This is not the 1st time I been to this Ahh Nails and Spa salon for a manicure, but I decided to give them another shot it's been a year or so and not to my surprise they really haven't gotten any better, every few seconds I was saying ouch and checking to see if my toes were bleeding she was filing my toes so hard that they were hurting so then after polishing my nails I let them dry I thought a very reasonable time she came over and sprayed them and said OK by the time I got in the car and looked down they were smeared Yeah I could've went back in there, and ash them to fix it but I don't feel comfortable when people be mumbling under their breath and laughing at you when you talk about it hurting so I was like you know what I learned my lesson I won't be back there and I definitely won't be recommending them in anyway. read more

Came here to get a pedi and full set for vacay. Kim, the owner, is a bit of a chatterbox, but provides a decent service. The salon is located in a very small strip of stores on Frederick Ave. in Catonsville, where there is parking located. It is well kept and meets my sanitation requires as I don't want a head of cabbage growing under my nailbeds. They offer pedis (with a massaging chair), manis, full set, and waxing services. The staff are polite and they have a TV for viewing (captioned), soft music playing and they offer comp water during your service. Honestly, I have been missing this place since I moved to Rockville!!! They are the only ones to dig out my ingrown nails and grate the callous off the bottom of my feet in such a detailed way...there really aren't many places like them and this is why whenever I am in the area, I come back! I've been meaning to try this salon for a while. There are a lot of nail places in Catonsville but there name really stands out to me! AHHHH! I loved how the pedicure area was in a separate peaceful area and also that they offered me water. The color selection was so-so and they could benefit from more colors and brands. The staff is nice and my pedicure was extremely relaxing. This is a basic pedicure and no bells and whistles (or they didn't offer any upgrades). First, let me state that I am a local business owner a block away from this nail salon. I am also a person that believes in supporting local business to keep our community going. However this will business I will never support again. My First experience wasn't that great considering most of the time I was in the seat the nail techs were talking back and forth. I felt as though myself and other clients there were interrupting their social hour. It was extremely rude and uncomfortable. Needless to say I went back a couple months later, due to the fact I was strapped for time. Not only was the service horrible the nail tech was probably the worst I have ever meant. - I don't think half of these techs are licensed, due to their inconsistent technique of performing a pedicure service. My poor niece really got a polish change even though we asked for a "pedicure" and charged for a "pedicure". They just soaked her feet and put hot towels on her legs and polish on her toes. There was no filing, cuticle cutting, scrubbing of the heels of the feet and no lotion massage on the legs. Again strapped for time I didn't complain. -my nail tech first looked at my feet as if she was horrified, keep in mind I maintience my feet every two weeks and she so that because I asked for a design that was similar to what I currently had, she responds "Oono I don't know how to do that, I don't do designs" as she is still looking at my feet as she was disgusted. I don't think personally she knows how to or like to perform a pedicure service. Half way into the pedicure she continues to talk about my callouses on the bottom of my feet. Repeating "you have a lot of callouses, extra $5" I stated ok no problem, but she kept reapting as there were others around being serviced. At this point she has said it 4 times and I am embarrassed considering my feet aren't bad at all!! I mean I stand on my feet all day , they might be alittle ruff but not that bad at all. Needless to say this is why I don't believe there licensed techs due to the fact that even after she said it 4 times she still didn't perform the proper technique to remove callouses. I will never reffer anyone there even though they are across the street from my business. Nor ever have anything nice to say about this establishment. read more

This place is great! Everyone is really nice and attentive! It is clean and nicely decorated. I had no expectations and they definitely pleasantly surprised me! So far I've had both a pedicure and a gel manicure. This will be my go-to place from now on. UPDATE: The more I go to this place, the more I am underwhelmed by the experience. Some of the employees are nice and apparently those are the few I encountered my first couple visits because I've found some of the others to be routinely snippy and judgy (I may have made that term up but you know what I mean!!). I love the nail technician i had been using for over 9 years . She is meticulous and detail oriented and takes her time to make sure ones hands are "perfect" in every way and I spend a lot of time 3 hours when i come to have my nails feet down. I am 40 minutes away one way so i make sure all is done. My only and major complaint with owner Larry is that when they moved to larger place the increase in rates is not posted at all and one believes it to be the same as before. is higher and should be noted that on their signage. At their previous location a balloon was outside hanging and their offer was to pay cash. one would receive a 20% off with the cash payment.Now its uncertain what is what again. I went in to speak to owner Larry last week to share with him that i was so upset he would not take a RESERVATION two months in advance for New years Eve. So when i came in for New Years eve re polishing of my nails , told to sit and Mina would be with me in a few. I am 40 minutes from my home , still had to go home, eat and shower and get dressed for a 9pm event , it was an hour and still no Minah and i left not happy for i could have prevented this if only he took reservations. No sense in talking to owner at all for its senseless to show how there is no loyalty for customers who have longevity and i often bring in edible foods for staff to eat too and it appears they are happy .My other pet peeve is that the staff talks to each other in Vietnamese; its rude in our USA ettiquette ways. They are friendlier than most nail salons I've been too. They really pushed me to do gel, slight errors in the straightness of lines. But the biggest issue was that the acrylic was not thick enough, I had substantial chips after a week and a half, and I've had times were I've waited 3 1/2- 4 weeks to get my nails redone and had no chips in the actual plastic. Oh also the nail on the thumb was filed way shorter than the rest of the nails. Big thumbs up for the awesome design however, cheetah print spots. Place was very clean, but slightly on the pricey side. Probably would give it another shot, but would ensure the acrylics are made a lot thicker. read more

I had an accent nail and I didn't like the color so I asked her to remove it and use a different color. She then proceeded to make fun of my voice and tell me that she's not changing the polish because I'm not going to like another one either. I literally am the nicest person you'll ever meet but this lady made me so upset I walked out of the nail salon with my nail smudged and polish still all over my hands. I love coming here.....It has an awesome peaceful and serene atmosphere. I had a Nail Tech for a little over a year named Tao but she moved away and she was pretty awesome. When she was not there I would go to Jeremy and he is awesome as well but stays booked up. I will never let Kim do my nails ever again they are always done poorly and in a rush.....then two weeks later popping off. I've been using this salon for a few years and never any significant complaint. I will agree with another poster that the techs are a bit inconsistent, but I have experienced the same at every nail salon I've been to. I also maintain every 2-3 weeks, and have never had any tech look at my feet in horror, even when I was part way thru a corn removal pad process, so it would have been understandable! I've also never had any problem with their pricing, tho, the grand opening 20% off sign has been there for years... I don't care, the price list is right there where you walk in, so I've Never had any issue with that. I have seen in other salons that men's pedicures cost more. I'm not sure why, but it seems to be a common practice. Perhaps the gentleman who is upset by that could explain why women's clothing costs more to dry clean, or hair costs more to cut. Today was my first visit to Ahh Nails, and I will definitely be back. The massage I got during my pedicure was top-notch. All of the staff, not just my pedicurist, were friendly and seemed genuinely concerned with their customer's happiness. I received a recommendation from a stranger at another nail salon, where I had already waited over an hour, to try this one. Thank you SO MUCH! I walked right in and was seated within five minutes. My technician did a cute fireworks design on my toes and thumbs, at the suggestion of another technician. They truly work as a team in this salon, and I am a happy camper! Stopped by with 3 other ladies for mani/pedis. The owner was nice and accommodating. The spa area was pretty relaxing, definitely a plus. I had Jeremy, he took his time and was very meticulous. Took off one star because 2 of my friends had problems. The first did the basic pedicure but was rushed and I complained about the polish and she got an attitude so she decided to stick with It. Not fair in my opinion considering she was paying for it. The other lady in our party started last and was rushed too. Her technician disappeared for like 5-10mins without saying anything came back and was done(unacceptable) my friend complained to the owner and was going to have someone else do it. There was a 20% off sign posted if you get services done around a certain time of the day but that was not honored even though I fell within the time frame. When I started calling around to other places when I was ready to get a pedicure again most places told me $25-$30 so now I know this place is grossly over-priced. read more

The worst manicure and pedicure I've ever gotten. I have natural nails which were polished with the gel polish. I let the manicurist know and she still buzzed the polish off. She didnt soak the nail and didnt scrape the rest off. Polished overtop of the existing polish. Now I have 4 coats. She made my finger bleed. I asked to fix one of my chipped nails so that it wouldn't break and that wasn't done. By day 3 the nail broke. During the pedicure the scraped the side of my foot because she couldn't see what she was scrubbing and made me bleed there too. It's been two and a half weeks and its still not healed. Met up with a friend for a Mani/Pedi yesterday and I must say its a great place and well priced for the services! From what my friend told me the owner himself did my mani/pedi for me. Always love the massage chairs and he also have a great foot and calf massage! My feet feel smooth and he was very gentle with getting the dead tissue and nastiness around my big toe off. (Sorry but I'm a runner and the big toe has been an issue) Next I changed from regular to Gelish nail polish and he did a great job cutting them down, filing and putting polish on. I didn't find any attitude or slow service that some others reported. I'm definitely going again as it was $45 for gel manicure and pedicure and it was right before Christmas holidays!! read more

So, today was my very first visit... and it will be my last also! I seen lots of good reviews for this place so I thought that while I was in town it would be a good place to go! And they have a 20% off special! While the technicians were friendly, I had two separate techs who each did half of the service, the first obviously was sick, or i dont know what. But when asked to fix my thumb, where she had filed an 8th of an inch into my REAL nail, she got an attitude and really didn't do anything. After her attempt she walked out and another came in. Now I asked in the beginning for coffin shape, it's not hard, I know as I myself am a cosmetologist! Well apparently to the original tech coffin shape is filing one side really in and the other not much at all! And when asked to fix she ignored my request, telling me it would be ok! When the second tech took over and finished buffing and then painted I was just at my end, I wanted them done so I could get out! The paint luckily covers some of the oddness of the Mixed matched angling, but it is still far from what I asked for. Not to mention she filed so far down the edges of all my real nails are now paper thin! And the nails them self are very fragile and even bendable! So I paid $40, was not given the 20% off, and have to walk around with these nails for the next week until they grow enough to get them fixed which I'm sure will cost more then the original $40! And I have to go in sooner rather then in another 2-3 weeks! I would not recommend this place for anything but the basics. And if your particular about your nails I would not recommend at all! I have been there multiple times and they know their stuff, but some of the employees here are rude. On one occasion, a lady did my nails and when I was done, I handed the manager my credit card to pay, as I was about to sign my receipt, the lady who did my nail grabbed my neck and said "where my money" in front of the manager because I did not give her tip. This is very very unacceptable especially to customers. I did not tip her because she was very rude, rushing and not professional. After she grabbed my neck she started laughing and said she was joking. I don't think that was funny and I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! This is why I am giving this place 1 star read more
