Crab asparagus soup
Helen H.

BLOOM="Because Love Overcomes One's Misfortune" I attended a wedding reception that was catered by Bloom. There were some hits and there were some misses. Crab asparagus soup- The white asparagus threw me off a bit because I didn't know what it was until someone told me. Hoisin glazed baby back ribs- They fell off the bone, but I prefer smoky ribs. Thai crystal seaweed prawns salad- I've never heard of crystal seaweed before. I thought they were glass noodles at first that weren't cooked properly. The seaweed's texture was weird. The salad was also too tangy. Chicken stuff with sticky rice- The chicken was moist. I liked this dish as a whole. Bloom's lobsters with garlic noodles- The lobsters were humungous and had lots of meat to them. They were my favorite thing to eat at the reception. The noodles were lacking in garlic though. Chilean Sea bass with oyster mushrooms wrapped in banana leaf- The fish was moist. Mushroom flavored rice- No flavor rice is more like it. Profits fund vocational training and other programs for disadvantaged children in Vietnam, Cambodia and USA. Their mission statement is admirable. While the food was creative, some were lacking.

****************** 1641 ****************** I've been a volunteer for American Red Cross for more than a decade now. I got to involve with many event planning over the years. This time I got to plan the Heroes Breakfast for American Red Cross Heroes in Silicon Valley. We chose Bloom Catering to cater to the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. Chef Hung was with us for the planning since day 1, so Tiffani and Benjamin. Everyone was working hard to make sure that Red Cross had a wonderful event for our Heroes, sponsors, board committee and guests. The food was delicious. We love the egg tart with mushroom, spinach, and tomato. The Vietnamese sticky rice with Chinese sausage was good. The American sausage sautéed in onion and bell peppers was tasty. And the prettiest dish was the granola and yogurt. Bloom Catering is also a nonprofit organization to help under privileged children in Vietnam and children trafficking. So with doing business with them, it was for a good cause and they also give other nonprofit organization like Red Cross discount. We appreciate that. We will definitely use Bloom Catering again in the future.

The lighted display BC created for the appetizer area.

My wife and I chose this catering company to provide food for our annual Super Bowl party at our estate. It was a recommendation from one of Martell Cognac company's representatives. We couldn't have been more pleased. Since then we have worked with them on various events including a charity event held at the Gucci Store on Santana Row this past June. The Gucci store manager considers my wife as one of their top clients, thus allowing her to use their store as the venue for a charity function. As a result of the food and service provided at that event, Gucci Santana Row will be using Bloom Catering again for their grand re-opening in December 2013! We have also used their catering services for our son's (very extravagant) Vegas-themed birthday party and other holiday parties. BC went out of their way to create an entire acrylic/crystal-like display for the appetizer area with color, fiber optic lighting. We were impressed!! Please see pictures. Food is exceptional. You need to let them know what you want and your price points. I know there are people out there who want a buffet fit for a king, but would only pay $30 per person for it. Be reasonable people!! After all, any profits they make go towards supporting and sustaining their charity organization - ACWP (Aid to Children without Parents). All of our parties to date, our guests have only wonderful things to say about the food, service and entertainment. Also, if you like their food (when tasting) and prices, book them immediately. That was what we did. Do not hesitate. Sometimes you snooze, you loose. And they get booked up by another client on your date. In which case, they won't be able to help you for your event. Then you might end up posting something negative about their company, which doesn't even reflect on their foods or service on your event date. It only reflects on your mistake, not theirs. If they received someone else's deposit before yours, then you have effectively snoozed.

I don't know what this is, but it's amazing! Love this company, everything taste so good!

This company is delicious! We hired them for my grandpas 70th birthday party and we got about a million compliments on the food! I was worried that my grandpa wouldn't like the food since it was not traditional Vietnamese food. However I was wrong, we all loved the food, especially my grandpa!

I've been meaning to write this review. Tiffany and her staff were very helpful to me when I needed to cater for a big party of 100 for my company. They were flexible and very friendly. Food was good and everyone was happy. Also I know that Tiffany does a lot of non-profit work so I always feel good supporting a business that does good deeds for others. Thanks Tiffany!

Catered event: 9/26 Fashion Show at San Jose Woman's Club. The food and presentation was excellent!

The ube chicken and waffles and the Dino banh mi dip were delicious! Any of their sauces were packed with flavor. The interior had a romantic vibe to it. They should make the service area match though. Customer service was good and they appeared pretty busy. Parking was small, but I did not have a hard time doing a spot.

The portions are generous, and every dish we ordered came out looking just as good as it tasted. From the tacos and grilled meats to the noodles, bánh mì, and chicken and waffles, everything was packed with flavor. Even the drinks tasted great, although I wish they used a little less ice since they were gone after just a few sips. The only downside was the wait. The restaurant is pretty small, so it's understandable that it gets busy, but be prepared to wait during peak hours. Once we were seated, our drinks took a really long time to come out, and that was probably the most frustrating part of the experience. The service wasn't bad, but it could definitely be more attentive, especially when the restaurant is full. Overall, the food made up for the wait, and I'd still come back. The quality, variety, and portion sizes are worth it. If they can improve the drink wait times and make the service a little more efficient, this place would easily be one of my favorites. Definitely worth checking out if you're craving Vietnamese food with plenty of options.

The Chinese sausage pieces sprinkled throughout added extra flavor too. The bowl is deep so there seemed to be roughly 5 cups of rice. Unfortunately the laksa shrimp fried rice was disappointing in comparison. It didn't have much flavor overall - better than plain rice but definitely needed more seasoning. The menu lists homemade laksa sauce as an ingredient but we didn't taste that, and the dish wasn't spicy at all either despite the 1 chili pepper rating. But it looked just like the menu picture so maybe the description is wrong. Fried chicken with tom yum sauce came with 6 pieces. Very juicy. We also enjoyed the herbal roasted prime steak with sausage rice. The delicious rice had the taste of fish sauce. Most of the short rib slices were soft and a few were slightly chewy but overall decent quality. Some of the fattier pieces of meat were still attached to the bone.

The one without ice still came cold and was about $2.50 more in price. Both tasted similar and the one with ice wasn't diluted at all. Both were refreshing and we loved the flavor. It was very authentic and refreshing. Chicken noodle soup was amazing! I don't know about the 8 hour boiled chicken since it tasted like chicken breast broth and not bone broth but it was super delicious. The noodles were slimy and it was very comforting. No chili oil was provided on the table. The server spilled some broth on our table while carrying a hot bowl of soup. I recommend asking the servers to use a serving plate to bring over food to the customer's table. Spicy chicken with honey and potatoes- We've tried this dish at many different restaurants, mostly without potato chips and we didn't like it here. Some pieces of chicken were bland and others absorbed most flavors. The honey did not help the dish at all. There was no balance of flavors. I did not like the addition of packaged wavy potato chips into the dish. Dai style seafood- This dish was very disappointing. It was served cold which was the highlight of the dish but nothing tasted fresh. This dish took the most time to come out. The dressing tasted well made, it was sweet and savory but the seafood hadn't absorbed the dressing. There were mussels, clams, squid and calamari in it and the balance of flavors was out of proportion. Laksa shrimp fried rice- Good wok hey, chewy mushroom bits and little pineapple bits but shrimp was very hard to find. The addition of egg was nice. Fried chicken with tom yum sauce- Nicely fried very tiny pieces of chicken with 1 tsp of tangy sauce. Good dish. Nothing extraordinary. I would come back for the chicken noodle soup on a cold night!

I ordered the 50/50 plate with both poached and grilled chicken. The poached chicken was soft and paired really well with the ginger-scallion sauce. The grilled chicken, however, was quite dry. I also found the chicken rice less fragrant than what I'm used to and a little dry as well, although the soup was good. The portion also felt smaller than expected for the price. Overall, there were both pros and cons, but it's still worth trying. I'd likely come back for the convenience when I'm craving chicken and rice but don't want to travel too far.
