I will never go back to the place. Only a couple of stylists are competent and my appointment today was the last straw. I booked my appointment with one person only to be given someone else when I arrived. Then they flat out lied and said they can't guarantee who I'll be assigned to when I show up. If that's their policy then their stylists need more training so everyone is decent. EDITED AFTER REPLY: Yes, the appointment was for my mother. When I made the appointment you clearly said it was with "D" and you said so several times. When my mom arrived, it was suddenly with "N" who I have had twice in the past but never requested after two bad experiences. Never in a million years would I have booked her for my mom. My mom left very unhappy but she's polite and would not have expressed her true feelings. In reality, she came home, showered and redid her hair. So what actually happened is that you told me I had booked with "D" but knowing it was for my mom (because we discussed it when I booked), you switched it and didn't tell me. Very rude and unprofessional and as a result, i will never return. read more

I am only giving this salon two stars because one of the stylists did try and fix my hair so I feel giving just one star is slightly unfair. With that being said I am disappointed this was my experience after reading such rave reviews, but here goes: I made an appointment to get my hair done/full face of makeup for my head shots. As a performer, head shots are EVERYTHING. It's what I will use to book work. Now I would say I am pretty good at makeup/hair myself because I've had lots of practice over the years being in the entertainment industry, but after chopping all my hair off and getting a new look, I thought why not pamper myself a bit the day of and have someone professional do it. I just moved here from California where there are blow out bars/dry bars everywhere, and they are all great. I am not sure if it's just not a thing here yet or whether I just got really unlucky, but this was not what I have ever experienced at a blow out bar. For those familiar with the "menu" I was wanting messy beachy curls (sex on the beach). Before getting into what she did, I would like to note that my hair is just past my shoulders in a slightly long a line cut, so the back is a bit shorter than the front. She washed and dried my hair, then proceeded to curl it in sections with a curling iron, and pin the curls. Now anyone familiar with hair knows that this is what you would do for someone with long hair that wants big curls with lots of volume...not at all what I was going for, nor would that look right with my cut. I would also like to point out the entire time this girl was doing my hair (I am not going to name drop) she was complaining out loud about being hungry and having a headache, I am not a snob by any means, but I didn't appreciate the unprofessional attitude. After my hair was set, she had me go do the makeup with someone else in the back. I wish I took a picture of what my makeup looked like before I wiped all of it off and did it myself. Now I am no makeup artist, but after this experience I sure do feel like I could be. I told her I wanted "a full face of makeup with neutral colors for my eyes, nothing too dramatic because everything would need to look good in natural light for the shoot." This is literally what I got before she asked me to look in the mirror: Full coverage liquid foundation everywhere, powder on top, a gold shimmery eyeshadow on the lid/crease, mascara on the top lashes, and a little bit of blush. I am sorry but that is no makeup artist. They make concealer, under eye concealer/set powder, eyeshadow primer for a reason. NO ONE SHOULD EVER DO LIQUID FOUNDATION ON YOUR ENTIRE FACE. Now "neutrals" to me are natural shades of cream, beige, brown, etc that are matte based, not gold and shimmery. You can still do 2-3 different shades of eyeshadow color and blend them to look amazing without it being too dark or dramatic. Duh. Then lets talk about not doing bottom lash mascara, any sort of liner, no eyebrows, and no lips. When I said I didn't want it "dramatic" I didn't mean I didn't want ANYTHING-A "full face" means a full face. I can't even get into the eyebrows she did after I asked, so this is where my ramble is going to end. When she took my hair down-two words: Dolly Parton. Imagine big curls above the shoulders with tons of volume on top. If I were getting my head shots done in 1985 I would have looked amazing. Now I will say I really appreciated the girl who tried to fix it after I was almost in tears, but there was too much product and hairspray in it at that point and I knew I would have to wash it and start all over. In the end I had to make an emergency appointment at the salon where I got my hair done and luckily they were able to squeeze me in for a wash and style. I then rushed home, wiped all my makeup off and did it myself in 15 minutes. Not only was I late to my shoot, but my husband had to drive me all the way to Brooklyn because of it. Such a waste of time and money. In the end the owner still tried to charge me $50 for the makeup because she felt a full refund was "unfair". This just makes me laugh. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! read more

Great experience! No hassle appointment booking online. Friendly staff - Matt was my stylist and he does a great hair wash. He recommended a style for me also and it came out FAB! I guess it would be categorized as the Hoboken Up Towner - straight and smooth but lots of volume! I was offered a glass of champagne which is never turned down. I came in on Christmas Eve looking for fresh blow out. The stylist did a great job on my hair and I loved my blow out. The only problem is the salon had no hot water. The water was freezing and not a relaxing wash at all. I think the salon should of notified their clients prior to their appointment. I would return but nervous about getting another icy hair wash. read more

I love Blo-it-out lounge!!! The staff is very experienced and super friendly. My blow out typically lasts 4-5 days which is amazing. So happy this spot is so close to my house. I sometimes bring my kids and everyone is always so nice and welcoming. read more

It was my second time coming here and had another wonderful experience! I came on a Thursday and had the place to myself. My stylist was Alexis and I absolutely loved her. She listened to what I wanted and was such a delight to talk with. My hair lasted 4 days and would have been longer if I hadn't gone in the pool! I will definitely be returning. I absolutely loved my experience at Blo It Out Lounge! Ashley was fantastic! I was in town for a wedding and a friend who frequents the lounge regularly highly recommended I enjoy the experience. I gave it a try for rehearsal dinner. Everyone at the salon was friendly and my stylist, Ashley, was such a delight and styled my hair perfectly.
