I remember when I was a kid and my mother and I would dine at department store restaurants. I forget these old dinosaur restaurants still exist. I decided to eat at 59th and Lex because it was close to the Apple Store and I had to wait to get my phone fixed. What else do you do when you don't have a phone? You eat. So I wandered up to the third floor of Bloomingdale's and there it was 59th and Lex. It's kind of like you were stepping back in time. You can just imagine ladies dining there with their gloves on. What surprise me is the number of families that came through with young kids. It seemed as if this was a regular spot for them. As one girl said we'll take our regular table in the back. I don't know for some reason it just struck me as odd that these kids would die inside a store rather than the mall food court. The menu is limited. Mostly salad sandwiches and I believe they had two entrées along with some breakfast items for Mother's Day. I ordered the orange salmon salad. The salmon was a little dry, but the salad itself was excellent. And you could not ask for better service. The waiters were tripping over themselves to be helpful. The furniture was definitely something to be desired. I was not exactly comfortable. Plastic chairs and plastic tables. And uncomfortable benches. But I could see how they arrived at that decision. For the most part, this is a tradition, and an experience. People aren't just there for the food. I wish I could show you photos because my salad was beautiful. But unfortunately, I didn't have my phone so I wasn't able to take any. If you have time wander up to the third floor of Bloomingdale's and try it out. I think you'll enjoy it. read more

Had a lovely lunch with my mom after shopping at the mall and Bloomingdale's. Great service, ambiance and delicious food. I ordered a Chinese chicken salad that I enjoyed and my mom's sandwich was flavorful and perfectly made. A cold glass of iced tea for me and iced coffee for mom. I was there Friday and purchased 2 sandwiches to go, one chicken pesto and a chicken salad sandwich, the chicken salad one was tasteless, dry and the salad was not fresh it even had a little brown, I was extremely disappointed! I have eaten there many times and everything has always been fresh, not this time my sandwich was very disappointing, I would like for them to make it up to me, is not fair! Most Bloomingdale's location don't have a cafe and here is a good place to eat while shopping or you want to eat quality tuna sandwiches. Order: +Tuna sandwich= Quality tuna sandwich. It never comes out soggy or watery. I like it without the added mayonnaise. +Flagship Trio Platter= scoop of egg salad, chicken salad, and tuna salad. Pretty good! Only con is the salad ratio to the scoops is off. They need to put more salad because you run out of it with scoops still leftover. Maybe add some bread on the side? +Asian Chicken Salad= Big salad and the dressing is a delicious peanut sauce. I loved the cabbage and all the vegetables. The chicken was lukewarm but still good. I wish they put more chicken though as the ratio was off. Also, they didn't slice the chicken thoroughly as strings of chicken would still be attached. Service: Service was okay. We did have to ask several times for utensils. We also wanted the sandwich with no mayo but they messed up. In timely manner, we got the proper sandwich. Waiter refilled water glasses. Bloomingdales 59th & Lex Cafe is a cozy eatery with a modest menu. The staff were attentive, the food was generously portioned, and the price was what you'd expect for a restaurant inside of a department store. Virgil took great care of me and my experience was pleasant. As far as Ahi Tuna Poke Bowls are concerned, the fish was fresh, the veggies crisp, and the rice warm. I would order this bowl again, and I look forward to trying other items from their menu. read more

Disappointing experience, especially for this location where people choose to spend their hard earned money. Visited the place couple of weeks ago and fell in love with their nitro cold brew. Came back today for $11.00 glass of coffee, instead was served a glass filled with ice with a splash of nitro cold brew. I wanted to order another drink without ice, but Jose came to explain that the restaurant can't cancel the drink, even though I did not request the drink to be cancelled. I asked for another nitro cold brew with no ice, but Jose explained again that the manager, Eladio, forces the waiting staff to fill the glass full of ice even though they receive numerous complaints from clients, at which point I began to fill my Sunday coffee experience turned into a rip off. The person sitting next to me was shocked and asked me what I ordered, he thought I got alcohol over ice. For comparison, the photo is of the glass of water I requested "iced", the ice was filled 10%, but the water does not come cold, cold brew coffee however does. Now imagine, they brought me the same small glass 100% filled with ice, over the top. How much coffee do you think fit in there after they added oat milk and hazelnut syrup? Hour and a half later, another waiter, kind enough brought me a regular size glass of water, also ice filled only at the top, please stop coffee discrimination... Few questions for the manager, Eladio - Why did I pay for the glass of coffee when what I received is 3 sips coffee? It's disturbing that two weeks ago, when I purchased the same $11.00 nitro cold brew with not ice to go, this was an issue - so why is today different? Why do I not have the ability to order a glass of nitro cold brew without ice if I so choose? I was specifically told by Jose that nitro cold brew cannot be served without ice, they can do "easy" which is glass half of ice, really? Why can the glass of water be served with 10% of ice, but not nitro cold brew? Where can I view the guide to your serving proportions? read more

Yikes. I don't know what I expected exactly, but I'll tell you it wasn't hospital cafeteria food. First, for being an upscale department store I figured the restaurant would be in better shape. It looks like they put no effort into maintaining appearances. Second, the customer service is really non existent. A table that was sat after us (in a mostly empty restaurant) had their order taken, appetizers and main dish all come out way before us. Our drink order was forgotten, we never received refills, and no one came by our table after the food was served. They only stopped when I asked for the check. Third, the food. It looked like it was pulled from plastic bags and microwaved. Save yourself the trouble, this place is not worth it. read more

Dear Yelp: Having two review threads for one place is very confusing - there's one under this name and one under Bloomingdale's 59th and Lex - therefore a review that might be helpful to folks from the other thread doesn't show up here and vice versa. But enough about you. This showed up at Postmates today. I wanted something light and I ordered the wedge salad - sounded good - bacon, bleu cheese, candied walnuts, tomatoes, and ranch dressing. What could go wrong? Only one thing, really, and it went wrong, i.e. the ranch dressing. Let's start with the salad itself, though, which is why the four stars - it was fresh and very tasty and hit the spot just right. BUT - and it's a big BUT - you really ought to inform people prior to their ordering that the ranch dressing is in plastic packets and is not fresh - in fact, it's Ken's Dressing. I don't mind Ken's but their ranch doesn't even taste like ranch and is kind of gross. So, unless that changes, as nice as the salad was, I cannot return. read more

I've been a regular here for lunch for many years. I've posted glowing reviews, especially about the variety and quality of their soups. Not so anymore. Selection has declined as has quality. Their "chicken vegetable" has become their daily mainstay. There's almost no chicken, scant vegetables (mostly squash) and bland. Gone are the beef soup, bean soup, lentil etc. I complained several months ago and was told changes were on the way. Nothing yet. So, I'll be on hiatus for a while. The salmon Niçoise salad is good. 59th and Lex is located inside the Bloomingdales in the Westfield Sherman Oaks. I have been to 59th and Lex at least 5 times, however not one of my previous check-ins are showing anymore. I'm not quite sure why that is because I know I they were there before. Yes, the Westfield Sherman Oaks has other restaurants like 9021 Pho on the first floor of the mall or their Food Park on the second floor. 59th and Lex is on the third floor right when you get off the escalator inside Bloomies. They have lots of salads, sandwiches, and pasta dishes. They'll also serve you a basket a bread and butter if you would like. The service is usually pretty good too. I used to love this place - a quiet little oasis amidst the hustle bustle of shopping. I was there this past week and, based on that experience, I really don't care to return. We were promptly seated and our order was taken and sent to the kitchen as usual. Twenty minutes later we still hadn't been served. When we finally were served, the order was wrong and had to be redone, a process which also took longer than it should have, given the few customers there that day. It was all done graciously, but a restaurant is supposed to be about the food, and ours (once our order was corrected) was mediocre at best. What has happened to this place? Another Covid casualty perhaps, with competence out the door in search of one of the many better and unfilled positions elsewhere? Sad. read more

This place is amazing. I'm very glad that Bloomingdale's has a restaurant inside. The service was fantastic both times I had lunch. The servers were always energetic, upbeat, and excited about the menu. Be sure to arrive early because it was packed with customers every day. The Banana Frozen Yogurt (with almonds and whipped cream) is probably the best I've ever had. The Ultimate Grilled Cheese was a perfect portion that was very satisfying but not too heavy. The best seat in the house is the bar, where you can seated quickley and get what you need in a snap. Sean holds down the fort and is the nicest server in the restaurant. I recommend almost everything on the menu-especially the fourty carats frozen yogurt-with toppings galore. My topping of choice-almonds and honey on plain frozen yogurt. It's the best Anywhere!!!! I love and I'm addicted. The mall food court is aweful so save yourself some time and go to Bloomingdales 59th and Lex restaurant, located on the third floor. Amazing service: quick, friendly, and extremely nice staff! A lot of their stuff on the menu doesn't have garlic in it, and if it does, they are willing to make adjustments (very important to me, because I'm allergic to garlic). The salads are very tasty and very filling. The turkey burger is great, not dry whatsoever and not oily at all :D They have never messed up our orders, no matter how complicated they are and my parents love coming here for lunch/dinner, even if they're not going to shop. Quick lunch with my best friend while shopping. My first or second time eating here, can't remember, Lol. We had avocado toast as appetizers, and there was barely any avocado on them. Bland. En-trees were good, the sauvignon blanc, even better. I enjoyed the service as well. Whata diamond in the rough this place is. I love this joint. The service is good. The food is all around always on point. Everything that I've tried is honestly bangin. I usually hit this spot several times a month with the wifey and kiddo. We never leave disappointed. We usually order off the specials of the day menu since we love their soups. Usual hitters are the tomato soup, beef soup and a, chicken soups and basically all their soups. Soups change daily FYI. The Avocado egg salad wrap is bangin off the hinges with an audible of the tuna salad wrap. Pot Roast is another banger. Crab cake wrap is another banger of the hinges. This is seriously one of my favorite places to eat period. Make sure to get the ice tea. Also, kids menu portions are very generous. Love this spot. read more

With most mall food places, you usually expect so-so food or the crappy ones where the only places they are at are in the mall. This restaurant is more like a cafe at the 3rd floor. The service was good and attentive. The food was just as good and when I saw other people's food, it looked real good too. Their lemon vinegarette was a real tasty dressing and I would so be back to have another taste of their salad. Great lunch option in Sherman Oaks that people usually forget about because it's in the Fashion Square Mall, on the top floor of Bloomingdales. Service is always friendly, and good.
