Yelp Review -- Extremely Disappointing and Unacceptable Experience I had an extremely disappointing experience at Bliss Nails & Spa in Ellicott City, and after what happened, I cannot recommend this salon to anyone. On Saturday, August 8, I went to Bliss Nails & Spa for a hard gel overlay on my natural nails. I was serviced by Linda. When I went to pay, I was charged $70, even though the price listed on their website and, more importantly, in the printed price booklet sitting at the front desk where customers pay, clearly stated $55. I questioned Linda about the $70 charge. She simply told me that $70 was the price. I pointed out that their posted price was $55, but I paid and left. I was there with my elderly mother and my daughter, who both had pedicures and were also very unhappy with the services they received. Unfortunately, the problems with my nails became even more serious. Less than 24 hours after having my nails done, 9 out of 10 nails were already lifting. That is completely unacceptable for a freshly applied hard gel overlay. Linda's work was extremely disappointing and clearly did not hold up. The following day, I called Bliss Nails & Spa and spoke with Ronan. I explained exactly what had happened and made it clear that I expected the defective work to be corrected at no additional charge. An appointment was scheduled for later that day. Linda was busy when I returned, so Ronan redid my nails. The result was horrible. The second set was also extremely disappointing, and I left the salon even more dissatisfied than I was the first time. I also raised the $70 charge again and asked to speak with the manager. I was told the manager was not there. Ronan then told me that $70 was the new price for a hard gel overlay and that the $55 price was an old price. There is a major problem with that explanation: the price booklet displayed at the front desk still clearly listed the service at $55. If the price has changed, the salon should update its website and printed price lists BEFORE charging customers the higher amount. Customers should not have to discover at checkout that the salon intends to charge them more than the price it publicly displays. What makes this experience particularly frustrating is that I gave Bliss Nails & Spa an opportunity to correct the first problem, and the second service was still unacceptable. So, to summarize: * I was charged $70 for a service publicly listed at $55. * 9 out of 10 nails were lifting within 24 hours. * I returned for a correction, and the replacement work was also poorly done. * My elderly mother's and daughter's pedicure experiences were also disappointing. * [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was unable to speak with a manager about the pricing issue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] * The explanation that $55 was an "old price" does not explain why the $55 price was still prominently displayed in their own printed price booklet. This was not simply a bad manicure. It was a combination of poor workmanship, inconsistent pricing, and extremely poor customer service. I expect a professional salon to stand behind its work, honor the prices it advertises, keep its pricing information current, and address customer complaints honestly and professionally. Bliss Nails & Spa failed on all four counts during my visit. I will never return, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend Bliss Nails & Spa to anyone looking for quality nail services or professional customer service. Very disappointing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I wish I could give it a higher review because the technicians were so nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But after thinking about it, maybe someone else can avoid the problem I had and will have with my nails until they completely grow in from the cuticle on. I had gel polish on my finger nails and toe nails that needed to be removed and that's where things went south for me. He used a Dremel to remove the gel after soaking them with acetone and to smooth out ridges on my nails. He remarked on how strong my nails were and even got the name of my collagen supplement for his Mom. Well, my nails are not strong anymore. They are back to the thin, splitting (one painfully breaking in the nail bed) condition they were in years ago when I finally stopped using acrylics. I have to start building them back all over again. I might go back once my nails are good again, but would take my own nail ridge filler and never let a Dremel near my nails again. read more

Like so many nail salons in this area. They just don't care anymore. They rush, don't do a good job. They cut your toe nails too short and you don't realize and now they are ingrown. Wow! Wonderful and very clean nail shop with nail technicians who are caring and knowledgeable about nails and beauty. I was able to have the awesome Linda fill my nails and it was a great experience. I have hard gel on my nails from my previous nail tech in another state as was looking to have the same service provided at Bliss Nails. After a couple of clarifying questions and information, Linda was able to provide me with what I needed. The nail experience was enjoyable, efficient, and collaborative as I like to share what I really want with my techs and gain their opinions as well. My nail shape is almond and I prefer a cut down after 3 weeks and Linda did both the snapping and cut down so well! I also got my eyebrows done by Linda, as well, and she did a perfect and I mean perfect job-by way of the arch and what I need. They never cut me or give any trama to my skin where almost every other place does. I've done countless gel manicures, acrylic full sets & SNS powder nails. Each experience has been great!!! I can't stress enough how beautiful Maria makes my natural nails as well as my acrylic nails. They last forever & are still crafted so thin. People have often thought my acrylic nails were real! Recently I wanted a good pedicure. There was a "menu" of so many different ones to get. I ended up getting the jelly pedicure for 50 minutes. It felt amazing and so cool! Transparently I didn't get an actual service. I had an appointment I got like five different texts reminding me about my appointment time the day before. I got here 5 minutes early To make sure I have enough time to check in and pick my color. I tell the front desk girl that I had an appointment at 10 she tells me to check in using the tablet and to go pick out my color. five minutes later I'm still sitting there I'm the only person in the salon another five minutes later the girl at the front gets up I'm assuming to go tell them I'm here comes back and says we don't have enough people and that she's gonna wrap my nails I tell her I don't have any nail polish on she has it go back again and tell them that I don't need to have nail polish on and then she tells me they don't have a lot of people but I'm the only person there and there was people in the back I could not see them but there was at least who voices so there was at least two people. anyway it's not so much that They didn't have the people I have a problem with it's The fact that they should never have confirmed an appointment with me at that time if they knew they were gonna have people or if it was a last minute thing where everyone called out then that should've been the first thing they told me when I walked in and had me sit there. They claim to have a butterfly kids chair but they do not. They charged $10 for 4 small stickers on my daughter's nails, which seemed excessive. It didn't even go on each finger! The space is beautiful and clean. The gentleman that greeted me was very welcoming and professional. My husband surprised me with a mani-pedi as part of my birthday celebration, and I arrived not knowing any details. The technician hurried me back to the pedicure chair and did a very quick, lazy pedicure. My toenails were clipped and filed unevenly and the polish is applied haphazardly and bubbled. The manicure was even quicker and just as sloppy. Not bubbled, but the topcoat didn't cover the polish fully on any finger. I also noticed when other customers came and sat in the pedicure chairs they were greeted and offered a beverage or snack, I was not. I was also not checked on or asked any questions as my nails were drying. Not once. I also took pictures of my toenails as they were drying in the salon. Approximate time between appointment start time and fully dried nails was about 35-40 minutes. As I left, one of the technicians did say, "Thank you, goodbye!". I was terribly disappointed with the quality of service and lack of care and attention I received, as if my presence was an imposition. I didn't want to post an unfavorable review without letting the establishment know what the issue was, so I went back in before getting into the car and showed the gentleman my concerns and at least they offered to fix the bubbling. Another young lady corrected the polish issue with my toenails. She was wonderful and also the gentleman I first encountered was personable and we all had pleasant conversation at that point. However, it does not negate the experience I had immediately prior. I really love and appreciate my hubby's gesture, but I have no plans on returning or changing from my preferred salon in Elkridge, although this is closer to home. I have been here at least 10 times and have had good experiences in the past. Today I went as a walk in and had to walk out after four of my fingers were filed. My pinky and pointer started bleeding while this lady was filing my fingers. She filed past the white part of my nail and straight into the nail bed. My friend and I requested an appointment through Yelp and Bliss was super responsive getting us in the next day. We both got regular mani pedis and Bliss had a ton of colors to choose from. I didn't get gel this time, but they had a ton of gel colors as well. The spa was very clean and upscale looking. My friend and I actually said "is this place too nice for us?!". They also had candy and snacks, which is a plus in my book! I believe they also offer wine, but we were there early in the day and didn't ask. We had our pedis in a separate room with two chairs, so it was very nice and private. The massage chairs and the leg massage were wonderful. My nails look great and the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because my friend's polish smudged and chipped within hours of leaving... I was positive we were completely dry, so not sure what happened. The mani pedi was $40, which I think is pretty standard for the area and totally worth it for the service I received. I really like the salon and the quality of service I get from Mi Mi who is out on vacation. KC started my pedicure and right away I could tell she didn't feel like doing a quality job. She didn't even say hello. She rushed thru each stage of the pedicure without the same attention to detail I've become accustomed with Mi Mi. First the lady at the front desk Bushra was very unprofessional and rude don't know how to welcome or communicate with the client: Second while getting a meni that place didn't follow complete COVID precautions. Lady was not wearing gloves when I ask her she said my hands are washed I was waho OK. And then the brushes she is siding were not sanitize. I love all the precautions that this salon is taking from the plexiglass at the manicure stations, to the plexiglass at the pedicure stations and hand sanitizer everywhere and spaced individuals at the pedicure stations every other seat. I love this nail salon and the very friendly nail techs. I believe they have a wide array of colors and they are always trying to build upon it to please customers. Maria and Ronan are the best and they always try to accommodate their customers. They always offer a drink upon arrival and they have snacks you can munch on while waiting for your nails to dry.
