorful. Good bread and the pesto was delicious. As for the Italian beef, it was equally good. The beef was cooked to perfection and the flavor on it was great. The sandwich is pure perfection. Each ingredient is fresh, flavorful, and layered with care, so you taste everything in every single bite. The bread? Perfect. Soft enough to bite into easily but sturdy enough to hold everything together. Every time I go, I tell myself I'll try a new sandwich, but I can't bring myself to stray away from my usual sando order. They had a cooler of specialty sodas and drinks. They also had a ton of wines, coffee/tea to order, and a whole menu of other food you could order. Seating was pretty limited so would plan on waiting for a seat or taking to-go during lunch/dinner rushes. Wine rack to the ceiling on one side and the deli bar on the other. This place was recommended by a gentleman over at Red Hook Coffee on Woodward. There were a number of different options from salads, sandwiches and other deli favorites. We chose the chicken parmesan sandwich and the whenever your'e feeling blue pear salad. Both options were super good and fresh ! The chicken parmesan sandwich was lightly breaded and seasoned to perfection and the bun was super soft and bit chewy in a good way. I was in Midtown looking for a quick dinner at a more casual dining location and stumbled upon Rocco's Italian Deli. I looked up the menu and as soon I saw the delicious looking sandwiches, I knew I had made the right choice. It wasn't too busy when I walked in, but after I ordered and sat down waiting for my food, I saw a pretty steady stream of customers ordering takeout. The food didn't take too long to come out and I was able to dig in soon afterwards. Chicken Parm ($14) - This is one hefty sandwich! Huge chicken breast pounded flat laid across what must be a 10 inch long toasted hoagie. The chicken is breaded in a breadcrumb mixture mixed with Italian seasonings. The taste of oregano shines. The chicken itself is quite moist for a white meat. The exterior breading is fried until crisp and kind of separates away from the chicken a bit. Unfortunately it's actually fried a little too hard - the edges of one side of the breading are blackened and burnt. There's a good amount of melted mozzarella piled on top of the chicken. It oozed out while cooking, almost making a cheese skirt along the edges. The bun is thick and fluffy and is the perfect complement to the crisp chicken. It's slathered with a tomatoey, tangy, sweet marinara. There's an additional cup of marinara served on the side to allow you to dip the sandwich to add even more fresh acidity. (4/5) The sandwiches at Rocco's Italian Deli are solid and this place is an easy recommend if you're visiting the area.
