Very disappointed. The pictures on yelp look much better than the actual interior. The upstairs was closed so we ate downstairs at tiny tables with uncomfortable chairs. At our table we look right into the kitchen. The food was mediocre at best. We were there on a Wednesday night, and the menu was very limited. Strangely, the had 2 different gazpacho soups listed. We ordered the pasta which was overcooked and very oily. The best part of the meal was the bread served with the past. read more

We stumbled on this restaurant by accident on Halloween night and had one of the best dining experiences ever. The rooftop dining area offered a spectacular view of the river, and we could have our two small dogs with us. Service was quick and friendly. Since we were early and all alone on the rooftop, our waiter "G" became our new best friend. His suggestion of the home made chips and dip was perfect - crisp, thinly sliced, and lightly coated with a special flavored olive oil. Then as a special treat we got to try a new recipe that wasn't on the menu - yucca fries with a homemade queso. Wow!!! These were the best fries ever... For our main, we shared the blood orange chicken (half a chicken) which was cooked perfectly with a light crispy skin and served over sweet potatoes marinated in something with the most exquisite flavors. I lack the word to describe it adequately. Usually I think of chicken as the alternative dish for people who can't find anything they like on a menu. This chicken was on a whole other level. Dessert was churros filled with a guava sauce - crispy outside with powdered sugar and gooey sweet inside. Plus we had the Halloween brownie in the shape of a skull with cherries for eyes - spooky and delicious. As we understand it, the menu changes daily and we can't wait to try it again. read more

Great dinner that was unique for the day. Beautiful roof top dinning and lounging area. We spent several days driving up the coast from Savannah and this was the best dinner by far. The roof top dining does shimmy a bit from the AC (I assume), not a big deal but your butt does get a little massage. read more

After friends suggested this place, I took my wife out to it for our anniversary. We chose to sit outside on the rooftop. When we got there there were just a couple of other people there. Those customers suggested that smart people get there early in order to get a table with a good view of the sunset. Wise but also some tables are noisier than others due to rooftop equipment being rather loud and some of the tables vibrate a great deal. We sat and were able to move two more times until we found a table that at which we could talk and where our cutlery would not rattle around. The food selection was limited and was decent but not worth coming from from out of town. The prices were a but much for the experience. The server while nice and friendly did not know the menu well at all. She had to go ask the kitchen server times if asked any questions about how a dish is prepared. Her first attempt to answer my wife's simple questions, was to just read her the menu aloud. My wife is literate and had already read the menu so that was a bit insulting. Like another reviewer wrote-the server(s?) do not know much about wine and stated that she had never heard of wine from South Africa before. Then she asked us where South Africa was located. So far it was an ok night, rather disappointing but not much to complain or complement about. After the meal, I went to use the men's bathroom before heading home. Well, I don't know yet what the inside joke is but I found the display of pornography on the ceiling of the men's room disgusting and so did my wife. Had we known before dinner about the hundreds of Playboy looking cutout magazine pages stuck the roof, we would have left before trying the food. Some of the nude images were very disturbing and appeared to be children on display. The deal breaker for us is when we asked the woman at the desk there about what was all that about and did she know it was in there. She replied that she knew, that is was the owner who decorates the bathroom that way, and that is was his place and he can display whatever he wants. When I asked what do they do when children/young boys need to use the bathroom, the woman told my wife and I that they don't get many children who go to the bathroom alone and if we do "We tell them not to look up." So if you desire an ok view of the waterfront on an industrial part of a modified rooftop with ok food and can turn your moral compass off, accept the owner treating male customers to an adolescent fantasy gym locker in a fraternity house by degrading women and publicly displaying pornography which may involved displaying nude children, enjoy yourselves because we will never return. I wonder how many of the other reviewers have ever looked into the men's room, seen the ceiling, and still found the place as charming or as much of a gem. I have too much respect for daughters, sisters, wives, and mothers to support such a restaurant now knowing what I do about the vales and exploitive attitudes of both the owner and his employees. read more

The food is quite possibly the best in Beaufort County! Have been here twice in the past few weeks and can't wait to go back! The ambiance on the roof top is fabulous with a great breeze coming in off the water. The wait staff is very young and showed a bit of inexperience on my first trip, but was much improved on my second visit. Overall a great experience. read more

Lunch menu is rather expensive for Washington, but great food and service, making it worth the occasional splurge. Very clean, and offers some original and thoughtful flavors which I think are worth exploring. Better than the Hackney, where I just can not get over asking a waiter to change to a clean apron and she did not. read more

Terribly underwhelming. Given the price I was extremely disappointed. The fish was over cooked and rubbery. The wine was mislabeled. A Madeira wine is Portuguese not Spanish. The owner came to the table next to us to answer their questions about the cost of wine per glass but refused to give them the price saying it depended on multiple factors? I will not be back. Entrance is in the back of building. They have the worst place for a host stand. In front of stairs and the main walkway. We just felt like we were in everyone's way. Not enough room in this place for a restaurant. Not impressed with the service or the food on a Saturday night either. Server didn't know anything on the menu. My "burger" came on toast. Amazing hospitality and food. The green olives are amazing. The owner accommodated us for lunch even though they were closed for dinners prep. Egg salad, lobster roll, and pumpkin pie were all outstanding. We even left with a complimentary jar of the house olives. read more

The men's bathroom has hundreds of p*rnographic images of women on the ceiling. I could not believe it. This is tasteless and inappropriate beyond belief. I can't image how many innocent children have been exposed to p*rn from just trying to have a nice dinner with family. I never care enough to write reviews but I have never seen such an awful thing at a restaurant. We spoke to the owner at the end and she said it was considered "art." That cannot be acceptable at all. Not to mention the incredibly long wait and extremely overpriced/tiny portions with burnt burgers, cold cheese, and burnt chips + the owner was drinking while working. The only good thing that happened was that our checks were adjusted because of the poor experience. We will never be back. read more

This might have been the worst experience of my life. First off never bring a kid here, there is porn on the ceiling of the men's bathroom. I never received my food however the only positive of this whole experience was that the waitress was very nice. The food that our table did receive was burnt and nothing above horrible. The service was alright I can't get mad at the server for bad training. No wine tasting or description of the meals. The service was the best part. The food was so overpriced for the portions the best part was the appetizers but we paid 34$ for a 3oz steak... also charged us more than what the menu priced. The ambiance was so bad on the lower level we sat outside upstairs where they should invest in a speaker and overall heat lamps. I enjoyed the venison stew on a cold Friday evening. The quiet ambiance and friendly staff made for a nice evening. Although it was not open for business, we enjoyed looking around in the cooking gift shop after dinner. We did not have a drink at the bar (which is a bit small), and there is no draft if you are looking for a beer. We walked down the street before dinner to Two Rivers Alehouse for a quick craft beer. read more

We have been to Blu twice recently, once for lunch and once for dinner. In both cases the food was excellent. The menu varies frequently in keeping with the theme of fresh, seasonal foods. There is an emphasis on quality of ingredients as well as sophisticated yet unpretentious preparation. Prices are fair and the wait staff is friendly and helpful. Cocktail, beer and wine selections are great. There is usually a breeze on the rooftop that makes it comfortable on all but the hottest days and the view is great. I do not recommend this restaurant. We went on valentines day evening and were unaware of the prices from the start. We got our bill back and were shocked. This place was not worth the money, and the food was not even close to being worth it. The setting was weird and it was too quiet we had to whisper to each other. Yes, i am aware we went on valentines day, but we did so much research about this place before hand and the reviews were so good and explained the prices were extremely affordable. I went for Brunch every Sunday for a month, and it was amazing their chef was up beat and positive and was clearly passionate. The food was worth it. I came back around New years, and it was trash I've gone three more times and it gets worse every time. Today was by far the worst. If you want to experience what feels like eating in a prison kitchen with the staff to match yelp stop by. The owner/manager can't read the town or her staff bc they clearly hate it ther. I'd highly suggest grub brothers for lunch and if you're looking for brunch the mulberry was more the than I expected. I'd give Blu and whatever the 3 store get up thing is less than 2 years. Four of us had lunch last week and were so impressed by this restaurant. Everything was super fresh and flavorful. We had the crab cake sandwich, 2 clubs, and a burger and each of us was delighted! The homemade chips were great-the aioli dipping sauce was superb. And I can say that the generously sized crab cake sandwich was on of the best I've had in many years. Some friends and I went here to celebrate their birthdays. We had reservations for rooftop dining. There was an excellent guitarist playing on this night. The menu was very limited and offered one salad (Caesar), several appetizers, a couple of seafood dishes and a flank steak dish. I ordered the Caesar salad for $16 without the dressing. It consisted of a bowl of lettuce, approximately four croutons and one very thin lemon slice. One friend ordered the clams. I think there were five clams for around $27 but she said they were scrumptious. Bread was suppose to come with this dish. She asked for it three times. When we finished our meal the bread arrived.
