The stewed lion's head meatballs reminded me of my mama's TT_TT yum~ The spicy wonton filling is flavorful even on its own... I started scarfing them down before I realized i forgot to take pictures. The choose your own cold dishes were all delicious. Last not least, I'm excited to see millet porridge!! This tasty bowl of goodness helps with digestion, pH and just feels so good. This is a family run restaurant. Ive been coming here for years (maybe almost 10). Usually the dad is cooking in the back and the sons are waiting the tables. The place is a little run down but it doesnt really matter for me. The side dishes are very good. I usually like getting the pig ear and the peanuts. Sometimes when coming here around dinner time they have run out of the more popular ones. I know a lot of people come here just for the side dishes. As for their dishes, my favorite is the dandan noodles. I get it every time. Its not too spicy and has tons of meat under. Definitely a homey comforting feel when I eat it. The rice cakes are usually a little oily but theyre so good when dipped in the dandan noodle sauce. Good food but the style of some of their dishes that we usually order elsewhere was prepared a bit differently. The service was ok and there was a bit of a language barrier. Good thing that a lot of their dishes have pictures to be able to relate too. The one thing I liked about Szechwan Garden are the real exotic offerings that they have. Andrew Zimmern would be proud of me. To some it's disgusting, but I tried intestines in brown sauce, sliced pig ears, and pork tongue. We also ordered their mapo tofu and pork with dry bean curd. To me, everything tasted good. Also, since it's Szechwan style, it can be spicy for some. I would only go back to try some of the other bizarre exotic foods they offer. When I asked about the fish soup (which was fried fish on a plate and a bowl of noodles in soup) I received the lady made it a point to tell me I was wrong for not understanding the Chinese name for the dish. Somehow "boneless fish" describes fried fish, I should have known according to the lady. I had also asked about rice noodles and she didn't understand the word "rice", which seems puzzling considering rice is a common ingredient in the cuisine her establishment provides. I am extremely disappointed by the attitude of this lady. I will happily not recommend this dining establishment for this lady cares nothing but for herself and certainly not the customers. Also the main dish ordered seemed to be put together like it was something made at home and not a restaurant menu item. They have the best beef noodle soup in my area but their service was just subpar! The father was working in the kitchen when his teenager son managed the front. You can tell this young man didn't want to be there. He was playing on his phone continuously and every time he came over, whether it was taking order, delivering the food or giving me the bill, he would roll his eyes and respond with a very unpleasant attitude. I like their food but I expect the service to be at least cordial. Having a family member to help out can save money but for the sake of the business, it may be time for them to get hired help.
