Would give zero stars if I could. My boyfriend and I went to get perfume and cologne. The security in the men's section where no one was working the cologne stand I guess, said we couldn't touch anything. Not even getting someone who works there to help us. So we leave to the perfume section where there was people working and the security follows us. I am 28 years old and have a better job this security guard and so does my boyfriend 30 years old. Came here to buy a gift for my friend's baby shower. The associate couldn't have been nicer. When I asked for a gift box I was instructed to go downstairs to customer service. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, customer service is closed so I was sent upstairs to the online pick up area where I was again told that the store has no boxes. Now forgive me for being presumptuous but I have to assume that everyone shopping at Bloomingdales isn't doing so only for themselves. And these same people who are paying very good money probably want to put these gifts in boxes. Anyway, back to our story. We have been coming here for years and while we were sad that Mark (the manager who worked here) left, we were very happy to have a cheerful and upbeat server today. Bloomie's famous froyo is always the best, and we always get coffee and plain with Oreos. They now have to-go frozen yogurt that's easier to transport home given it's already frozen harder. I like the concept of a host sales associate greeting you and escorting you to a department of your choice and salesperson. I noticed this occurred only in the home department on the lower level. On the second level, I noticed sales associates are scarce in women's wear (a weekend too!). (Somehow, I think the layout of this department needs to be better organized because I can never figure out a designer's location). However, there's always plenty sales associates in the shoe department (which is great). On a recent visit, I met specialists Susan in the mattress and Katherine in bedding department. Bloomingdales is my favorite store and Short Hills is my favorite location (and closest to my house). So needless to say, I like it alot here. The selection of clothing is absolutely massive. My favorite level is the second floor and I almost always find myself in the contemporary selection where you can find collections like sunset & summer and aqua, which is their in-house brand. They almost always have amazing sales and loads of sale racks, and it's not rare to stop in and find out that sale is an additional discount off of the lowest price. People hear Bloomingdales and think it's ultra pricey, but I often walk away having spent less than I would have for much cheaper clothes at a shop like Express or H&M. Especially with Aqua brand clothing. Everything is always super trendy, and you can count on them to have the latest style that you are looking for. I'm also a big fan of the huge dress section on the third floor. I've needed a ton of dresses lately for weddings and I know I'lll find one in ten minutes if I come here. Otherwise, I could spend several shopping trips trying to find the perfect dress. This location also has extremely friendly staff. Whether you just need help finding something, or are looking to do an item lookup or return or exchange - they are always very friendly and courteous. I've been to my fair share of Bloomingdales throughout NYC and NJ, and I've got to say that Short Hills Bloomies takes the cake as the best. Selection, sales and customer service is top-notch. I'm not a fan of their escalator layout (it should be smooth flow but instead you have to double-back in order to go up to each level); and despite the receipt saying you can return items to any counter, they direct you to the right department. That being said, the lady (associate 72000101, I didn't get a name) up at the women's seasonal department where I was returning a women's jacket to was both super friendly and very efficient. This store is great because they always got events and really good offers on their beauty products. They also organize a few runway events with delicious snacks and drinks. Don't forget to sign up for their loyalist reward card you get always get extra points and on your purchases without worrying about getting a store credit card. Plus they always send you invitations on your emails for upcoming events. I Love their Dior department the sale representatives are very kind and they always go the extra mile to help you. Do you want to get paid to chat with your friends while you blatantly ignore customers? Bloomingdales cosmetics dep has got the job for you! I came here with my 2 year old son at 12 noon on a Tuesday. There were way more employees than customers- very few customers at all. All I wanted was one item from NARS, I knew exactly the name of the shade but unfortunately need an employee to access it, as only testers are on display and the products are locked away. I just happened to approach as another customer was at the display as well. The poor woman was trying to no avail to get a salespersons attention. Mind you, there were 3 Bloomingdales employees within 20 feet from us, right within our line of vision, but they decided their casual conversation with each other was far more important. I joined the woman in trying to get their attention- to the point where were were literally yelling and waving our arms up and down the way one would if they were drowning in a pool. I am not exaggerating. I have a toddler and this woman was elderly and we're here to give money and help with their commission. Finally one of the employees very glacially comes over to us and helps the woman. The other two stay where they are to continue their conversation. As it's now been a good amount of time my toddler is getting understandably restless, so I asked the woman if another employee could come over (I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she may have thought the 2 of us customers came together). She completely ignored me and the kind elderly customer seeing how frustrated my toddler was getting told the employee to help me out. I then told her what I was looking for. She opened the drawer and looked at every inch of it with a magnifying glass. No I'm not joking. After waiting a while (and I mean a while!) I glance over and see the product immediately. Shopped here several times for our registry, it's overall been a mediocre experience. Once time we had a great employee helping us; however, this last trip was the worst. My wife and I stood at the register for over 20 min and no one has come to help us. Several times a manager or an employee walked by us and didn't even ask if we needed help. What a waste of time. We eventually got help by the registry department after I asked for help. They apologized but sincerely it wasn't their responsibility. read more

I needed to return a pair of jeans that I bought in the store last week. I stood in (a not short) line in the denim department and the sales associate that sold me the jeans told me she can't do returns, so she sent me downstairs to the "returns and order pick-ups" counter. I stood in another enormous line, only to have that associate tell me she's not doing returns and I should "go to any register." I explained that I'd already stood in line at a register and was sent downstairs. She shrugged at me and told me any register can do returns. I went back upstairs to the same register, stood in line (for the third time), only to have the same sales associate tell me "I already told you I don't do returns!" I explained that I'd gone to where she sent me, and was sent back to her. She was extraordinarily rude and kept insisting that she couldn't do the return, and finally said "Well I'm clocking out so I can't help you and there's no one else up here. Good luck finding another register!" I did find another register and a lovely woman accepted the return with no questions asked. Evidently, the first associate is just not interested in doing her job, which is a shame given that all stores, including Bloomingdales, are likely struggling to recover from the Covid losses. Bloomingdales management should take a long hard look at their staff, because I'm a long-time client that will not be back. read more

Being Nespresso owners, there isn't anywhere else nearby to purchase nespresso pods. We come every two weeks for the nespresso stand so this isn't a review of Bloomingdales just the nespresso stand. Every time we come here we are greeted warmly and they can't do enough to help. The cafe area is lovely and you can try samples of anything they have in stock. Speaking of stock, the cafe area is nicely stocked with different types of sweeteners, and the cute little cups make sampling coffee seem so high end! I always love Bloomingdales but never realized just how lucky I was to always go to the bloomies in NYC. The staff at this place are complete assholes. I was trying to return a pair of headphones that did not work and they treated me as if I was a second rate citizen. From suggesting that I stop buying that type of headphones if it doesn't work to stating that perhaps I should stop dropping them on the floor so they don't get messed up. I have never been so questioned at a Bloomingdales or made to feel so stupid for trying to return a product for which I have a receipt and that I clearly bought. I am from NYC and I usually shop at Bloomingdales 59th street in Manhattan. I am only doing a review to give credit to an incredible experience. I am a med student and I have no time to go shopping like I used to during my undergrad. My form of relaxation after a stressful day of board reviews and tons of studying is online shopping and that usually happens in the wee hours of the day! Last week, I came across a few lightweight down coats from Burberry at discounted prices (20-30% off retaii). Unfortunately, those were not available online but in-store only. The Bloomingdales closest to my area doesn't have it on stock but only Bloomingdales in Short Hills, NJ. Literally, I wanted to fast forward the time so I can make the purchase over the phone and get the chance to own the beauties before someone buys it in the store. If you ask me if I had slept that night, the answer is NO! I couldn't... It was like one of those days waiting for a result from a difficult exam in school. LOL. At 10AM Eastern Time, I called up the store and they connected me to Burberry Women's Department. I made an order over the phone. Fran,who is amazing and sweet, the sales representative from Burberry went over and beyond to get the coats I was looking for. There were about 1 or 2 that were no longer available in their store BUT then again she finds time to call other branches in the US if they have the style and size for me and when finally she found one. She informed me and right away, paid and ordered it. The transaction was a breeze. I received the beautiful coat yesterday and clearly prepared/ wrapped with love and pride because of how neatly the packaging was done when it was delivered. This store is very disappointing, especially given that it is in a high end mall. This Bloomingdales has the potential but unfortunately, whoever designed the layout was not thinking clearly-or logically. It is a huge location, with 4 floors. Their well known frozen yogurt is located on the lower level with houseware. Cosmetics/handbags/accessories on the second, shoes on third and clothing etc up top. THERE IS ONLY ONE BATHROOM FOR CUSTOMERS-which is near the shoe DEPT. It is such an inconvenience!! What's wrong with them? Ideally, you would think there would be one near 40 carrots, as more elderly people occupy that part. As well as one in cosmetics. Not only that, the store is infested with flies. This is hands down one of the nicest Bloomingdale's there is. Much nicer than the Willowbrook location. There are three floors, and a basement. The basement contains a home/furniture store. There is plenty of garage parking, and parking lot access. The place even has its own cafe "Forty Carrots"! There is a whole men's store on either the second or third floor! Also there is a "b-kids" on the third floor, which is where you find all the kids stuff. The escalators are nice, and lots of lighting and nice staff asking us if we need anything. The place holds current logos, and the floors are beautiful. I don't see why people are rating this place so low. I don't see anything bad about this place. The only bad thing is that this might be a little pricey, since it's an upscale department store. It's like a luxury version of Macy's, and the place is less expensive than Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus. read more

This is my go-to in the mall. I always come to this store first because they carry a great selection of contemporary clothing. Are they always well stocked with new and fresh inventory? No. But most of the time they are and carry many brands I wear, both high end and mid price. Denim selection is excellent. In addition, they are constantly running sales and promotions. I will never shop here ever again. I've been a long time customer of Bloomingdale's, I even have their card & usually shop at the Bridgewater location. 3 times I visited this location and I basically have to go ask for help even though they are available. Recently I went there for a return which was within the return policy, they accused me of it been worn even though it wasn't and when I requested for a manager they called security on me and I hadn't even made a scene. I went to the Bridgewater location and without questions they took it back. I called cooperate and submitted pictures showing the item and the condition it was in and they apologized but doesn't excuse me for been embarrassed as a young educated African American in front of other associates there and customers. Felt like I stole something. They cater to a certain type of people there and I guess I didn't look like I fit in. Looks isn't everything though since I can afford anything I want in that store. The women in the dress department are RUDE, condescending and lazy. The sales associate who was doing the return had major attitude and was huffing, puffing and rolling her eyes..why? Because she had to work? Fast forward, 30 mins...found a dress to purchase but opted for another register. Two sales associate were gossiping so I politely interrupted to see if one of them could ring me up. Confronted with more attitude and a sarcastic "sure," one of them rung me up but was annoyed she had to stop gossiping and actually work.
