Came back, as promised! This time on a Thursday mid-day. We found parking on a side street and there were ample tables available for us outside under their lovely awning & umbrellas. Even tho this is on a busy street, it's a nice space to be outdoors in. This time we weren't right under a speaker and the music was a nice volume. We ordered a latte and a black forest mocha. The mocha was too sweet for our tastes so we'd order that half sweet next time. Both were decent coffees, but nothing special or particularly nice. Almost no foam on either. We ordered the Country Breakfast from the regular menu and the Country Breakfast Benedict Special from the specials of the day sheet. Both came with scrambled cheesy eggs, which were delicious. The potatoes were great (we added some salt) and the biscuits were actually quite nice. It's hard to find a decent biscuit. These were the more bready kind (like kfc), but a good rendition of them. Good flavor, good texture, moist. I bet they'd be real nice soaked in butter! The gravy on the Country Breakfast was nice, even for me a person who doesn't normally care for sausage. The eggs were a lovely soft scrambled, great texture and really nice flavor. I would order both of these dishes again. Service was really friendly and they checked in on us frequently. We were in somewhat of a hurry and they graciously accommodated our requests and helped us pay for the bill early in the meal to facilitate our plans. The staff rushed to get the rain canopies down and moved us over to where it was not affected by the rain. They replaced my coffee since the rain got into it. Went on a Sunday around noon and it was definitely about a 30 min wait. It was a little odd because there was two tables available outside the whole time we were waiting and no one was being sat there the whole time we waited . Once we got seated, we got sat in one of those exact tables. Anyway, we ordered : Steak and eggs with country potatoes Steak was delicious , potatoes were def mushy and not crispy at all. Sourdough was nice and toasty. Waiter only came by once towards the end of our meal to check if we needed anything and he def looked like he didn't wanna be there . Our server paid very close attention to us, making sure coffees and soft drinks were refreshed as many times as necessary, and making good suggestions to folks navigating the eclectic menu for the first time. I chose Grits & Links: creamy, cheesy grits studded with nickel-sized circles of Louisiana sausage that packed just a touch of heat but plenty of Cajun flavor. While the grits could have used a bit more salt, the dish was hearty and quite generous, and I found it very satisfying. One friend ordered up the Apple Pancake, a single, 12-inch disc built from artisan batter and fresh-sliced, caramelized apples. I didn't taste, but the aroma of Fall ingredients made me want to steal my neighbor's food. Another opted for the Breakfast Lavash, a cross between a burrito and a panini, sporting Scrambled eggs, tomato, green onions, mushrooms and Feta cheese, wrapped in lavash bread and pressed till crisp; his wife ordered an impressively crisp waffle topped with assorted fresh berries so colorful I considered offering a cup of grits in exchange. This was my family's last food stop before hitting the road back home from our Universal Studios trip. We sat on the patio, which was a little loud from street noise, but we got used to it after a while. Jumpin Java has a loaded menu covering breakfast, brunch, and lunch options. We were on breakfast mission and I ordered the eggs florentine with side a sausage, my wife the ordered eggs benedict, and my kids shared a massive chocolate chip pancake, bacon, and fruit. My breakfast was delicious with the eggs poached perfectly! That perfect mix of a runny, but firm yolk. The sautéed spinach was still had a crunch and I asked for a raw tomato slice instead of the grilled tomato. All of this paired with the hollandaise, made for the perfect bite. My wife said the same thing about her eggs benedict, stating the hollandaise was so smooth it was almost drinkable, LOL. My kids loved their chocolate chip and I did in fact have a bite and it was very good. The service here was on point and we were checked on many times throughout our meal. From what I saw there's only metered street parking available. If you don't want to din-in, they do offer pickup and delivery options. Honestly I have came to eat at this restaurant multiple times a week because they have so many options to choose from and the quality of the food is actually good. They been open for 30+ years and I love trying new menu items. I love that they have poached eggs as an option for egg style and I think its unique that they use French bread for the French toast -- the fruit is always really fresh and the service is always 5 stars. Everyone on their staff is very kind and helpful and they all work efficiently as a team. The restaurant itself has both outside and inside seating and it's a big establishment but there is enough space between tables etc. I would recommend this place for a late breakfast or even a nice lunch. read more

My staple order is the breakfast combo: egg whites, chicken apple sausage, turkey bacon extra crispy always on point. My daughter tried the capers with chicken. I have been to Jumpin Java several years ago. It was time to return. Yesterday,my friend and I went to this cute, quaint restaurant for late breakfast, early lunch. We were both very hungry and couldn't wait to taste couple of their dishes. The owner Sona, invited us in and Mike came to take our order. He was very nice, personable, helpful, and knew his job pretty well. Told us few of their menu options, and the ball was in our court. It was easy to place our order, and the food came out nice and HOT. Didn't take too long. We shared 2 entrees. Got their Mediteranian Omelette, which came with: marinated sun-dried tomatoes, fresh basil, Kalamata olives, garlic, & grilled eggplant accompanied with a side of fruit. They didn't charge for the fruit. Also, got Artichoke Chicken Press sandwich: Fresh grilled chicken breast, artichoke & tomato spread, arugula, Provolone cheese, pressed on Ciabatta bread with French Fries. I also ordered (2) English Muffins. Food was out of this world! Hands down delicious, fresh and hot. I also got Pumpkin Spice decaf latte. Restaurant was nicely themed, & decorated for the Holidays. Genre of music was Christmas music, & some fine Jazz/blues. I know, an awkward combo, but they knew what they were doing. Place was clean, with a nice, standard size patio, parking was in the back, and the restroom was also very clean, with cute decors everywhere and a small window in the restroom. They close at 4pm. First time back here in almost 10 years! I stopped by with my friend for brunch after hiking at Fryman. Parking on a Sunday is almost impossible to find, but thankfully they had a few spots available at the lot in the back. We were seated right away. After we were seated it took the longest time for anyone to even come over to our table. We never got water or even silverware. When the waitress finally came over we ordered our food and drinks. Visited here on a whim when looking for a casual weekend brunch spot last-minute & adored this place (thank you Yelp!). Parking was pretty easy to find on the street - we only had to park 1 block away on Ventura Blvd. Upon walking up, we only had to wait 5-10 minutes until a table opened up, and this was on a Sunday around 12:15pm when many places have 1-hour wait times. The seating is relatively small and they have outdoor tables, which we needed since we had our dog with us. Zero complaints about the service - it was straightforward and very pleasant. We were hungry and just wanted simple breakfast basics, no frills needed, so we ordered very standard items including bacon, scrambled eggs, and pancakes, but we also had the French toast which was different from other places, as it seemed to be thick baguette slices, sliced on the bias (diagonally). It wasn't very heavy or overly eggy like a lot of French toast can be, so it was easy to finish and very yummy. Definitely scratched the French toast itch I had. We also had iced coffee drinks that were excellent and refreshing on the hot day that we were there. Our waitress was extremely nice (wish we got her name) and was very attentive to us when it came to taking our orders and checking in afterwards. She recommended the Pancake Burrito and omg this thing was HUGE! I could barely get through one of them and had to take the rest to go. I added sausage to it, but honestly it would have been just fine without it. Another thing I loved about our waitress is that I told her to take my card instead of bf's for payment because it was his birthday. a friend recommended this spot to me some time back. and i've been there several times since. it is tucked into a very busy strip on ventura blvd. but if you are lucky to arrive on a sunday morning before everyone else finds their way there, you can snag a decent parking spot and get seated right away. the owner is usually there. and she is very attentive and pleasant. the food quality is just wonderful. and i am so pleased that they offer eggs benedict. not easy to find on a menu these days. and the sauce has to be just light enough to not overpower and complement the dish instead. jumpin' java does this well. and their waffles = if you want to indulge in some really yummy stuff, get a waffle. i've only tried the basic waffle with no frills...it is AWESOME. this is a really reliable eatery. i'm confident that you will feel the same way too! read more
