The place was empty when we went around 3pm, yet it took just under 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. We placed our orders: *Thai Tea, no boba - apparently our server didn't put in the order, never checked on us, and therefore never arrived. *Vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and egg roll - Huge bowl of vermicelli with salad underneath, pork on top and a piping hot cha gio. The pork was so dry it was more like pork jerky, but not in a good way. It was very difficult to chew. No one ever checked on us, so we didn't have an opportunity to tell our server the meat had been overcooked to the point of inedible. That egg roll sure was good, though! *Pork and shrimp Spring roll - not bad at all, but there was precious little pork or shrimp inside. Mostly the cool vermicelli noodles. The peanut sauce was unlike any I've ever had at a Vietnamese place. It was a gloppy sauce with a tiny bit of crushed peanuts added. Usually it's like Thai satay sauce but this wasn't even close. Fortunately they had sriracha and hoisin sauce on the table. Tried to ask for check, but again, no one was paying any attention to us so I had to get up and ask for it. Remember, we were the *only* people eating at the time. We never felt like anyone cared that we were there or if we ever came back. No worries. I've never eaten bò lúc lắc with fried rice before and I'm afraid I've been missing out. The fried rice here is simple - a little buttery with an egg. We had dinner here on a Monday night. From 5 to 7 it's pretty quiet and then around 7 it started to get busier. We ordered Pho Tai (brisket pho), nem nuong (summer rolls) and the shaken beef style dish. The pho and rolls were good but the diced beef was not very good. The meat had a bad smell. The rice it came with was good though. I'll definitely be back for the pho and the summer rolls. I'm glad Cerritos has a place where the serve decent nem nuong. My family really enjoys the pho and bun noodle dishes here at Blooming and have been coming here regularly for over 7 yrs. I even introduced my elderly parents to the pho here and they love it. It was my mom's bday last week so I got her a $50 gift card so she and my dad can get their pho fix on their own. Today my dad drove all the way here to buy them pho and tried using the gift card. The employee said there were no funds on the card. Even though he had the printout of the balance, they said it "didn't work". My mom just told me what happened so I took the "empty" card and brought it back. Ordinarily, not a huge deal, prolly a mistake or lack of knowledge on the staff's part, but the fact that it caused my very elderly parents stress and anxiety AND looked bad on me since this was a gift.
