And YES the coffee is giving 2007 Lavazza bubbly capuccino vibes, and hell YES they may have Shazammed Home Depot's store music to build their playlist. Bliss cafe has exceptionally good food made fresh with so many options it's hard to choose what to put in your "Build Your Own Bowl". I went with a spring mix salad bowl, skipped the protein which is extra. Instead I opted for double edamame, steamed vegetables, sweet potatoes, hearts of palm, black beans, and coconut curry sauce. It was delicious and a good value for the money. Next time I will ask for double the sweet potatoes they were so good! Can't wait to come back and try other combinations! They also have Build Your Own yogurt and açaí bowls with loads of options, smoothies, some baked items and great coffee. This new counter-service spot is a winner. Just opened, so ironing out the kinks. Açaí bowls, smoothies and coffee on one side and warm bowls on the other. The bowls are only available from 12-8pm Thursday-Sunday. They are reworking their menu, so the previous ones on Google are not accurate for the warm bowls. You choose a base of any combination of rice, black beans, and spring mix. Add protein for $4. Choose some veggies, toppings, and a sauce or two. It's hard to stay on theme, but hey eat what you like! Everything was created to order and very fresh. They are generous with the toppings. The concept is great, the owners/operators were friendly and helpful. Lots of choices make the product a little slow coming out. They need a little fine tuning and a new posted menu, but I have high hopes for their success. I look forward to trying their açaí bowls next time. read more

The bowl was good enough that I would come back again, especially because it was fresh and healthy. My husband's chicken tortilla soup was also good. Those low star reviews don't know what they're talking about!!! I was looking for a healthy and yummy place in Joshua Tree and when I was passing through their downtown and saw Bliss Cafe. The food here is amazing!! I built my own bowl with chicken, the grilled onion and pepper, sweet potatoes, cucumber, feta, tomato, olives, hummus and goddess dressing. The service was great too! The staff answered all of my questions about how to build my own bowl. Gave me plenty of choices and I am super happy with the result. Next time for breakfast, I'm gonna stop for an açai bowl. Those look super tasty too. Overall, the atmosphere was really nice. It's a new business so everything is squeaky clean. To whomever complained about the lighting I have this to say to you... I went in to grab a quick smoothie, but it took much longer than expected. I paid $15 for a smoothie that looked to be about 16 oz. I ordered the date smoothie. The taste was okay and pretty average, and it was not worth the price for the size. I wish they offered different size options. Unique vegan option. Honestly, it was NOT edible. It's like they took every potential vegan item and just threw them in a bowl. The flavors do not go well together at all. The jackfruit tasted like it came directly out of the can it was shipped in. There was no attempt at seasoning the jackfruit.The vegan sausage was an Italian flavor. Put those two flavors together with the collard greens, beets, sweet potatoes, beans, rice.m, hearts of palm, crispy onion, all topped with green goddess dressing- nope. It did not taste good. Whoever created it did not try it. Also, the staff was unsure at which of the dressings/sauces were vegan. To play it safe I went with the bowl labeled plant based. I will try this café again, but it will not be for their menu plant base/vegan option. They do have a build your own bowl. That would be the way to go if they can get an ingredient list for the sauces/dressings. As far as the ambience, it lacks the uniqueness and coziness of the Joshua tree vibes. I'm sure that will change over time as it will become a little more lived in. There are bathrooms available for customers. The front door is nearly impossible to open unless you are a gym rat. Maybe it's just because it is new and hasn't been worn in yet. Three out of five stars because they are new. I hope on a future visit I will be able to update this to five out of five. read more

The food here is not the problem, the bowls are great. However, an issue happened with their staff that prompted my group to walk out while in line. On Sunday, February 8 around 9:30 am we were in line and noticed the girl with dark hair and a lot of tattoos on her arms behind the cash register wiping her runny nose with the side of her hand. She then grabbed a napkin, dabbed her nose, and then patted the side of her face, as if she had a fever. In addition when she went to start making the drinks for the people that were in front of us, she did not wash her hands after touching her nose or the cash register. All while spreading her sickly germs. We were completely disgusted and walked out. Food handlers should really consider the health and safety of their guests before preparing drinks and food and most certainly should not be coming to work if they are sick. Do not know that we would come back here because of this. read more

I didn't have enough rice to finish my chicken with -Bigger bowl for more rice would be nice -Don't put cold beans on a "hot" bowl -Heat up the chicken for the "hot" bowl...pieces were warm and had some cold areas...so maybe you just put in microwave?
