I visited on March 5, and saw Karen. I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted (see below). She argued with me, claiming that my hair "pulls red" (it doesn't-I have well water that has a heavy concentration of iron. I have since installed a filter to avoid this issue moving forward). I asked for platinum, icy blonde. After about 5-10 minutes of "explaining" why it wasn't a good idea (despite the fact that I've had it done 100 times before), she finally relented and said ok. $200+ later, my actual result is posted below. Finally-the cut and style. It was ok. Technically, it was exactly what I asked for, but she took off much more than I had asked her to, and my layers are chunky and choppy, making my hair appear much thinner at the ends than it actually is. If the color had just been a mistake, I would totally understand. But, she argued with me, told me I didn't know what I was doing, and proceeded to do what she thought was best. For the amount of money that I paid, that is totally unacceptable. See the pics. My hair came out DARKER than when I walked in. I'm very, very disappointed.

I asked for just trim but that she could add some very subtle layers. I ended up with very choppy uneven layers that are very much not blended . It will grow out but I certainly won't be back. The hairstylist was Jen Stone Maynard. I thought about asking her to fix it but she has already chopped off a lot more hair than I asked for and I didn't want my hair to end up even shorter. I'll probably have to just go somewhere else to correct the unevenness. She was very nice but just clearly didn't listen or maybe just doesn't have the experience/expertise to blend in layers

When I came to her I was mentally and emotionally drained but within the first few moments of being in presence I felt the most comfort. Alyssa is a natural born healer and her gift exudes out of her with her calm and peaceful tone, her thorough questions of concern during consultation, and her most healing touch. She provided me a safe space where I could wind down and let my problems melt away while she carried out the customized facial for 90 minutes. Alyssa had a great amount of product knowledge and had no problem explaining to me what the product was designed for, and how every person should receive a different recipe depending on what the clients concerns with the skin could be. I thought that was really cool and I even learned something. I am not a person who usually seeks out service that has to do with self pamper but now I know how much I truly needed it. I experienced a full package day here. . . 1.5 hour Massage, Ultimate Facial 1.5 hours, Manicure, Spa Pedicure, Shampoo & Blowdry, as well as Makeup Application. The icing on the cake? All free :) My mother and I won a spa package back on Mother's Day of last year through a radio station. Finally. . . we got around to using it. The prices listed in their brochure seem up to par (and something I will definitely be paying in the future as I will certainly be returning to indulge.) This being the first time I experienced any of these services (excluding the hair and makeup portions of the day) each staff member was quick to explain everything that would occur. It made me much more comfortable knowing what to expect. The spa services are located upstairs from the salon itself, away from the noise and excitement that comes with a new hairstyle. While the "extraction" portion of the facial is not something I'd soon look forward to again, the end result was something I'd pay for in a second. My face looked and felt so refreshed by the end, I couldn't believe it was my own! The Spa Pedicure was equally as relaxing. . . and who doesn't like a foot rub? With our scheduled time at the spa being 9am-4:30pm (holy crap!), we were able to order lunch from a catering service and were served plates of food during the pedicure. Yum :) Two staff members in particular made our day special, Amy and Sofia. That's the same with any place. It's all about the stylist. Anyway, since I've found Aurora, I use her all the time. She remembers me each time. We talk about her family. She asks questions about mine. I feel like I get the same experience as any other salon, but more than half the cost. I'm not proud. I found a great hairdresser that is affordable.
