The food was good, very good tasting, BUT I don't like to be served by someone who smells like they haven't had a bathed in weeks & his service was not on point either!!!! We were there at just around 6 & there may have been one or two other tables in this big restaurant being occupied!! I was so excited to try this place!!! Inside was really nice actually, very clean & classy looking, but the area they have you enter looks terrible on the outside, is at the very small bar & right next to the bathrooms. Looks like there's stuff just thrown around on the outside & DIRTY. I am not quite sure why anybody would have a restaurant as beautiful inside as this one look the way it does on the outside??? I have to add that it was disturbing & very unappetizing to hear their bug zapper inside the. restaurant having insects being zapped while we're eating too & it seemed that their air-conditioning doesn't work or they don't have any and they use swamp coolers in place of an air-conditioner = again, not appetizing and loud. One last thing, there is a grand double door entryway/exit that they don't use! Why?? It is probably one of the best visible features to this restaurant and they don't use it. It's the back of the restaurant!! *Good tip for Karma Lounge = possibly share with your patrons when they come in that your air conditioning is not working, but you have swamp coolers, temporary = sorry for the noise! Came here for dinner. The place is beautifully decorated and the staff is warm and welcoming. They have an extensive menu and lots of vegetarian options. We got samosas and garlic naan to start. For our entrees we got chicken tikka masala and veggie curry. Samosas- Crispy dough with a potato filling that is beautifully spiced. Savory with a good amount of heat. Pairs well with the tamarind sauce. Garlic Naan- Served hot and fresh. Bread is fluffy and buttery with a strong roasted garlic flavor. Perfect for dipping! Chicken Tikka Masala- Chicken is tender and they give a generous amount. The sauce is rich, creamy, and flavorful. Pairs well with rice. It is a good looking place with mediocre quality food at best. Some of the items were decent - Paneer Bhurji and Garlic Naan, and Nimbu pani was excellent. However, rest of the food was below par. The Dal Makhani was way too salty, to the point it was inedible. We told that to our server, and she asked if they can fix it. Brought it back and it was still quite salty, just about tolerable. Chai was too sweet, pakoras were very burnt - looked charred, egg masala was a sweet creamy curry. If one of the things was off, we can understand. It was also quite empty when we got there around 5 / 5:30, so busy kitchen is also not an excuse. Overall, we felt that the kitchen didn't care enough or were just not skilled enough, and we are unlikely to return. I found myself in search of a traditional Indian food restaurant, and per the recommendation of my friends, a place in a little shopping corner buried within Yorba Linda's hills was Karma Lounge. So I figured I'd go give it a try: Upon walking in, you're greeted with this lovely low light ambiance, no bright overhead lights and it feels smooth, relaxed. Definitely the type of feeling I got when I entered, our host and server Guri was very kind in getting me sat down. The menu had a lot of options, it was neatly styled and a few things pointed out to me which I ordered below... The crispy Okra.....AMAZING. It wasn't heavy on oil, came with some 3 very contrasting dipping sauces which each proved itself, a minty one, tangy, and a more savory tasting dip with diced veggies. Definitely an immensely good starter and I'd order it a million times over. The paneer was rich, creamy, had sweet notes to it, and you can order in different spice levels up to 7. I went with a 4, I'll be back to go to a 5 to up the kick, always play it safe first time trying a new place. To flush the food down, the Mango Lassi is an absolute MUST HAVE, with the thick mango flavored yogurt drink, it tastes like heaven in a glass cup. I was super happy with Guri's service, he was attentive, liked to talk to us about the food and was very passionate for the food as well. I'll definitely be back for more! read more

Quaint little Southern Indian restaurant in a strip mall. Interior was clean and welcoming. They offer a weekend buffet or menu. We chose menu, as we like certain dishes and appreciate leftovers. The waitstaff were very nice. They offer different levels of heat on a scale of 1-7. It was a leisurely lunch and they weren't busy, but they offer alcohol & have some unique choices. Unfortunately I don't have pics but we went on a Friday at 7:30pm. Even with a group of 10 we were seated right away. We ordered app plates, malai kofta (spicy and mild), paneer makhani, saag paneer, garlic naan, onion kulcha. It took more than 2 hours for us to get our food. I understand it was a lot - but 2 hours is wild. As someone that gets a lot of Indian food in Chicago, I thought it was alright, but not sure if it was anything more than that. read more

Who is giving these people all these stars and good reviews. Worst Indian food in the OC by far. I'll get to the food later but let's start with when we arrived. We were coming from an event at a temple and were very very hungry. Upon reaching the restaurant we saw that there was a private event going on inside. It was extremely loud so we asked if we could find a quieter spot. The server showed us to a table outside towards the back of the restaurant. There was no setup on tables. Just some tables hurriedly put together. This space was right next to the trash area and the kitchen. People kept running back and forth to take care of the private party so it was not a good experience at all. Service was non existent. 3-4 different people came to the table. One to take the order, another to bring one part of the order, another to bring what was left. Edward was the only person who took some interest in our table. He gave us his complete attention and told us about the restaurant's offerings. Soon the area we were dining in became a preparation area. See pictures. Vegetables started being prepared. Never seen anything like this before. Now to the food:- The papri chat had more garbanzo than anything else, the seekh kababs were red in color with no flavor. Goat meat was stale. Butter chicken extremely sweet, Dal makhni undercooked and not makhni at all. Nans were half way decent but still not up to par. A disgrace to Indian food. Worst part of all was that the private party going on inside just kept getting loud and obnoxious by the minute. My advice to the owners and management of Karma Lounge is that if you're going to have a private event this loud- close the rest of the restaurant. All customers deserve the same attention and quiet to enjoy their outing. Also your food needs drastic changes. It's not difficult to create food with authentic flavors. I haven't been here in a while. Their food used to be soooooo good. But that sure has changed. Their portions even changed. Their Chicken Tandoori use to be soooooo so so good. The best that I'd had. And with an order you used to get 5 whole pieces of chicken. Well 2 legs 2 thighs and a portion of a breast that is. Today I got three pieces of a thigh and 2 premature legs. Lol and a bunch of onions over it. To make things even worse the seasoning wasn't even as good as it used to be. The chicken wasn't red like it used to be. It was a light orange color. And there was so much juice in the bottom of the container. I never had that experience before here. But that was a turn off. The Dal Taaka was good like it usually was. My garlic Naan was burned on the bottom but I peeled it off and ate it. I was awfully hungry. I only hate the experience that I had with the chicken. read more

FANTASTIC! My family and I went to this restaurant with little to no expectations regarding the taste of the food. We ordered their Hara Bhara kabab as an appetizer along with mango lassi, salted lassi and a Mumbai mule. As soon as the appetizer arrived and we took one bite of it - we knew that this was going to be one of the most delicious meals we've eaten. The kababs were a perfect blend of spices and crispiness. It was flaky on the outside and well cooked on the inside. We loved it so much we ordered another serving of the kababs. Then came our main entrees. We ordered butter chicken , paneer hara masala, paneer tikka masala, onion kulcha, garlic naan and plain naan. The naan was freshly made, crispy, well cooked and not like of those frozen heavy ones you get at other places. I would be remiss to not mention the kulcha. It was perfection!!! Perfect amount of spice, with butter on top, this was one heaven just waiting to be dipped in the tikka masala. The service was great and they also brought me cut onions and chilies with a little bit of chaat masala sprinkled on top! Why did I give it a five? - Might be due to Indian food being one of my favorite foods since I was a child, but they offered an ample selection and the flavors were stellar. They also had a buffet for lunch that typically helps the non-believer try a little of each dish to figure out what they'd order for take-out of dine in on alternative nights. The parking lot is partially full with the other businesses but Karma Lounge stands out as the central restaurant for large groups or intimate dates craving Indian food. We've been here several times and they have plenty of seating and the menu is robust with dishes for both meat lovers and vegetarians. I recommend the goat biriyani and garlic naan. Our friends who live nearby love to order takeout and always get the butter chicken. We have yet to try their weekend buffet, which includes free chai or lassi, but looking forward to taking advantage of that deal soon. The food is delicious and the staff is very kind. We have been ordering from them for a little while but finally decided to dine in and it was well worth it. The garlic naan was so buttery and tasty. My husband had the samosas which he loved and we shared the butter chicken which was divine. We cleaned the dish up with the naan because the sauce was so good. The waiter we had was very sweet and patient with our two year old son. It was a great experience. The restaurant is nicely decorated and feels very authentic. We hosted my dad's retirement dinner here on July 25 with a group of 14 people. This was a once-in-a-lifetime occasion, and we were hoping for a smooth and celebratory evening -- but unfortunately, the service and experience left us disappointed. I reached out to the restaurant privately 5 days ago before posting this review, but never received a response, which is why I am sharing this review here in hopes of helping out other customers. Reservation & Setup We had a reservation for 8:00 p.m., but it appeared the staff had either forgotten about our party or mistakenly gave our table inside away. We were eventually seated on the private patio, which worked out fine and gave us room to decorate and play music (which we appreciated). Service Service was the biggest issue. Our server often disappeared for long stretches, and it took 20-30 minutes (and three reminders) for our group's alcoholic drinks to arrive. For reference we only ordered four drinks in total, 1 beer and 3 cocktails. There was a long gap between appetizers and dinner; we didn't get our entrees until nearly 10 p.m., right as last call was being announced. Several items we wanted to order at last call were never brought because our server never returned. One of our family members has type 1 diabetes, and her blood sugar dropped significantly during the wait -- making the long delay even more concerning. After dinner, it felt like we were forgotten again. I had to go inside to ask for plates to be cleared, since we had placed our own tablecloths and wanted to tidy up. When I asked, the server said something like "Oh, we were planning to deal [with the dishes] tomorrow" -- a comment that felt unprofessional and awkward. Food The food was disappointing. I had requested medium spice levels (my family is Punjabi so we can handle a little heat!), but the dishes were very bland and clearly geared toward a non-Indian palate. The naan was doughy and undercooked, and the server seemed to pressure us into picking either naan or chapatis rather than a mix. Cleanliness & Ambiance The couch-style seating on the patio had an unpleasant odor (possibly from the cushions or the astroturf). The lights automatically shut off toward the end of the night, leaving our party in the dark until someone could be found to turn them back on. The restaurant is in a beautiful space, and I wanted this to be a joyful, memorable evening for my dad -- but the service and overall experience fell short. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. When my aunty tried to explain gently that the service and timing of everything was an issue, I feel like the server brushed it off with "well, these things just take time." I don't know if he relayed our feedback to the owner or if they honestly took it seriously. I really wanted to have another small business in the area to support, but I can't in good faith recommend this restaurant to anyone. You're better off going somewhere else. read more

Surprisingly, the name of this place did not appear under South Indian Cuisine and I found out by calling them that they do South Indian Cuisine. I went to the buffet on Saturday. They had a lot of vegetarian as well as meat options. I came in and the staff looked busy so I was able to find a table that had a place setting and I just sat down. I was the only one in my party. I had been to the buffet before so I just got up and went to the buffet got a plate and filled up! I grabbed one of the waiters in the back and asked him if he could get me some garlic naan. They didn't bring me any water while I was here but that was okay I don't usually drink when I eat anyways. But I love the food. They were friendly when I asked for the bill and asked me to do a review. Me of course I say sure! This is a great Indian restaurant if you want authentic Indian food. I don't think they spare on the spices I think you'll be able to taste different spices in the dishes. Sometimes when you go to an Indian restaurant you could have many dishes tasting the same LOL. But this place a curry tastes like a curry. Yeah I don't think you'll be disappointed at the buffet. It was $21.99 and $23.69 out the door for me.
