The place was busy, with a line of people all confidently ordering like they had discovered gold. The girl who took my order was warm, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. The coffee was delicious, the brisket taco absolutely hit the spot, and yes... I even bought one of their mugs, because apparently I now make emotional purchases over good coffee. And he was a real jerk because he had to remake it because he's apparently incapable of making a correct drink without junk floating in it. And the girl that was working was also pretty snotty. The guy then proceeds to have a little hissy fit and told her to get out loudly. Very embarrassing for him and for my wife and for pretty much everybody else in the store that paid for a drink that was having their experience ruined. In fact, this Portland-based coffeeshop has expanded to almost 150 locations in the U.S. in almost twenty years. Black Rock Coffee offers a variety of drink options like drip coffee, mocha, espresso drinks and hot tea. I like that even though they are a big chain now, they still do their best to connect to the local community. Black Rock Coffee Bar usually offers a free drink during grand opening of every location that they open. Black Rock Coffee Bar has both walk-up and drive-thru service. I usually get an Iced Latte, but I sometimes I will grab one of their creations from time-to-time. The Irish Coffee, Mexican Mocha and Caramel Truffle are a few favorites of mine. However, I was met and left with a bad taste in my mouth. No pun intended. The female employee (short hair/glasses) was not the friendliest person, even after I tried being overly nice. I don't know if she was having a bad day or just hates males in general but not a good representation of a place I was eagerly awaiting to try. I first asked if there was a difference in drinks from what was on the menu and up on the board above. She answered snarky, "if it's up on the board and on the menu it's the same" Mind you, one said latte and the other did not, hence the question. I opted with what I normally get. She took my order and then while looking down, stated, "2% milk okay" I said sure then asked if whole was available. You would've thought I had asked for her to go milk the cow and bring it back. She was very annoyed, so I said 2% is fine. I paid for my coffee then stood and watched her began preparing it. I saw her add one quick pump of syrup so I said, could I maybe have one more pump. Again, you would've thought I was about to suck them dry of all syrup. She seemed annoyed and looked at the register and began to say what I assume was they charge for extra, so I quickly said never mind. All in all I was disappointed with my interaction. The coffee was good and the wrap was okay but I dunno if I'd go back.

I got the spring special which was carrot cake, and it wasn't very sweet but they have a station with sugar for those who may want it sweeter. I personally like the less-sweet option, so I'm happy. The cashier sat and talked with me though while my drink was being made and was so sweet. Even to the girls ahead of me in line, it's like she's friends with everyone haha. And not in a "Dutch Bros in your face" kind of way either, which is nice when I'm running solo. I'll be back just cause of that alone, but of course to try some different coffee flavors as well.
