After my experiences with Bloomingdale's in Manhattan, I was rudely disappointed by the employees in this store. Nobody offered to help me find what I wanted, and when I asked for directions to that particular department, I was answered with disdain. Eye contact, in general, was avoided. I got to the desired department and it was a terrible mess--sizes and styles all mixed up. The associate in the adjacent department was a bit more cheerful, but made a comment that the item I was looking was not as "trendy" as the store's usual fare. That was a fail if she was trying to be charming. My money is just as valid as the next person's. If all customers cannot be treated with courtesy, I'll stay with Nordstrom, thanks. read more

I haven't been to an upscale Bloomingdale's in a very LONG time. My eyes widened, my designing inspiration was hit right on the head and I was open to beautifying ME all over again! The doors opened (as if I was meant to stumble upon this place long ago), I was gently released (as if stepping off of a cloud) into the world of fashion....and I had to stop myself from trying to overbuy that gloomy afternoon while it poured rain all over the city. The last time I went to this building, it was a run down department store that people parked at for the free parking validation & walked across the street to Saks......not this time. This Bloomingdale's is like the lucky fortunate sister that the ugly sister loathes. Tricking me into thinking that I can afford her when I'm just a boy from the hood with big dreams. read more

As bad as one can possibility imagine. All they care about is to cheat money out of the customers. They asked me to sign up for their credit card, but they never send me the credit card. Then they charge me late fee. Excuse me, if you never send me the card, how could I pay for the card? read more

I stopped by Bloomindale's this morning to look for a professional suit for a job interview I have coming up in a week. I was helped by Glenn, who was also recommended in another Yelp review, and Glenn was really great. He was really helpful, experienced, and really worked with me to make sure I was completely happy with my purchase. I think Glenn should be the manager of that store! He also took the time to let me know what suits were on sale, and even offered to help me find a matching shirt and tie. Great store, great service! read more

Dropping this location down to two stars, thanks to the crappy service I experienced today. Between being looked up and down for my non-stylish, not brand-name attire (it's 100 out, for Christ's sake!) and being scoffed at for daring to ask if they would match a sales price on their website, I'm pretty sure I never want to shop in this store again. I happily go to this store when I need something nice. I typically frequent the home and housewares section -- mattresses, pillows, sheets, blankets, etc. I've bought everything here and the quality is great. Wait for a home sale and you get a great price. The service is also fantastic. read more

This store has the worst customer service ever in every departments. I went on a non-busy time, and there was no one there to help me getting the right size of shoes. Then I went to the second floor, saw a pair of jeans and ready to pay. I waited for 10 minute at the counter, but no one was around - people kept telling to wait and someone would come to help me. I finally made it over to Bloomingdale's. Normally, I would never gush over a department store, but this is such a pretty shiny Bloomie's. It is immaculate! Also, even though my two friends and I were just wandering around taking it all in and didn't really buy anything, each salesperson in each department we wandered through was super friendly and helpful without being pushy or over-solicitous or judgmental. The Nescafe espresso boutique was awesome and the lovely salesperson made us big double shots of espresso complete with a square of creamy dark chocolate on the side. I didn't want to leave. I used to shop at Bloomingdale's in NYC a lot but it was always kind of a chore. Not in Friendship Heights! read more

This is a decent Bloomies location. The one that was in White Flint was just pathetic and bad. This store is newer and seems to have much more "umph" that the other store. I had very good service at the Keihls counter and was happy with my purchase. Over all Bloomingdales is not the same as it was in the 60's and 1970's because I guess it's owned by a different corporation. It was better back then but this one is not bad. read more

First off, let's clarify one thing: I work for a non-profit, and generally have no business shopping at Bloomingdale's. But I had a gift card, so I made the trip thinking that for my $100 I might be able to get a t-shirt or two...and then I discovered the sale racks. Maybe it was just my timing--seems they're trying to get rid of all the summer inventory--but I found great deals on some fabulous items. My favorite was the Theory dress I got for about $200 of the original price. My mistake was to also try on the non-sale clothing, and of course I fell in love with a $300 Tahari top that I had no choice but to leave behind. Heartbreaking. But seriously, check out the sale racks--you can get great deals on quality items! read more

I'm a bit of a shopaholic, so walking into this Bloomies made my heart start to palpitate. The first floor is just stunning and enough to make me want to spontaneously burst into song and dance. I don't know why that was my first reaction but, yeah, nearly went all Gene Kelly up in there. Anyway, if I was a size 4/6/8, I would adore this store. They have a great selection of designers and happened, at my visit, to have 4, well-stocked, racks of clothes at 65% off. Alas, however, I am a nice shapely 14, sometimes 16, and it is TOUGH to find clothes that fit me here. I was able to find some nice blousey shirts from DKNY that I could get over my boobs, but everything else that I tried on was definitely not made for me. And their "woman's" section, as all tend to be, was awful (can someone puh-lease pick up Elena Miro's line for the love of Mike?). But I won't rant on that sorry state of affairs in this review. Shoe selection wasn't great, but we're between seasons so I gave that a pass. Costume jewelry was also lacking a bit, but I have Nordstroms at Pentagon City staked out for costume jewelry anyway. I stayed far away from the makeup counters as I have an addiction, but they looked great. What is making me give me this Bloomies 4 stars is the SALES. Ladies, end of season sales here are ridiculous! I must brag that I bought an $800 Zac Posen clutch for, wait for it, $88. Yep, frigging $88. And no, there was nothing wrong with it. It's like Last Chance, except without the crowds and with the stock. Amazing. read more

Ugh! I love Bloomie's... I do. But this store is just *terrible*! Whoever is the shopper for the men's department needs to be instructed that there are more colors in the rainbow than white, black and grey. The selection is sooo conservative! It's a real shame, because I was really looking forward to them finally opening up a shop in the area. I've shopped and loved Bloomie's for over 50 years in NYC, Willow Grove, Tyson's, White Flint, and Chevy Chase - still have my original 1969 charge card. The last store is my least preferred. I'm still mourning the loss of White Flint, almost my "home-away-from-home" for 15 years, so perhaps my judgement is clouded. But, except for the cosmetics staff, I still don't feel comfortable here. Yes, the store is beautifully arranged, and the sales staff are generally helpful. However, compared to most of the other locations, the merchandising selection is more limited, esp in home goods; the staff turnover is greater, so I haven't been able to "bond" with someone who learns my style and preferences; and the management staff seem more removed from what happens on the floor. One last caveat: the parking validation extolled by the store and other reviewers is misleading. They only validate for a VERY limited time, and the customer must pay the balance. During a lengthy and costly ($600+) shopping excursion there, I still had to pay $15 for the privilege! When I protested, I was told that next time I should leave before the validation expired, drive around the block, and return to the store for the next round!! Yeah, right. read more

This review is only for the customer service at the men's section. We use to shop at bloomingdale's online for the ease of use. Me and my spouse went there on the morning of black friday to do a return of item we've purchased online, and also to look for men's coat. The service was unpleasant. There is only 1 customer ahead of us having completed her transaction with the cashier but the man behind the cashier was very slow that after a 20 min of wait we check to another cashier that.. rejects us, telling he is dealing with other customer but in an unfriendly manner of tone. After finish returning our items, we decided that there's no need to continue looking at the site and move to nordstrom that is nearby. Too bad cause bloomingdale have a good selections for men but note to self, i'll check nordstrom first and if i have to shop at bloomingdale's men section i'd rather go online. read more

The jewelry sales clerks are only concerned about their commissions, not actually helping. I went in to buy a Roberto coin diamond necklace. I was told because it was over $1,000, I qualified for a special they were running - 250 dollars off another purchase. While at a store like Bloomingdale's who would think to second guess the associate or ask to see the promo? I decided to buy matching diamond earrings, spending almost double the amount of money than I initially came in to spend. They were supposed to mail it to me within a week. While I was waiting the following week, I went online to look what else they had. Only to see the special was either $250 off your next purchase, OR $250 off your initial purchase. The sales associate completely ripped me off for an additional commission. I called Bloomingdale's, and the woman pretended to have no idea what I was talking about. She said I could return the earrings, but I would lose the $250 completely. A TOTAL RIP OFF. I would never buy jewelry here again. read more

I have to say the sales clerks in the home section and men's section are always really nice and helpful. I like their selection of housewares, and I really like their men's clothes. However, I encountered one sales clerk on June 5, 2021 that was truly off putting when I was looking at handbags with my mother. The store was quite busy, which is understandable for a Saturday. We were browsing handbags, and the sales clerk approached us and asked if we needed help. About 2 seconds later, she was interrupted by some woman who was a plastic surgeon's dream asking about parking validation. Sales Clerk Sally (I don't know her actual name) turned her back to us, helped this woman, and then walked away. Never came back. So unbelievably rude. After helping this older woman, she went right to the register to ring out other people she must've felt were wealthy enough for her to acknowledge. Pardon me, Sales Clerk Sally. I don't think I should need to flash my Givenchy wallet and car keys to get attention at my neighborhood department store. Perhaps some training on bias would go a long way to help. read more

If I could give no stars to Bloomingdales at this location-I would have, but oh well. May not say anything new, but this place not worth checking it out even for minute. The customer service is so bad that you may start seriously questioning their management that is clearly very poor if after that many of bad reviews they still haven't changed anything. Would give 5 except the shoe department experience, towards the end (almost knocked 3 stars off) I visit this Bloomingdale's every time I come home for the Holidays. I am always impressed at how amazing the staff here are. I dealt mostly at the Jo Malone counter, where Dawn, a fantastic saleswoman, full of energy & knowledge remembered my mom. She also remembered me, and not only was she top notch at her job, but she cared for customers. I went over to Clarins, to find new products, where Farah helped me and has changed the life of skincare for me. Renie is the Clarins BA and she was knowledgeable, energetic, and great. Cosmetics is a good place here. I set over to the shoe department and was looking at son knee high boots. My calves are larger than most as I am an athlete, and he came over to me and as I was saying "Could I ..." he blurted out, "Those wouldn't even zip up half way on you" I didn't say anything back, just kept looking and picked up another pair, I hear "only short boots, you can't fit tall boots around those legs" I was sincerely offended and I wish I had caught his name, as if he continues saying that to women, whether it's weight or muscle, it's not ok. Otherwise, Farah, Dawn, Renie. You will love them all, also, they all give you the best service one on one, being rude- gets nowhere as a customer. We're all human and we all have to wait! read more

THE WORST SERVICE ON THE JUNIOR'S FLOOR (2nd floor) ABSOLUTE WORST!!! Every time I go there the staff are rude, snobby, entitled, judgmental and are in general FULL OF THEMSELVES. They are unhelpful and treat customers poorly, as if you are a bother or as if they are doing you a pity favor by having to help you around. In general, the whole department store is full of staff that are unhelpful and are prone to ignore you if they profile you as a person who would not buy something (aka a minority, or you look frumpy, etc.) I'm a minority and I get poor service in general at that store, but the WORST floor has got to be the 2nd one...every single visit gets me fuming at how rude people can be sometimes! Now, I know I am coming at this from a minority, as I labelled myself as that and that complaint may be unfair, as I don't know what it's like to shop at this store otherwise. All I know is that when I came in here with my white friend and we were both dressed to the nines, we got better service. Not THAT much better, but at least better. The only saving grace of this branch? Nespresso. The Nespresso Boutique is great and the staff have always been friendly and accommodating. read more

The sales people were down-to-earth and neither too friendly nor too stand-offish, the store has a great selection, and there is generally a good atmosphere. This review pertains to the wedding registry at Bloomindale's. Things may be ordered under a specific registry and the gift ordered does not get shipped to the couple, it is not gift wrapped, and the gift comes to the gift giver's home. The worst part is that the order is not deducted from their registry so it appears they still need a certain number when in fact, they have been fulfilled on their registry. I was disappointed when it arrived at my house and not gift wrapped. I was equally disappointed when I checked their gift registry, and it did not reflect my purchase. read more

I was in search of a suit for a wedding in January, I had been treated very poorly at other department stores because I was a woman searching for mens clothes. I happened to go into Bloomingdales on a whim and that ended up being the best choice I could have made. My salesperson in the men's department, Giovanni was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, patient and seemed to really care about making me look my best. He had a great eye for fitting suits to people and I ended up buying the second suit that he had me try on. The tailor that saw me at Bloomingdales was also excellent but I cannot remember his name. Gio, called him "Maestro" so that is what I will refer to him as. The Maestro was very skilled and listened carefully to what I wanted and made suggestions about what would work best. I'll end up going to this Bloomindales for the rest of my suiting needs. read more

In my opinion there is no comparison to the two stores. This particular Bloomies is far inferior to Tyson's in about every way including staff knowledge and training. I live close to this location but go to Tysons to shop. Tyson's has tons more stock, nicer and more helpful staff and by the way, the Chevy Chase store does not even have a belt department but their staff doesn't know it and I was sent looking for a belt to go with a skirt I wanted to buy (staff did not offer to help go downstairs with me) to find no department existed. Department store staff in general has changed dramatically over the past several years- does anyone get trained to say "thank you" to a customer who just spent $1000? The Tysons corner staff is not much better with the "thank yous" either but was way more patient and eager to help me. read more

For men's clothes, if you can afford it, this is the place to go. The service is exceptional. You walk in, you say, for example, I need grey slacks and want a modern cut. Then you wait. They bring you multiple options till your happy and then you buy it. It rocks. This is the first year of my life that I can afford to shop here and even now only sparingly, but it is great. read more

I had a terrific experience last week. I needed a pair of shoes for an upcoming wedding but will be honest, I do not have the typical bloomingdale's customer take home pay.. I was in that neighborhood so thought I would give it a try. My reaction is mixed. One woman in the shoe department was on her phone, and another was working in the backroom but came out to help me. He seemed to be embarrassed by her not acknowledging me but was really cordial and helped me. He was very patient and worked with me because I have some arch problems. It was great! The best bedding in the city. My family lives in DC and NYC. I love to shop here because the salespeople are very attentive. I was very rudely treated at Abrielle when I asked them if I could order a French bedding company I saw in the store but didn't stop and buy because I was too busy. Frankly, skip the snotty salespeople at Abrielle and run to Bloomingdale's. The entire experience at the Bloomingdale's store was light years different. This is a beautiful store in an easy-to-get-to location right across Wisconsin from the Friendship Heights "Wisconsin/Western Ave" metro exit/entrance. I have always had very good experiences shopping here with the employees being professional friendly and attentive but not intrusive. I have only shopped women's clothing, cosmetics and perfumes and my husband was impressed by the associates in men's suits and shoes. We both like the sales people in table top and housewares - very friendly and knowledgeable. We're savvy shoppers and only purchase items when there's a big sale, or a special beauty event. If we paid regular price or just 20% off - we'd never shop here. I think that 's a fairly well rounded experience of shopping at this location. I don't know if I agree that the Tyson's Corner Bloomie's has better staff or management, I've not shopped there enough to know. However, there is a certain something which is nicer at the Virginia location, maybe it's bigger or less antiseptic? In any event, I do love the Friendship Heights/ Chevy Chase Bloomie's it's a gorgeous store and all the salespeople we've dealt with have been very helpful respectful and pleasant. (Not something I've ever experienced at Neiman Marcus right across the way.) It's kind of unfair that I've deducted a star solely because it's not Bloomingdale's NYC - that's the very best store and will never be duplicated. read more
