The steak was so tender and flavorful - perfectly cubed into bite sized pieces. The red bell peppers added a subtle sweetness. Delish. I've never eaten bò lúc lắc with fried rice before and I'm afraid I've been missing out. The fried rice here is simple - a little buttery with an egg. It soaked up the lúc lắc sauce and added a little more decadence than your regular ole fried rice. Is it needed? No, but I sure welcomed it. We had dinner here on a Monday night. From 5 to 7 it's pretty quiet and then around 7 it started to get busier. We ordered Pho Tai (brisket pho), nem nuong (summer rolls) and the shaken beef style dish. The pho and rolls were good but the diced beef was not very good. The meat had a bad smell. The rice it came with was good though. I'll definitely be back for the pho and the summer rolls. I'm glad Cerritos has a place where the serve decent nem nuong. Service was okay, I agree that they never really came by to check on me but there weren't otherwise any major issues. I feel like it's about as much service as I expect at an Asian restaurant. The menu is quite large, and prices are very fair. I like that they had the option of a combo vermicelli, with shrimp, egg rolls, and choice of beef, pork, or chicken (I chose beef). The vermicelli came in a large "slanted" bowl and was tasty. I also ordered a side of pho broth, large size for $5, which was so big that I had to take some broth to-go. The broth was piping hot and super flavorful. Overall, the meal was better than I expected, and the decorations (fish tank, pond) plus quirky robots also added to the experience. My friend and I also got the spring rolls, they did not taste fresh at all, and had chicken in them? I could not eat it, I left it completely untouched. My friend had to force herself to eat her bowl, because she got the medium size. We had to say something, I asked the manager what he could do for me, and all he said was $10 off. My family really enjoys the pho and bun noodle dishes here at Blooming and have been coming here regularly for over 7 yrs. I even introduced my elderly parents to the pho here and they love it. It was my mom's bday last week so I got her a $50 gift card so she and my dad can get their pho fix on their own. Today my dad drove all the way here to buy them pho and tried using the gift card. The employee said there were no funds on the card. Even though he had the printout of the balance, they said it "didn't work". My mom just told me what happened so I took the "empty" card and brought it back. Ordinarily, not a huge deal, prolly a mistake or lack of knowledge on the staff's part, but the fact that it caused my very elderly parents stress and anxiety AND looked bad on me since this was a gift.
