The reviews made us give this place a try, it wasn't bad but it also wasn't great. We ordered the bruschetta for appetizer and it was basically chopped up tomatoes on top of toast, it had good flavor but not the bruschetta we imagined. My husband got the Red Fish with green beans and mashed potatoes. The description was misleading, we thought it would be red snapper but it was red drum and the portions size for the sides were not filling. I ordered the penne alla vodka with shrimp. The same tomato that was on the bruschetta was in the pasta which made the two dishes taste very similar. On top of that I only got 4 shrimp in the dish, I know shrimp are expensive but 4 is a bit ridiculous. read more

This place is so good. It's on the expensive side but you are most definitely getting your hard earned moneys worth. Everything is expertly sourced and fresh. The service is top notch. In my opinion this establishment is one of the best spot places to eat in Greenville. They have outside seating and there isn't a lot of that in town so take advantage of that here. We've had dinner here twice visiting our son who is in the medical school. The first time we came here we were moving him in and the four of us looked like we had been run over in the middle of the street and we're dying of starvation. We didn't realize what a nice place this was, but you'd have thought we walked in wearing tuxedos because we were treated very well. The second time we came with a large group for my son's white coat ceremony and the service and food were just as outstanding. We will definitely be back many many times to this restaurant. One of the worst experiences I have had in Greenville (and other places) made reservations for Valentines Day 3 weeks prior. Walked in - there was no host - the server was confused. They found my reservation but didn't know where to seat us. They tried to put us in front of the DOOR and we said we would prefer to sit somewhere else... They said, these tables are all reserved. yes, I made a RESERVATION. So they eventually - after some discussion - sat us away from the door. So.... we ordered the appetizers that were offered for tonight - either a salad or a lobster bisque. We got one of each. There was not a shred of lobster in the bisque. Very watered down. Waiter said he would be right back with bread.... nope. We finished our appetizers and well nothing.... when he did come back he had our entrees. No clearing of our plates prior to - the tables are so small we had to 'trade' with him. I got the filet, my boyfriend got the snapper. My filet was over salted. My potatoes were bland and the green beans were cold. Snapper was just average. Maybe on a NON event, like Valentine's day, the food is better. After close to $300 - we will never be back. read more

This was our first time dining at Cafe Duo. We were so happy that we tried it. We were greeted at the door with a very friendly welcome. Our drinks were wonderful. The food: pasta de golfo was absolutely delicious! My husband had pasta with mussels. He absolutely loved it. We had a relaxed, delicious dinner. The only low point was dessert. First time here at Cafe Duo, it was definitely one of their busiest day, Mother's Day. Our family had a reservation for a party of 17 and we were promptly seated in their outdoor patio. The manager quickly came and greeted our party. Took our order of drinks. There was a small menu for today, I will said it was well thought out. Love the custom touch. I order the Panino Rustica with a cup of the soup of the day; tomato bisque. I could say the soup was my favorite part of the whole meal. The entre was fresh but bland. There was not much magic happening there, the soup set such high expectation for the whole meal. The fries were cold and too greasy. I got to taste the Penne Allá Vodka the pasta was perfectly cook, I wished the sauce, chicken and pasta was simmered to be able to absorb the flavor of the vodka sauce. My history order a side of grits, they were really good more on the runny side but with lots of flavor. Lastly, I got a creme brûlée for dessert. It was definitely fresh, creme, top with the perfect amount of crispy goodness. I will love to go back another day, when it's not so busy and try their menu again. Anything less than 5 stars is rude to a small business (don't do it), and this restaurant is doing a good job. That being said, the food is very safe and mostly bland. Service is polite but not engaged. Inside could use a freshen up, patio is lovely. I think with just a bit of refocusing this could be excellent, but it feels like it lost its way. read more

This was a charming restaurant! I ordered the cheese burger and a Bloody Mary and both were yummy. The only reason I'm giving a 4 is because I ordered the burger medium and it came out rare. Practically still mooing but delicious nonetheless. The crispy fries that accompanied it more than made up for the burger temp. The bloody was subtle but not enough horseradish. I am giving 3 stars because the waitress could of been more attentive and like only way she came to the table is if we called her and my food had to be sent back because it was not done correctly at all. Steak was cold to the core both times and first time it was barely cooked when I asked for medium well. The salmon was good. I think that was the best item, but overall none of the food had a lot of flavor, which was very disappointing. I ordered the bolognese this time and assumed it was made with beef, however when I was half way done I noticed it was a very light colored meat (it was dark outside). I asked the waitress and she said it was pork. I don't usually eat pork because it doesn't agree with me. I think they should write in the description "pork" not just "meat" as I think most people presume it will be beef. My husband had the salmon and he said it was "ok". First time trying this place for brunch. My boyfriend & I didn't realize how popular this place was. There was some wait but 15 minutes later we got a table. My husband took me and my sister to Cafe Duo Saturday for Mother's Day. The menu was varied as to what one wanted. I had the charbroiled salmon with green beans and mashed potatoes, it was perfect, the salmon was moist and had the best mustard glaze on it. My sister got the mushroom ravioli and a side salad, she said it was delicious. My husband opted for the Fruitti Dimari with muscles, shrimp, scallops on a bed of noodles. Went to Cafe Duo last night for the first time since the Pandemic. Everything was excellent. I started with the tomato bisque soup and my wife had a small salad. Homemade bread with olive oil was brought out. Both my wife and I chose from the specials. I had a "shoulder" steak (much like an ironsteak) with frites. The steak was done perfectly and the frites were among the best I ever tasted. My wife had a pasta dish with chopped shrimp, peppers, some chopped veggies in a tomato cream sauce. She said it was great. The desserts, a creme brûlée for me and key lime pie for my wife were fantastic. Service was friendly, pleasant prompt and what you would expect in a better restaurant. The wait staff was very informative as to their dishes. Atmosphere and decor is certainly a cut above casual dining but still relaxed. It was quiet and good for conversation but we had arrived early (around 5:15 PM) and there were only a few parties seated then. Many more people were arriving as we were leaving around 6:30. This probably one of the top 2 or 3 restaurants in Greenville for better dining or fine cuisine. Will definitely be going back more often. read more
