We tried the spicy chicken caesar and the reuben angelo (made it the angelina by swapping turkey for the corned beef). The spicy chicken caesar was very tasty but I loved the angelina. So much flavor and texture in one sandwich. My only minor complaint was that the thousand island dressing needed to be better spread out, but who cares when the sandwich is this good? I would definitely eat both sandwiches again and go back to try the rest of their menu. We ordered online and it was ready when we came to pick it up. The staff was friendly and they have plenty of people working (one at the register and 3 making sandwiches). They have a few tables (the space isn't that large) as well as a single bathroom.

The Italian Subs at Gonella's are ordered according to how many layers it builds up (which I think is a unique concept). They have an extensive menu to include vegetarian options which was nice to see. They also have many local brands to include chips, sodas, and other small local business products (caramelized nuts, baked goods, etc.)! On the topic of local businesses, they also had a board which allowed local owners to post business cards and event alerts, fantastic for drawing the community together. Now, I ordered a Reuben as a lover of corned beef and sauerkraut. It was delicious and sizeable, a fair portion size for the money as well. The chips were also delicious having gone for the salt, pepper, and onion variety. A solid crunch and bursting with flavor. Among the positives I have two negatives, both of which are not adequate enough to lower their star ranking. Firstly, it took around 20-25 minutes to get our food after ordering. I rarely hold timing against a restaurant as having worked in food, I know lunch rush exists and things happen. To mitigate this (for those in the area) I believe they have an online ordering system, which I would recommend utilizing! Secondly, they do not have indoor seating, so it is a very grab and go type establishment. This is counteracted by the multitude of benches around Royal Oak, though it would be nice to have some amount of seating, especially for those with accessibility needs and those waiting on their food. Overall, Oak House Deli is solid and delicious and I will definitely stop by again when I am in the area!

We also got the special spices etc. I do prefer a more of an Italian sandwich on a hard roll, so I'm not sure the soft onion roll is for me. If you like a cold sandwich un-toasted and generally basic with a bit of a twist, you will love this! My husband and I enjoyed the sandwich (split it, and they put mayo on half at my request).
