But for me, the Hawaiian BBQ was the star of the show. The beef was flavorful, it was chewy, and I have no complaints. I'm also very particular about mac salad, but I really liked this one. It wasn't too sweet, sauce was light, and tasted slightly savory which I preferred. The veggies were a nice touch too, the cabbage was crunchy and refreshing. Cheap quality frozen garbage. My "beef skewer" looked like a stray flap of rubber from a discarded tire. The chicken was a fat, ugly blob. Coconut shrimp is clearly of the frozen variety. Same for the egg roll. Look, I get it, some foods just come frozen. But this place also has a kitchen, this is a signature appetizer, and there's no reason you can make this stuff fresh, on hand, on the day. That's what happened when we were there. For $15 you can get the XL plate and it comes with ALL the meat offered, rice, and mac salad. For the XL plate we got: 1) Teriyaki Chicken: -This did not come with enough sauce in with itself, so I had to take some of the sauce from the teriyaki beef side. -Chicken was kinda dry and not very appealing texturally for me. -A bit too chicken-y if that makes sense. This was my least fav of the meat trio. 2) Pulled Pork: -On its own, pretty dry but I can taste the kalua pork inspiration. Simple flavor, with very slight salt added to it. -But because of how dry it was, I had to rely on the mac salad to enhance this... 3) Teriyaki Beef: -Probably my favorite of the 3 meats. -This one had the most flavor to it and was sauced perfectly. -Teriyaki sauce was the perfect medium of savory and sweet. -However, this meat was also a bit dry and tough, but not as much as the other 2. 4) Mac Salad: -You can never go wrong with Mac Salad and this definitely made some of the meats more palatable, but there wasn't enough to make it THAT much better.
