I have passed by this location at least 100 times and haven't noticed it. It is tucked in at the corner in a plaza on Ventura blvd/ and Laurel Canyon. It's 2 stories with outdoor and underground parking shared with so many other businesses. Since I was STARVING being at the doctor's office for over an hour, I couldn't wait any longer to have some food in my stomach. Walked in yesterday mid evening around 4:50pm and it took a minute for someone to acknowledge me until I asked "is anyone working here"? Got Ulices's attention and he came to take my order. He was very thorough and kind. Gave me a breakdown of their menu options and the decision was mine. Before I forget, their food is made gluten free and is very healthy. They have many options to choose from. So I went along with BYOB. Moving forward with my order and service. Got their large bowl (only one size) with lots of fresh ingredients: Edamame, Pickled Ginger, Shimeji Mushrooms, Cucumber, Cilantro, Bean Sprouts, Chopped Kale, and wanted something sweet, and asked him to give me nice chunks of Mango. For my base, I got the Sushi white rice, and for my 2 proteins, got Pole-Caught Albacore and Poached Shrimp. I asked for the sauces to be on the side. Ponzu Lime and Spicy Mayo which was not that spicy. I loved that. It gave a good kick to it. He didn't skimp on the food and filled it up to the brim. Food was above and beyond my expectations. Was very filling, fresh and DELICIOUS!!!! Place was small, yet very clean and cozy, with fine music playing overhead. They also had patio seating with few chairs and tables. For all this I paid $18.22 including tax, minus the tip. They have many other menu options and it's pretty vast. Prices vary depending on what you get.. They also have several locations. To go orders, 3rd party orders, catering and inside dining.. Can't wait to return. They don't have public restroom..which they SHOULD! One last thing. Please add Avocado & Corn to your ingredients. I love a good poke bowl, and I eat it pretty often. SweetFin in Studio City is definitely a solid option -- the fish tastes fresh, the toppings are great, and I'm obsessed with their taro chips (honestly my favorite part, I've even come in just to buy a bag). Overall, the food itself is good. However, my experience with the service has been hit-or-miss. On my last visit, the person taking orders wasn't very warm and directed me to the kiosk even though he wasn't busy -- which is fine, but I'm someone who prefers ordering with a person. A couple came in right after me and he took their order immediately with a completely different energy. Not rude, just not welcoming. When my bowl was made, the sauce was extremely light, and asking for extra felt like pulling teeth. One of the other staff members stepped in and helped, but it still left me feeling like I was inconveniencing them. My other hesitation is the price-to-portion ratio. The bowl is tasty, but for what ends up being just under $30 after adding taro chips and extras, I often feel like I'm getting more rice and toppings than actual fish. Because of that, I sometimes choose other poke spots that give a bit more value. That said, I do live nearby and I will be back -- the freshness and toppings are dependable, and poke is one of my go-to meals as a chef who's always on the move. Food: 3/5 - the poke is descent. I feel like it's less fish than other places per serving. My issue is several times (usually later in the evening) they have been out of white sushi rice. Which is wild because rice is a staple of poke. I also haven't really found a sauce there that I like. It feels pricey for what it is. But it does taste fresh. Service: 4/5 generally fine. The man who seems to be the manager is nice. Usually one person working there but they're fast Ambiance 3/5 the biggest thing they have going for them is they're next to the gym I work out at. So if I'm in the mood for a post workout poke. They're right there. It's a simple in and out location. Minimal seating. Not intended for hanging out. Few outdoor seats too. I really wanted to like this place, but the experience at Sweet Finn and was honestly uncomfortable from the moment I walked in. The staff came off super unwelcoming and immediately rushed me to order, even though it was my first time and I was just trying to look at the menu. What made it worse was the attitude--if you're not ready to buy something right away (or decide not to get anything), you can definitely feel the shift. It felt more like pressure than hospitality, which is the opposite of what you expect walking into a dessert spot. On top of that, no one was helpful in explaining anything or making recommendations. For a place that charges premium prices, you'd think the service and overall experience would match--but it really doesn't. The quality just didn't justify the cost. I'm not sure exactly what it is but this location smells horrible every time I've been there. and it doesn't appear that clean either which is concerning for any food establishment let alone a poke place. Today I got the mango bowl with a very small portion of mangos over a small portion of cauliflower rice and kelp noodle salad. The salad was good and the bowl overall was OK but for the price ($16.50), it didn't seem worth they compared to local poke places (like 8oz Poke my fave) where for $20 you get way more fish and way more toppings. I've seen Sweetfin there so many times and not stopped in, but after the No Kings march in March, I was starving and it was close. I can't believe I waited so long!!! I love me some premium, fresh poke bowls. :) The forbidden/black rice and bamboo rice are my bases of choice. I find the bamboo rice really soaks in all of the sauces and toppings so well. For protein, I am open to salmon, tuna, albacore or sweet potato. Portions seem to be generous. There's a good of unusual ingredients like pepitas, mango and jicama, which I love about Sweetfin. I'm honestly very sad to give this place 2 stars because I do really love Sweetfin and I have been a customer for years. I used to order at least once a week from another location and they were always consistent and they got my order right every time. Whether I ordered for delivery, pickup, or ordered there, it was always correct. When this location opened, it became the closest to my home, but somehow they mess up my order every time. I'm the type of person if my order is messed up or a place doesn't have all the ingredients to my "usual" order, I can't eat it, the meal will be ruined if it's not the way I always order it. This location has messed up my order enough times that I'm sad to say I will never come back here. I will continue going to other locations and pray I don't go through the same experience, but this location has ruined all chances. This location has messed up my order 3 times: 1 - I ordered for pick up and I noticed after I picked it up that there was one out of my six toppings missing, so luckily before I drove off, I was able to come back inside, and they added that missing topping. 2 - I ordered through the app for delivery and I got two bowls. When the bowls were delivered, we realize they messed up both bowls. There was so much wrong with it. I can't even explain everything on text here but it was to the point that I had to email them to let them know the situation. I was pleasantly surprised with how generous they were, and they immediately refunded the order. Because of that, I did go ahead and give them one more chance which leads me to the last incident. 3 - this last time, my friend ordered for the both of us in her app for delivery. I did my usual order which contains 3 different mixed in sauces. When the order arrived, my fish was completely bare, there wasn't a single sauce on my poke bowl. It was insane!!! I tried to eat it, but who could eat a poke bowl without any sauce or dressing on there?! I'm sure I am not the only person who experiences this, it's frustrating to throw away money and to ruin a meal. I like a Sweetfin in Burbank so much, I decided to order at their a studio City location, since it's closer to me. Bowls were ok, but I've been there a few times now and it hasn't gotten better. I broke a cardinal rule and ordered delivery, big mistake. Never order raw fish to be delivered. Plus, the driver got lost and bowls were less than fresh. That is partly my fault for ordering and not eating there but the nighttime at that location is not fantastic, a bit isolated, next to an ups store. Location is not great.
