We recently threw a large party for my parent's 50 year anniversary at Bloom and it was a hit! We were able to fit a little under 100 guests to dine and have a good night inside the venue. The tables are laid out on the long table so you can eat comfortably. The servers bring out delicious food in waves. My favorite was the steak! Super delicious. There were a few other exotic foods but I couldn't remember what they were. The venue has a lot of projector screens and TVs in sync so you play a family album on the screen. BLOOM="Because Love Overcomes One's Misfortune" I attended a wedding reception that was catered by Bloom. There were some hits and there were some misses. Crab asparagus soup- The white asparagus threw me off a bit because I didn't know what it was until someone told me. Hoisin glazed baby back ribs- They fell off the bone, but I prefer smoky ribs. Thai crystal seaweed prawns salad- I've never heard of crystal seaweed before. I thought they were glass noodles at first that weren't cooked properly. The seaweed's texture was weird. The salad was also too tangy. Chicken stuff with sticky rice- The chicken was moist. I liked this dish as a whole. Bloom's lobsters with garlic noodles- The lobsters were humungous and had lots of meat to them. They were my favorite thing to eat at the reception. The noodles were lacking in garlic though. Chilean Sea bass with oyster mushrooms wrapped in banana leaf- The fish was moist. Mushroom flavored rice- No flavor rice is more like it. Profits fund vocational training and other programs for disadvantaged children in Vietnam, Cambodia and USA. Their mission statement is admirable. I have so much love for BLOOM catering, their organizers, and their mission. We booked with them for our wedding, and they were more than willing to work with our vision, budget, and timeline. Dinner was definitely the hit of our reception.. our family and guests could not stop raving about the food! I wish I took pictures of everything before they were all gone! We did family style catering with Vietnamese/Asian fusion food: fruit and cheese skewers, baked stuffed Cornish hen, honey miso glazed salmon, garlic noodles, and mixed grilled vegetables. Not only was their presentation beautiful, but the food itself was tasty, fresh, and plentiful. What I love most about their approach to food is ensuring that all guests received an inclusive meal experience even if they have dietary restrictions - they were able to make alternative yet similar versions for our guests with gluten, dairy, shellfish, and nuts allergies. We will definitely be donating to their cause in support of orphanages in Vietnam and Cambodia, and we will definitely book with them again for future events. This time I got to plan the Heroes Breakfast for American Red Cross Heroes in Silicon Valley. We chose Bloom Catering to cater to the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. Chef Hung was with us for the planning since day 1, so Tiffani and Benjamin. Everyone was working hard to make sure that Red Cross had a wonderful event for our Heroes, sponsors, board committee and guests. The food was delicious. We love the egg tart with mushroom, spinach, and tomato. The Vietnamese sticky rice with Chinese sausage was good. The American sausage sautéed in onion and bell peppers was tasty. And the prettiest dish was the granola and yogurt. Bloom Catering is also a nonprofit organization to help under privileged children in Vietnam and children trafficking. So with doing business with them, it was for a good cause and they also give other nonprofit organization like Red Cross discount. We appreciate that. My wife and I chose this catering company to provide food for our annual Super Bowl party at our estate. It was a recommendation from one of Martell Cognac company's representatives. We couldn't have been more pleased. Since then we have worked with them on various events including a charity event held at the Gucci Store on Santana Row this past June. The Gucci store manager considers my wife as one of their top clients, thus allowing her to use their store as the venue for a charity function. As a result of the food and service provided at that event, Gucci Santana Row will be using Bloom Catering again for their grand re-opening in December 2013! We have also used their catering services for our son's (very extravagant) Vegas-themed birthday party and other holiday parties. BC went out of their way to create an entire acrylic/crystal-like display for the appetizer area with color, fiber optic lighting. We were impressed!! Please see pictures. Food is exceptional. You need to let them know what you want and your price points. I know there are people out there who want a buffet fit for a king, but would only pay $30 per person for it. Be reasonable people!! After all, any profits they make go towards supporting and sustaining their charity organization - ACWP (Aid to Children without Parents). All of our parties to date, our guests have only wonderful things to say about the food, service and entertainment. Also, if you like their food (when tasting) and prices, book them immediately. That was what we did. Do not hesitate. Sometimes you snooze, you loose. And they get booked up by another client on your date. In which case, they won't be able to help you for your event. Then you might end up posting something negative about their company, which doesn't even reflect on their foods or service on your event date. It only reflects on your mistake, not theirs. If they received someone else's deposit before yours, then you have effectively snoozed. read more

Day 2: E-Mail sent to Bloom of the menu items we would like to taste/order for our event. Day 7: No response to the e-mail, re-send e-mail/phone call Day 8: They finally respond, follow up e-mail the same day for price estimates for items and to see how we can do a taste test. Day 14: No response to the e-mail, resend again. Day 16: Finally respond via e-mail and a phone call and they tell us they will contact us soon about a possible taste test of these items soon. Day 33: No response so I send an e-mail. Day 40: They respond back by saying they will have a food truck tasting at their office location and they will have all of our items available for taste testing. Day 50: Go to the taste test and they did not have all the items we requested but a majority of them, we didn't really care to waste more time, we picked our items from what they had and e-mailed them that same day of what we wanted for our event. Day 53: No response, follow up e-mail. Day 54: They respond back to us and give us a total, and I MAIL OUT THE DEPOSIT CHECK the following day. Day 65: Get a phone call from them stating that THEY CAN'T DO OUR EVENT anymore as they have another event that day, why did you waste almost 2 month of our precious time?!? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am not going to call out any names, curse, or anything else of such sorts...I will leave you with these kind words about BIoom Catering: "STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!" read more

I cannot begin to tell you all how unprofessional Bloom Catering has been. For a non-profit you'd think they would be thankful to their customers who contribute to a good cause since apparently their profits go to an orphanage in Asia. But NOPE! They could care less. My fiancé and I have been in communication with them for about 2 months. We were planning on having them cater the appetizers for our wedding. A friend of ours recommended them so we decided to give them a shot. FIRST of all, they take forever to respond to emails and phone calls (about 1-2 weeks to hear back) so if you have questions, make sure you get it all out at once. Be prepared continuously follow up with them, because they certainly will not take the initiative. SECONDLY, when we were finally able to set up a time with them for taste testing, they were not able to prepare all of the appetizers we chose since they have to make foods in bulk. All food tasting is done during their food truck events on Fridays. I guess this is understandable, but still disappointing. But the food was decent, and Tiffany promised that she would give us exactly what we wanted and that they had a good reputation in the community. Also, since profits go to a good cause, my fiancé and I chose our appetizers and put in a deposit. FINALLY, we get a call a few weeks later from Bloom that they are cancelling the orders for our wedding!!!! WHATTTTTTTTTTTTT??????? Planning a wedding is stressful enough, so when something that is suppose to be a sure thing falls through the cracks, you can imagine our dismay...We were told that they emailed us a few days ago (BIG FAT LIE!!!!!!) letting us know that they would be unable to cater our event. First of all, if you were cancelling an event as important as someone's wedding, you would think they would have the courtesy of calling us first before even trying to emails us. But like I said, all they care about is money, not their customers. They told us that they had received someone else's deposit before ours...doubt it because they should of told us they were booked that day before we sent in our deposit. I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS CATERING COMPANY TO ANYONE....ESPECIALLY FUTURE BRIDES!!! What I don't understand is people wanting the best kinds of foods (lobster, filet mignon, etc.) but only want to pay $40-50/head. Give me a break people! Chefs who are this talented and honest need to make a living too. I've hired catering companies and paid over $200/person and don't get nearly amazing quality of food as Bloom's for half the price. We had Tiffani and Bloom cater our outdoor wedding of a 150 people last month, and to this day people still can't stop raving about how amazing the food was! I am Vietnamese, so naturally I wanted Asian cuisine at our wedding but didn't want a traditional Chinese restaurant for our reception. Thus, Bloom was the perfect answer. Even my traditional parents, who were first somewhat reluctant on our catering choice, loved the food. Planning for a wedding is never easy, but with less than 2 months left, we changed our venue. The venue was one that Bloom has not worked with in the past; however not only were they amenable, they went above and beyond to make sure that we had the wedding of our dreams. Tiffani was awesome to work with, she gave us all kinds of advice, even non food-related! Chef Hung is amazing; his enthusiasm when discussing the dishes shows how passionate he is about what he does. Lastly, it's worth mentioning that they do a lot of non-profit work overseas and it's nice to have businesses that give back in a meaningful way. My husband and I can't recommend Bloom enough! P.S. Regarding the bad review of them canceling on someone, I asked Bloom about it and they had an explanation. I hired Bloom Catering to cater my Fashion Show Event on 9/26 at the San Jose Woman's Club. The service, food and presentation was excellent! Tiffany and Hung, a husband and wife team, along with their two daughters helping, went the extra mile and added a few extra delectable delights for my guest-attendees. They took pride in everything they prepared and it showed. My guests couldn't say enough about the delicious variety of foods. The food presentation was done so professionally with an artistic flair, I was highly impressed. It was Bloom Catering's idea to prepare hot dinner boxes for my models, staff and volunteers; chicken breast, noodles, egg roll and veggies, a balanced meal. What a treat for everyone. My models, staff and volunteers couldn't believe how well they were fed. I myself was so busy running around taking care of my show, I didn't stop to eat. We had Bloom cater my daughter's Cotillion at Villa Ragusa last Friday. The party was a success! And they were great! Benjamin was very professional, responsive, and easy to work with in the planning stage. He was very good in giving us advise on food selections and was very accommodating on our changes in the plan as we moved closer to the event date. At the party, our guests were raving on how delicious the food was!! It was in fact one of the highlights of our party--the young and old loved the food! Tiffany was the catering manager that night. She and her crew were awesome! They took over that night and I personally felt good that I didn't have to worry about the food serving part of the party because she managed all that for us and made it easy. I also like the fact that the profit from this catering goes towards helping disadvantaged children in Southeast Asia. Unreliable. Flaky. Tried to book a party with them 21 days in advance of event. Spoke with them 4 times about menu, prices, times, etc. After 10 days, they advised they had made a mistake, and were fully booked for the date of my event. They said they had been very busy, and had not had time to check the schedule previously. No recommendations of other caterers, no help, out of luck. Apparently not the first time. I booked Bloom Catering for my wedding in May. It was difficult coordinating things via phone but when we met in person Tiffany was really nice and helpful. They are very accommodating in term of budget and food selection. I even rent my chairs and tables from them. At first I was kind of hesitated because sometimes it is really hard to get a hold of her and she seems short when it comes to email, but after the food sampling, I was totally sold. Food was really good, not at all Chinese restaurant banquet menu, it is more fusion Asian-French cuisine. I came with a friend to the tasting (at some event they were catering) and even though we insisted that we only needed one serving for each dish, she served us two servings each for the price of one. So yummy, even people at the event complimented on their food and services. I can't wait to have more of their salmon and fillet!!! My wife and I hired Bloom Catering for our New Orleans-themed wedding in Ben Lomond / Felton, CA in July 2012. This was quite possibly the best decision we made in our wedding planning process = Dallas Lee (with whom we worked exclusively) made himself readily available, and worked within our budget without sacrificing quality or taste. On our big day, the one consistent praise that we heard from our guests was on how exquisite the food was. My groomsman, who is quite particular about food (he's an amazing cook), kept going back for multiple servings of Dallas' cajun masterpieces. Once my wife and I were able to settle down from the ceremony and dig into the food, we were blown away ourselves = it was some seriously delicious stuff! Keep in mind that Dallas prepared food for over 150 guests, and at a fraction of the price that we found elsewhere. I hope Bloom and Dallas are still going strong in a couple dozen years, because I want them to cater the wedding of my firstborn (who is on the way!). read more
